Virtue Coffee is such a gem in downtown LA -- and conveniently right by my building. There's a parking lot directly across the street, so it's super easy to run in and out, even during busy hours. The service is always fantastic, and the menu is honestly dangerously good. Everything looks fun, unique, and absolutely delicious. I keep wanting to try the entire menu one drink at a time. Their drinks pack the caffeine punch I'm always looking for, and the owner is incredibly accommodating. I sometimes come in with quirky or complicated orders, and he consistently handles them with zero attitude and perfect execution. On a sunny Friday Morning, I started my day with a quick walk to Virtu Coffee. I was extremely fascinated by the plants the wrapped around the entrance way. I felt like I teleported to somewhere tropical with a mix of native NYC vibes. My sister and I had the pleasure of talking with the Owner of the coffee shop who is actually a NYC native. He was very friendly and shared a little history about the name behind one of our selected drinks which was the Savannah Banana Latte. I had the option of choosing if I wanted my Latte iced or hot. I opted for the hot version, I was NOT disappointed. I've tried banana lattes a couple times in my life and this was by far the best flavor. I could completely taste the essence of a ripe banana. He was really focused; it took some time because he's a one-man shop. However, the drinks were delicious. Loved my cinnamon toast latte and the lemonades were so refreshing. Was wondering if he was just having a rough day but after reading other reviews I think that's just how he is. That being said, this tortured barista artist knows how to make a matcha. Came here for a quick coffee to go and it was a cute little cafe in downtown LA. There's some seating outdoors, and the staff was nice. They sold other packaged beverages in their fridge section, although I didn't get anything from there. I liked the vibe of the cafe, it had books that you can exchange and they also sold pastries. I got their iced matcha latte and liked it! It was not too sweet and the matcha was good. I got it with oat milk so it was creamy. I'd definitely come again if I was in the area. Wanted to like this spot because it has cool vibes and a unique menu, but the customer service was rude/gruff. He took a while to make each drink and in between giving the customers in front of us their drinks and taking my friend's and my order, he stopped to watch the baseball game being projected on the back wall and to eat ramen. He seemed annoyed taking our orders, even though we waited patiently for him to finish. We were both going to get the ube matcha latte, but he ran out of ube and only had enough for one drink. It felt weird that it was only around noon and already so many of the drinks were crossed off the menu due to ingredients running out. Matcha latte was fine but pricey at about $8. I was originally planning on getting Philz but decided to try out a small business instead. It was about a 10 minute walk from where I work but I said why not. The place is very clean and homey. I felt like the guy working wasn't having the best of days or was just not in the mood to talk which was off-putting but I ignored it. I tried asking for suggestions and he kind of gave me nothing so I went for the Asap Yam which was ok. I would probably try something else if I go back. Having a book exchange is pretty neat though. I did a Google search of coffee shops around my hotel and saw that Virtu Coffee was a 4 minute walk from it. I stopped by Virtu around 9:30am and found an adorable coffee shop right next to the Pico Station. I strolled in right when the guest before me received his drink, so there was virtually no wait. Service was great. There was one barista holding down the fort, and she was very nice and helpful. Virtu Coffee had a solid selection of pastries. The matcha date scone was highly tempting, and I loved that they offered turkey and cheese croissants. I don't eat pork, so this was the alternative I've wished that more cafes and bakeries would offer. They also had an interesting list of specialty lattes. It was hard to choose, but I ended up settling for an iced latte with caramel and honey called " 'G' Spot". It had oat milk as the base, but I swapped it out for coconut milk. Delicious latte and on the sweeter side if that's your jam. read more

It seems to be only one worker- the owner, so drinks would take some time and the store front is small. He gets along with the regulars from the apartment- I think he mentioned he opened this store up for a little more than a year or so. He doesn't really converse much but he's p cool. Virtu is a little piece of NYC in LA! Love the energy here. My coworkers and I stopped in for some tea (ceremonial macha & chai), and we chatted for awhile with the barista/owner. He was super nice and thoughtful. We really like all the random tchotchkes, like the 'leave a book, take a book' shelf and the basketball trading cards! Such a cozy atmosphere that reminded me of home. Virtu will surely become our regular spot. read more

Little spot right next to the Pico station on the E line. Quite the variety of drinks with one guy running the show. Our orders came out quickly though. Some seating inside & out, but this is downtown. Not a lot of space anywhere. A$AP Yam latte - felt silly saying this out loud. It was a delicious latte, but I didn't really taste the ube in this. Wish it would've been more prominent or I would've ordered a normal latte. There's a pretty good selection of drinks here, and the interior is beautiful with lots of vining plants. I'd probably return if I were in the area. Definitely more of a grab n go (or grab and talk) but not great for getting work done. At least you can bum a parking meter for short enough to not get ticketed while ordering. read more

This is a must-visit coffee shop located in DTLA. I drank the asap yam latter for the first time months ago and haven't had it since because I live far. I happen to be in the area for a convention and purchased another asap yam latte (this time iced) and it was just as good as the first time. THere is only one guy working and I believe he is the owner so the wait times can get kinda long but the taste makes up for the wait! I highly recommend this place.
