I visited this restaurant which is in a shopping center with other dining options, but this one looked to be the best. They are not related to another similar sounding restaurant Nee Hao, over near the airport. Their layout is L shaped once inside and fairly bright compared to old school Chinese restaurants with darker floors and interiors. I felt the interior is very mixmatched with a tropical theme in one area, a replica british telephone booth in another area, a room decorated in numerous flowers, and restrooms with distressed wood looking porcelain giving off a Texas country vibe. The space does have high ceilings, which is fairly unique for a casual Chinese restaurant. The menu contains 2 parts, their standard menu and a separate single-page combo menu. Each combo which is a few dollars more than the entree and comes with iced tea, a sesame ball, a fried chicken wing, crispy spring roll, a soup and crispy wonton chips. Wow, they really include a lot for just a few dollars more. Most of the entrees are your typical Americanized Chinese dishes but a few are more authentic, like the 3 different fish filled dishes and the black pepper chicken cutlet. Their regular menu has hot pot, some Sichuan cuisine appetizers, beef noodle dishes, Taiwanese dishes, veggies, a fried section, and a fried rice and noodle section. Some of the more interesting dishes include a swan-shaped durian pastry, brown sugar sticky rice cake, and 2 different stir-fried crawfish dishes. I went with the tried and true Mongolian beef combo. This turned out to be one of the best Mongolian beef dishes I've ever had. It gets an 8 as far as presentation and is very colorful. It comes with cilantro and diced green onions, which you dont see very often on this dish. The sauce, which is normally a thick brown, is a lighter chili oil here instead and tastes like a dish you would eat at the more authentic Chinese restaurants in Bellaire area. The beef is very tender and melts in your mouth. I was unfortunately not a fan of the chicken wing or the vegetarian spring roll. Maybe it was the oil they fry them in.....not sure. Service here is pretty good as well. My iced tea was refilled a few times as needed. I will say their TV's were on the fritz during my visit amd should be checked. One had no signal and another above my table was frozen on a children's program. read more

It wasn't perfect. But I gave them an extra star for the effort. First off I like how they have wonton crunchies on the table ready for you to eat when you sit down. They're spiced and delicious. I thought they'd be stale since every table literally had a bowl. But they weren't. I also loved how they brought out a bowl of hot and sour soup while looking at the menu. Really nice touch. They were out of a number of items. I saw they had green takeaway bags like Mi Mi's does but when we asked for a to go box they only brought out ordinary plastic bags. A bit disappointed there. But it's fine. The Dan Dan noodles is C3 (Spicy Noodles with Sesame Sauce Contain Peanuts /S CP). It looked so colorful online that I questioned whether it would taste any good. But it actually was quite tasty. It's served on a plate and not a bowl. The Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken D7 was pretty good as was the Crab Rangoon. $8 for 6 pieces was cheaper than MiMi and actually I like the taste better. The wonton was crunchier and not as thick as MiMi's. We also got the C2 Huainan beef noodle soup. Primarily because it was one of the few soups not labeled as spicy. It wasn't bad. We wanted to take it home and the waitress just gave us one of those takeout purse boxes. Pretty sure it would've soaked right through. So I asked and they actually do have plastic soup containers too. I really love the decor as well. It just looks like a hodgepodge of knick knacks collected including a British telephone booth of all things. My favorite are the many sakura trees. read more

This is my second time enjoying a meal from Ni Hao. Today I stopped in for a lunch special, to go. There are many options. Susan, was very friendly when I walked in the door. She provided some great suggestions to try. I was pleasantly surprised with my to go order of sesame chicken. It came with hot and sour soup, an egg roll, a fried chicken wing, broccoli, fried rice, a generous portion of chicken, and an iced tea. Everything was absolutely delicious. I was surprised that more people were not in for lunch. I have had other Chinese food in The Woodlands, but none as good as this restaurant. What a great find! We just had an enjoyable meal here. Driving up and down Gosling I might not have noticed it