Iced Mocha
Marcus C.

It's all in the name - Nice Coffee is nice! Located in the courtyard of the City National Plaza DTLA on Flower between 5th & 6th, Nice Coffee is completely outside with plenty of tables around but most businesspeople get theirs to go on the way to the office. Nice Coffee is closed on the weekends, so it's only available during the week. They offer your standard coffees and breakfast food like croissants, pastries & burritos (burritos served until 11:30AM). For lunch they offer some sandwiches. Tues-Thurs they offer happy hour (aka Nice at Nite) at 4PM with last call at 6:45PM. For that they offer wine and beer along with some food (lunch sandwiches, hot dogs & pretzels). Happy hour food is served until 6:30PM. Their coffee is good, with their iced mocha being my go-to. Fyi- all coffees come in one size (12 oz) and they charge extra if you modify your milk. Overall Nice Coffee isn't a bad choice if you're downtown looking for a coffee fix.

Discovered another solid coffee spot. Even with the 10am rush, service was quick. Great selection of food and drinks, plenty of seating, and a prime location across from the LA Library. The vibe here is just right.

Backdrop of early morning sunshine through skyscrapers and my Latte, facing Flower Street.

I arrived at 7th St. Metro Transit Station and started my walk up to Westin Bonaventure Hotel, then noticed I was early enough to sit and enjoy a cup of joe. Friendly faces at this establishment, and delicious pastries lined up inside a glass case, made it worthwhile for me line up and order a latte. The whole front courtyard area of the City National Bank facing Flower Street is open to customers. I chose a spot and took this picture. Early morning downtown skyscrapers with the morning sun peeping through the "aisles " of buildings.... "Good morning sunshine!"

This coffee was amazing! I didn't realize the establishment would be outside and I was looking for a place to work and use my laptop. But the person at the register told me they are known for coffee not WiFi so I couldn't complain! They definitely know what they are doing with coffee; and will definitely have to come back on a warmer day to sit and enjoy the views.

Location: A sense of freedom, a large view, the air , the open sky, between modernity and old charm. Service: Literally the best people you can order coffee from, conversations included. Coffee: Solid, served in ceramic cups (should be mandatory) Food: great snacks and nice mini burritos

"Almond Croissant" and a Latte

Overpriced and overrated. Coffee is average, there's much better coffee nearby. I just wanted to give it a shot since it was on my way. The cashier was rude, and rushing me when it was just me in line... I ordered an almond croissant and she did not disclosed it was filled with strawberry and it wasn't labeled anywhere either. At this place you are paying for its location and the nice seating next to the water fountain. I paid $10 for a croissant, $7 for a coffee... and definitely $0 for service. Nice and free place to sit though!

Cold brew. Hot coffee. Sweets.

Thank goodness for Nice Coffee! Pre-Covid, it was a great alternative to the ubiquitous Starbucks on almost every other city block. Since the Starbucks in the nearby vicinity has been closed, Nice has been an oasis in a coffee desert! The line comes and goes. Sometimes it can be confusing as to where the line ends. They have a great selection of pastries and savory items. The breakfast burritos are just the right size. I haven't had the chance to try their lunch option but I'm sure they are delish! As for coffee, I am a creature of habit and always order the cold brew. On occasion they have a sparkling cold brew (cold brew mixed with a sparkling, flavored water.) It's a short wait for the cold brew. I've seen others waiting for their drinks. I have no idea what they've ordered. Enjoy!

Many years ago, I worked in the building where Nice Coffee now sits. My 1998 mind would have been blown by coffee this good! On a recent visit I was drawn to the beautiful outdoor Cafe. I got in line and ordered my pastry and coffee to stay. Far more than a coffee counter for local workers, the coffee, the pastry, the presentation were all phenomenal. My cortado was excellent. Later, I learned that a founder of the excellent Handsome Coffee is behind the place. That explained a lot. The savory butternut squash pastry was delicate and delicious. Staff were friendly and moved quickly. The morning light made everything look gorgeous and glamorous. Everything about the cafe seems carefully designed in the best way. I'll be back every time I'm in LA.

