This is such a great spot in downtown Biddeford. I think a lot of people would overlook it like I did for many years but wow I will be back again and again now that i've finally tried it. Love space is actually quite lovely and very clean and welcoming. I was greeted right when i came in and was helped with all my questions by the nice gentleman. He recommended some dishes and he did not steer me wrong! I opted for the feta fries, the chicken rice bowl with pita, the dolmades, and the baklava. Everything was delicious and so fresh tasting. Get all the side sauces (tzatziki, hummus, garlic dip) they are so good and you can tell they are made in house. The chicken in the bowl i got was cooked perfectly and so fresh. The feta fries are such a fun addition as well as the dolmades since i had been wanting to try those! The baklava is a perfect sweet end to the meal you can't miss. What a great experience - it's worth noting how fast the can put together your order as well. I would also love to mention that a delivery driver came in and the man made him food to take with him which was extremely sweet. As someone who works in a similar industry i know how rare it is when you come across someone who thanks their delivery drivers like this man did. This is a must try spot!!!! read more

This place might have the best pita sandwiches for miles around. The bread is outstanding and is the key to the sandwiches deliciousness. I ordered beef and lamb - the meat was juicy and tender and tasty. The chicken was also flavorful and juicy. Mother's Day Dinner - We wanted to celebrate Mother's Day by going to dinner at Papous Pita. The only problem was we had to celebrate on Monday instead of Sunday. Well, Papous Pita isn't open on Mondays, so we went to Taj India. Boy, were we glad we did. As usual, the food was delicious, the atmosphere genuine and the waitstaff very courteous and friendly. The chicken pita is a very good sandwich very messy but in a good way. However todays sandwich had old brown lettuce mixed in.-not cool I had to pick out the brown lettuce. Also not cool was a $15.00 greek salad that had tasteless tomatoes, very little lettuce, an excessive amount of cucumber, a good amount of feta & kalamata olives. In addition charging .35 for dressing on the side is a joke- get real be professional Finally charging $7.95 for a very small serving of hummus is another joke. Too many " jokes " for today. We made a stop for a late lunch at Papous Pita after walking past it a number of times. The food we got, including a couple Gyro and a Mediterranean bowl and the special fries were really tasty. Compares favorably with similar dishes I've had overseas. The staff was working hard in the back, but got the food out to us pretty quickly. The space is fairly small but clean and has some neat decor to make sure you know you're in a Greek restaurant! A couple small complaints - our lunch, while not extravagant, was really pricey. Also, the ordering kiosk asked if we wanted to check out after adding every item to our order. The food tasted really great, which helped balance things out. read more

Been to Papou's a few times. Food: Wonderful! Any of their pitas are wonderful. Everything else, pretty meh. But let's face it, that's not why you are here. The seating is mediocre, bordering on poor. The service is an ipad and the cook calls you over when your food is ready. The prices are on the expensive side and extremely nickel and dimey. Greek music plays. It's not for you. This is not a fancy place. This is a place you go to eat a great pita. This is a little gem. The ingredients are fresh, the owner and staff are friendly and the menu has lots of healthy options. My favorite is the dolmades pita (grape leaves). The pita is served warm and a little bit toasty, the tzatziki sauce is delicious and there is a generous amount of grape leaves and veggies. This is a great buy for $10.50. I have tried grape leaves from the grocery stores and they always disappoint - too mushy and tasteless. Papous grape leaves are fresh and firm. I always take something home too - usually a couple of orders of grape leaves and hummus. Hope more folks discover this restaurant. My level of excitement when I saw that they moved to Biddeford cannot be expressed in words! We would drive to Kennybunk weekly for their pitas. Everything is fresh and handmade. It's authentic Greek recipes made by the owner who is always working behind the counter. I suggest calling ahead and placing your order if you're worried about parking, I've never had an issue running in quickly to grab a lunch order. Papous Pita has moved from Kennebunkport to Biddeford, and it's just what Biddeford needed. They have a variety of pita sandwiches, rice bowls, and salads. The best part is that you can fill yourself up for about $10. They're starting off with what seems like a lunch menu but bigger meals are coming for Friday and Saturday nights. I have eaten here once a week for a month. The food is excellent. All fresh ingredients, large portions and super friendly staff. Tonight we ordered on line for the first time. Ordering was easy. Confirmation of order indicated pick up for 11:30 tomorrow ? I called the restaurant and recording stated on line ordering only. So I went on Facebook to try to cancel the order. In the process of trying to that, I received a text confirming the order again. So I went onto web site and saw they had closed at 5pm. So I texted a reply I want to cancel because I wanted it for dinner tonight. My phone rang, the owner called me to ask I knew the order was for tomorrow ? I explained no I hadn't know it was after they had closed. He said no problem. I will prepare the order for you. Just knock on the door for pick up in ten minutes !!! Biddeford (and southern Maine) sorely needed a spot like this. Reasonably priced, large portions and absolutely delicious - Papous Pita is the perfect lunch takeout spot for my new WFH normal. So far I've only tried the chicken pita and pork pita special (please make this a regular menu item!) but both were incredible. Pita is soft and warm, chicken or pork is perfectly marinated and cooked, pita sauce is creamy and there are just enough veggies hanging out in there that I don't feel (as) awful about the fact that I just ate the whole thing without coming up for air. I'm looking forward to working my way through their other menu items. It seems like they tend to riff of a basic set of ingredients which is a-okay with me when the quality is so good. read more
