To call this place Nice is an understatement. It should be renamed Amazing. This was the closest coffee spot to my hotel that caught my attention on Yelp. I arrived before the rush hour crowd and got my cup of cold brew quickly. After picking up some stuff from my hotel, I spent over an hour here on a high table sipping my cold brew while on a Zoom call. The cold brew was great. The staff was very friendly. What's even better is that there is so much outdoor seating available for you to choose from. You can sit at the bar in front of the baristas, on a high table getting some work done, or on comfortable cushioned seats chatting with friends. Not just a NICE coffee place, it was a GREAT coffee place. The lines are long in the morning but rightfully so and worth the wait! They take orders and make the drinks pretty quick. The staff are friendly and greet you with a smile. I got a vanilla latte with less ice. It was the perfect balance of vanilla & espresso. They do charge 50 cents extra for light ice, but I'll take it for more coffee! Also, there is only one size. They also have a lot of pastries and breakfast burritos that I'll have to try next time. I was in town for work and this "nice" little coffee shop was on the way to my office. An iced mocha and cherry cake donut was the perfect way to start my morning. Left a lunch at Drago and decided to have post lunch coffee here at Nice. I was with a group of five. We walked up and they handled our group size with ease. Prompt service and quick turn on coffee. We even had a couple of people ask for changes to their drink after ordering and the staff was super cool and flexible about it. Coffee was good. My colleagues felt it was a little bitter but I actually love that. Our group ended up with vanilla lattes as well as peppermint and lavender. All very enjoyable. Next time I would order light syrup as my vanilla was on the sweeter side. I know this place serves some food too but we didn't try any on this visit. New favorite coffee pit stop in DTLA. The coffee here is delicious. I was honestly surprised at the quality. The location is pretty central, and I love the quiet shady courtyard that it's in. Giggling fountain in the midst of some corporate skyscrapers. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the coffee stand was founded by a well known barista. Service was great, fast and professional. The minimal aesthetic of the outcropping itself was very nice. Only draw was parking. As far as DTLA goes, not even any sort of street parking anywhere near the area. Nice! That's exactly what it was! I came here before work along others who had the same idea as me. I got the lavender latte with oat milk and a breakfast burrito. Service wise, it was awesome. They were so extremely friendly and welcoming, I wanted to stay. This small coffee stand had amazing pastries and coffee. I love how close I am to this place from work, and just the overall vibes of the surrounding area. I always see people enjoying their coffee in the courtyard so it's a very open, chic space. I got the chorizo breakfast burrito which was extremely hot and delicious. It came with two sides, an avocado crème based one and a mild verde salsa. Both complimented the burrito beautifully. The workers are super friendly - they really took the name of their shop seriously haha Being a stand, they don't have a very complex menu, but they do well with what they have. I got a plain latte, and it was exactly what I needed before I got started for the work day. There's plenty of outdoor seating in the plaza next to it. It's a cute coffee place for sure, but definitely more a place to stop by if you're in the area, not somewhere to go out of your way for. Set in the middle of an open-air plaza you can't miss it. When the weather is nice it's a great place to sit outside and enjoy your coffee. Prices are on the steeper side but nothing outrageous, especially in the specialty coffee world where I find the average to be about $5. Usually a black coffee drinker I went outside my comfort zone for the vanilla latte ($4.50) at the insistence of my co-workers. Not surprisingly I found it to be sweet but not intensely so which is an endorsement coming from a no sugar, no cream person. I will definitely return to try my usual (black coffee) and see how it fares but if you're a vanilla latte fan I'd say go for it. The baristas are also super helpful and knowledgeable should you have any questions or special milk requests. I strongly suggest walking here. There is a parking lot underneath (no street parking) but I'm assuming the fees are high. read more

Would I come back? Looking at pictures, it looks like their pastries vary from time to time. Yesterday I had the donut holes and they were amazing. It had filling inside and it was not overly sweet. Today I had the apple turnover. Not as amazing as the donut holes but it was good too. It was light, fluffy and buttery. I would definitely come back to try their other items that they have displayed. On both visits I ordered the cold brew. You can definitely get better/stronger cold brews at other nearby coffee shops, but this does its job. I just wish it was a little stronger. The first cup I had was good but on my second visit, the cold brew had a hint of sourness. Everything here is on the pricier side. Most of the bakery items are $5 and up so getting this everyday will be costly. The cold brew is $4 which is the average price you'd get around Downtown. read more

The drinks are tiny, like the size of a S-Bux "tall." And bummer of all bummers: I was picking up my vanilla latte and saw they had a separate "specialty" latte menu off to the far side, where you pick up your drink. It was on a pink felt board with white lettering so difficult to notice and read. They had a pumpkin spice latte! Grrrr. My vanilla latte was good, but I really would've preferred a seasonal drink. There are so many amazing coffee shops across DTLA that it's overwhelming, but Nice Coffee has a huge chunk of the business marketed cornered over in West DTLA, and it's because they run a great shop. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The folks at Nice Coffee are amazing, and they can burn through even the most robust workday lines. You've got to be pretty buttoned up in knowing what you want, so take inventory up front so that you don't draw the ire of your fellow patrons. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $4.75 for a smaller Vanilla Latte and $5.00 Koign-Amann - reasonable. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything at Nice Coffee was very good. The Vanilla Latte was the right balance of sweet and bitter, and while not one of the best I've had in recent memory, the Koign-Amann was well executed thanks to a nice layer of caramel on the bottom. Additional kudos to Nice Coffee for having a wide range of good looking sandwiches as well. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Right smack in the middle of Downtown LA and the Financial District is the City National Plaza. In the courtyard near the big fountain sculpture is where you'll find this kiosk building. You would think it's like a box that opens out with those doors on a food truck but it is a neat little building that open up on all sides. That's how you know you're at the right place. The daily sandwich is always gone by the time I get here. I looked at the menu on the wall and asked myself, self: do you want a vanilla latte or a mocha? I ordered the vanilla latte with almond milk, no soy available in case you were looking for different options like I was. The red color chocolate donut looked really good but the name was better for the vanilla orange donut. Choices between a rising dough or no rise donut. The donut is a little chewy and a slight hint of orange. One of these days I'll get here to try the breakfast burrito and the daily sandwich before they quickly run out. read more

What's nice about this nice coffee shop is it's nicely located in the newly renovated plaza area between the Paul Hastings and City National twin towers. Located adjacent to the iconic fountain area between two buildings, it's a nice place to grab a nice cup of coffee. The area adjacent is renovated with patio type seating and some bar table type seating. Nice spot to chill during a nice work break. Cold brew is nicely smooth. Nothing extraordinary. Just nice. The serve up espresso, mocha, lattes, and some nice pastries. I haven't tried the house made donuts but they do look pretty nice. Okay.. Enough of this niceness..
