Nick's transformed from pub fare to Greek/Med fare recently. And it was for the better. The owner is greek,, and he knows how to make it. The ingredients were some of the freshest around and the parts of each dish were made fresh. Home made pita chips, seasoned and served with freshly made hummus to start and the entres just get better. Its hard to describe food but this place is now one of my favorites! The food is by far the tastiest and the size of the portions are huge. Easily split-able by two people, but I gave the Musaka all I could to get it all down and still failed. I have also tried the Gyro which, Nick's is now my go to place for a sandwhich ir Gyro,, it was the best Just go, you wont be disappointed and if you are,, bring me your left-overs. I've lived in Greece/Crete, in the military, and I can tell you from being there, it doesnt get any closer to being there without a little dog walking around and waiter doing shots with your table. read more

Stopped in at local Greek restaurant- Nick's for a Greek meal to go. Service was great, food was so good. Thanks Nicks! My standby for spanakopita, gyros and fresh hummus. My Greek-food fix is now satisfied til the next time. read more

I'm not sure about the rest of the food here, but I ordered Avgolemono Soup. This soup is egg lemon broth with pulled chicken and orzo. The soup that I received had these aspects however, there was a very small amount of chicken and orzo within it all. With the chicken that was in there, most of it was either pure fat or pieces of the bone. I ordered takeout and couldn't correct my order as I had left already. Again, I can't judge the rest of the food here but I sure don't recommend ordering the Avgolemono Soup. read more

Tasty and delicious Mediterranean food, but a little bit over priced. The menu is diverse which is something I liked

Hummus was some of the best I have ever had. Chicken Shwarma was very, very tasty and the service was quick at 6pm on Thursday. A real hidden gem in Brambleton. read more

Food was tasty, but took exorbitantly long to arrive. If took so long, in fact, that we had to have them pack it to go. It was Saturday night, but still not fun to take fries and crispy chicken to go. Maybe I'd try at a slower time of day. read more

I love this restaurant! chicken SOUVLAKI and their unlimited house chips with hummus and their salad are fantastic!!!!! The chips is so crispy and light that I can eat two bowls of it every time! I order it every weekend as a treat to my self and family! The tabouleh is amazing too! Wish they can open more restaurants in DC! And they stay very late. so that I can order it if we get's hungry in the mid-night. read more

I think my girlfriend and I had the same beginning experience as many on here. We went in hoping to grab a burger and a beer. We ordered our beer and opened the menu and said WTH??? What happened?? We felt bad since we already ordered our beer and decided to stay and give it a shot.. We both were so glad that we did. The food is amazing!! The pita chips and homemade hummus they give you (free) is probably the best I have ever had!! Thumbs up to the food, menu, and friendly staff! we will be back Highly recommend the Gyro and the Salmon read more

Pros: Great happy hour prices, Friendly bartenders, decent poker venue Cons: Lack of weekend drink specials outside football season, high turnover of employees, bad karoke setup (too loud) read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how good my meal was at Nick's Corner Grill! I stumbled upon this place during a weeknight out in Ashburn. The restaurant had a nice ambiance. They were hosting some type of meeting in the back room area, but it did not disturb my dinner. Our waiter was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. He answered all of my questions and recommended a new food item for me to try. We were first served pita chips with hummus and later flat bread. I ordered the chicken shawarma entree. It was absolutely delicious and fresh, even being served late at night. The portion size was huge! My bf ordered the kabob entree and it also looked and tasted delicious! read more

Greek burger was great! Enjoyed the salad underneath the patty and cucumber sauce tremendously, burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Phil the bartender made the visit even more enjoyable. read more

I appreciate that the business is open in COVID times and that we could order a quick pick up but at the same time, we were very disappointed with the food. Falafels had a bad oily taste to it. Falafel wraps were cold and the pita bread was not fresh. Service was quick but i would rather wait a little and have fresh food. read more

The sign says Nick's Taverna now, these are the same place. Now that we've dispensed with the formalities; this restaurant is a hidden gem. I mean "hidden" literally. It's hard to see from the main parking lot, but there is plenty around the side. Go past the Peet's Coffee, and you'll find more parking that probably has better access. The prices would be good even if the portions weren't so generous- and believe me the portions are generous. It's hard not to order a couple of apps when the prices are that reasonable, but by the time your main comes out you'll probably already be full. Not that it won't be tempting to try to eat it right away anyway. The shank of lamb had the richest, most delicious sauce on it. The depth of flavor and the tenderness are something to write home about. And it all comes out at a great pace. Some places, you go and you wait then you order then you wait then you.. etc... Some other places, you feel like all they want is to turn over your table. Nick's Taverna really hits the sweet spot. When you don't have food, more comes out fast. When you're eating, they don't try to rush you. I've never left here without a box stuffed with leftovers, and said boxes have never stuck around past lunch time the next day. That's about the best thing you can say about a restaurant. read more

