I want to give this place a ZERO if I could! Service is very poor! Nita's used to be a very good Filipino restaurant. The quality of service and taste of food deteriorated. I bought 2 combos. The owner dumped both kare kare and pork ribs side by side with the sauce seeping all over the container and plastic bag. The sauce mixed altogether and you wouldn't even understand the taste of what you are eating. It looked nasty too! I am NOT coming back again. this is my go to place to grab lunch :) love their version of the following dishes: pork bbq pinakbet mung beans (the only version of munggo i eat is from this place) sisig (their version is like liempo with a hint of lemon and onion) spicy sweet ribs chicken curry chicken afritada sinigang buko pandan (this could be improved by adding more buko though) pancit (i saw one review here saying that this place is cheap for not including pancit as part of their combo. their pancit has lots of meat and vegetables, it's not plain noodles so it's understandable that it's sold as an entree. i'd rather pay than get a plain, boring noodles) I also appreciate that they don't tolerate people who try to cut the line. read more

My friend brought a pork bbq stick to work for me and it was pretty good. She ordered some BBQ for us before going to the casino. She also got me sisig since that's my favorite Filipino dish. I picked up daing bangus and sinigang to complete our dinner. Pork bbq sticks ($1.75): actually better than the one that my friend brought to the office. It was meaty, sweet and just delicious. Sisig: what a disappointment. Where is the skin? It was just meat and wasn't marinated well. My favorite sisig is from Magic Wok in Artesia. I actually went to Magic Wok few days after going to Nita's because I wanted a great sisig. Sinigang ($7.50 for large): not my favorite sinigang..it was missing something. I prefer the one from Magic Wok too. Daing bangus ($3.50): basically $1.75 for each fish and it was just okay. 3.5 stars!! I would come back for the BBQ again. QUICK TIPS: CASH ONLY. When I miss my mom's cooking, I tend to hit up places looking for my fix. Earlier this week, that craving brought me to Nita's. That and trusty ol' Yelp. It's not too far from work and it's located in a strip mall. Parking was okay but maybe it depends on the time of day. Place is a typical Filipino - point point - assembly line like. Don't expect creature comforts as far as the dining room goes. No service. You pick. You pay. You sit. You eat. I went simple - Menudo and BBQ Sticks with rice. Well, I don't eat much rice but at least it was cooked well. How well rice is cooked is one way I rate certain restaurants and this place passed. Not that I came here rice though. My other two selections were okay. Tender, a little on the dry side but decent portions for the price. I felt the Menudo could have used a little more salt but overall, it was okay. If I'm wandering around and feeling the craving, I'd stop by again if I couldn't find another place to try. read more

The branch my company banks with moved to a new location. Once I stepped outside my car in the new location, I smelled something glorious and it wasn't the smell of money. The smell was coming from south east direction and I saw a cloud of white smoke coming out of a roof in the same strip mall. I took a mental note of the restaurant instead of bookmarking it on Yelp, to come back the next time I take out some cash. Again, not too familiar with Filipino food, I asked some of the customers waiting in line what their favorite dish is. Most of the customers were friendly enough to guide into the path of a glorious meal. I got the two item combo and chose bbq skewers and a side similar to a Korean dish, Galbi-jeem. I am not sure if it was because I didn't have any expectations, when I took the first bite out of each side, I was truly amazed. All of a sudden, I was overcome with joy because I found another "winning" restaurant in the area. I will definitely stop by again and bring my team along for a nice, home-made style, inexpensive Filipino food. read more

If you're craving for great sisig (Filipino dish- beef cut into small pieces with chopped up onions, peppers and marinated for that great lemony taste) this is the place to go. They also serve home cooked Filipino favorites like pork BBQ skewers, kaldereta (stew in tomato sauce and bell peppers), kare kare (beef in peanut sauce), etc. when you order your dish over the phone for pick up, always make sure to call ahead of time as they tend to "run out". My thought is that they just sell them to walk in customers who are ready to pay for the dish (sure $$$) and prepare new ones for phone orders. This was my first time eating Filipino food. I was in Carson and did not feel like a burger, so I looked up my trusty Yelp app and headed here. I was probably the only non-Filipino in the place, which is always a good sign. Food is laid out on the steam table, so I asked for recommendations. I had a chicken soup-like dish and fried chicken. The beef dish another patron recommended was out, and I don't eat pork, so I was left with the chicken. The soup was decent, with a few root veggies. The broth was good with the rice. The fried leg and thigh were very juicy and tasty. I also had a banana in a filo-like pastry wrap, fried crispy. I love these types of desserts, and this was good, but it would have been better if it was a bit fresher, warm right out of the fryer instead of sitting under the heat lamps. It will not make it into my regular meal rotation, but it was good and a very worthwhile detour for lunch from the usual. read more

