I decided to give Nigel's Waterfront a try for my birthday because I've seen it all over social media. I had also walked through the area before while renting a paddleboard and kayak, so I thought it would be a cute place to have dinner. The aesthetic and atmosphere are really nice, and the waiters were very friendly, polite, and attentive. The starters we ordered were actually really good! For my entrée, though, I just wasn't a fan of what I chose. The presentation was beautiful, but the dish was very bland for my personal taste. I definitely think it could've used more seasoning. That being said, I can't speak for the whole menu -- there may be other dishes that are much better, so I'd probably be open to trying something different if I went back. My biggest issue was honestly the heat. We went on a hot day and there's no AC, so I was literally sweating the whole time. It was hard for me to comfortably sit in one place and enjoy my dinner because I was so hot. Overall, I wouldn't say it was a bad experience. UGH, such a cute girls spot for photo-ops, bubbles and giggles. They offer a 15 min duffy boat ride after your meal too! Came here with a girlfriend for lunch and there were many cute group of teenaged girls celebrating their birthday, and why shouldn't they? The backdrops, pink furniture, outside cabanas and girly decor was to die for. It reminded me of the Beverly Hills Hotel vibe - pink and green. The staff were friendly as well! They shared items that were off the menu and gave great recs. We ordered the lobster roll (hot instead of cold) with a side of salad. I don't know if I was famished or if the food was that spectacular but I cleaned my plate. The lobster chunks were huge, great ratio of mayo and celery on a buttered toasted roll. The chopped salad was my favorite, not because it's moderation, but because it was fresh and light with a delicious vinaigrette, small chunks of cheese (was that cheddar or gouda?) and long strands of greens (was that kale?) that tied it all together very well. Most chopped salad elsewhere are meh (some chopped romaine with bacon, a few cherry tomatoes and a huge glob of ranch), but not here. I felt like having a good time so i ordered the Poison Ivy (not on the menu but recommended by staff since it's new). Think of a healthy green drink of celery, kale, ginger but with alcohol. Nigel continues to disappoint. This time, a friend spilled her drink on my partner's pants by accident. The server saw, immediately said I'll bring you napkins!.... and never came with said napkins. I had to ask for that twice. Table was never cleared immediately or properly- we were eating dessert on a cluttered table littered with dirty tableware at the end of 3 hrs. Not very fine dining. Also, no one came to take our bday girl's husband's order for 30 minutes. We had to go inside to locate a server to place his food order. Overall, while we were satisfied with our food, it was certainly not exceptional. Just edible and fine. But i did expect this - this is an IG spot, not some bastion of gastronomy, so whatever. So far - food 3/5 (if you ask my friends it's 1/5) and service was 2/5. I wanna clarify: I did like our server. He was extremely nice and friendly and sassy in a fun way. But... the problem isnt with him, its with management and the business. They are absolutely understaffed. I saw this poor man out of breath and stressed out almost the whole night. Why did we have to ask for every little thing 10 times? Maybe because he is overworked!!! I don't blame him. I blame the greedy ownership. Hire more people!!! So your poor waiter isn't dying in front of us, ans delivering us a subpar bday service experience that we absolutely don't blame him for!! Smh. I hate when restaurants are understaffed yet extremely popular. Do. Better. Pay your staff well and hire more people!! At the end, friend 1 decided to pay the bill and that she had enough of this lacking service. Large groups are supposed to pay 20% gratuity but the truth is we really didn't get a 20% level service. So friend 1 went inside to talk to the manager for a reduced service fee. The manager immediately had a bad attitude. She said that if we had all these problems we should bring it up to her immediately and earlier. F1 said: first of all, I let the servers know every time. I didn't know I had to run inside the restaurant every time to speak to YOU about problems. Also, considering the nonstop issues we had - if I had done that, I'd have never been able to sit down and even eat! Manager: fine we'll remove the mandatory 20%. F1: proceeds to write 10% M: immediately says no, you can't do that, we are back to mandatory 20. (Im sorry you cant flip flop on your words like that?) She proceeded to add that they had larger parties than us of 20 and 30+ people that night and they are all doing 20%. F1: okay good for them? I'm not sure why you having larger groups excuses our less than 10% level of gratuity service experience? M: I let you bring your dogs in! F1: ok? But you market yourself as dog friendly and your cabanas are outdoors so how is this supposed to be some sort of gift we have received? And not to mention.... one of the two dogs is a service dog anyways? M: continues