My roommate and I tend to either go sit down or order take out from Nirvana once a month - we usually get the same things (chicken masala, veggie fritters and naan) but it is so good, we order what we love ! Maybe one time we will order something different. Atmosphere is pretty quiet and staff is really friendly. I ate at Nirvana for the first time today. I passed on the buffet and ordered from the menu. I was pleasently surprised at how much I enjoyed the food. The service was exceptional and the owner served us with a special addition to one of our orders. The lamb bread was fantastic, the grilled sampler was very good as well. The staff was friendly and helpful, and service was great. They kept our water glasses filled and checked on us often without being intrusive. The food was a different style than I'm used to -- the sauces/chutneys served with the papadum were thinner than expected, but tasted good. We got the paneer pakora as an appetizer. It was really good, but too salty. The onion naan was good and dusted with spice. It did have bell peppers in it, which weren't listed on the menu, so if you have allergies, beware. The chai was thin and weak - not bad, but not flavorful. It's unsweetened, which isn't a problem, but is something to be aware of. Both of our entrees were overly salty. I had to add extra rice, just to cut the saltiness. The flavors were good, though, and everything was cooked well. We had gulab jamun and kheer for desert. There are two types of gulab jamun that I've come across -- this is the cake-textured type. Both desserts were really good, and probably my favorite part of the meal. Overall, even though the staff was friendly and the service was good, I probably won't come back unless it's just for dessert. The flavors of the food were good, but the saltiness was overpowering. Nirvanna is a delightful habit of my husband and I. In this day it is a sheer treat to find a restaurant were you are known by name and welcomed as if into there own home. ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Chili, Lamb Samosas and Shahi Paneer Chicken Tikka Masala: chicken was tender and cooked well but sauces were not seasoned very well and had a lot more turmeric (an indian spice that overpowers the flavor of the sauce and leaves yellow color on your hands if used more than needed). Which is too bad as the chicken from the oven was great, so I assume their tandoori plate would be a better choice to order till the chef gets the handle on the sauces. Paneer Chili: Overall the dish was a bit confusing (compared to the traditional chili paneer) The gravy was too tart (over use of tomato sauce or possibly ketchup) The paneer (cottage cheese bits) were a bit tough and drier than they are supposed to be. Shahi Paneer: Once again the sauce overused the turmeric base, leading to a slightly bitter aftertaste on a dish that is traditionally supposed to leave a mildly sweet aftertaste. Naan: Naan did not disappoint. Naan was one of the best I have had and I am an Indian food enthusiast and a critic. Lamb Samosa: Lamb samosa crust was flaky and flavorful, Lamb was ok, initial bite is good but lamb leaves a bit of a sour aftertaste. Could be because of the rub used on the lamb. Left overs: Left overs tasted great, naan held up well. Though this place is good, I give this an overall 2.5 star rating because the dishes ordered were popular Indian dishes which a North Indian cuisine should not get wrong. It could have been an off day for the Chef. Will definitely revisit for a re-taste. read more

The ambience was nice. The service was really good. I order the chicken masala mild, and a minced lamb medium, and garlic nan. They were all very delicious. However, the medium spicy level was very mild. I will just have to try hot next time. I will definitely return. read more

I can't say much about the entrees, because I haven't had one in years. I only eat at the buffet now due to when I tend to go there. I do really like the food, though, and the service. They are much better than Evergreen. I can't speak as to whether the food is necessarily high quality or authentic, I just personally enjoy it and so do the people I tend to go with. We have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed the food and service. We recently hired them for a catered event for about 60 people. The food was excellent and they were very well priced! On a large scale the food was perfectly prepared and seasoned. The Marsala chicken was moist, naan chewy and the korma was perfectly spiced. Disappointing. The food was fair, but seemed overpriced for what you get. The curries should come with the option of rice or naan like more other Indian restaurants offer. Seriously, we had already ordered a special rice dish. So we got more rice than needed with our curry, and had to pay extra for naan bread. Also, our server was grumpy. read more