except there is a sign on the street and I came across it again on Yelp. The first nice surprise was the fact that they actually season the fried wonton strips, meaning you already have flavor when you go to dip it into the sweet chili sauce. Next we decided to try the shrimp tempura and that was cooked just perfectly, Mr. Picky loved it! I tried the lunch noodle combo plate because I was in the mood for lo mein. I ordered the mixed version and I have to say it was just a perfect balance of noodle, proteins and vegetables, absolutely perfect, not too much of anything. The hot and sour soup was included, I liked its earthy flavor. We like trying new things and so ordered the Brown Sugar Sticky Rice Cake with extra of the burnt sugar sauce, and we both liked the flavor and chew. Qi-Qi was our waitress and she bent over backwards to help us make selections and stay on top of servicing the table and asking what she could do. She was really great. The restaurant itself is a really cute kitch environment with pandas and cherry trees and more. Very fun. We will definitely be back next time we are in the mood for Chinese. I'll have to bring more people with me in order to try the Hot Pot meal :-). When you combine the food and atmosphere and service, I'd rate it a "4.5" and so I'm rounding it up to a "5". read more

What a great place to have lunch at! Other than the food being really delicious and high quality, the service is also outstanding. The waitress was so incredibly kind and generous and truly made our meal experience so comfortable. The restaurant itself is really pretty inside: well lit, decorated with adorable pandas, and clean. And to top it all off, during lunch, the restaurant offers such great deals on food (2 adults got fully stuffed for $30). Definitely worth the drive - I will be back very soon! read more

Back in the country and so the Noodle/dumpling tour continues. Excited to find this place not far from home and after eating there, I am ecstatic! This is noodles and dumplings done right. Tucked into a small non-descript strip mall, the hunt is worthwhile. Service is impeccable with a happy, jolly waitstaff checking in regularly. The decor is bright and eclectic, I mean Easter bunnies and butterflies? It's an intriguing landscape for the food. And the food...the beef noodles were so packed with flavor, I could have ignored the beef. Glad I didn't as it too was flavorful and tender. I visited this place a while back while exploring new spots, and I have to say, the ambiance and décor are absolutely charming! It's rare to find a place that truly makes you feel cared for, but the staff here did just that. Our waitress was one of the kindest and most attentive people I've ever met. From start to finish, the service, attention to detail, and overall hospitality were truly impressive. As for the food, the portions were generous and everything was nicely presented. While the flavors didn't quite match my and my best friend's personal taste preferences, it was still enjoyable, especially the appetizers, which were absolutely delicious! Immediately was greeted by Yvonne and she treated me like her very own family coming to visit. We visited this restaurant tonight. It was our 2nd time here. First off, the service is exceptional. They staff periodically checks on you to ensure all is good. Secondly, the food is fresh, well-prepared, and the portions are very reasonable. They also have a great menu with many items to choose from. One of the highlights of this place are the fried seasoned wontons they have on the table. My daughter couldn't get enough of them. Lastly, I do like that this place is BYOB. Mine tested little better than the others until you get an after taste of some kind of cleaning chemical. We spent $ 70.00 and left hungry and disappointed. The new chinese resto Ni Hao right next to Bazaar Istanbul on Gosling next to the Woodlands Sports Complex is finally open. It's a little different from the usual chinese take out experience. I enjoyed the mongolian beef and crispy beef rolls the best. They have handpulled noodles that they make in house which were pretty good. Their service was great too. Yvonne our server was so sweet. We also enjoyed the wonton chips they serve while waiting for your food. We stopped over at the bazaar istanbul next door and grabbed some ice cream for dessert! It was close to our house and so we decided to try it out. We were sat down immediately when we came in. The hostess was cheerful. The atmosphere is good, clean and very garden like. There was no unwanted smells and smoke, I would say the place as pleasant. We ordered the Mongolian beef with white