The quality of food is great. The best arroz caldo with lechon . The taste is spot on, the place is simple, just regular restaurant with no frills: you come here for delicious Filipino food. Definitely will go back. The servers were nice and food came out fast. There is parking . It's clean .

I could've sworn that I just did a review for Mami King this month. Now my newest review isn't showing. I have been coming here since my late teens. My beloved stepmom, used to bring us here on the way home from church. I have fond memories of eating their palabok and literally eating a whole plate of it all by myself. That was back in the day when I could afford to eat like that. Anyways, now that I have my own family, I have started to bring them to Mami King since we love their siopao so much. We don't live close, so we usually grab food or a box of siopao when we're in the area. The last time we dined here, we rushed over right after work. As soon as we arrived, a couple of us ran into the restroom. In one of my previous reviews, I had mentioned how dirty the restroom was many years ago, so I was prepared to enter the same setup. Luckily though, they seemed to have cleaned it up a lot. That was all great until I needed to wash my hands. No hand soap. The container was absolutely dry and didn't seem to have had any soap in at the very least, days. I told the workers, they told each other, didn't seem to be concerned or cared. This hand soap dispenser never got filled. I know this because later on, someone else in my party needed to use the restroom. They came out and had to ask me for a hand sanitizing wipe because there was still no soap. At the time we were there, there was only one other party that was dining. Service - we were happily greeted by our sweet server who we've had many times before. She was a short, long haired, mature lady. She always has a smile on her face, and she is super friendly and attentive to me and my kids. She is so pleasant and I enjoy her company. What we ordered the last time; The family meal deal 1) Siomai - not the usual flavor of Siomai that many of us are used to. My Siomai obsessed kid, did not like this. I didn't either. 2) palabok - good but needed a little more seasoning which was easily fixed by a little fish sauce and of course some lemon. 3) lechon kawali - crispy and served with a soy sauce and vinegar dip. Not as many pieces as they used to serve. 4) Kare kare - served with bagoong. Serving size seems to have shrunk. It's not as peanut buttery as I would have liked, it was ok. 5) Chicken and wonton soup - this wasn't part of the family meal deal that we chose but felt we needed one more item to add for a party of six people. It was ok. Not as tasty as it once was. 6) 12 siopao to go - the best as usual The food seems to have gone downhill a bit. Portion sizes seemed smaller, flavor was lacking. It was very disappointing. Everyone was so excited to eat at, Mami King. With the food being less tasty, it may be a while before we go back to Mami King. Driving over 45 minutes needs to be worth it. This time just wasn't it.

Mami King has always been our go-to for beef wonton mami and siopao, but I had to lower my rating to 3 stars. Last week we ordered takeout and the wonton was raw. Even after reheating, it was still undercooked. We were really disappointed and had to throw them away. Hoping this was just an off day and it won't happen again.

I've been here more than a few times, and the food holds steady, honest, consistent, and the kind of authentic that doesn't need to shout. Customer service was great, but unfortunately the food was very disappointing. It was very bland and overpriced. Each bowl costs $13, which is totally not worth it. The quality has definitely gone downhill. It seems like they may have changed their cook because the food used to be good. Marketed as serving Filipino Chinese cuisine, Mami King serves a variety of Filipino classics, for both dine-in and carry-out. We found it ideal for a family style mean, sampling a variety of delicious dishes on a Wednesday afternoon. Mami King is located in a small strip mall, in the heart of Filipino town in the city of Carson in the South Bay of Los Angeles County. There are A LOT of Filipino restaurants in the area, so chose one that I haven't been before. We came before it opened at 11 am, so was able to find parking in the shared strip mall lot. It is a sit-down restaurant where a server will come to you with menus, utensils, and water. The menu reminds me more of chowking (chinese restaurant found in Seafood city supermarkets) than a typical filipino point-point restaurant, with noodle soup dishes, arroz caldo (filipino rice porridge), and siopao...rather than typical barbeque. We were a group of three, so ordered dishes to share and the hostess was receptive enough to bring extra bowls and plates for us to use. Chicken Arroz Caldo $8.50 -rice porridge. was the right consistency, and topped with dark meat chicken and fried tofu. I really liked this dish, and would be something perfect for breakfast (and when you are not feeling well). It had a healthy scoop of toasted garlic...thinking this might be one of the best uses of dried garlic, in congee. Siopao $3.75 each - got one pork and one chicken (marked with a red dye on the surface). They were large size (I think two of them would fill someone up. It had been freshly steamed. Chicken & Wonton - $12.95 - a good dish to have for lunch, it came with thin egg noodles (basically like saimin...one of the most inexpensive noodles one can get). The broth was very thin, most likely made from powder. It did come with good shrimp wontons and the strips of dark meat chicken and fresh napa cabbage and green onions made the dish hearty enough to eat my itself. Miki Bihon - $14.75 - mix of egg and rice noodles, it had been freshly prepared and was topped with a generous strip of really good lechon. A really good version of pancit, and one that you would be proud to bring over for a pot luck. They do accept credit card for totals over $10, but they clearly indicate that they can not accept tip as part of it. Not sure why. So we had to scramble a bit to find cash, which we managed to do. Our waitress boxed up our leftovers nicely, and we were on our way.