I love coming here - they have amazing happy hour specials at the bar. The food is also very good: very high quality at a very reasonable price. The staff is always friendly and almost every time we've been there, Nick himself (I think) shook our hands on the way out and thanked us for coming by. They also had a great Mardi Gras celebration just a few weeks ago which was a lot of fun! The downside to Nick's is that the menu is fairly limited - they have things you won't find at other places, but they're missing a lot of the classics for picky eaters like myself. It would be nice to see some additional chicken dishes. read more

Nick's Tavern is great place to get a bite to eat at the bar. Alison will always remember you and your drink and the food is fantastic. Secret spot that I hope goes BIG. Very deserving. read more

I've tried Nicks in many of its stages and sill can't get onboard with liking anything. The Mediterranean style is way better, I will say, and the hummus is the only thing I really like other than a pretty basic Greek salad. The falafel made me feel sick and was way to fried and the kabob was almost undercooked. Not my first choice for Mediterranean in the area. read more

My family and I really like this restaurant. The food has always been really good and fresh. Prices are reasonable and we have never had to wait to be seated. The chicken kabob and chicken souvlaki are very good. read more

Chicken Shwarma platter was delish! It comes on a flat pita, yummy Fettoush salad, rice, and tahini. They were quick with our order.

Heard about Nick's from a friend who heard about it from a friend who has a greek background. Isn't that the best recommendation? Thank goodness for the gps because it's not exactly in our "neighborhood" but it was worth the 25 minute drive out of our way. Atmosphere was casual and family friendly. I can see that later in the evening it could ramp up to a more adult, drinking environment. There is a bar separate from the dining room so you can check the sports scores if you want but not feel like you are in a bar. Stage and a fireplace in the dining area definitely gave me the feel that fun can happen in there at the right time! Anxious to try a few things we over ordered! We started with an order of spanikopita and an appetizer order of falafel. Both were very good. Neither came out really hot - but we could overlook that. The tahini sauce that came with the falafel was very good. Both plates were garnished with some pickled radish which was also very tasty. Looking forward to dinner we saved some of each appetizer to take home! Although the dining room was not full, our waiter could have been a bit more attentive and our entrees seem to have taken a while to come out. When it did come out - it was very good - again not super hot. I had the Mousaka. Authentic and tasty served with traditional green greens in a tomato sauce. My husband had the Gyro platter. Served with open face over pita squares with fries and some salad on the side. While the gyro meat was well worth it - the fries left a bit to be desired. The Tzaziki sauce was nice and thick and really good. We will be back with friends and look forward to trying some other things on the menu. We'll probably pass on the fries and we hope the food comes out a little hotter. read more

Giving Nick's a mixed review ordered Mousaka with many side salad. I was disappointed that the Taziki wasn't more flavorful. Mousaka fared much better and was lighter than it appeared to be. Gets a strong B. We passed on dessert. Two of us for $35 in Ca$hburn, VA is pretty reasonable Service experience was attentive without overbearing. A+! Not the best Greek food I've had but far from the worst. Balanced experience. Will likely go again. read more

Liked the place. Went for Sunday drinks and food. Spinach and artichoke dip was great. Fried calamari came with cocktail sauce instead of marinara. Thought about requesting marinara but the cocktail was actually pretty good with it. One main concern - the prime rib WAS NOT PRIME RIB. The crab cakes were excellent though. I'll be back - just stick to sammiches or crab cakes. read more

It's close, that's worth a star I guess....Other than that the neighborhood has turned its back on this place due to years of poor food and poor service. We've been a couple times and have had mediocre to bad food and terrible to horrible service. They're apparently revamping the menu, but to be honest the menu wasn't the problem. It's everything else. I hope they turn things around, but more than a menu update and a coat of pain is needed. Someone call Gordon Ramsey! read more

I went to Nick's Taverna for a big party for a friends birthday dinner. There was live music throughout the night and the service was outstanding! As for the food, it was hit or miss. I tried three different platters/sandwiches. The chicken shawarma and beef shawarma were pretty good but the lamb shank was meh. The lamb shank had too many spices which became over powering and for $19 the portion was relatively small. As for dessert, I loved the baklava! The portion was very big and just the right amount of sweetness. read more

The only thing I can say about this establishment is "eh" - and that goes for the food and wait staff. The atmosphere is beautiful, but the menu leaves much to be desired - just not my cup of tea. read more

Great food and Great service-can make for a subliminal experience. . Sadly our rare date night at NICKS' fell short of a disaster. .. We ventured out and arrived shortly after 8:00. They were not extremely busy, with a number of people dining alfresco in the pleasant eventing weather. We stood as a solitaire couple waiting to be seated.a good 4 minutes. The hostess was mediocre, neither welcoming or rude. Then we waited for 10 minutes to be acknowledged . He took our orders...The wait continued.....sigh....Our server vanished into the woodwork.... :( . Now on to our food--- Sadly our food would have been wold have been excellent if it were not lukewarm,. I ordered lamb shanks. The meat fell off the bone and was cooked to my specifications of medium. They were accompanied with Greek Green Beans and fluffy fragrant rice. The serving was gigantic. I had more than enough to enjoy another meal. My s/o ordered the GYRO PLATTER. He is of MEDITERRANEAN descent. He was pleased. Included was a crispy GREEK SALAD. To sum up. If we should return, I would wait for the hostess. But should I notice an indication of slow service I will give the server a polite heads up. I never got "our" servers name, we barely caught a glimpse of him and he never introduced himself. I believe the kitchen had made excellent food . Due to the slow service, our food was very disappointing. read more

