Recently had brunch at Nikanos in Ogunquit & was thoroughly impressed, so I had to come back for dinner ASAP. I'm obsessed with Greek cuisine. The cocktails were stunning & delicious. We were served soft bread, & we also ordered calamari, flaming saganaki, & the trio of dips. Everyone raved about their entrees; I personally loved the lamb shank with feta mashed potatoes, pasta, & flatbread. Everything was seasoned to perfection. Can't wait to come back to try something new.

Breads are the highlights. Tzaziki too. Braised lamb was very good. Shish kebabs too. Greek owner is a great guy. Outdoor dining on street is best. Open year round too.

This was a very nice Greek upscale restaurant. Bar was very good. The service was excellent also. Tables are fairly close together. Definitely delightful atmosphere and the food was extremely good.

We discovered Nikanos this summer, and we've already been back three times! It's the perfect spot for dinner before catching a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. I'm usually all about trying new restaurants, but in a town filled with tourist traps, it's tough to find a locally owned place that serves quality food at fair prices. Nikanos doesn't disappoint! From the spanakopita and lamb meatballs to their famous pastitsio (think Greek lasagna) and moussaka, everything has been delicious. The drinks are a bit of a hit or miss -- sometimes inconsistent -- but I do love the fact that their cocktail menu is quite extensive. The service is fantastic, even when they're packed. We like to give ourselves about 1.5 to 2 hours before a show to relax and enjoy our meal, and that's always worked well. The servers are incredibly attentive. The vibe is totally Ogunquit! The outdoor seating is awesome during the summer and fall (they have heaters for cooler nights), and they often have a live band. It's the perfect background music because you can still hear each other talk. I love sitting outside, soaking in the energy of the city. Pro tip: definitely call ahead for reservations since they get busy!

What a great find in Ogunquit, Maine. We came upon it because it was the first parking space on the dinner hour on July 4 we could find. They literally squeezed us in and glad they did! I never had Nouveau Mediterranean before! We started with the spicy calamari. Perfectly battered, fried and served with roasted onion and hot peppers and some garbanzos sprinkled with a wonderful mild feta to cool the heat a bit. It just got better from there. My date had beef souvlaki that was cooked exquisitely to medium rare as ordered with a lovely medley of cooked veggies! I had Yia Yia's roasted chicken! Fantastic!! We both loved each other's dinners! We also both had the lemon roasted potatoes that were superb! Two waiters served us with efficiency and finesse. One waiter was Nick and he was amazing. We never caught his parter's name. The restaurant was mostly open and comfortable on what had been a hot day. The place was packed and the live musicians playing and singing hits of the 60's and 70's topped the wonderful atmosphere!! Nikanos will definitely see me again!! Yasou!

I love Greek food and this did not disappoint. The space is gorgeous with ample indoor and outdoor seating. The place was filled with regulars and the owners were checking in on their guests. The bar area was big and our server was great. We ordered a salad, a fish dish and mussels. We left happy.

Three of us went for Sunday brunch we all LOVED it! More food in the sampler than I needed but it was terrific! Hummus, red bean dip and tzatziki with a grilled pita, 2 dolmades, a piece of spanakopita and who knew that ordinary fried zucchini could be SO incredibly good? My friends loved the fish tacos made with cod and tzatziki and the eggs with housemade hollandaise with a bit of za'atar were very well-received. And a shout out to Sarra E--she was really knowledgeable about the menu and had a warm and easy manner. The whole thing was just a great experience and we're looking forward to a return trip to try out the dinner menu!

Had a wonderful brunch here with friends. Food was amazing service great. Been there before for dinner and never have been disappointed!

Our experience at Nikanos Mediterranean Bar and Grille was satisfying, with the restaurant showcasing its distinct approach to Greek Mediterranean food. The menu items are rooted in family recipes, offering a unique dining experience. The ambiance is well-suited for social gatherings with friends and family. Although we only tried their limited Happy Hour menu, we are looking forward to sampling their regular offerings frOm their lunch and dinner menus.. The appetizers we ordered were delicious, with the Hummus, Tzatziki, and Red Bean Dips standing out. The drinks were expertly prepared, and the service was attentive. The pricing is comparable to other local establishments, and they offer vegetarian options. Nikanos is popular among tourists and locals alike, often resulting in a busy atmosphere, and features distinctive dining areas with open-air concepts.

