Cakes
Vince A.

I just so happened to try a cake at an event a year ago and found out it came from this bakery. The cake was a simple sponge cake but so delicious that I needed to come give these folks some business. I was glad to come here to find a beautiful selection of baked snacks and ready-made cakes, with the option for custom orders as well. They also make fresh drinks too. I selected a few baked items to take home, but the highlight of my visit was the Taro Mochi Bun. OMG, whatever you do next in your lifetime, make a plan to try this. My life was going in a downward spiral, but this saved me. Just kidding, but yes, these are too good to not pass up. I don't needed to describe tasting this, but if you say Taro Mochi Bun out loud, it's basically calling out the holy trinity of yum. I spoke to the lady behind the counter and the cakes are decently priced. Around the $40 range for a standard, and a little more with fresh fruit added. Either way, a nice spot. My only gripe is that the parking lot is a hot mess, because it's limited and tiny. Also the other drivers who go to this strip mall, I assume, are legally blind.

TLDR: grab and go Chinese bakery, avoid if you care THAT much about service When I go to a Chinese bakery, I'm going solely for the bread, especially if there's no seating and it's grab-and-go. So if the bread is good, the lady can cuss me out and I won't care as long as I get my goods. That said, the owner of Ni Ni will not cuss you out (don't worry), but she primarily speaks Mandarin, so do give her a bit of grace. The taro mochi buns and coffee chocolate buns are my favorite. Not very sweet but still quite decadent from the amount of filling. Parking is a bit difficult but it's better after Torotea lost some of its hype.

Amazing tasing buns here at ni ni bakery. Their peanut butter bun is one of my favorite buns. Its got a nice creamy texture with minced peanuts on top of a baked pineapple bun. Their red bean bun is a favorite of my daughter and our family. Can't go wrong with the red bean bun staple. Got their meat floss bun but have not tried it yet, but i am sure its delicious because of the combination of meat floss and buttery goodness bun. The coconut and raisin bun is also a super delicious with a nice balance of coconut and raisin. Also a staple for those who love coconut buns. Highly recommend you stop by here for their buns. They also have drinks on deck and coffee. I have yet to try their drinks but will try it one of these days.

NINI BAKERY, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH Thank you so much for saving me from my hunger as I was waiting like a fool next door for Torotea. Your green onion bread and curry cake is amazing and kept me well fed but your turnip cake was the shining star!! The first bite of your turnip cake was first love and i had to come back immediately to buy 6 more for about $13 and save $2 ish. You can mix and match with the turnip cake and curry cake. You are a hole in the wall gem, please don't ever leave meeeeee

Bought some pastries here while we were waiting in line and they were tasty! Prices are reasonable and the bread is soft. I got the mini hot dog buns and garlic bread and enjoyed both. We came in the later afternoon so the selection wasn't as vast but still got some good things! Will be back when I'm in the area!

Located right next to toro tea. Decided to stop in while on the waitlist. This little bakery has some delicious pastries, cakes, macaroons, breads and teas. Friendly service welcoming atmosphere. The pastries and breads are in display cases you can open and grab as they are individually wrapped. A similar routine like 85 bakery. Refrigerated items are neatly packaged for travel. They take card with a minimum $10 otherwise there's a .50 cent charge. Fruit cocktail cake was light and spongy with just the right amount of sweet. The red bean bun was super soft a tasty bite. So if you ever find yourself on the waitlist for some tea stop in here for a treat while you wait.

Their cakes are fluffy and not too sweet! One of our go-to birthday cake spots. They have different ones to choose from. I've always called in to reserve/make before pick up. Not sure if they have any premade for sale. Staff was so sweet when we asked to write our name on the mango cake, there wasn't any space or area that was flat enough to do so. They offered a white chocolate plaque and red food gel to write it instead. They always give us a $2 coupon off their pastries when we purchase a cake but we don't ever come by this bakery unless we're picking up a cake.