I've been a customer my whole life and have been coming here since the late 90s. I don't live in the area anymore and drive 12 hours down here to see family! Everytime I come, Ate Lita is there to serve me with a smile. Today I was able to bring my kids here to share this place with the next generation. I've never been disappointed! If you're paying with a card, bring cash as a tip is my only advice!

I grew up going here with my parents before I moved to Riverside. Carson has a bunch of hidden gems, and this is definitely one of them. Haven't been to Mami King in years since a few months back, and the food still tastes the same(absolutely delicious!) Their chicken is super good along with their java rice and their siopaos are so good that you need to take them home for later!

This is one of the local Filipino restaurants with your typical comfort food. They've been here for years and my family has been going here for years, as well. If you're looking for comfort food that tastes like home then this is it! Really solid, especially when it's cold or rainy days. Their mamis just hits the spot! My recommendations are the, palabok, siopaos, spaghetti and their beef & chicken mami. Their service is always so welcoming, with a fair wait time from when you order to getting your food. The actual restaurant is pretty clean and looks taken care of. I definitely recommend it to anybody who's craving delicious "homemade " style Filipino food! read more

Solid beef mami! Was craving the flavors of home and wanted some soup, so I found this place on a quick yelp search. Flavor of the beef was excellent and it was wuite tender. It had one odd fatty piece but I just avoided it. The noodles weren't my fave but weren't bad. Broth was flavorful, and at the price point you cant go wrong. I would def be back! read more

If you are looking for the best siapao for your money, this is the place to go. If you're wondering what a siapao is, the best way to describe it is a meat bun. I don't eat pork so this is where I get chicken siapao. This little hole in the wall place has a really nice staff of people who start to know you if you go often like I do. Lol You definitely have to try this place out. read more

Mami King never fails! Their siopao is super soft and flavorful, and the kare-kare is so creamy and delicious -- lasang lutong bahay talaga! Always my favorite spot when I'm craving comfort food. Highly recommended! 100% service too! The best here in Carson! read more

Great Filipino food! Love their goto, tokwa & baboy, Sotanghon. Savory Chicken, and of course their mami and siopao! Service was excellent! The Server was very friendly and accommodating . This neighborhood has a lot of Filipino restaurants to choose from! Love it here! We were all craving arroz caldo and this place popped up on Google maps. It wasn't a bad price for it. Around $8 and they give a large amount! It lasted me two days. It has meat, boiled egg, and tofu. I also ordered pork sisig. Yum! It usually has mayo in it, but this one didn't. Still delicious! A good amount to share with one other person. The young woman at the counter was nice. The order was ready quickly! Probably around 10 minutes. I would come back to try other stuff from the menu. read more

I went to Carson today and i tried the new Cha Siu Pork Noodle. This new item is not just a dish, it's a combination of a warm embrace of Filipino-Chinese culinary heritage. It has been some time since our last dining experience at Mami King, where I typically order food for takeout. Today, we had a positive experience thanks to our server Alex, who provided excellent service despite being overwhelmed with customer orders while she kept her calm. Food was great and satisfying. Service is always great and staff is friendly. We ordered the Mami King Chicken it was savory as always. The spaghetti with hot dog are always a good for the kids' appetite/tastes. Arroz caldo with lechon was crispy and closest thing to home made. Food was so fresh and tasty. Thank you! read more

When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the aroma of food cooking in the kitchen. The staff welcomed me as I approached the cafeteria-style food counter. The menu hangs above, making it easy to look through the options. I asked about their veggie egg rolls, which were displayed in a separate case along with lumpia and other tempting treats. While learning about their veggie egg rolls and other dishes, I decided to order the egg rolls and was also drawn to the cantaloupe drink. On a warm day, the thin slices of cantaloupe floating in the drink looked so refreshing. The prices were very reasonable, and the egg roll itself was a great size. It also came with a dipping sauce that paired perfectly. I sat down to enjoy my lunch, and it did not disappoint. The vinegar-based sauce complemented the egg roll nicely, and the sweet cantaloupe drink balanced everything out for a great sweet-and-savory combo. Before leaving, I even bought another egg roll to take home. The staff were friendly, and I really enjoyed my lunch. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.