The oat milk lattes & chocolate croissants are both so good. Love that it's an outdoor cafe with seating. Also they have a cashier that looks vaguely like Chance the Rapper, and he was super nice. Would be back next time I'm in LA

I promise you this is the best iced matcha latte in DTLA if you're looking for something close to your office! It's not sweetened and the oat milk doesn't overpower the matcha, like the majority of iced matcha lattes I have had in this area. The matcha taste is robust and strong! I also love that they have a bottle of simple syrup on the side for you to add as you need. Ambience: Casual open seating area, great for people watching. Service: Everyone who helped me out was very friendly. The vibes are great!

Was at the DTLA library and needed some coffee. I'm happy that this place is right next to it and I can see why it's ranked number 1 in the area. The service is good and staff are very friendly. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Not too sweet with a crispy outer layer. Mocha was delightful. This hits the mark for me since I like my mocha not very sweet but with a hint of chocolate. The area provides a lot of outdoor seating which is perfect for the area

Is there a pre-order app or a way to order ahead?

Does Nice Coffee do gift certificates?

Yes, gift cards

Where is the best place to park, at the best price? I will be coming from 10am-12pm?

Parking under the library (across the street) is easy and the library will validate if you have a library card. See details here - https://www.lapl.org/branches/central-library/parking

Are their donuts hot (or made to order)?

Hi Srividya. We don't have facilities or proper permitting at the coffee bar to make donuts so we make them at our kitchen and send them over a few times each day. Look out for proper donut retail shops soon!

Yelp came through again with the recommendations for this adorable little Italian restaurant about a mile away from the comedy club. We were charmed by the cozy industrial chic decor and chose to sit outside on the festive patio, which is shielded from the traffic on the street by plant boxes full of plants, large umbrellas, and market lights. Love that the table settings are mismatched in the most charming way. Our plates were so beautiful, and we had fun showing ours off to one another. The servers are wonderful and friendly. Our main server took care to ask us what time our comedy show was because she wanted to make sure to get our food out to us so that we wouldn't be late. I thought that was very considerate of her. We ordered the burrata, meatballs, and meat-lovers pizza to share. The burrata and pesto sauce tasted so fresh, and there was enough burrata to spread on top of our meatballs and pizza. The meatballs were very flavorful, and the meat-lovers pizza was quite tasty as well. It was actually the perfect girl dinner for three, and we were pretty stuffed afterwards. One of the regulars who come to this restaurant made sure to tell us how much she loved it here and told us to come back for brunch or lunch. Honestly, you know a place is good when the regulars take time out of their lives to speak to strangers about how much they love it. I was sad that it was too late to order the pistachio latte (I can't have caffeine after 4 PM) but I hope to be in the area early enough to try it for brunch soon!

It's located on the first floor of the LEVEL hotel/apartments so the place is really small. In regards to parking, I would recommend street parking or parking across the street where there are two $10 parking lots with lots of parking that is relatively safe. My girlfriend and I walked here, as we were in DTLA already. We have walked by this place many times and it always looks really fun. The best part about dining here is definitely the vibes. The server (there was only one working on Saturday night...) was super nice and friendly but albeit super busy. There was a group in the patio singing karaoke and another large group here for a birthday party. There were a few smaller tables of 2-4 inside for a more relaxed/chill vibes yet still very lively. The food here was not bad but tbh quite mid. We ordered four items in addition to two glasses of wine ($12 + $16). For a starter, we ordered a charcuterie board ($17), caesar salad ($18) and for our mains, we ordered pepperoni pizza ($27), and the cacio e pepe pasta ($20). Now, what really irked me was the order in which the food came out. We definitely expected the charcuterie board and salad first but everything came out in such a WEIRD order. Definitely not fitting for a meal. You order off a QR code and after about 10-15 minutes, the PASTA came out first. And then about 5 minutes later, the caesar salad came out. We waited about 40 more minutes for the pepperoni pizza and then 10 minutes later, the charcuterie board came out AT THE END. ??? I don't know why they think this is normal ?? It's just totally weird and is a big reason why I'm only giving this place a 3/5 despite the great vibes. The food is fine and still tasted good but I just didn't like having to wait until the end of the meal for bread... Btw - I highly recommend the caesar salad! Check out the pictures because it looks as delicious as it tastes. The cacio e pepe was solid. The pizza was more like a flatbread and despite it being the full size rather than the personal size, it was still pretty small and is probably the size of a kids meal at CPK lol. I wouldn't recommend the charcuterie board because it seems really small for bread and two options and it cost $17 and came at the end :( I know it was a busy night but that unfortunately made the service less than ideal. The singular server was really nice and always had a smile on her face. But she didn't really pay us much attention. We also asked for water refills 3 times but it never came... sad because I really needed water at the end! The charcuterie bread was so dry... :/ Overall, 3/5 stars for me. High expectations that fell short. Will try again for drinks...