Good neighborhood place. Friendly staff and an interesting menu. I have gone there quite a few times and tried various dishes (zucchini pancakes are my favorite). I am giving 4 stars only because the food tastes very, very salty. Spanakorizo I had last time was impossible to consume due to the saltiness. A big plus for those who have dietary restrictions- they have a list of which dishes are gluten-free. A relative of mine found it helpful. read more

You can't pick a better place for dinner after a movie than Nick's! Not only is the restaurant open later than the rest, but they also have the best chicken schawarma I've had this side of the Mediterranean. They have a fine selection of Greek wines as well, and their galaktoboureko dessert is out of this world. The service is also beyond excellent; we always seem to be lucky enough to get Payson as our server, who manages to be everywhere at once at just the right time and with all the right suggestions. read more

So I'm not a huge fan of Greek food but this place is out of this world some of the best chicken souvlaki I've ever had my wife wants to eat here three times a week it's so good I don't quite know why the place isnt always packed inside but don't let that fool you the food is fantastic if you're looking for authentic Greek cuisine read more

This is our Friday night go to! Its perfect if you are looking for a casual restaurant where you can get some awesome Mediterranean food. If you go definitely try the Mediterranean sampler (it's enough for two!). They make the food from scratch on a daily basis, and the quality is definitely apparent. PS- Romeo is the man! Top notch bartender with unbelievable customer service. read more

The food is great, but too bad the service is mediocre. Our table didn't have napkins or utensils, the waiter took a while to refill our water glasses and waited a while to take away our plates. There was also a rowdy group of about 8 people right next to us. I suggest if people want to get hammered, go to the bar. I could barely hear anything over all of the hollering. I expected the atmosphere to be more romantic. read more

They have good food. I love that you get free hummus and pita chips for appetizer. They have live music but we have not stay long enough to listen. We usually leave before they start singing. Salad is very good and service is quick. Waiter is nice too. I don't know about their deserts since we haven't order any. Overall a nice place to eat. Lots of food on plate. read more

Ate free hummus and enjoyed it. Had a gyro and meze platter and both were pretty good. The Spanikopita was under-seasoned. We had Baklava and warmed Greek farina pastry. Five stars for the complimentary hummus and chips! Definitely recommend the sampler appetizer. We also got the chicken souvlaki and it was PLENTY of food for the two of us. Plus, the free dessert (waiter recommended galaktoboureko. Try pronouncing that...) was something we'd never had before and was perfect to split. read more

Delicious Mediterranean food !! Everything is so tasty and delicious. Since Covid we have been ordering take out. Never disappointed

Normally when I come to Nicks we have great service but of all nights, Valentine's Day they had mostly teenagers serving. The place was half full and they were more concerned with setting tables then taking our orders or offering drinks. We sat for 25 minutes without a waiter coming over. We watched a family of six get seated and served drinks. Another table of two, get drinks, appetizers and place orders. Another two tables get their food. The waiters and what looked to be the manager looked at us several times in the 25 minutes. Our Valentine's Day dinner was definitely ruined. Needless to say we left! This use to be my favorite spot. I will have a very difficult time coming back. I miss California where there are adult servers! read more

Among my favorite places to take friends when I still lived in the DC Metro area. Note- all reviews from 2011 and earlier are for the previous incarnation of the restaurant, and no longer viable. This is a solid Greek restaurant, managed by an amiable woman who knows her way around the kitchen but spends her time out front. Admittedly sticking with the classics, I've never had a bad meal there. Moussaka is aces- and enormous!. The macaronada and pastitsio will take your thoughts on pastas and stand them on their head. Falafel was hot, crispy and great to dunk in the hummus and baba ghanouj. (a tad gauche, I know, but try it!) Shawarma were excellent, though go with chicken over beef. The lamb shank- perfect. Everything a slow braise should be, rich, decadent, breathtakingly tender. Also important is value for money. The plates arrive and they might well be groaning under the weight of the food upon them- and you'll be tempted to eat every bite. As a chef myself, I know when the restaurant is trying hard with their food, and Nicks had that effort in spades. The place used to be a sports bar, and some of the choppy service habits were an unfortunate holdover. Every time I've gone back though, some part of the service was better, cleaner, smoother. I've got hopes for the place. I'll be back again if it's still around next time I'm nearby, read more

Food is pretty good. Music is great on Friday nights. Would definitely rate it higher if the service weren't so poor. Easily the worst service I've had in any restaurant within the last year or two. read more

Had the lamb souvlaki platter today. Outstanding. One thing they do great at Nick's is the fries. And the lamb is so flavorful. Comes w/their excellent Greek salad. Washed it down w/a cold Blue Moon. Satisfaction! read more
