beef mami
Angelica L.

Solid beef mami! Was craving the flavors of home and wanted some soup, so I found this place on a quick yelp search. Flavor of the beef was excellent and it was wuite tender. It had one odd fatty piece but I just avoided it. The noodles weren't my fave but weren't bad. Broth was flavorful, and at the price point you cant go wrong. I would def be back!

Palabok

I could've sworn that I just did a review for Mami King this month. Now my newest review isn't showing. I have been coming here since my late teens. My beloved stepmom, used to bring us here on the way home from church. I have fond memories of eating their palabok and literally eating a whole plate of it all by myself. That was back in the day when I could afford to eat like that. Anyways, now that I have my own family, I have started to bring them to Mami King since we love their siopao so much. We don't live close, so we usually grab food or a box of siopao when we're in the area. The last time we dined here, we rushed over right after work. As soon as we arrived, a couple of us ran into the restroom. In one of my previous reviews, I had mentioned how dirty the restroom was many years ago, so I was prepared to enter the same setup. Luckily though, they seemed to have cleaned it up a lot. That was all great until I needed to wash my hands. No hand soap. The container was absolutely dry and didn't seem to have had any soap in at the very least, days. I told the workers, they told each other, didn't seem to be concerned or cared. This hand soap dispenser never got filled. I know this because later on, someone else in my party needed to use the restroom. They came out and had to ask me for a hand sanitizing wipe because there was still no soap. At the time we were there, there was only one other party that was dining. Service - we were happily greeted by our sweet server who we've had many times before. She was a short, long haired, mature lady. She always has a smile on her face, and she is super friendly and attentive to me and my kids. She is so pleasant and I enjoy her company. What we ordered the last time; The family meal deal 1) Siomai - not the usual flavor of Siomai that many of us are used to. My Siomai obsessed kid, did not like this. I didn't either. 2) palabok - good but needed a little more seasoning which was easily fixed by a little fish sauce and of course some lemon. 3) lechon kawali - crispy and served with a soy sauce and vinegar dip. Not as many pieces as they used to serve. 4) Kare kare - served with bagoong. Serving size seems to have shrunk. It's not as peanut buttery as I would have liked, it was ok. 5) Chicken and wonton soup - this wasn't part of the family meal deal that we chose but felt we needed one more item to add for a party of six people. It was ok. Not as tasty as it once was. 6) 12 siopao to go - the best as usual The food seems to have gone downhill a bit. Portion sizes seemed smaller, flavor was lacking. It was very disappointing. Everyone was so excited to eat at, Mami King. With the food being less tasty, it may be a while before we go back to Mami King. Driving over 45 minutes needs to be worth it. This time just wasn't it.

Arroz caldo with lechon

The quality of food is great. The best arroz caldo with lechon . The taste is spot on, the place is simple, just regular restaurant with no frills: you come here for delicious Filipino food. Definitely will go back. The servers were nice and food came out fast. There is parking . It's clean .

Raw wonton

Mami King has always been our go-to for beef wonton mami and siopao, but I had to lower my rating to 3 stars. Last week we ordered takeout and the wonton was raw. Even after reheating, it was still undercooked. We were really disappointed and had to throw them away. Hoping this was just an off day and it won't happen again.

Great customer service , special thanks to Ms. DIANE! Good food and fast service . Good parking spaces as well

The food is always good and delicious . If you are in a hunt of comfort food this is the place to go to and the staff are so friendly.

I've been here more than a few times, and the food holds steady, honest, consistent, and the kind of authentic that doesn't need to shout. The noodle soup, the kind locals call Mami, is the bowl you want when the world feels heavy, and the steamed bun...siopao is comfort in its simplest, most satisfying form. What seals the deal is the human touch: the server who greets me every time, remembers my words, and treats me not like a stranger, but like someone who belongs at the table.

Quality has gone down... like way down. They've had their solid run, and should think about closing shop.