Been coming here for years. Food is good but after years of coming here to this mom and pop restaurant I will no longer come here nor will I recommend anyone to come here. You'll get robbed right in front of your eyes and be fine with it. I come here and get the same thing every time. Last 3 times I crane here I had 3 different charges. Today I came and got 3 combo plates and I seen the lady charge me random amounts each time three $1 charges including a random $3. When I asked her how much she was explaining to me what they were for and didn't add up. I understand it's a old register and they had to charge manually but the random amounts and no receipt. They don't have a set price for what you ask for. Another reason is the food portioning is getting smaller each time. I asked if I can have some extra sauce and she said it wouldn't fit but she did anyways and took meat out and pressed the cover down so hard it cracked the lid and the juices came out. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. first time trying it and u notice it's cash only. No biggie, I went ahead and ordered 2 combos, the lady charged me extra for fried chicken that is old, cold, rubbery and is just plain inedible. I also ordered some grilled tilapia so I politely asked if I could have some bagoong. The old lady behind the counter said "we don't have any" when clearly, standing right behind her is a jar of bagoong. All in all, horrible experience, the food tasted old, nothing was good and most of them went in the trash coz u can't even eat them. Will I come back? DEFINITELY NOT. Never again!! I asked my husband to stop by this restaurant. I asked him to get a combo no rice just noodles.They said noodles is considered an entree. The food here is without a doubt is really good, and they are well-known for the pork bbq sticks, and the Filipino spaghetti. For almost 2 weeks I have been calling and walking into this restaurant, for the Filipino spaghetti. The problem in that is that they haven't had any for quite some time now. Sort of strange that they don't have any of what they are well known for. Spaghetti is fairly simple and Filipino spaghetti may be less complicated. Very disappointing, and I'm getting a little weary of calling every day and taking the time out to drive there, just to find out they don't even have any for the day! Nita's is the best place to eat Filipino food. They have a variety of choices to choose from. Whenever I get the chance to eat there, it's so hard to decide what my two entrees will be. The best part is that I'm never disappointed. I love the bbq and the Kare Kare. Every time I eat, I feel like I'm at home. The food tastes like you're eating a home-cooked meal. It's so nostalgic. Also, the workers are very nice. They are very interactive with you. There's this one worker in particular, I think her name is Kim. She is outstanding and friendly. Everyone there makes my experience complete. This restaurant definitely encompasses the "kaibigan" atmosphere. read more

You haven't tried Filipino food unless you've visited Nita's Turo Turo restaurant. Now I know there are different versions of Filipino dishes. Philippines itself is a very diverse country, surrounded by different provinces. It is only normal to have a different style of Adobo, Pancit or Kare kare. This place however, has successfully captured the very core flavor of traditional dishes most Filipino longed from their homeland. They carry array of food that will sure excite your exotic taste. My out most favorite dish in this place is their Sisig, Pinakbet, BBQ and Kare kare. However, I always ask for Pinapaitan, (Goat innards) unfortunately it is not always available. They may or may not have it, and if they have it, it goes out very fast. This place also carries catering services. Aside from a great meal, the service here is a bit in the dreary side. Servers here don't really have a lot of patience for new customers, especially when it comes to asking what kind of ingredient they use to make Dinuguan. It will be best to come with someone that knows the food. This place is a family owned, so people know everybody here. They have great food, deserts and rice; it is cheap and very convenient. read more

It's not only the first Pilipino place I've been but it's definitely the only Pilipino place I'll ever eat at. Honestly it's lame to say this on yelp but you can't go wrong with any of the selections. But if you want to be safe you should stick with the beef skewers and soups. This place is incredibly crowded during lunch time. I know why now. It's cheap, varieties to choose from and just all that greasy goodness! 1-item plate is $4.50 and a 2-item plate is $6. can't beat that. The food here is good... fast food joints usually have a tendency of having plates tasting the same but not here. adobo tastes like traditional adobo, sinagang taste like traditional sinagang, beef steak tastes like traditional beef steak. I would have given this filipino fast food joint a solid 4-star review but couldn't because as I was enjoying my lumpia... a piece of hair was deep-fried into it. But hey, you always take a risk of eating a hair or two if you eat out. This doesn't discourage me from eating there again. I'm a champ. =) read more

Had a hankering for some Filipino food so I hit up yelp and decided on this place. I guess the area is an unofficial Filipino-town because of all of the choices so close together. I'm definitely going to be hitting up the rest. The place definitely caters to repeat business. Once I got in, I was very confused with how everything works and due to the lack of signs or distinguishing features, ended up at the wrong side of the counter. Luckily there was no one coming in right after me so I didn't get anyone upset! I got the 2 entree plate and had no idea what the entrees were because they're not listed as entrees. I'm thinking that the catering menu doubles as an entree menu, even though it just says catering. So let this be a lesson, if you go there for lunch, order from the items listed as catering. I ended up getting some bbq skewers, pancit, and a big 6 inch eggroll thing. I figure it's a type of lumpia, although I've never had anything that size before. The bbq skewers were awesome, with the perfect amount of cooking to give some pieces a tiny bit of tasty char while keeping the rest nice and hot. The rice was rice, can't go wrong there. The lumpia scared me, partly because I've never had that style before and partly because I swear I tasted banana in it. I may have ordered a dessert. I don't know. BUT! It was tasty, especially with some vinegar! The pancit was my favorite part, very good! My only complaint is a confusing menu for new customers like me. Luckily I already knew what I wanted for the most part, and was already familiar with vinegar as a condiment so it was easy for me to seek it out. Not to be biased or anything but this establishment sells affordable Filipino food. Their barbeque is the most favorite of the Pinoy's coming over to eat. Been to almost all the Pinoy restos in Carson and this by far is the best. I am giving it a 4/5 because of the parking. There are so many Filipino restaurants in Carson but certain ones don't always have what you're looking for. Nita's has a solid selection and great prices. I'm always craving sisig and they have it daily. Nice and sour with that grilled taste that everyone loves. I love Nita's. Everytime I go here they call me "Pogi!" (LOL) Okay, this hole-in-a-wall is all about home cooked food. That's why I love this place and not because they call me "pogi" all the time. To be very specific, Nita's serves "ilocano" dishes (Northern Philippines cuisine). My parents are from this region so I am really accustomed to this cuisine. Their "barbecue" (pork skewers) is the best I tasted so far here in the US. Although there are times it's quite charred but still all that juicy goodness in every pork bite is awesome. Sisig is the best seller but I'm not a fan of it since it's missing the "fun" parts (everything from a pig's head). Not to gross people out here but for me, their main specialty is goat. Yes, goat (meeeehh)... Their "pinapaitan" is the best! They only serve this dish on Fridays though. It's worth a try believe me. read more