to gaslight and blame my friend instead of just admitting we had a piss poor experience overall, they could do better, theyre sorry and will hire more people. Nope. She just develops an antagonistic, not customer service like attitude, and gaslight us for not coming to her directly for every single problem. How is that to be expected? You're supposed to tell just your server and they should handle it! You only bring in a manager if something severe happens! In the end my friend gave up; the manager wasn't trying to even own up for all their mistakes starting from 4 weeks ago to an absolutely poor bday dinner. The manager reduced 50% on one single risotto (even though we ordered like 7 risottos and 6 of them were undercooked). My friend paid 15% tip instead and we left. Only to find out, the restaurant had mischarged us anyways! They actually charged us $58 for "milagro blanco" - which is a drink we never had! Crazy. So we ended up overpaying either way. We called back since to get this $58 refunded since it's not something we even ordered - and again - not a single live person to be reached. So disappointed. I wanted to like this place. It does have very pink and cute decor. But is the decor worth the drama? No. There's a million other pink places to visit. Go there instead. read more

Took 20 mins to get our food order but she was kind and quick once we got attended. What a perfect place for a girls outing, with their floral and pink decor. The details go beyond the glass chandeliers and velvet tufted chairs, onto the seahorse napkin holders, pink themed drinks, and pink ceramic plates. It's right at the water so almost every booth table has a water view. Plus you can also take the Duffy boat out. Ambiance is a 9/10. The only reason why it's not a 10 is because some of the decor is now faded from the sun. Our server was amazing! I think her name is Fallon. Her friendly and welcoming energy was infectious. I was ready to tell her to join our table and have lunch with us instead. We had appetizers that were great, like the deviled eggs that were of course pink, and they were as good as it looked. The charcuterie board was mid and a bit underwhelming. The fries, were good, but it was a very small portion, especially for the price. I had the lobster grilled cheese and tomato bisque - a perfect pairing. I also appreciated that it came with a lot of lobster in the sandwich. Such a lil gem of a place. I had my reservations but definitely came away delighted. Good food and amazing service are the culprits, and I could not be happier. We went here yesterday for my Mom's Birthday, and she loved every minute of it. From the pink decor to the Easter greeters, everything was wonderful. We also met the super talented violinist. I know she just started but I'm glad we were able to experience her talent. She's such a fantastic addition. We ended up ordering a few brunch dishes. Prices were decent. Think the only one we were surprised by was the the 59 dollar breakfast steak and eggs. While good I don't think it was anything spectacular to write home about. My husband planned a beautiful birthday day for me with our 5-year-old daughter: brunch at Nigel's, then a boating reservation at a nearby port. He made both reservations with extra buffer time because he's a type 1 diabetic and timing matters. We arrived 5 minutes early. We waited over 50 minutes and were seated well past our reservation time. They were completely unprepared. Our daughter was starving, my husband's blood sugar was dropping, and we were going to miss our boating reservation--so we left. Because Nigel's had a $100 OpenTable hold, I went back to explain what happened instead of just letting them keep money for a meal we never received. The manager apologized, promised to comp champagne, and said she would take care of us personally. We stayed. We got the champagne. Then we ordered food for our daughter and husband. Thirty minutes passed and my daughter still had no food. The manager never came by. The original server was embarrassed and said it would be comped. Then my husband and I ordered. After another 30+ minutes, his order came out completely wrong. Mine came even later. A crab cake appetizer we asked them to take back still ended up on the bill. The server kept saying everything would be comped. The manager said everything would be comped. Then the bill came with charges for my food, my husband's beers, and the crab cake. But honestly, my issue was never about getting free food. We never asked for comps. We wanted the same food and basic service everyone around us was receiving. Instead, we were talked down to like comps were some favor we were chasing. It felt humiliating. It also appeared that staff were talking and giggling while looking over at us. I don't know what was said, but it made an already awful experience feel worse. A reservation should mean something. A manager's word should mean something. Basic service should mean something. Nigel's failed at all three. I left my own birthday brunch feeling embarrassed and disrespected. Never again. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Nigel's, especially because this was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. We had a reservation, yet we waited approximately 2 hours to be seated. During that time, we were repeatedly told that our table was being cleaned and that we would be seated soon. We kept waiting, but the explanations continued without any real resolution. Eventually, we decided to leave. What made the experience even more upsetting was that we felt we were being treated differently because of our race. As a group of people of color, we couldn't help but notice the way we were treated compared with other guests. I cannot speak for their intentions, but the treatment we received left us feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. A restaurant being busy is understandable, but making customers wait for two hours while repeatedly giving them misleading information is not acceptable. And when you leave feeling that your race may have played a role in how you were treated, it makes the experience even more hurtful. This was my birthday, and unfortunately, Nigel's turned what should have been a celebration into a very negative experience. I hope management takes situations like this seriously and looks into how guests are being treated. read more

A friend and I had a girl's brunch date on a Sunday, reservation was at 1015, and we were promptly seated. A lot of "Instagram-able" booths/photo ops areas through the restaurant. The servers were attentive and kind. A lot more foot tracking throughout restaurant started after 1200. What knocks this restaurant, is the food... We ordered the Avocado Toast Tower, it has egg, and bacon bits on it. It was as to be expected. Nothing spectacular, but $34 is a bit much? Individually, I ordered the Lemon Drop (photo not taken), and it was more sugar than it was alcohol? Noted that it was pink per the theme but that's a minuet detail. For my main food, I ordered the Pink Hen Chicken and Waffles, and I couldn't be more disappointed. Chicken was flat pieces, fried skin was floppy, and overall it was bland. The waffle was pink, tough, and burned on the bottom with random bacon bits scattered in it. Also, there was glitter on EVERYTHING. The avocado toast, the chicken, the decorative flower with the toast--GLITTER. Do with that what you will. The theme throughout the entire restaurant is absolutely stunning, and the location is convenient with plenty of parking. I'd like to start by saying the service was excellent, and the restaurant was very clean. The food and drinks were definitely highlights, along with the beautiful pink décor throughout the restaurant. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Cute spot for dates and special occasions. The hubby and I stopped in one weekday afternoon to get a drink and see what it was all about. The place was very pink and very pretty. The ambience was definitely chick-forward, and as a chick, I dug it, even though I don't generally consider myself a girly girl. We bellied up to the bar (yes, pink) and perused the cocktail menu. I got a Swipe Right cocktail, which was a nice blend of bourbon and sweetness without being cloying, even with sugar rim. The hubby wasn't in the mood for a cocktail and just got a hazy IPA. The beautiful afternoon light reflecting off the water made the whole place glow and we had a nice time leisurely taking it all in. We were glad to have caught it before the evening crowd got there. The bartender was nice and the prices were in line with its upscale-casual ambience. We enjoyed it, but will probably only come for drinks during the quiet hours because we're old and they don't have a great selection of vegetarian items. CUTE BUT INTERRUPTED Came out for the Valentine's Day experience pre fix menu. We sat in the corner booths as you enter the restaurant. Cute details and pink lighting all around. Ordered their take on the old fashion and a sassy and spice drink made with Mezcal. Drinks were good and I was delighted the place was available on a Saturday valentines day. Oysters were okay. I mean, they don't have to be prepared at all, but whoever shucked them did it aggressively because we had to spit out the pieces of shattered shell in each of them. It happens at least they didn't look dead. The filet mignon was good. Cooked medium rare and served with a piece of butter torched right in front of you. My girlfriend has been wanting to try this place for sometime so I thought it would be a great place for valentines. Unfortunately, the thing she remembers most from the dinner is how we fought fruit flys the entire time. And to pay, with the intention to make her day, just to laugh about how all we did was kill fruit flies is irritating. the meal was overshadowed by the constant smacking of flys. I know it's an outdoor set up but I think there was something attracting them in the snake plants behind us. We didn't see anyone else battling so assumed it was just us. I wasn't expecting to enjoy Nigel's as much as I did. What impressed me most wasn't the food (which was very good) or the fun atmosphere, it was the service. You can tell when a restaurant has great leadership because every single person you meet seems genuinely happy to be there. Manager Bobby has clearly built an outstanding team. From the moment Kharissa welcomed us with a smile, to our wonderful server Stephanie, who made great recommendations and made my friend Vanessa feel truly celebrated on her birthday, everyone made us feel like guests instead of customers. Jake happily answered my questions about my delicious Grand Ahi Tuna Salad, Azat captured some fantastic photos that we were happy to purchase, and Jordan quietly kept everything spotless without ever missing a beat. Every interaction felt warm, professional, and genuine. