This is absolutely ridiculous!  I heard the so-called "Royal Bar-and-Grill" and "Nick's Soul Food" in Albany, Oregon were serving up some decent grub. So, like a normal person, I decided to give them a shot. I called them, not once, but multiple times over the course of several days--both phone numbers--and not a single answer. What a complete lack of professionalism. It's like they couldn't care less about their customers. But, hey, I thought maybe they were super busy, right? Fine, I checked their Facebook posts--nothing there to suggest they were closed. Still, no response. Fast forward to Friday, I'm sick of waiting around, so I drive all the way from South Salem to their location. I'm expecting to finally get a taste of what all the fuss is about. I get there, and guess what? The food truck that's supposed to be open? Completely shut down, doors locked, nothing happening. But the Royal Bar-and-Grill looks open. So, I think, "Great, maybe this is the moment!" I start walking in, only to be greeted by a handwritten sign on the door: "Closed for Valentine's." Hold on a minute--this was not posted anywhere near the earlier time I was checking. So, I ask the guy standing outside, who I recognize as Nick the so-called chef, "Are you seriously closed?" He responds, "Yeah, we've been posting about this for a month, selling $150 tickets." What?! I've been checking Facebook for THREE days, and nothing, absolutely nothing, about them being closed as in nobody else could dine there other than ticket holders. I mean it's a bar not fine dining, And when I check again on the way back, guess what? They finally post about it just an hour before I showed up with actual words saying they would be closed do all other patrons. Unbelievable!!! This is an absolute joke. You can't just ignore your customers and post things last minute, expecting everyone to just magically know what's going on. The fact they don't answer their phones, don't update their information properly, and then lie about it is beyond disrespectful. And for what? A $150 Valentine's ticket that you can't even be bothered to communicate properly about? No amount of good food can make up for this level of incompetence. It's disgraceful. Don't waste your time. If you want to eat at a place that treats customers like garbage, sure, go ahead. But as for me, I'll never be back. If you've seen this kind of nonsense at other places, you know exactly where this is headed--out of business, quick. So, good luck with that, "Royal Bar-and-Grill" and "Nick's Soul Food." You've lost a customer for good!

Sunshine/Suncoast Salad (not sure of the name). Blackened shrimp, spring leaf mix, white figs, toasted almonds, blue cheese.

Calling all big backs and food lovers alike. This is not a drill. Speaking as someone born and raised in the south, this is some of the best Cajun soul food I've ever had. The flavors hit, the beer selection is amazing! Do yourself and your tastebuds a favor and head over to The Royal for something delicious. (The salad I had was either the Suncoast or Sunshine, and it had white figs, blue cheese, toasted almonds, and I added blackened shrimp. This was incredible and I will order it again. 10/10. The cornmeal battered and then fried deviled eggs were so delicious I haven't been able to quit thinking about them. 10/10 #bigback) I didn't get a picture before I ate it all, but I had a slice of the banana pudding pie, and dear lord y'all ‍. 10/10) This is not an add, just a bigback sharing a solid spot. -- at The Royal Cafe.

Friendly service, newly opened. Food a bit on the saltier side but tasted good. They have Indian, Mediterranean and American food items on the menu

It's all gone, and it was enough.