Nirvana is a wonderful restaurant. The food is fantastic and great for everyone. They have a lunch buffet (drink inlcuded with one refill) all through the week, which is a great way to try a restaurant. They have many options to choose from. The dinner buffet on Saturday and Sunday is great as well. I believe they change the buffet options on different days, but all of the food is good. The service is another reason I love this place. I have never had servers who wanted to please so much. The man I believe is the owner is always friendly and helpful. He treats his customers like family. I've been to Corvallis twice now and was leery of eating out since I'm from Seattle and have the choice of excellent restaurants all over the place. Top that off with eating a vegan diet and I was sure I was going to be stuck eating bland rice and veggies at a teriyaki joint. I decided to try Nirvana since it was so close to my hotel...and what a pleasant surprise I had! The food was top notch AND they catered to a vegan diet by even offering to make non-vegan dishes vegan!! LOVE this place...and moving to the area so they will see a lot more of me!! read more

Friendly staff, but shrimp dish smelled like the shrimp had been left out too long. Staff was convinced it was fine, so I didn't want to offend them, but I've had that dish before elsewhere and it didn't smell like that. I got a hair and my date got a hair in her food. My husband and I love coming here!! We're not very adventurous but we mostly get the mango lassi, papadons and tikka masala. My husband is GF and they are very accommodating as most of their food isn't even made with gluten. Great service, and the owner is clearly appreciative of your business. Nirvana is the best Indian place in Corvallis. Their food is always good and the owners are always friendly and welcoming. Their lunch buffet is great and drinks are included in the price! The only downside is that the items in their buffet change, and so you may not find your favorite dish the next time you come back, for example the Chicken Tikka Masala is not always offered. They do always have Tandoori Chicken and Naan, of course. I have been to both Indian places in Corvallis, and I prefer Nirvana many many times over Evergreen. read more

Decidedly meh. I went to Evergreen in Eugene a few years ago and really liked it. That was my introduction to Indian food in America. Since then, I have moved to Cambodia and eat at several Indian restaurants on a regular basis. It has become a favorite ethnic food, so I chose Nirvana while celebrating my birthday in the US today. We had the lunch buffet. I have never had such bland Indian food. I am a big chai fan, so was excited that it came with the meal. It had no spices in it. It was just black tea with milk. The "mango" on the dessert bar was just apples in some kind of sweet yellow sauce. It was good, but definitely not mango. My entire party was disappointed--especially at $9.99 per person. The food was ok, but just ok. I'm sorry we did not drive on to give Evergreen in Corvallis a chance. read more

I lived in Corvallis from 2007 to 2011. I loved their food while I was there. Navratna korma was good. I recall one night, I was returning from Portland and it was really late. I called them and told them about my situation. They don't do deliveries but the owner took my food all the way to my home and left it outside my door so that I had food to eat when I returned late. I went and paid him the next day. So yeah, awesome people and awesome food (I'm vegetarian so I can only speak of their veggie food). :) read more

I don't even know where to start but the worst food I ever had. it was hot red mess. too thin gravy even fruit salad was too thin and I am sure it wasn't fresh at all other then nan. All chicken dishes are loads of red food coloring. bad ambience. bowls were labeled only for desert then owner please let us know where I will serve my chicken curry? they lost of passion for food. We went there on Valentine's Day. They only had the buffet open, and the food that they offered was just not good. It was edible enough to get seconds, but certainly not good enough to satisfy the craving we had for Indian food, or for us to ever go back again. We both tried a bit of everything, and each dish was thin to the point of being watery, and all of them were tepid with regard to both their temperature, their flavor, and their spiciness. Reading older reviews, it looks like they've varied the colors that they use a little bit, but they haven't done anything to improve the food's flavor or texture. We didn't bother trying the desserts because the entrees were so lackluster. We grabbed some fennel from the bowl by the register as we paid, and even it tasted as though it had been left out for far too long. Overall, the trip was a huge disappointment. I've had better Indian food in Eastern Oregon. read more