Great service. Good food. I was expecting a different kind of "salad" but loved the fresh cheese on the salad. I wish they would offer bread, we had to ask the server. Go for the mousuka and olives.

We had a reservation I made 6 weeks prior by phone, however when we arrived they didn't have it. Fortunately we did not have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table outside. We started with the traditional dips and the baked oysters Onassis, both delicious. We also had the grilled octopus, it was very good, however the portion was minuscule. Valerie's shrimp was very tasty as the Pastitsio. Ended with a complimentary dessert. We would definitely come back.

A not-bad Greek restaurant in Ogunquit and a welcome addition to the other fine dining places in town with some hits and some misses, so it certainly depends on what dishes you have. It was certainly hopping on the night we visited, so we were glad we made reservations, but even so, we had to wait 15 minutes before our table opened up (reminded me of the Seinfeld rental car scene "You know how to TAKE a reservation but you don't know how to HOLD a reservation"). At any rate, once we were seated, it was still a little bit tough to relax fully with the loud music blaring and difficulty hearing each other. We shared appetizers of: Oysters Onassis (excellent, will double up on these next time), saganaki (also good, with a nice crusty and savory bottom), crispy Ikari fried zucchini wheels (rather limp and disappointing), and warm mixed olives (very good and flavorful). I had their lamb souvlaki and found it to be a bit tough and bland - the accompanying sauces (tzatziki and tahini) didn't improve it. One of my daughters had the moussaka (also surprisingly bland); another daughter had the lamb shank (meaty but under-seasoned); my oldest daughter had the best entree, the lemon roasted chicken, which was flavorful and nicely crisped skin; and my wife had their Greek Village salad which she said was very fresh and tasty. We shared desserts of the galaktoboureko, Nikanos-style Greek donuts, and the seasonal fruit crisp - all of these were quite good, especially the donuts. I just wish their coffee stood up to their fine desserts ...

The portion size is variable. I've had it "generous" and I've had it "Whoa - that's a LOT of food". They're not covered with a standard tzatziki sauce - theirs is more feta forward. Super tasty. The fries vary as well. Sometimes a bit crunchier and sometimes, while still crunchy, more toward McD fries style. But it's just the outer surface that crunches. Inside it's smooth and creamy. Top drawer. You'll find that they tuck a few fries into the wrap. A nice touch. The only negative point is speed. I've always been there early - the first for lunch. Made with ground meat, tomatoes and onions, and baked in phyllo sheets. So delicious! The flaky phyllo absorbs the delicious juices. Forget about utensils. This one is surely best eaten with clean hands! I wish I bought two! Next time, I will! And I shall inhale them just as I did today. The Mount Olympus Souvlaki is fit for a HUGE appetite! I don't think Konishki could finish this in one sitting. It's huge! It's like a gigantic pita burger with your choice of pork, chicken or lamb. Loaded with round white and red onions, which is lovely with the meat. They ran out of lamb so we tried it with pork. Delicious! Order extra yogurt sauce with this because you will need it! The Spanakopita was not so good. I prefer mine using phyllo sheets, but this was made using flour, I think. It's a far cry from the traditional ones with phyllo sheets. Texture was way too hard and the filling was not so tasty. I'll skip this the next time I go there. Order door is from the parking lot side (not on Vineyard). Take out only. Many pre-ordered so that's what I'll do next time, but it wasn't a long wait either. Kitchen area looked clean. You can scan the QR code at the door or they have a menu with photos inside the shop. Overall, great experience. The food is reasonably priced given today's inflation. Supporting small local businesses is a must! Eating real food vs fast food is better for good health. I am sure to update this after trying more menu options, especially the lamb. Update: The bougatsa remains my favorite! I love the beef, but it's still a bit too greasy for me. I will air fry it today hoping the phyllo that sopped up all the grease will turn out crispy. The dessert bougatsa is very delicious. The custard is not too sweet and I love the flaky phyllo. Highly recommend. I would order a pan of this! I would bring this to a potluck party. I could eat this daily. Yes, it's that good! The dolmates are GIGANTIC! Almost the size of lumpia!!! 4 dolmas per serving. It was delicious but didn't have the pine nuts that I am accustomed to. The feta sauce complimented the dolma filling. The gel galaktobuprek (spelling) was way too sweet and thick for me. Reminds me of a thick coconut pie. Perhaps it would be ok as a 1/2 tsp serving size. If you crave for sweets, then this is the dessert for you. Suggest you place an order EARLY on Friday because they do run out.