The menu has a large selection of standard Indian food fare, including vegetarian and meat dishes. It's for your Greatest Hits of Indian food without getting two deep, although except for one snack of fish fritters, the only meat available is chicken. That being said, I'd like to try every one of the meat dishes. Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry, Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Biryani...yes, please. My partner FINALLY got me to a place to enjoy Indian food. As this was my first time here, though, I opted for the most basic of dishes and went with the Butter Chicken. Chicken pieces in a tomato curry sauce, this is usually a signature dish of any restaurant and how a place makes it seems to largely determine how good everything else is, in my opinion. So ordering was fast and easy. I was asked how spicy I wanted it. I said "as spicy as you can make it." The man at the window smirked at that and I confirmed I was serious, and saw him wrote "spicy +" on my ticket, so I think he took it seriously then. Honestly, so many times my partner and I ask for "spicy" and get a bland mild....like we don't know what spicy is. To be fair, I know a lot of places get complaints for being "too spicy" when someone doesn't known what they're doing, but we really like it hot and don't need to be protected. Anyways, I ordered that and some garlic naan. When my order was ready, it came bagged up with my food, a paper plate, and a knife and fork disposable bag kit. The chicken itself was in a plastic sealed cup and there was a box of basmati rice. It was also very hot, temperature wise. I waited for my partner to get her seafood and then I went to town. Long story short (too late), it was good. There was A LOT of chicken, the curry was very spicy without being overpowering, but I definitely felt it. It was a hot day outside and the food did it's job of making me sweat and cooling me down. The sauce was wonderful and was great with the rice as well as why dipping the naan. The naan was standard but had a good, not heavy, garlic flavor. A bit dry but it is an unleavened bread. I dipped it in the curry and it was quite good. So far this has been one of my favorite meals at the Barn, and I'm looking forward to going back and trying the tandoori and the biryani.

She had eaten here once before with a friend and told me the food was life-changing. Well, she wasn't kidding! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, from the potato pakora and garlic naan to the chicken makhani, shrimp korma, and even the rice. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the portions were generous enough to take home for another meal or two. Talk about a win! The ambience was beautiful and, I'd say, definitely a little fancier than other Indian restaurants I've been to. We were surprised to be the only customers when we walked in for dinner, so I'm not sure if they're more of a takeout spot, but the food certainly deserves so much love! I'll definitely be making it a point to eat here a few more times before my daughter graduates. There were only 2-3 other tables inside. The 2 of us ordered the lamb samosas, boti kabob, saag paneer, and chicken biriyani (and 2 mango lassi's, unpictured). My favorites were: - Lamb Samosa: perfectly crisp, lamb filling was seasoned beautifully, and the tamarind and mint sauces paired so well - Chicken Biriyani: good amount of spices and seasoning, and the chicken was tender and not at all dry I enjoyed the other dishes as well, but I didn't enjoy them as much as the samosas and Biriyani - boti kabob: this came on a sizzling plate, and I feel like this made the lamb really dry. It was pretty tough to chew, which was a bit disappointing - saag paneer: this dish was good, but could've used more flavor. It paired fairly nicely with the garlic naan, which gave it some more flavor I thought was lacking.

Let me tell you, it was worth the wait. When it was ready, I could smell the aromatics thru the light breeze and it had me floating over. It's located in a little food truck alley on Main. It's the second food truck in the row so it's easy to spot. The employee (owner maybe?) walked into the truck when we arrived and took our order immediately. I ordered a mango lassi, butter chicken, and plain naan. My partner ordered the tandoori chicken and garlic naan. The food took about half an hour to come out which was fine as there was covered seating right there. We sat and called my partner's mom for Mother's Day. The food came out hot and smelled absolutely delicious. We took it home, about a 20 minute drive, and it was still hot when we ate. The mango lassi was good but a little small for the price. I finished it within 10 minutes of getting it. The butter chicken was fantastic. It was spiced well and was incredibly tender and flavorful. The rice it came with was also great. The plain naan was delicious and paired perfectly with the butter chicken. My partner found the tandoori chicken to be dry but I suspect that's what the yogurt sauce was for. He doesn't like yogurt so he didn't try it, but I think it probably would have been less dry with the sauce. His garlic naan was also good, he ended up having some left over which I put with my leftover butter chicken and am planning on having for lunch today. The food truck alley was quiet and clean with good seating. We didn't eat there since like I said we took our food home with us, but I think we would have enjoyed eating there too. There are plenty of covered picnic tables to choose from. I didn't see a bathroom nearby, not surprising since it's just a food truck alley. Overall I really enjoyed the food from this spot and definitely want to go back. It wasn't super expensive, and while it looks like a small amount of food it is actually incredibly filling and you will likely have leftovers for another day. Definitely stop by and give this food truck a try if you're ever in the area!
