The Tangent INN is pushing 90 years old, and I love the it for the historical aspect. It is definitely top notch American bar food. Lot's of different types of people, from farmers to bikers and everyone in between. We stopped in for a bite to eat, Karaoke was on the loud speaker and pool balls were being racked. The guests seem to be friendly. Servers were friendly enough too. We ordered a Steak and a Burger. And the fact that the food came out piping hot was incredible. You do not know how many high end places I have gone to where the food is lukewarm. And I LOVE FRESH COOKED HOT food, skillet to table. Everything was delicious, and it would have received 5 stars but my steak was more of a medium even though I asked for medium rare. Great flavor though, spiced well, butter on top was the kicker. I can not say much for the burger, it wasn't mine, but I can tell you, it was gone before I was done. Looked really appetizing too. Did not have any alcohol, only water, but I would go back there again, and you should too. I love supporting local.

Tasty food and fast service. It's a great place for playing pool and socializing with friends and family.

Excellent food and service. Really rare to find anymore. We got there at nine on a Sunday. We will be back!

    No one that concerns you

(This is all satire we had a great time) Came here to meet a man about an envelope. Was pleasantly surprised that I left with more than that, good fries, lots of crispy cheese, and great service. No one was concerned with our identities just good food. A lot of under the table deals go on in my life but never have the under tables been so clean! Will be back in the future (or not I'm none of your concern)

I went, I ate, and I conquered the Kraken challenge! As my first food challenge, I'm really happy I was able to do it here at the tangent inn. The food was extremely delicious, and the people and their warm, happy interactions seriously made my day! I came in extremely anxious and scared, but the cheers and support I got for challenging this burger really made my day! Everyone was happy and having fun, and I enjoyed every second of the experience! Thank you to all that was here on July 2nd, 2021!

Rainy Day, Great Bar Seat, and One Memorable Meal…read more It was a cold, rainy Oregon afternoon when I stumbled into Castor, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. Alongside that I ordered the chorizo clam chowder, which brought a creamy base with just the right amount of spice from the chorizo. Comfort food with a little personality. For dinner I switched gears and ordered the Creole Sour. This one really stood out. Bright citrus up front, a smooth bourbon backbone, and a subtle spice note that tied perfectly into the Creole theme. It had that classic sour balance, tart, slightly sweet, and refreshing without overpowering the drink. Dinner was the gumbo with hot bread and butter, and it delivered. Deep flavor, a nice slow warmth from the spice, and hearty enough to make the rainy Oregon weather feel like part of the experience. To finish things off I kept it simple with a neat pour of Ben Holladay, which made for the perfect nightcap. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. This is the kind of place that works whether you're dining solo, meeting friends, out with someone special, or grabbing dinner with a group. The price point landed right where it should be for the quality of food, cocktails, and service. If you're in Corvallis and can grab a seat at the bar at Castor, take it. Order a cocktail, settle in, and enjoy the ride. It turned a rainy afternoon into one heck of a meal.

The shrimp and grits was bland and not very appealing. The frites were what seemed like a lot of small pieces and bits you'd find in the bottom leftovers of a big bag of pre-cut frozen French fries and, frankly, were overcooked. The French onion soup tasted almost burned, not rich and deeply flavored as would be expected of such an item. There was nothing about the meal that screamed or even whispered "fine dining" except for the price. We won't be back.

This was a trip to the Sweet Home, Oregon area to hike McDowell Creek Falls. (Highly recommend the falls hike). On our way, we stopped at The Point, just outside of Sweet Home. Not much to look at from the outside and kind of a diner atmosphere inside. Somewhere, I read you had a "view" to the water. As you can see from the picture, it's a view (sort of) to Foster Reservoir. OK. However, the food and service were surprisingly good! I ordered the special of the day, a Chipotle Burger. Cooked perfectly with 1/3 lb local beef patty, bacon, chipotle sauce, lettuce, red onion and accompanied by some very good fries. My wife had the grilled cheese and it was awesome as well. Her only complaint was it had too much bacon. Yes, you heard that right, too much bacon. I also have been trying NA beers and the only brand I have found I like is Deschutes out of Bend. They had a Golden that I hadn't heard of and it was, in true Deschutes fashion, very good. Our server was Becky and she was amazing. She greets the regulars by name, was very helpful and informative, but not too chatty. If we were in this area again, we would definitely go back. Without hesitation. Great find!

The small pieces were the only drawback. Sweet potato fries rounded out our meal. Melted marshmallows with some cinnamon or pumpkin spice would have been a great accompaniment with the sweet potato fries. Dessert was their luscious coconut cream pie. The crust was crunchy, pie itself was smooth and just slid down your throat into belly heaven. A must try for sure! Atmosphere was calm with a few other diner. Flies swirled about overhead in the main dining room and saw cobwebs hanging on a lamp by the window.
