The name is this restaurant makes me think of a Chinese restaurant, but it's actually a classic diner, with a twist...that twist is cinnamon crepes that are an option, along side the pancakes, French toast. The service was so fast. We got right in, no wait, ordered right away, and our food came out unbelievably fast. We all had breakfast items, but since it near lunch time, lots of other tables around us were having lunch items. They also serve alcohol which is rather unique for a classic diner. We enjoyed our meals. Solid breakfast classics. I had try to crepes, and despite them being a bit on the thick side, they were very tasty, and the cinnamon flavor was a nice surprise. We visited for brunch and were impressed with the service, food, and price-to-serving-size ratio. I wasn't expecting them to get so packed, though! I guess it's a local favorite in the Biddeford/Saco area. Thankfully, we still managed to get a table without having to wait. We ordered two meals -- a special and the eggs + corned beef plate -- plus two coffees, a Bloody Mary, and a homemade muffing for $50 after tax. Not bad at all, and this would've set us back quite a bit more at other diners. The food was delicious, although the corned beef was not the best I've had. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the dish came with a generous amount of toast (four pieces versus your typical two pieces). The Bloody Mary was also delicious, only $7 -- you can't beat that. The homemade blueberry muffin, which we had grilled, was my favorite. The breakfast menu is limited and lacks items we expected to find at a place like this (breakfast burgers, biscuits & gravy, etc). Service was outstanding. We will be back! read more

This was our 1st time at the Rooster and it won't be our last! We came in for breakfast with some bloody 's and it was great but we also saw a lot of lunch plates going to other tables (i.e. club sandwiches, wraps, burgers, ect) and they all looked good. Our servers were prompt & friendly. The atmosphere is warm & cozy and if you come in for lunch they have a full service bar for beer and drinks. Oh yeah, Prices are very affordable. My husband and I went to breakfast at Golden rooster restaurant today. On our way to leave Maine and we took a chance at this spot. I looked everywhere online and couldn't find a menu so we just decided to try it. I'm very glad we did. It's very busy on a Tuesday morning. The waitress was very nice and helpful. My husband had lobster omelette. He needed to have that lobster everywhere we went in Maine. lol. It was delicious and there was a good amount of lobster for omelette. I had the Florentine Benedict. It was delicious. I really like the hollandaise sauce and the flavors as well as the home fries. The home fries were lightly seasoned enough so it wasn't bland or Overpowering. . I one of my eggs was cooked to medium. However, the flavor was so good. It didn't bother me . I definitely recommend trying this restaurant out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I've ordered salads from there when I worked in Saco, and the Greek salad with chicken has always been great!! Today. I had breakfast there, and I was Not disappointed! Quite the opposite!! Incredibly friendly staff sat at the bar. Great mimosa and awesome cup of black coffee. Skip, the bartender efficient and friendly. Ordered Greek Omelette with home fries and toast. The only properly cooked items were the toast and coffee. I am not a fussy person but it is clear quality is not a focus if such a simple breakfast cannot be done right. The wait was 45+ minutes and unfortunately it was pouring rain and there's no where to wait inside the very small restaurant but we waited due to the high ratings we figured it's be worth the wait and overall it was. Just as a fyi: Parking wasn't as bad as we thought it might be bc there were a few lots behind the restaurant with parking available to the public. I don't think the restaurant has its own parking and with it being located along a main road with only a few spots in front of the restaurant itself we weren't sure if parking was going to be an issue. In terms of atmosphere it's a small place loud and crowded on the day we went. Lots of larger parties of families and a small counter of regulars/singles. Once we were sat the waitstaff was fast and friendly. Our food came out quickly and everyone in our group was happy with the quality of the food and the portion size. I had the cheese omelette which was yummy and I thought the home fries were flavorful and well cooked. Several members of our group got the breakfast sandwiches and thought those were delicious and the little ones with us loved their pancakes and scrambled eggs. I went to the Golden Rooster on a recent stay in old Orchard Beach Maine. Walking in instantly, I noticed that the place was crowded because there was live music. There was lots of talking and mingling and people don't move when they literally see you walking in but even through all the people we were greeted immediately as we walked in. This is definitely a bonus. This is not always the case when you walk into a small town family owned restaurant. We sat down, received menus, and were asked if we wanted water right away. The server was kind,efficient, and helpful. I had the lobster roll and french fries. It was also wing night so we tried some of the Caribbean jerk wings as well as the garlic parmesan wings. My husband ordered the shepherds pie and haddock bites which he liked. My lobster roll was a decent portion for the price and it was sweet. They made it exactly as I asked...all I want is the lobster and the bread. Spare me with all the extras. The wings were cooked to perfection fried with a rub added or fried with the wet sauce added and you couldn't beat the $.75 per wing. We picked a good night to go. Overall the experience was pretty good. I will name that my husband and I were the only two Black people in the whole restaurant and at times we could feel it. The stares were plentiful, but it never felt unsafe or unwelcoming. If you're ever up the Old Orchard area I would say go for a visit grab the lobster roll and make sure you go on a Thursday so you can get those discount wings. read more

I went to this restaurant for brunch with some coworkers on a Tuesday morning after working the night shift. I ordered the blintzes with strawberries and it was amazing. Great prices and not too large breakfast menu with plenty of options. This seemed like the spot where many of the older crowd would meet with friends each day to catch up and I loved that. They have some outdoor seating outside on the sidewalk. The crowd picked up around 9am (it was a weekday during the summer) but I've heard that they get packed by 7am on a weekend day. We went in there last night at 5 and we were the only people there except a man lounging outside and one at the bar (not eating,). This place has been a breakfast place for decades but this year they tried with some success to do dinner as well. Anyways, it was 5pm and we were there only dinner options Waitress approaches. I nicely ask as i have done 3 or 4 times before because they were not busy if they would mind making me 2 pieces of french toast as opposed to their heavier dinner fare. She replies that they are no longer serving breakfast. I explained that i knew that but if she would mind asking the cook. She said the cook was new. I asked her if she minded anyways. You coukd see the cook fom where we were and she had nothing going on. Thrwaitress reluctantly said she would ask but i cant confirm she did. I have worked in eveet position. If i was asking fot eggs, hashbrowns, or pancales, I would understand the no. Dipping two regular sized bread in egg and milk wash and putting it on flattop for a few minutes? Not so much. Her demeanor and their absolute refusal surprised me. A dead restaurang during COVID flat refusing to make their single set of customers happy, not so much. I put down $5 down to cover our full and she comes but tk say that the drinks were $5.40. No offee to comp the drinks or at least offer to go cups. I have worked eveey position front and back in a restaurant and if people left because we could not accomodate them, I never have chargec for full drinks left behind. I would have explained the situation to the manager (who may have slapped the french toast on himself) and gotten the drinks comped or packed. My boyfriend was going to order a full dinner with apps so we were willing to spend. Their dinner fare was not for me. I have asked to do this (only when restaurant is dead) at least 4 times before and have always been told " no problem" as it really is an easy request. Her reluctance to ask the cook or manager cost them at least a $30 dinner and $10 tip. Letting us walk out of a dead restaurant amazed me. Besides, if a cook cannot coat bread with egg wash and milk, i would not want to see what dhe can cook. As a former manager, i certainly would have aaked why we let paying cusromer leave without eating. I will go back somd day but there are plenty of higher quality restaurants I will go to first. read more
