Healthy food, but some issues. Ordered delivery recently and tried two bowls, a salad, and a smoothie. Thai bowl was pretty good, but it lacked flavor overall. Painfully healthy was the description we came up with. Lebanese bowl was better, the lentils and rice were a good combo. But the chicken was tough and very hard to eat. I assume it was over cooked. Kale Caesar salad was not good, the kale had the ribs left on and hadn't been massaged to be tender. It was like eating a bale of hay. "Mango lassi" smoothie lacked any mango flavor, more of a pineapple and orange base. Not creamy, came chunky and clogged the paper straw after one sip. I did finish it and it was nice flavored, but not at all what I felt I'd ordered. Nice ideas at this place, the selection of bowls look just like what we want for an easy healthy dinner. This bowl looked awesome (even in a to-go container). It was so good, and filling, and only 610 calories! A great vegetarian option. The only thing I would warn is that the Kale is sautéed. So if you don't like warm Kale I would make a note of that. Also, I love sauce on mine so I would order extra sauce (it's basically a mild green salsa). I ordered the Thai mini burrito which had tofu, peanut sauce, spinach, jasmine rice, cilantro lime slaw, and some quick-pickles. I also had the Korean bbq bowl which also had tofu. It also had a ton of broccoli, brown rice (or you can get the jasmine), cilantro lime slaw, quick-pickles, and some Korean bbq sauce. There was a very generous portion of tofu in both dishes and it was delicious. My husband also ordered the Thai mini burrito but got a larger bubba burrito as well. He liked the bubba burrito better which was full of grilled chicken breast, pinto beans, jack cheese, brown rice, corn, Pico de Gallo, and chipotle bbq sauce. My son enjoyed his cheese quesadilla and my niece enjoyed her simple green salad with roasted pepper sumac dressing. Service here was wonderful, very friendly and quick. I tried Laughing Planet for the first time on Easter Sunday. Firstly, the staff was very friendly and the food was prepped fairly quickly. We got our food to-go so we could eat them on the picnic bench around the corner by the river. My partner had the Bollywood bowl with tempeh instead of chicken. It didn't have a lot of flavor, and it was fairly low sodium, but it was a nice, healthy lunch after our walk on the trail that morning. I ordered the buffalo cauliflower wrap and subbed the vegan cheese for regular cheese. Unfortunately, the buffalo sauce pooled to the bottom of my wrap; I would have enjoyed it more if the sauce was distributed evenly throughout. Also, the wrap is served hot, so I think if I were to try it again, I'd definitely ask if they could serve it cold. We also had the lemonade, which was a bit sweet. Was here during the massive heat wave and in dire need of a smoothie/juice after rock climbing. The flavor combinations are fun and bright - mango peach lemon, etc. The only reason for a 4 vs 5 star is that the smoothie was more like a juice and either needed the fruit to be more frozen so it had that consistency of a smoothie. This time, they lost some items from my order, and I had to ask where they were. Then, the smoothies my friend and i ordered were VERY watery. Usually the smoothies are thick, quality and actually worth $8. The smoothies we received were jus diluted with apple juice and watery chunks of fruit. (the food was okay). I got a free cookie for the trouble, but when we showed them the smoothies (that we didn't even drink more than two drinks of) they were unable to issue a partial refund, seemed blasé and just overall uncaring about the quality of their smoothies declining. A girl working there tried to make an excuse that it was watery this time because of how they measured the ingredients. Yea, measured so little it was the worst smoothie ever, n not worth $8. Laughing planet welcomes you with a pretty cool vibe when you walk in the door. I went with one of their bowls which was prepared in a reasonable amount of time. The quality of the food is very good, but the flavor of the chicken felt a bit flat. And overall, that was the impression I was left with. It didn't have the depth of flavor I was expecting. The quality of the food was great though, so you feel like you're getting good fuel for you body. But the taste experience wasn't quite as exciting as I was hoping for. My daughter (high school age) felt the same way. Certainly edible and worth eating, just not exciting to eat. Service was good, nothing special but certainly not bad. Now they have lots of cool sounding bowls and entrees to try. So I can definitely see it might just take finding that combo that really does it for ya. While I was left with the feeling that I wasn't looking forward to or excited about eating there again. I would definitely be open to giving them another try. It did take longer than what I would have anticipated for our food to come to the table. It was not very busy when we were there. No big deal though. After they dropped off the food, no one ever came by again. Granted this is an order at the counter, you get a number to put on your table, they deliver it. They also give you a receipt requesting a tip. I always tip and would have expected someone to come by and ask if everything was ok or if we needed something. We ordered Laughing Planet for a working lunch with my team. I was so excited to see a sumac salad on the menu - wow! I LOVE sumac, and have never seen it on a menu. For those who don't know, sumac is a red, lemony/sour citrus like product from the flowering part of a large bushy plant. It can be gathered and mixed with water and sugar for an unusual but delicious alternative to lemonade. Well, this salad had the sumac in the dressing, supposedly, and I expected a tart, lightly sweetened vinaigrette, much like the more known balsamic vinaigrette. But, sadly, I could not detect any sumac in the dressing (or anywhere else) which was a thick, mayo-heavy, under seasoned disappointment. It was also supposed to have curried cauliflower (no curry, or any flavor at all, detectable in the cauli), and roasted chickpeas for texture and crunch. These were SO HARD I was afraid I'd break a tooth. This is an example of a place taking advantage of trendy ingredients, calling them 'healthy', charging 3 times more than they should, and forgetting all about actual enjoyment or tastiness. Very disappointing. My co-workers all felt the same - almost no one finished their dishes. All in all, a good idea, just lacking in execution and flavor. If you enjoy plain kale and tooth breaking chickpeas, go for it! read more