We started with the Wine Station Salad and it was the perfect light opener. The lettuce was crisp, the candied walnuts added a subtle sweetness, and the cherry tomatoes were fresh and juicy. The parmesan and house dressing pulled it all together. It felt balanced and refreshing without being boring. Next up was the Pizza 4 Fromages with truffle added. If you love cheese, this is your move. The blend of cheeses was rich and creamy, and the truffle hit right away without overpowering the tomato sauce. The crust had a nice crisp edge and held everything together perfectly. Definitely a standout. We also shared the charcuterie board and that was ideal for pairing with wine. A great assortment of meats and cheeses, plus olives, pickles, and toasted bread. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. It's the kind of board you can slowly work through while enjoying a few glasses. The vibe inside The Wine Station is relaxed but elevated. It's perfect for date night, catching up with friends, or just unwinding after work in Downtown LA. If you're looking for a wine bar in DTLA that actually has food worth ordering, this is it. In the same vein, we stuck with a similar style of food and ended up at Propaganda. There was little to no wait, which was pleasant. It was a nice day and we decided to eat outside. The focaccia bread and salad came out first, and both were good. I enjoyed the crispiness of the bread, though my only qualms were that the bread was quite oily and the butter and salt were just a tad bit too salty for my liking. The Insalata Mista salad was solid. Good flavor, good dressing-to-salad ratio, and a surprisingly good portion size. As far as pizza goes, the Margherita was good. Tasty, moist, and a nice crunch on the crust. I found it to be enjoyable, though I may have enjoyed more fresh basil on this. I did find it better than the Boscaiola. I got the black truffle honey add on, and it does not go well on this pizza in my opinion. There was virtually no taste of truffle to me, and more of just an aftertaste of oily sweet honey. This was a miss. It's hard to say whether the base pizza was good without it because the flavor profile was just too overpowered by the aftertaste. The Arts District is definitely coming up with new upscale dining establishments, and I'm there for it. I think this is a solid addition. Though this is a wine bar, I don't generally drink, so my review is based purely on the food. Results of their drinks, which is quite an extensive list, may be to your liking! They do have an inexpensive three wine flight, for reference!

NOVEMBER 26.2025…read more I've been through many iterations of The Library Bar over the years... from small and cozy secret bar for those that work in the looming skyscrapers of Downtown LA to being some noisy urban hip hop affair that served godawful drinks (see my past review!), and on back to being a calm and casual neighborhood bar again. The interior never changes... dark... illuminated by candlelight... the bust of Shakespeare over the fireplace, the shelves of old books-- all of it remains intact. But this latest Library Bar seems to have finally dialed in what was always sorely missing in that it showcases a conscientious staff that all seem to know how to mix drinks while treating the customer well by leaving them be. On one night my date and I share a "Black Manhattan," basically a Manhattan with the generous addition of Averna, and it's terrific. On another night, I go for Happy Hour and a few pints of Guinness on draft that are surprisingly proper and go well with their excellent and, I'm told, homemade Hummus & Veggies Plate. The music at this current Library Bar is pretty much on point and is never so loud as to interfere with the conversations that patrons seem to come here for... something you should come here for too, and maybe at Happy Hour specifically if you're looking for a nice bump in your day and to spend an hour, well, happily.
