FRENCH DIP
Erin K.

A true gem for lunch or dinner in Madison Park. Once you walk in you feel like you are walking into someone's house for a meal. They treat you like family and you feel comfortable. The place was nice, bright, and inviting. For drinks, we ordered a glass of Rose and a Spicy Margarita. Both drinks were delicious and my glass of Rose had a generous pour. For food, we ordered Mushroom Bruschetta, Apple & Radicchio Salad, and the French Dip. The staff was so nice and they split the salad and French dip sandwich and fries into two for us. I loved the depth on the mushroom flavors and on the grilled sourdough. I have recently been obsessed with Radicchio and this salad definitely satisfied my Radichhio craving. Accompanied with blue cheese and crispy bacon made the salad light and refreshing. This french dip sandwich was on Seattle Times best hot sandwiches and I understand why. The ratio of thinly sliced beef, caramelized onions, and provolone was perfection. Each bite dipped into the au jus along with the hand cut fries make for the perfect sandwich combo. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes and drinks.

Swung by last weekend for dinner and got to try the new nicoise salad. It was delicious! And such a great size for a light dinner option. Service and drinks were great, as always

We've been here before and it was great so it was really disappointing to have a bad meal and even worse service. We were seated in the back room which would have been okay except we were ignored from then on. Had to get the manager to take a minute to order drinks. Our waitress took her sweet time getting with us to order an appetizer. Another long wait to order entrees and she never bothered to see if we were fine, wanted more beverages or anything else! The waitress we had last time brought us our food and remembered us. My date had the rib eye that he didn't want to finish it was so poor. My risotto made me ill later in the evening. Our waitress never bothered to come back and ask if we wanted dessert. We had to ask for the check. We wanted to speak to the manager about it but he was too busy. We're not ones to stiff a server for bad food but she was a lousy waitress so she got a $5. That's $4.50 more than I would have left.

Spicy margarita and black Manhattan

Nick's did not disappoint this foodie!  We had reservations in the evening, but showed up early since we were able to sneak away from work a little early.  The place was just opening as we arrived and completely empty.  It gave us time to take in the beautiful bar and art work around the restaurant.  I enjoyed the casual feel of the place: open and airy, classy but not stuffy, clean and crisp. Our waitress greeted us and got our first round of drinks and let us know to enjoy the quiet time together while we could as they were expecting a full house (it was a Tuesday night mind you).  And indeed it began to fill up fast after 6PM.  And even when completely full and bustling, we were able to carry on a conversation with ease. We planned on doing all the courses, so we settled into our little spot and started sipping our delightful cocktails as we caught up on life.  Our waitress remained attentive just at the right times and it was clear she was very on top of it even while taking care of multiple tables! Our choices for the evening; my friend had the Spicy Margarita : just the right amount of spice and clearly made with all fresh ingredients.  The perfect bite of lime to compliment the smooth Tequila.  It was light and refreshing for sure.  But I'm a bourbon gal, so I opted for the Black Manhattan.  I loved the simplicity of this cocktail and the bourbon was perfect for a crisp fall evening.  Both cocktails were strong, so slow sipping is recommended.  For our second cocktails that evening she opted for the House Old Fashioned and I ordered an off menu a Vieux Carré.  Both were well made, but I really wish they had served mine a large rock as well instead of normal ice. For dinner we opted to share everything of course so we could both get the full experience.  Course one: Mushroom Bruschetta.  Oh lord was this so good.  The earthy mushrooms with the perfect thick cut sourdough and the slight bit of greens was a delight for our taste buds and had me very hopeful for things to come.  Second: The soup that night was a cauliflower and gruyere.  It was smooth, creamy, warm, and oh so savory.   We also paired it with the fig and poached pear salad.  They were both delicious and even my friend who said "I'm not sure I'll like that soup" loved it!  Third course:  We opted for the King Salmon and Duck Breast.  The salmon was very light with a wonderful earthy umami sauce with a hint of spiciness and texture added with the crispy rice.  The duck was rich and flavor forward and everything on the plate melded together perfectly!  We were both pretty full and happily buzzing at this time, but we decided to push through and get the final course while sipping some coffee and tea.  I had the spiced pumpkin cheesecake and she had the chocolate cake.  Both of them were decadent and sealed the deal for us that Nick's was indeed a spot to put on the list to come back to.   So get your reservation in and get an Uber so you can enjoy the evening and not have to skimp on their great cocktails ;)

My beautiful friends hangin' at Nick's!

Meeting up at Nick's is always a joyful experience! The ambience is light, the vibe is comfortable, the service is easy, the food is yummy and the team is warm and inviting. What's not to love!?!? Nick's is my all time Seattle favorite spot. And to be there with friends makes it an even more special night!

