Great beer selection and super friendly staff. The only downside is their hours are inconsistent.

It's just non flavored cream with fizz water Truffle fries: some of the best textured fries I've had. Really crispy on the outside. Could be perfect if the truffle flavor is a bit stronger Creole Prawn: the bread is really crispy. The shrimp and sauce isn't very Cajun for my taste. More of a northwest interpretation. Pretty mild Pork porterhouse: huge chunk of pork. The outside is a bit dry. Inside is pretty tender. However, it's lacking flavor. The tomato sauce isn't adding much flavor either. Top sirloin: it's ok. Wanted to order the burger but it's sold out. Just a normal steak. Nothing special Cream brûlée: love this one. Huge size for just 7$. Silky smooth custard with fresh fruit. The only downside is the sugar on top is a bit burned Service is good. Waitress is very nice.

The sea bass tacos that my friend ordered were amazing (I stole one as one does, d'uh). The soft tortilla did not maintain its structural integrity - perhaps doubling up on those or using a tortilla that could use handling is my only feedback on it. I enjoyed my ahi tuna small plate. I couldn't quite figure out if they cook it and chill it and just keep it chilled until someone orders it or if it was cooked to order and then chilled right away. Either way, it is good. It really is a small plate though. A couple of bites, not really a shareable appetizer. My friend and I split a beet salad and added the steak protein to it and we loved it. Can't wait to come back and try other things on the menu.

There are not a lot of other dining options in the area, so Fireside is a pretty easy choice. The food is just OK. Definitely stuff that is mass-produced and heated on-site. Prices are mercifully low, so one doesn't feel as though they've been ripped off. There is a big selection of non-alcoholic beverages, which I appreciated. The real standout here was the friendliness of the staff. Everybody I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. There was a band playing during my visit, and they seemed to be as "bar band" as bar bands get. I was the only person who applauded after each song, which was weird to me. I'd have hoped that staff, at least, would have applauded as well.

In the last couple of visits, though, it's different. My past history here prevents me from giving it a 2-star review. I know there has been a management change, and it shows. Some of my favorite staff have departed, seeking greener pastures. The reason for this review now is my most recent purchase ... a $17 glass of Pudding River Pinot Gris. When I found out the price as I cashed out, I felt robbed. I can drive less than 9 miles away and buy a whole bottle for $25. My previous glass of wine that evening was an $8 chardonnay from another local winery. I figured the Pinot Gris couldn't be much more than the Chard, especially one from Pudding River, which I've personally visited so I know their bottle prices. So, before you buy anything at the Fireside Lounge, ask the price. Don't be surprised (aka robbed) as I was.

We were seated accordingly but were then moved to the back of the room where no one was because our friend laughed too loudly. When we inquired why...we were told the comedian was too sensitive. WHAT? We are incredibly easy people. Docile, easy, etc. we asked the "worker" and he stated that the comedian is literally too sensitive and will walk off the stage if you laugh too loud and that they need to build contacts to build their business. One positive, the onion rings were good. So come here for that?... Zero points for me. I will NEVER be back here. UPDATE: I was approached by workers who stated they saw my review and said we were no longer welcome.

We decided to pay premium ticket prices, and upon seating we were ushered to the far back where no one else was. We were not given an explanation other than our friend had a loud laugh. (Not heckling, just a naturally loud laugh) We felt wronged due to the fact that we were a group who wished to buy drinks, food and enjoy a comedy show; however, at the end of the night, we were told that the comedian would not appreciate our friends laugh and would walk off the stage. (Odd behavior and not fitting for a comedian.) Apparently, the comedian was very sensitive and made us recluse to the background. This was a very disappointing experience. All our friend did was laugh. No refund offered btw. He does have a deep laugh, but so what. That is the point of comedy. The fact that he was asked to sit back in the very last row, is not fair and allows me to write this as a less than a star. I would never recommend this certain spot to anybody who wants to have a good night on a weekend. I wish I could give less than a 1 star review. I'll never go to this club again. The atmosphere is dark and not very classy where you wait for the show to begin. Finally, they ushered us into a room that was more appropriate, however not much better. Seriously, Less than one star. Do anything but go to. Get a pizza. Stay home. Just avoid this place with the "ownership." We weren't offered refunds for our premium tickets when we were put to the back of the room. Worse, the owner or manager came back once our friend posted a one star review. No joke, he came over and said, "She just gave a one star review kick them out." Well, that's not the only one star review buddy. Treat your patrons better and don't single out and embarrass them. Not once did they attempt to make it right.

People who came without a reservation were told that there's about an hour wait or they could sit at the bar level on the first floor. There's also a second bar on the second floor where the main dining room is up a flight of stairs. Service was great and we were lucky enough to sit by the window overlooking the sea lions, the water, and the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Food wise, it was mostly 5 star. I'll start with the thing that wasn't, and that was the deviled eggs (you get 3) with a lightly fried shrimp. The shrimp was overcooked, lukewarm, and didn't really add anything. But other than that, everything else was really good. The highlight was the Umpqua oysters on the half shell. We went through a dozen and a half. The oysters are sweeter, no briny. They're not huge but not tiny either like Kusshi oysters. It came with 3 different sauces. Another highlight was the whole dungenous crab...so fresh. Poke salad, garlic brussel sprouts, Yellowtail Hamachi, and Lingcod were also pretty good. If I'm ever in the area, I would definitely return.

The downtown location is convenient and has a lot of parking and food options. It is a secure building with strong and fast wifi, plenty of space, and quiet booths for meetings. There are multiple printers but they're all out of paper. While there are a lot of spaces for working, most do not have outlets. My new house is incredibly rural, and upon realizing how laughable satellite internet is, necessity called for a more reliable form. Co.W is about 45 minutes away, but the most cost effective coworking space option, so they easily won. They offer a variety of membership options from offices and dedicated desks, to flex seats where you just settle in any available space. All plans offer some conference room access, use of the printer, and even free beverages and snacks. It's easy to sign up online and you enter via the two available doors using your cell phone, so I'd actually used the space for a good few weeks before I ever met the owner. I did have some questions I sent via email, and he always responded promptly. The interior of Co.W is gorgeous. I don't know what the space used to be, but it's an incredible old building with exposed brick, gorgeous hardwood floor, and even a fireplace! My favorite spot was along a little alcove with a big window and skylight. There is plenty of room with both an upstairs and downstairs space. They have tables where you can stand, or more traditional desks, and the chairs were all quite comfortable. I really enjoyed the culture of Co.W and everyone I met here was so nice and friendly. Working there, I felt like a very cool urban gal with the convenient downtown and just off the highway location. The whole area is very walkable and I enjoyed many lunch breaks wandering the streets and checking out adorable shops or picking up goodies from excellent eateries and bakeries (Hello Little Cannoli!). My reason for discontinuing use of Co.W was through no fault of theirs. After working there for about two months, (a maximum of maybe eight days a month), the city notified me that I would be required to purchase a parking pass. Not only that, but the parking pass only allows parking on the roof of the parking garage. Figuring in the cost of the pass with the price of membership, my cheapest coworking option was suddenly much pricier. Adding in gas, wear and tear on my vehicle and so forth, I eventually moved to Alt in McMinnville. Now, if I lived in Salem, Co.W would have absolutely remained my co-working space of choice. I might have found an alternative means of parking, though!