I was in the area and didn't realize that there was a location in Diamond Bar. I usually go to the one in Rowland heights, and I get the bread with the egg salad. So I go to this location and see that they still have some available. Initially I wasn't going to get it because it was later in the day, and thought they might not be as fresh. Should have trusted my instincts! I take a couple a bite and notice that the filling tasted super sour...take another small piece to confirm what I'm tasting and it was just terrible! I called to ask them if it was supposed to taste like that..the lady I spoke to said that it was and that they put ketchup on it. It tasted as sour as pickle juice, don't think that's normal. I honestly wanted to get my money back for the two I bought which comes out to be almost $10, after speaking to the lady, I knew that wasn't going to happen... even though they are affiliated with them, I'll stick to the Rowland Heights location. What a waste.

Lots of variety of bread and very friendly staff! They also have a lot of traditional Chinese pastries like mooncakes and a huge menu for drinks at a decent price point! They have a few cake options as well. I tried their flakie cake recently and that was good. Not too sweet and has nice crispy flaky layers. I tried their egg, potato salad bread which was pretty good. The ingredients are very fresh. The actual bread itself was just ok, like plain bread. They had some items by the cashier for buy two get one free. There is a minimum requirement of $10 to use a credit card. It's very convenient for a quick bite if you're in the area.

Came here to get some bread after getting some tea at Torotea next door. Didn't have that much selection left at 6 pm but still was able to find a few things I liked. They had many empty boxes so I assume they have a much larger selection in the morning. Price is very reasonable, I spent like $12 for 4 items. The buns were pretty good and really no complaints in terms of quality. I'd pickup more when I'm in the area and craving some bread.

I came here after having a appointment nearby and saw several people leaving with bags of bread. I chose to get a wheat egg salad ($3.25) which was soft and had a good amount of filling. Green onion bun ($2.60) was not too oily and had alot of green onion toppings. They also had a mochi taro bun ($2.60) that was pretty good, it was moist and not too sweet. $10 min to use card. The staff is nice and the parking lot is a good size.

Sweet potato bun (?)- forgot the name but it's a long roll with purple sweet potato in it. Again, not overly sweet and very enjoyable. Their breads are very soft and fluffy. I thought, what about a sweet potato cake. Found two Korean bakers that had sweet potato cakes on the menu. It was kismet this bakery was just down the street from a restaurant we chose for his birthday dinner. I called and the owners took down my name and the fact I'll be there around 7 at night. Didn't even take down payment info or number. I got there a little after 7 & saw they had sweet potato cakes left. Reasonably priced too! $40 for larger and $30 for smaller. I thought $30 would work for just 4 of us but for $10 extra, my partner thought we should splurge. The owner remembered me from the phone call and addressed me by name. While his wife was ringing me up, her husband came up to me with a bag of bread to throw in. That was so sweet. With their service, variety and price point, we'll be back. The cake was delicious too. Not sure how cold their display is but the cream filling in the middle was just cold enough to taste like soft serve ice cream. Intentional or not, it was delicious!

My first bite was very dry and I wasn't sure what I was tasting. It didn't taste like crab for sure, so I had a second bite. It was bad. I asked one of the workers if I could switch it out with anything, she said she'll ask the manager. The assistant manager came and told me that she cannot swap it out and that I should have read in the description that it's only imitation crab meat. Ok, I can own that, I could have read the fine print. But it wasn't just the taste, it was also the texture, the over fried dried dough... I really wish that she could have been more understanding and more accommodating. It's only a bakery item and not a prime rib dinner. Not only the crab croquette left a bad taste, the lack of service and courtesy also left a bad taste.

We arrived around 2:15 pm and there was already a short line by the register. But I did not like finding baking paper that was forgotten to be pulled off on a few bites and having to spit out that paper. Sesame Bun, $2.05- Luckily the black sesame bun did not have any baking paper when I ate this bun a few days after purchasing.