rice, the chicken potstickers, the potato tornado, chicken fried rice and Hunan beef noodle soup. The tables are prepped with a unique (and tasty) bowl of wonton crisps and sauce when you come in. Had the Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao Chicken, both which came with Hot and Sour soup, spring roll, and sesame ball. The portion sizes were generous, the prices were reasonable, and the service was perfect (absolutely loved the little Chinese little who served us - so kind and helpful, and a bit witty too, which I loved). I wanted to review Ni Hao on Yelp as well. My wife and I are always looking for a good, authentic, Chinese restaurant. We came across Ni Hao On Gosling Road on WeChat. Tonight we tried the restaurant for dinner and it was excellent! We ordered the Hot Pot set meal with chicken and we added beef and lamb. We also ordered Spring Rolls and Dumplings and the Crispy Beef Rolls. There weee 4 people... and this was way too much. Portions are surprisingly very good. Not small. So just understand, you order spring rolls, expecting 3... and you get 6. The meat/ protein was exceptionally good quality and quantity. Just a very authentic Chinese experience. But again, we ordered too much food . The restaurant was spotlessly clean. Service was wonderful. These folks are working very hard... and they're doing a great job. This Chinese restaurant recently opened in Spring near us (don't confuse it with NiHao Chinese on Memorial Drive in Houston--they are not related). We had a family dinner the other night. This is an interesting and somewhat difficult place to review. The flavors and textures are not like any other Chinese place I have visited. There are many unique menu items. We didn't totally love everything but were very intrigued. The menu has a lot of charming translation typos and non sequiturs. We started off with a cucumber salad and a Tornado Potato, and I got a Hand Punch Lemon Green Tea (I think that should be hand squeezed). Wacky Mongolian in this area serves a cucumber salad that is sweet--Ni Hao's is the savory version, spiced with curry. It was tasty and an interesting change. The Tornado Potato is a spiral-cut potato on a stick--we've had something like it at Bigotes Sports Bar and a few other places. The Ni Hao version is cut thicker and breaded. This makes it nice and crispy but very difficult to get off the stick and share. It was not seasoned, but comes with ketchup and you can also use soy sauce on it. The server said the tea had a lot of flavor, and she was absolutely right. There's lemonade, tea, ginger, limes and boba in there. I wish I'd been told about the boba, I don't particularly like it. But the tea was very good and I can recommend it. For entrees we got beef curry fried noodles, rainbow vegetarian noodles, pan fried rice cakes with shrimp, and vegetable fried rice with egg. The beef curry fried noodles had a soft-fried texture. The curry flavor was present but very mild. Not a lot of beef but what there was was good. The rainbow vegetarian noodles had a great presentation. The toppings--red peppers, finely chopped mushrooms, green vegetables, bamboo shoots, and one other item that I forget--are arranged in stripes across a bed of noodles with peanuts. You then mix them with tongs. The bowl was a bit shallow for the mixing and was piled past the top, but we managed. The dish is very peanut-forward, a unique flavor. The pan fried rice cakes with shrimp conjure an image of a crisp rice cake with shrimp of some kind, but the dish is quite different. The rice cake is made from rice flour and is dense. It is sauteed together with the shrimp in a nice savory seafood sauce. The cakes are about 1/4 inch thick and somewhat chewy. The sauteed shrimp were done nicely. The dish is very filling, I didn't come close to finishing it. The vegetable fried rice with egg was the closest thing to a classic dish that we got. The base dish is somewhat plain, but with soy sauce it was quite good and satisfying. The restaurant is very pretty inside, an interesting mix of Asian and other cultural decor. They have a bright red phone booth reminiscent of London. The restaurant is bright, with white walls--no trouble seeing your food. They seem to be experimenting with self-placed orders in the restaurant--there's a kiosk that says "order here" at the entrance, and a QR code at the tables. We didn't try these out. Service was pleasant, I think the server was perhaps a co-owner. The restrooms (gendered but identical) were clean and ready. I think it's a place that will take more than one visit to form a final opinion. For now I'm rounding up to 4 stars. read more
