Don't come for the food. I've tried several things trying to find something decent. I want so badly for this to be a great place. Hamburgers have thin soggy bun. The meat in them is disgusting. I've tried a few melts. One was slimy and greasy. The other had hardly any ingredients on it and didn't include the sun dried tomatoes that were supposed to be on it. They didn't fix but I got a discount. We tried the charcuterie board and it looked like a 3 year old put it together with lunch meat from the school cafeteria. The two ladies working here even admitted that one goes to the back to quickly cook up whatever's necessary. No dedicated kitchen staff. Vast beer selection, and that's what gets the single star. Also, even though the quesadilla is listed as coming with pico de gallo on the side, we were forced to pay an additional 50 cents for whatever can of expired salsa they just opened up in the back. A hidden gem in the heart of Albany!!! Traveling through for business, and I found this place using a google search, "pub in Albany, OR". Amazing decor, you feel that you are in a relaxed pub. Clean place, and really well-decorated with historic garage pieces. 54 beers on tap, and they serve wine as well! Great pub food selection like sandwiches, sliders, bratwurst, nachos, "street tacos," etc. This place is super relaxed, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is great. I had the nachos, and they served it food cart style. For approx. $9, they were HUGE and full of meat and cheese and the extras I asked for. By far the best place to get a good draft beer and a snack in town. Their beer selection (54 taps!) rivals much more pumped up establishments up and down the willamette valley, the outdoors seating is nice in the summer (we were there on the 4th of July for an afterlunch drink!) and the service is friendly and quick. The beers can be a little bit expensive (not all of them), but food is cheap so it compensates well ;o) Try the mac and cheese and the brat! I spent about 2 total weeks in Albany, Oregon for work and during my stay, I looked online and came across the Growler. I don't have enough good things to say about this place. Incredible food for really cheap and great beer! Portions aren't super big but great pub and grub. The atmosphere is very laid back and the bartenders were very helpful. This is not a place for people to be stupid but for people to relax and chill after a long hard days work. I never once felt pressured to stop tasting beers which is a big deal for me. They have a big menu and so it's a little overwhelming at first. This is only drinks on tap people so you won't get any bottles here but they have an extensive variety of beer and also wine, ciders, and kombucha. (I'm not a fan of those other ones but if you are, you should definitely come here because they have a large amount of those as well). I came here one of the first days I was staying in town and I found it hard to go anywhere else the rest of the trip. Tracy the owner is a very nice guy. He gave me advice on places to tour while I was there and was super polite every time I walked in. Later on the trip I'd come in and he'd call me by name. The bartenders were always very polite and super helpful. Super dead when I went in; maybe 3 other twosomes. 4. Two dudes working, one seemed new; nba game was about to come on. 5. ordered beer and food (reuben and vegggie plate) 6. my friend ordered tacos no problem with service 7. i waited quite a while for my food. 8. walked and asked where my food was after about 20 minutes. 9. brought out my sandwich and it was okay 10. waiting another 10-15 min for my veggie plate (should have been brought out before my sandwich probably) 11. Asked them where my veggie plate was (all this time they are both chatting with the patron at the bar and watching the nba game. again there are hardly any customers inside) 12. brought it out in 5 min. 13. brought wrong dressing (i wanted TI) 14. veggie plate was supposed to have snap peas. none were on there. Veggies looked like they had just came from a bag, and did not look that clean. cauliflower was slimy nasty. 15. brought wrong dressing for 2nd time 16. finally brought right dressing for 3rd time. 17. Only open for about five weeks, this is a great tasting room with a huge selection of beers, available in pints or tasting flights (choice of four or six tastes). When we visited, they had around 30 beers on tap, along with a local wine, a few ciders, root beer, and kombucha. Although they don't serve food, they offer peanuts and pretzels to snack on, and the pizza place down the street will deliver pizza or appetizers (bread sticks, potatoes, chicken wings) with a $20 min. order. A very cool atmosphere with high ceilings and weathered corrugated metal paneling and garage/car-themed decor. There are a few picnic tables for larger groups and a few cocktail tables for seating, along with outdoor seating out back. We visited with a large group for an after-work function and they were extremely accommodating, offering tastes of different beers so people could find what they liked. This is a great spot to try a number of different beers (both local and out of state), and it'll surely become a local favorite.
