This time, I ordered a hot orange vanilla latte. The citrusy flavor mainly seemed like a subtle hint in flavor that blended well with the light sweetness from the vanilla. The latte was pricy at $7, so I considered this drink as a treat to end the work week. I also appreciated the latte art on my drink. To my recollection, I don't think I've ever bought a hot latte with art on top. There were only a few people inside the cafe on a Friday. They're busier on other days to accommodate the influx of office workers. The barista was also nice, and it was easy to order my drink.
Visited this place on a workday and there's a lot of office workers there. The matcha latte is average/typical, definitely not ceremonial grade matcha used. It is smooth and silky, but there's no umami and strong matcha notes. The wait can be a bit long since they're pretty busy. The staff is very friendly. The shop is pretty spacious, there are sitting areas inside. It's a good option for a quick coffee or drink if you're in the area.
This place is such a nice spot if you're visiting the Broad or MOCA! It's inside an office building but you can spot if from the street. The immediate impression was great especially the atmosphere. The shop was super inviting with high ceilings and a very airy flow. I can imagine working here for hours. The coffee was great. I used to be a barista at a third wave specialty coffee shop so I always listen to the sound of milk steaming when I walk in to figure out whether or not I'll get a good hot espresso drink. The sound was perfect, not too high pitch nor too bellow-y. We got a Cappuccino with oat milk to share. It was very well made and oat milk is not the easiest to steam so that says a lot. The staff up front was super friendly. I could tell she knows a lot of the regulars who probably work upstairs in the building. The barista is also very "on it" with how they moved about behind the bar. The interior had so many different seating options. Some are great for conversing, some for lounging, and some for working/studying. I would definitely come back here to try some of their special coffee options next time based on how well the cappuccino was made.
Saw this place while on a walk, just a block south of the Broad. Stopped by for some coffee. They only have one size cup but they can add more shots if desired. Spacious interior lots of comfortable seats. Also have a selection of pastries and sandwiches too for a quick bite.
Where has this coffee shop been all my life? If I could give more than 5 stars on Yelp, this place would absolutely get them. The Nutella coffee? Wow. And wow again. The brown sugar cinnamon? Completely out of this world. When I tell you I wanted to order one of everything on the menu, believe me. It's also a great loungy hangout spot with plenty of tables and outlets if you need to get some work done. Enough said. Do yourself a favor, get in there and taste the magic.
Visited lontra coffee while they were having the dodgers latte special in the middle of our famous parade. Service was fast, people were coming in to just grabs and go so they were serving pretty quickly. It's a nice big space inside of a building with other businesses so there's room to lounge and work if you'd like. I got the blue dodger latte which was just a vanilla latte and blue dyed milk. The latte itself was good just expensive being $10. My dad got a black coffee and told me it wasn't the best, saying it was too bitter for his preference, $5. Personally I thought the latte was good just not $10 good, I think they were just trying to make some money off of something blue.
I'm not a coffee guy so take this all with a grain of salt. I drink Black mud dumped into a mug every morning. Lontra is convenient by the Metro and the art museums. Grand Ave Arts station is right behind it. Short walk and you're there. Splurged on a hot Pecan Pie Coffee. Real nice brown sugar/molasses notes paired with that distinctive Pecan flavor! Only thing that hinders me is it was $9 lol. I get the price and I get the quality of ingredients. It's just not something for me but it was nice to try.
Popped in today for my first ever visit Literally recommended by a man walking down the street . The Coffee shop is in close proximity to The Broad, MOCA, Walt Disney Concert Hall The interior is beautiful and modern , I didn't really like that there wasn't clear signage , the menu was literally a piece of paper located near register My aunt ordered a brown sugar cinnamon latte and it was absolutely delicious !! My Matcha Latte didn't really meet my expectations , HOWEVER the customer service I received when I went to talk to them about my beverage was actually amazing , I found the employees attentive and and fully satisfied right after I will pop in for sure next time I'm down town
Tried their new spring menu item, which was great! Price is a bit steep at 8.50, which deters me from ordering it more often. Sweetness was there but could tell that the espresso was still high quality. I think this is definitely better ordered as a coffee rather than a matcha, and was happy with my choice.
I like to try their seasonal flavors when it's something I'd like. Tried honey kiwi? Flavor in the fall and it was a bit too sweet. But WOW. This strawberry matcha is absolutely amazing! Great flavor, and it mixes well so the matcha and strawberry flavor are both there without overpowering the other. Really good, I wish it wasn't seasonal! Service is always good, nice indoor space although I normally order to go.