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with fun photo spots throughout, and it made for a memorable afternoon. Ironically, I was actually resistant to coming here. I'm really glad I was talked into it because Nigel's completely won me over. Stephanie was AMAZING! She completely made our experience from start to finish. She was so bubbly, fun, attentive, and genuinely made us feel like we were her favorite table. She checked on us at all the right times, had the best energy, and made the whole meal even more enjoyable. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and it shows. They were late on setting up our table, there were still people dining, so that was a little hiccup. Once we were seated, everything came together. We had a few great servers bring out the custom menus for the birthday girl which were beautiful! We had an avocado tower, which was lovely and such a great idea! The fruit platter had so many choices and the fruit was fresh, they did an amazing job with presentation! When we asked one of the servers about an ingredient in the avocado tower, she was so helpful, and although she didn't know the answer completely, she wanted to make sure she asked the kitchen and get back to us. They were very busy and her making that effort show a great customer service on her part. He also had a gorgeous young lady walking around, posing for pictures and she had these amazing costumes that she rotated out of throughout our time there. I should also mention, that as we waited for a table to be set up, we were invited to the bar to order drinks if we'd like. My friends order cocktails, and I had a mocktail, presentation again, a spot on! My friend said they really liked their drink drinks. I ordered the "La Reina Pork Carnitas" and I didn't expect them to be as good as they were. I wish there was more Carnitas because that was the best part, they were filled with flavor and not greasy at all. The chilaquiles had a great flavor. The portion size was pretty big aside from the protein. Unfortunately, they were out of the desert they offered on our menu. So that part got a little messy and I ended up leaving without dessert. They service it's amazing as being a busy restaurant, they do request a $25 deposit in hold in credit card for any reservation, free parking and 2 hours of reservation but if they are not busy they will not rush you! We got our reservation at 12:30 and we left the table around 3ish , walk around the restaurant and every corner it's a perfect place to seat. Their cocktails and their food are delicious. Such a cute spot and a hidden gem in Long Beach! :) II've never heard of this place until my friends and I went to celebrate a birthday not too long ago, but I'm so glad we went because it was a great time! Food- The food is pretty standard brunch for. Not a ton of food options, they have a scramble and a Benedict and a chilaquiles and an avocado toast. The vegetables were really delicious and fresh. The egg whites were super fluffy which was very enjoyable. Everything came unseasoned in the garden omelet but they provided salt, pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup. Lots of drink options if you fancy a brunch cocktail, wine, or beer. The pineapple mimosa is nice. The bloody mary was really good and has a bleu cheese fried green olive in it. They gave us complimentary vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and chocolate chips because we were celebrating my birthday. It was super delicious!! Service- The service here is lovely. We are vegetarian and they were able to customize some of our dishes so we had more ordering options (e.g., lobster benedict without the lobster). The atmosphere is stylish, fun, and makes for a great place to gather with friends. Unfortunately, the service fell short during our visit. While the staff seemed to be trying their best, they were not very attentive. Even though there were several empty tables, it took nearly 20 minutes after being seated to receive water and place our drink order. Throughout the meal, we had to repeatedly ask for water refills and condiments, and the staff did not check on our table very often. The restrooms were also low on supplies, and there were a few service missteps, including dishes being cleared before everyone had finished eating. My sister's food was taken before she was done, and our meals did not arrive at the same time. As a party of seven, we were seated near the host stand and restrooms, which wasn't the most comfortable location for a larger group. The food was decent, and the menu had a lot of appealing options. Because I enjoyed the atmosphere so much, I would be willing to give it another chance, perhaps with a smaller group. The location and views are beautiful, but the overall experience would have benefited from more attentive service. read more