We did not understand the discrepancy in pricing since it's the same food and pretty much the same sizing (maybe slightly smaller mains) though they may cook the food fresh/heat it up on the sit down area. My group ordered a variety of food including lechon kawali, garlic rice, vegetables, soup, pancit, etc. and they were very tasty and hit home! well seasoned. The place was not very busy so it was quick. We decided to sit in the restaurant with our ordered food since we were the only ones there. I ordered a main that was running low and the employee told me that they had to cook it and I had to wait which was fine with me. The man ended up not giving me much of the new cooked pieces but mostly of the leftovers and added a couple of pieces of the fresh ones, which was fine but with the wait made it disappointing since I could have just gotten some of the old pieces from the beginning and started eating it. Decent place - I would recommend their "scoop and go" service area for fast service and more reasonable pricing. *I heard they have karaoke in the late afternoon, which may change the vibe and atmosphere of this place so we may need to check that out! 3.2/5

I signed up to Yelp for the very first time to ensure i take my time and write Mami King a survey base on my recent visit this morning. Keep in mind there is no mami king in la so ovbiously with the high gas prices, i took the time and drove to eat their food. when we got there, the restaurant was empty and maybe because it is still a holy week and many catholics do not eat meat. This young lady serviced us and everything was fine. When i was about to dig in and eat my spaghetti it was lack of sauce. So i politely ask her if i can ask for some so i was not eating a dry spaghetti. She was not sure what the policy was so she asked the cook if i can have some extra sauce. Another bi***h waitress came to see us and told me "sorry we dont give extra sauce even though u pay extra." so i was shocked to the highest level. So i said, "really, u want me to eat a dry spaghetti? Fine and thats weird. So she still took my plate and said, u know we are filipinos and we are catholics, i will not do anything with ur food and i will make sure they dont spit on it. So they better be. Such a horrible customer service. I dont think i would ever come back here again and waste my gas to be treated that way. I get bothered when i get service like this bcoz i work in the institution where we will do everything to make our clients happy. I will go above and beyond to ensure my clients will come back to me for my service. All of us eat at the restaurants and even to those high end ones. These people need to learn what great custome service is. No matter how you runs your business, they should treat their customers with respect. We paid our bill but i was still nice enough to give them 4.00 tip. read more

so im filipino and my husband is not; im prefacing that because i think it matters in this case. you should also know that im currently going through chemotherapy and soups; like mami; is one of the few things that i can keep down. On this particular night i was having a hard time with nausea and could not go to mami king myself so i asked the husband to go for me. he said that it was one of the worst experiences in rudeness he's ever encountered in a long time. Right from the get go; after putting in his order (seafood mami) the lady taking it said "we dont have that" and turned her back; he had to follow her and point to the seafood mami on their menu; btw; they have it; its what i always get. He also asked for siopao for him for his dinner; again; the "we didnt have it"; essentially they're refusing him service. When its time to pay; again; would not give change to a $20 bill and asked him to give the exact amount. now why would you do that to my husband when the family before him and the customers after him got served with a smile and everything was a-ok. why is it like that when everytime i would come they greet me with a friendly hello and got served no issue. where is the compassion? and why be so blatantly racist? see my husband would've said eff this; except he knew that without that soup i wouldnt have eaten that night. i am going to report this to a news outlet for sure; i'm sure they wouldnt find it too amusing how a husband who is just trying to bring dinner home to his cancer ridden wife was treated with zero common decency. i would not patronize this place; there are no words for how foul they treat people. read more

Mami King - Disappointing and Poor Quality My recent visit to Mami King was unfortunately a major letdown due to serious quality control issues. The siopao was surprisingly bad--the bun was dense and the filling was of poor quality. The sotanghon was practically inedible because it was excessively salty. To top it off, the noodles in my dish tasted distinctly bad and left an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall, the experience was deeply underwhelming across all items. "I recently returned after several years and decided to order my favorite dishes for takeout. The lady who took my order was friendly, and the wait time was reasonable. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that the food quality had declined. The chicken was dry and had an odd taste, and the spaghetti noodles were overcooked.
