Nirvana has been on my list of spots to try in Corvallis for a while, and I'm so glad I finally got to check it out. My friend and I came in on a Wednesday night and were sat right away. There were only 2-3 other tables inside. The 2 of us ordered the lamb samosas, boti kabob, saag paneer, and chicken biriyani (and 2 mango lassi's, unpictured). My favorites were: - Lamb Samosa: perfectly crisp, lamb filling was seasoned beautifully, and the tamarind and mint sauces paired so well - Chicken Biriyani: good amount of spices and seasoning, and the chicken was tender and not at all dry I enjoyed the other dishes as well, but I didn't enjoy them as much as the samosas and Biriyani - boti kabob: this came on a sizzling plate, and I feel like this made the lamb really dry. It was pretty tough to chew, which was a bit disappointing - saag paneer: this dish was good, but could've used more flavor. It paired fairly nicely with the garlic naan, which gave it some more flavor I thought was lacking. read more

One of the worst Indian restaurant dining experience in my life. The food was terrible. Biriyani does not seem to be made out of basmati rice, it is likely some cheap brand rice. No flavor of an authentic Indian recipe. Samosas taste like something else. They charge extra for pickle!! Tiny ketchup cup size. They never bothered to check on the food or the table. The ambience is very poor with some bland setting. They throw the straws on the table and it does not even have paper covering, I guess saving costs on straws. All round low quality experience. In addition they asked us to leave the restaurant 10 minutes before published close time as they wanted close down the restaurant. Super rude and disrespectful. Never ever visiting this place again!! read more

Ordered $90 worth of food for takeout. Aloo Gobi, chicken tikka masala, vegetable korma, vegetable biryani, vegetable pakora, and several chapati and several garlic naan. All the main dishes were poorly spiced and had hardly any flavor compared to normal Indian food. Also, there was absolutely no spiciness, no heat whatsoever, which is pretty strange and something I've never experienced before. I'll take that back, the pakora had some heat, but they were dense and so dry on the inside they were crumbly. All the naan and chapati were undercooked and tasted like raw dough. We tried toasting them when we got home, but it was a lost cause $25 worth of naan into the trash. All in all, it was terrible. I would happily buy a jar off any grocery store shelf or a box of frozen Indian food than eat this. Fortunately, there are other Indian restaurants in the area. I'll give an extra star because the woman who greeted us smiled and met the most basic expectations of customer service, but no more. I'm fine with that and they don't loose points for that. read more

I returned here for solo Christmas Eve dinner because I liked the food on my previous trip a year ago (I don't live in Corvallis) and also because the people here are so nice. I considered maybe giving it another shot and actually dining in, but ultimately decided against it. Ordered chicken curry and did not expect the consistency that I received. Unlike every other curry I've consumed in my 20 years on this Earth, this curry was not creamy and resembled a thin soup. The food here is consistent. We've went here multiple times and tried a few items. I like the Lamb Samosa from the appetizer menu which has seasoned ground lamb wrapped in a crisp that is complementary to the lamb. The Korma is good but still has a minor spice if that's an issue. My wife tried the chicken and mushroom which was not spicy. I always try a new dish and they've all been great. The family that runs this place is awesome. The service is provided by the parents and kids with low pressure, attentiveness, and the, I assume, older son is quick to chat and laugh if you want. Never had a bad experience here and it's refreshing how authentic the food is. read more

I ate here for lunch about a month or so ago. It was a Saturday and I was happy to see that they had the lunch buffet on the weekend. The food was good. The buffet had limited selections but enough for lunch, mostly chicken or veggie dishes. Everything was tasty, not very spicy though but they have hot sauces if you need to spice it up. This restaurant is perfectly named. The smell wafting from the building is extremely tantalizing, and we wanted to go for about a year now. We walked in and were greeted with bright decor, beautiful paintings, and lovely music. The smell was even better inside. I was very impressed by the food. It was the best Indian food I've ever had. I made this yelp account for the sole purpose of giving Nirvana a good review!! This is our FAVORITE place to eat in Corvallis, we get to-go from here at least once a week. The garlic naan and freshly cooked rice are delicious enough to eat plain. You can't go wrong with the Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Korma, or Chicken Tikka Masala. Their curries are so creamy, perfectly spiced, and filling! The service is amazing, the restaurant is cute, and the family who owns it is so friendly. Really well priced and good Indian food for Corvallis! Got take out and food came out really fast. Got the saag paneer, garlic naan, and tandoori chicken. Great deal! Enough food for two servings/people for ~$20. Saag paneer was well done and not too much of a purée, the naan was warm and buttery. They give you a ton of tandoori chicken, not just a few stingy pieces like other restaurants. Definitely would come again and ask for spicier. A surprising but good find! read more

Very disappointing. Had not had Indian food after moving back to Oregon. First, no lunch menu. This is not a fancy restaurant, I did not expect dinner prices at lunch time. Second, the food was okay at best. I had the lamb curry. Did not thrill me. The curry was bland, and naan was not served with it. It just seemed overpriced for what you got. read more

This actually may have been the worst Indian food I've ever eaten. I come from an Indian family and have grown up eating Indian food so trust me when I say this place does not serve true Indian food. I ordered the chili chicken with garlic naan and man was I disappointed. The chili chicken came in a container of watery curry and was way too sweet to be called chili chicken. It's almost as if the chef added sugar in place of actual spices and masala! The naan was too thick and undercooked to the point where I got a stomach ache from the raw dough. Nirvana is in our family's top five favorite places to eat. I crave their diverse buffet, and perfect naan. I have never been disappointed by any of my dining experiences here! I eat here as often as I can. The food is amazing! The best Indian food in town! The buffet comes with a drink and is a great deal! If you order food outside of buffet hours you can get whatever level of spicy you like. I always get extra spicy. You can't leave a review without mentioning how friendly and nice the owners are. The family is so nice and always smiling when I come in. These people are here every day of the week working their buts off to bring the best Indian food in Corvallis to the table. I eat Nirvana because the food is delicious, but also because I know they truly put their hearts into this place and it definitely shows in the quality. Go eat!!! Worst indian food ever. Indian food is known for the variety of spices and tastes. But in this restaurant, they are using only one type of spices. Red spices on samousa, rice, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala. And it is not even good. However, after getting a dark red biryani rice, I showed pictures to the owner of how the indian biryani rice should look like every where, i googled it and showed her 100 of pics, that biryani rice is yellow. This little place was a pleasant surprise, a nice refuge from bustling 9th street. Quiet, soft Indian music and a terrific lunch buffet with items not often found, like spicy pickled onions. The sauces are really good and everything tastes fresh with inviting appearance.