Charcuterie board with a Moscow mule and old fashioned
Sandra S.

Finally got a chance to check out Nick's On Madison for happy hour. They have a great selection of bites and some drinks on their hh menu. We ordered: the charcuterie board, bao buns, Caesar salad, Moscow mule, and an old fashioned. Everything tastes excellent and the service was great too. Looking forward to coming back for dinner next time!

I've been wanting to go to Nick's since it opened and finally had the chance. Everything was wonderful from the stunning decor to the wine and the food was absolutely perfect in every dimension! Will be adding this to our regular restaurant rotation!

The kind of place that has it all! Warm, friendly staff. Welcoming and fun vibe. Excellent cocktails. Superb service (Natasha was the best). And ... the food... wow!!!!! So good from start to finish. I recommend everything we ordered. We ordered one round of ceviche, scarfed it down and immediately ordered a second round. The Brussels are another must, prepared very light and crisp yet tasty. Least favorite would have been the eggplant and zucchini but even that was good! To top it off the owner, Nick, frequently pops by to make sure you're having a good time, he may even add an extra splash of rosé to your glass or surprise you with some frozé. Nick's has been added to my list of go-to spots!

I was looking for something that was close to the light rail as I was coming from Edmonds. I got there early and Carl welcomed to me with a glass of delicious champagne at the bar. When my friend showed up we were promotly sat at our table and started talking and catching up. We started with the prosciutto which was delicious, served with slivers of Parmesan and triangles of watermelon with grilled bread. We shared the mixed salad and it was perfect because it had a light dressing on it and was generously proportioned .My friend ordered the vegetable risotto and I had the scallops. Then we had the chocolate ganache with pears - yum!!!. Carl was a very attentive waiter; we didn't feel rushed at all, and we both left with our hearts and our bellies full.

The birthday celebrant was hoping for 1 beef course, but we were given 4 seafood courses and a dry pork belly. All the dishes were plated beautifully but all the dishes did not taste great. Although the scallop and fish were cooked to perfection and tasted delicious, not the the creative and exciting experience the other reviews raved about for the price. Lastly, we were charged a 4% "administration" fee, which was explained as the owner covering extra costs?! This was not disclosed prominently anywhere. Final impression bad taste in my mouth.

The attention to detail, quality of the food, presentation, staff, and overall experience was great. You certainly get what you pay for here! They welcome you to the patio in the back and provide a welcome libation, then seat you inside at your reserved table. You should sit at the counter. I am not sure this would have been as fun had we not. SO much tweezing going on you would think we were in a beauty salon. They tailor the menu in some regard to your needs, so make sure you fill out the questionnaire! If you are the type of person that needs to make every decision at every step of the way, not really the place for you. In fact, I made zero decisions upon arrival, which was great. It was well curated and each course was a nice progression. The chef and all the staff were pleasant, attentive and made sure things were done well and on-time. When you walk to the front, they start off with a drink choice. I had the cider, I can't remember the other one, but the cider was great! They had us sit in the back outdoor seating while the tables were getting ready. The restaurant inside is very cozy, not a lot of tables which seems to help the servers and chefs be more attentive. Every food item was brought out, explained, and was very visually appealing! This is definitely a place you go if you want to have an experience, and we were happily surprised at how well that experience went. Some of the top items were pasta in wagyu beef broth, scallops kind of like ceviche, savory macrons, squab (some kind of small bird), and the desserts were great as well! They also give you a little coffee or tea to go as you walk home which is nice, and the cups are pretty cute. One thing to note, is we had the non-alchoholic drink pairing, and thought it would be more like cocktails without alcohol. I would suggest you look more at what it actually entails via the drink menu before you have it. It's a lot of fermented items, so if you don't like kambucha then I would suggest getting something else. Overall though, I definitely recommend this place, I will be going back as their menu changes with the seasons.

They have two tasting menus (omnivorous and vegetarian) which I appreciate. We both chose the omnivorous. Portions are tiny but there's a lot of courses. Though I think their weekend brunch reservations usually book out fast so would recommend snagging a reservation in most cases. The space is intimate, but when we went there were only a few other people there making for a slow-paced peaceful dining experience on a gloomy Seattle day. The person with me has lots of food intolerances and our server went above and beyond to check with kitchen staff to double-check ingredients. I was truly appreciative of them being able to accommodate to them since their intolerances are pretty restrictive. I had the omelette which was delicious, I tend to lean on the savory side and enjoyed all the layers of this dish. A bit of heat from the sauce, the freshness of the greens, and richness of the omelette balanced each other nicely and really brought this dish to life. However, I was truly SURPRISED by the pancakes. I have never had pancakes like this and they were incredibly delicious. The portion was insane though I think you could easily share the pancake with 4-6 people. I almost wish it also came in a personal size.