Once a week I work in my company's Downtown LA office. Lontra Coffee is in the lobby of the building. I decided to pop in one morning to satisfy my caffeine fix. This spot used to be Lucky's and from what I heard the previous owner abruptly closed the shop and the baristas decided to open their own place. Menu offerings include drip, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and seasonal specials featuring house-made syrups. Fresh pastries are also available in addition to cold beverages and grab & go items. You can also pick up merchandise too. I was amazed at how big this place is. To be honest, the first time I passed by it was packed at noon and I thought it was a bar because there are communal tables, couches, TVs, and the music was bumping. Truth is, the owners just want to provide a welcome environment and a gathering spot to socialize with friends. (It would be cool if they served wine.) The morning of my visit I received an enthusiastic welcome from co-owner Patti. She was a doll, and we had a nice chat about her dog Ollie. Glancing over the menu, the Tres Leches Latte looked tempting, but I knew my stomach would never forgive me so I ordered the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte with almond milk for an additional .50 cents. The first sip was absolute bliss. It was creamy, smooth, and nicely balanced. I didn't taste any bitterness, and the coffee flavor wasn't overpowering. It was one if the best lattes I've had. *Metered street parking. *Closed on weekends.

They offer a variety of coffee drinks (hot/cold), pastries and specialty summer. Its atmosphere is very relaxing with a modern, spacious interior high ceilings and huge windows. Furthermore, they have some coffee bags, mugs and merch for sale. I came at the middle of the afternoon to grab a hot Latte. It was perfectly made to my liking. Prices are fair for the area. Tried the new coconut mango espresso drink. A little overpriced came out to $9 for a small latte. It came with espresso although it wasn't that strong. Maybe 1 shot. For that price they should throw in another shot, please? I ordered the drink half sweet and it was okay, nothing too special to rave about. read more

My wife and I stopped by this stylish-looking cafe for a coffee and a cappuccino. The long, narrow room with high ceilings and artfully spaced overhead lamps and a soothing brown and beige color scheme embraced us in a soothing way. The woman who served us at the counter was friendly and welcoming, just what you want in a coffee shop. And the coffee was strong and rich and the cappuccino indulgent and on the creamy side. It's a serene vs. a buzzy coffee shop. It really was the perfect place for us to take a break on our way to a concert at the Walt Disney Music Hall. Next time I'm in this area, either for a concert or to visit the nearby Broad Museum, I'll pop in here again. read more

Downtown Los Angeles across from MOCA is the Lontra Coffee store. They have such an adorable logo for their store, it looks like a very cute otter. Overall I had a nice cup of coffee and decided I wanted to try their Lavander Haze and that was delicious! I would get this again and if you love lavender as much as I do you will for sure like this drink! The inside has so many different places to pick from. They have long tables and chairs and some with just two people and a nice big style couch in the front. So if you are in this area and looking for some tasty coffee that is also adorable this is the one! read more

My go to DTLA spot. Friendly staff (always remembers my order which is a bonus) quick in and out service. Parking can be located on the side of the building and you enter a business building. Only open during the week which I'm sad about, but definitely a must. Coffee quality is very good and quantity is good as well. My go to is a Mocha cinnamon. Tables to work or sit. Couch to relax on as well. read more

This place is a hidden gem in downtown LA. Parking is a little tricky however, the inside is very spacious with couches and tables and a very relaxed environment. I came here today and the line was almost out the door. However, the service was very quick. The baristas were so welcoming they gave me some great recommendations. I ordered the strawberry matcha with oat milk. And it was the BEST one I've tried. Prices are great. Taste is great and service was absolutely AMAZING. they made me feel like a regular customer, even though it was my first time I will come here again. read more
I think this place has the best coffee shop atmosphere in downtown. The tall windows and natural sunlight in the mornings make the coffee runs so pleasant and the baristas are all so friendly. There's lot of seating and there's always a gentle chatter so it's great for coffee chats or getting a little work done in a not so tense environment. The menu selection is a little limited since they make everything from scratch but the highlight is that the seasonal items that come and go are delicious. The downside is that the coffee shop is mostly for locals of the neighboring business buildings since street parking is competitive and they're not open on weekends. read more

These experienced baristas recently opened Lontra after previous owner shut the coffee shop. The service is warm and welcoming. The space is beautiful. Lontras menu is smaller than previous shop. They have a few baked goods, some kombucha based beverages and a few other snacks. The coffee menu is standard with drip, espresso, cappuccino and lattes. They have a seasonal menu as well with pumpkin cold brew, pumpkin latte,etc. I forgot to take a photo. I ordered the oat latte and it was very good. I am excited to see how they evolve and bring their own style to this location. read more

I was in LA for a short work trip, but fortunate enough to have two breakfasts here - you guys, this place is fabulous! I had their jalapeño cheese croissant that they served warm and coffee that was actually hot, not lukewarm! The croissants were baked to perfection with the right balance of cheese and a nice bite of spice from the peppers. Their lattes were really good too - they were the perfect start to my day, hence why I came back the next morning! read more

We were looking for a cute coffee shop near The Broad and were so happy to find Lontra! So yummy and very friendly staff. The marble cake was bigger and better than we hoped. Big bonus to have validated parking in a safe garage too! Definitely recommend read more

Lontra Coffee is an absolute gift and a treasure to LA Coffee and was a destination stop for me in my travels and now always will be. Not only is the coffee incredible, the service is friendly in an above-and-beyond capacity and the story of how Patti, Jesse & Alvaro cultivated this shop makes you want to support over and over again. Their signature drinks are always on point, the latte art is breathtaking & they're doing wonders with Flux Coffee! Definitely try one of everything on the menu. read more