The restaurant is tucked into a corner of a busy parking lot, but I was able to find a spot easily. The outside has a charming look that reminded me of a little island hut , with beautiful trees and green trim that give it a welcoming feel. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the aroma of food cooking in the kitchen. The staff welcomed me as I approached the cafeteria-style food counter. The menu hangs above, making it easy to look through the options. I asked about their veggie egg rolls, which were displayed in a separate case along with lumpia and other tempting treats. While learning about their veggie egg rolls and other dishes, I decided to order the egg rolls and was also drawn to the cantaloupe drink. On a warm day, the thin slices of cantaloupe floating in the drink looked so refreshing. The prices were very reasonable, and the egg roll itself was a great size. It also came with a dipping sauce that paired perfectly. I sat down to enjoy my lunch, and it did not disappoint. The vinegar-based sauce complemented the egg roll nicely, and the sweet cantaloupe drink balanced everything out for a great sweet-and-savory combo. Before leaving, I even bought another egg roll to take home. The staff were friendly, and I really enjoyed my lunch. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.

The food was good and met expectations -- no complaints there. However, I was very disappointed with the $60 delivery fee to travel just 5 miles to the park. That charge felt excessive and left a negative impression. While the food quality was solid, the delivery cost makes me reconsider ordering again.

Great staff! My friend and I stopped into this great shop in Lomita and had a fabulous meal. I love the way they do their poke - you get to pick TWO flavors of meat! How fun! It was all fresh, good selection of ingredients and the taste in the Crunchy Tuna Garlic was superb! We also loved the Spicy Salmon Mayo. I'm a huge tocino fan so when I saw it on their menu I had to get it! I was surprised it came with two fried eggs and was a nice, big portion. We also had to try their Crispy Masubi and this was fantastic. I've had many deep fried masubi versions and this was much nicer than those. This was the best breaded type of masubi I've had. Absolutely loved it and would get it again in a second. Overall, fabulous meal at Poke & More that I would go back for.

I don't trust places that have large menus because it screams "jack-of-all trades, master of none." How do you serve fresh poke while being ready to fire up a Hawaiian bbq mix plate? Parking can be challenging depending on when you go as they share a plaza. I sort of stopped going here a few months ago after they discontinued their Saturday special of buy one pound of poke, get one pound free. That deal definitely made it more worthwhile. Without that promo, the other local poke places outshine this place.

All the cakes are prebaked and packaged, but one can come in to have it decorated with custom lettering while you wait. We've tried a lot of different version from different places all over, and have come to the conclusion that we like the version at Gemmae's, the best (as long as for my wife, they skip adding patis to the pancit). They also have a turo turo steam table here. The yellow curry chicken caught my eye, so got a small container of that. We went here to try their filipino food on a saturday afternoon for lunch…read more The food prices were on the sit down area were on the higher end $20-30+ for normal, traditional mains that did not include rice, drinks, or sides (that is on the higher end for non gourmet filipino food). However, they also had a buffet style "scoop and go service" on the corner that has the same food on the menu but in combination plates and much more affordable pricing ($12+) that also included rice. We did not understand the discrepancy in pricing since it's the same food and pretty much the same sizing (maybe slightly smaller mains) though they may cook the food fresh/heat it up on the sit down area. My group ordered a variety of food including lechon kawali, garlic rice, vegetables, soup, pancit, etc. and they were very tasty and hit home! well seasoned. The place was not very busy so it was quick. We decided to sit in the restaurant with our ordered food since we were the only ones there. I ordered a main that was running low and the employee told me that they had to cook it and I had to wait which was fine with me. The man ended up not giving me much of the new cooked pieces but mostly of the leftovers and added a couple of pieces of the fresh ones, which was fine but with the wait made it disappointing since I could have just gotten some of the old pieces from the beginning and started eating it. Decent place - I would recommend their "scoop and go" service area for fast service and more reasonable pricing. *I heard they have karaoke in the late afternoon, which may change the vibe and atmosphere of this place so we may need to check that out! 3.2/5
