I love this place for Taiyaki. They recently added a meat and cheese one that's basically a bun/dumpling in taiyaki form. It's brilliant. It's $1 more though. The sweet potato is a staple and it's not too sweet for the perfectly balanced taiyaki. Places like Somi Somi don't have sweet potato, so I always get it here. This location of Deli Manjoo is located in H-Mart. These manjoos are cute little pastries with fillings. They also sell taiyakis here that are bigger. The manjoos were 7 for $7 or 15 for $14. I was sharing with my boyfriend and these pastries are gone in a bite, so we went with 15. You shoud bring cash or they have a $0.50 fee on credit card paymenys under $15. A bit pricey for how tiny the snack is. To my surprised they were individually packaged and this location had multiple flavors compared to the locations I've been to prior. They were individually wrapped and premade, not as fresh as what I have had prior. We got 2 of the walnuts, 2 redbean filling, 2 chocolate looking ones, and the rest in original custard. The others were fun to try but the custard is my favorite. A nice snack if I'm already at this H-Mart picking up groceries but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. This was one of our favorite dessert spots. A toasted tapioca sort of pancake/waffle batter in a fish shape called taiyaki. A popular street food in Japan. With filling choice of: Nutella, custard, sweet potato, red bean, chocolate, cheese, plain, apple, blueberry cream cheese. They have small fish, large fish or medallions. The small fish flavors are a great way to try all the fillings. Medallions have a choice of cheese only or for an added cost add meat. The bigger fish can be filled with any filling and made fresh within a few minutes. Bring cash if you don't want the .50 cent extra charge to use card, otherwise tap away. Area available inside to sit and enjoy them nice and hot! We chose the big taiyaki sweet potato and custard. The freshness of these warm parcels is so satisfying with every bite. The sweet filling sort of oozes and it's like a warm hand pie but with the Asian twist of baked tapioca crust. A slight crunch and ooze.. sign me up. Service was awesome! A convenient stop for delicious taiyaki treats within the super hmart! I always order their 4pc big taiyaki deal with mozzarella and it's delicious as they make it fresh to order. Do note though that the cooks are inconsistent as it depends who's working and it takes some time to cook (~10-15 minutes every time) It also isn't the most convenient if you want to eat it there since there aren't many tables. I came and I conquered in good faith on food LOL. They offer manjoos which is a custard or red bean filled small cake that literally looks like a mini ear of corn. They also have small and large taiyakis with various fillings such as custard, red bean, chocolate, and a few others that I don't remember LOL. I wanted to try all manjoos and taiyakis flavors so I bought a dozen with a mix of them. I tried all of them. I thought I was going to like the taiyaki custard most, but I actually prefer the match chocolate taiyaki the best as it was really tasty and flavorful. The young gentleman who was making the mandoos and taiyakis was very nice and working very hard. Thank you for keeping the production going. Prices were decent. The mini taiyaki were so good! I've never been to a place that sells mini versions of taiyaki, so I was super excited to come here. This shop is located in the food court at H-Mart, making it the perfect place for a quick snack. It seemed like more of a grab-and-go dessert place since there wasn't much seating available inside. Honestly, this is what sets this H-Mart location aside from all the other ones that I have gone to. The inclusion of a taiyaki and other custard filled pastries is what is so hard to find, unless you go to a Korean dessert place, Somi Somi, or out to Little Tokyo or something. Glad that I have the option of getting this here and that it's affordable, though prices have definitely gone up since the first time that I have been here (many, many years ago). There's lots of options here. There's the large fresh taiyaki with your choice of filling and then there are the smaller pastries with different fillings, like the smaller taiyaki, corn, and walnut. Some filling that I have seen before are the standard custard and others such as red bean, chocolate, cream cheese, peanut butter, etc. I believe the walnut ones have real walnut bits inside them as well. I love the chewy mochi texture inside the taiyaki and I also enjoy the soft pound cake fluffiness of the corn (manjooya). They have drinks here too, but I have never tried. The smaller pastries are individually wrapped, so you can get them in a baggie or in a gift box. My only issue here is that for some of the smaller pastries, I've had really variable quality with them. Sometimes super delicious, other times mega spongy and unpleasant to eat (maybe microwaving these would be better). You can never go wrong with their fresh big taiyaki though! read more

I waited at least 10 minutes for the chocolate taiyaki. The custard filling was pretty good. The texture of the small taiyaki was soft and chewy. The chocolate filling wasn't that sweet, almost like rich dark chocolate. The chocolate was piping hot with the pastry having flaky and chewy texture. Located inside H Mart as part of the food court, this taiyaki stand makes some of the better ones I've tried outside of Asian countries. I didn't post any photos of the taiyaki as there are already hundreds on their page. I ordered two: one custard filled and the other blueberry-cream cheese. They make them to order which took about 7 minutes. They had several other flavor options including the traditional red bean, sweet potato, chocolate, or just plain. The fish imprint was well defined on both taiyaki. The "waffle" was thick with a crisp exterior that got more doughy toward the inside. The custard one was very good with just the right amount of filling; not so much that it splurted out everywhere as you ate it but enough to be satisfying with each bite. The blueberry cream cheese was equally wonderful and had plenty of filling too. Service was stoic yet friendly and the price was reasonable. If you like taiyaki this is a good place to get some and if you've never had one this is a great spot for your first experience. read more

They also really pack in the fillings, so every bite is perfect. 4 for $12 feels pretty reasonable for the size they are - just be careful not to bite into it too fast because the inside can be piping hot. Mini taiyaki: They make these mini versions of taiyaki that are also bomb. My favorite is the cream cheese filling, but they're all pretty good. Other flavors include custard, red bean, chocolate, and sweet potato. I love to take them home and put them in the toaster oven until the outside is crispy for a super satisfying snack. Other: the corn shaped and ball shaped mini snacks have a more spongy/cake-like texture if you're into that (the fish are made with tapioca). Overall, a great place for a treat that's not too sweet and v satisfying. $15 minimum charge for credit (or 50 cent extra charge for under $15). Or you can just pay cash. Located inside the HMart food court, Deli Manjoo is serving up piping hot, fresh taiyaki and I'm here for it! I called in for an order of Large Taiyaki ($3 each or 4 for $10) and asked for four custard and four red bean. The taiyaki was made fresh to order and I loved the crispy exterior and chewy, mochi-like interior. The filling was piping hot and so delicious too! I loved both the red bean and custard fillings and would definitely get both again. Although, I will say the custard is a bit on the sweeter side so I'd recommend this only if you have a big sweet tooth. Make sure to eat your taiyaki while it's still piping hot as it tastes best when fresh! Deli Manjoo also offers a smaller bite size portion of their taiyakis, but those are already pre-packaged and don't taste as good in my opinion as it loses its crispy exterior. While I really enjoyed the fresh taiyaki, I will say their customer service could be improved upon. This may be due to a language barrier as English is not their first language, but the gentleman who took my phone order was not friendly, and made it very clear to me he was frustrated when I asked what flavors were available. Also note there will be a wait as the taiyaki is made to order. There was a 40 minute wait my first time here as a walk-in (even though the cashier told me 10 minutes), and there was a 15 minute wait during my second time calling in as a phone order.