After the hype had died downed, we tried our hand here for drinks and a light fare. The place was buzzing with excited and well dressed patrons enjoying themselves. Our party sat at the bar. Friendly hostess gave us menus. The food was good. But the service was not. Servers so busy walking around and not being attentive to the people at the bar. Tables seem to get more attention. We came to Nigel's in Long Beach as a party of 10 to celebrate my friend's birthday. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience completely ruined her special night. Our reservation was at 6:45 PM, but the table wasn't ready on time. Service was extremely slow from the start. Our drink orders didn't arrive until an hour and a half later, and even then the order was wrong and not everyone received their drinks, even though the restaurant wasn't close to full. We didn't get our food until 8:45 PM, two hours after our reservation. When it finally arrived, appetizers and entrées came out together, the appetizers were cold, and the steaks we ordered medium rare were served well done. To make things worse, we were squeezed into a small cabana that couldn't fit our group and were charged extra for it without ever requesting it. There was so little space that we had to eat our meals on our laps. Overall, the night was chaotic and poorly managed. Nigel's has the most beautiful view. I've been a handful of times now, sat inside near the bar and at a booth right on the waterfront, both have amazing views. The staff is super friendly and the food is good. Breakfast was better than the lunch but drinks were good regardless. Def recommend for a cute birthday date, the photo ops are endless! read more

I don't know who Nigel is, but clearly he's obsessed with pink and honestly? Same. This place is drenched in the perfect baby pinks. Not fuchsia. Not neon. Just soft, dreamy pink everywhere. Vibe is an easy 5/5. The restaurant opens right up to where the Duffy boats are parked, and yes, some of them are pink too. The whole look is adorable. Now...the food. Erm. Calamari - 3/5 Seasoning was meh, and the dipping sauce were way too sweet. Caesar salad - 3/5 Exactly what you'd expect. Nothing exciting, nothing offensive. Admirals Salmon - 4/5 Solid. Well-seasoned, cooked right. Not mind-blowing, but definitely the best dish of the night. Chicken Piccata "Perfection" - 2.5/5 Perfection is a strong word. Pasta was overcooked and soggy. Like...deeply soggy. Even Viagra couldn't revive it. Sauce was bland, weirdly fatty, and had zero payoff flavor-wise. Hard pass. Skinny Girl Marg Who knows how skinny it actually is since there's no calorie info, but if it's legit, then respect. Overall, the place is such a vibe but the food needs work. Please do better because the atmosphere deserves it. Parking tip (because this matters): When you see Ralphs, drive to the right side and enter the parking structure that goes down. Park there. The restaurant entrance literally opens into the parking area. Free parking, tons of space, insanely convenient. Loved that. Would 1000% come back for drinks, brunch, and vibes. This was a fun 50th birthday brunch on the waterfront. The restaurant is super cute and filled with pink vibes everywhere. Food was tasty and the mocktails were delicious. The table had the pink fried deviled eggs which were cute. I had the pink hen chicken and waffles that was good. However, the dish that stole the show was the Monte Cristo it was amazing. My husband was disappointed with the breakfast sando though. He said that the sando was missing something like a raspberry preserves or maybe some seasoning on the eggs. The service was just okay we could have had a more attentive server. Overall it was fun picture ready spot to enjoy cute brunch eats surrounded with pink decor. First time here, per birthday girl's request. Plenty of free garage parking; always a plus! Pink art deco accents all around; love the circular cushioned seat in the foyer! We were greeted and seated promptly. Our table had a view of the water. There are tables that are right on the water too! Great menu selection with signature drinks; I chose a pink lemon drop (so delicious, I had two). My entree of choice was the Sea bass over asparagus risotto. Its true name on the menu is a tongue twister! Everyone was pleased with their selections. We enjoyed the view from the table; but, before leaving, we got to go for a boat ride! Wow! Just Wow! Way to Save my Birthday!!! I lost touch with the girl arranging my event after scheduling to come 1.5 months out. Long story short; the person i was in correspondence with VANISHED. I emailed her several times and was even there 2 weeks before but she wasn't. We showed up and there was No reservation. The girl was Not helpful other than Owning responsibility. She Wanted to seat us in the Almost parking lot (fyi the whole place Was once). We were about to take our 15 person visit elsewhere. But... BOBBY SAVED THE DAY! He found us space, accommodated our party and was a true leader. He took charge and Made it Happen! I cannot tell u what a God send. Super helpful, accommodating, sweet, generous & kind.
