Next Door has throwing a pizza party down to an art! I got invited to their pizza party event and it was awesome! We got to try a bunch of their pies as well as some of their sides and treats! The event space in the back is perfect for any type of event and the pricing per person is so reasonable. The pizza is cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and attentive. Not only do they have their event space in the back they also have a good sized dining room in the front. Parking is a bit limited in the main lot but there is plenty of on street parking and no meters. This was such a fun snd tasty event and I can't wait to go back! read more

We attended a pizza making class today at Next Door and it was an awesome experience for the 14 of us that attended. It was a hands on class and many good pointers were brought up. Doug was a very gracious host and teacher and allowed us to make whatever we pleased. We were taught about making dough, handling it, stretching it properly then saucing, cheesing and topping the pizza. Mike was also very patient showing us his masterful peel and oven skills. Came here for happy hour one night. The deals weren't too impressive. The place is huge! I think a portion of it was closed so we were walked to the back by the bar, it looks like there is two dining rooms and two bars sort of. My cocktail was pretty good and the beer selection was good. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza, tasty. I believe we also ordered the naked fries from the happy hour menu, only fries are the food options for happy hour and they were limited and more expensive if the fries had something on them. Service was good.We thought all the pizzas were pretty expensive and our happy hour outing for drinks and pizza didn't save us any money when other places have pretty good deals. Love live Next Door! I am so excited to be able to dine in again, but also for the return of my favorite pizza, esacarole and bean (add vegan cheese and hold the bacon, please). It is sublime, perfect Garlic energy that I love so much. If this option were on the menu permanently I would get it as my standard order. Customer service here is still excellent and s/o to Maria for helping me get my order right on what I am sure was a slammed Halloween weekend. We ordered two pizzas from here and the pizza was completely BLACK on that bottom. We had family in from out of town and were touting how good the pizza was here and it was inedible. I have had better pizza from this place before and it was in-house, but apparently their quality control for takeout is non-existent. You can't charge $50 for two pizzas and send them out inedible. When my friend and I arrived on a Wednesday evening, the front bar and the main room were both about half packed. (There's also a big room in the back.) The waitress was pretty casual, said we can sit wherever. I thought Next Door was focused on pizza, but the menu was surprisingly diverse and "elevated." It took us a long time to decide what to get. Our waiter mentioned that the dishes are all meant to be shared. While we liked our food, each dish seemed like something that could have come for its own restaurant. The spicy sausage pizza was nice. I appreciated the ample amount of meat, though I wish the onions had been charred or a little softer. I wish the crust had had a little bit more flavor. I'd suggest skipping the duck nuggets; they were too dry. The winner at the table was the roasted carrots. (Who would have thought!) Now, this dish was special! The presentation alone was complex, possibly a little over the top, but it made for an awesome combination of textures and flavors with each bite. If you're feeling a little adventurous, go for it. It could have been served at a much more upscale restaurant. Decent beer list of lots of everyday goodies and popular local beers. They had a solid cocktail menu, too. read more

Came on a Saturday night and surprisingly it wasn't too busy. Ordered a small half eggplant half pepperoni, I thought the flavor of the pizza was pretty good. I purposely asked for it to be a little less cooked since I'm not huge on charred pizza and they successfully made it exactly like I wanted. I would say the small is a good size for 2 people! I also enjoyed the Caesar salad. Tried the wings which were cooked on the inside but the outside was way too soft. I tend to like the crunch on the outside so it could use a little more time, but the flavor of the wings were great, so if they could just fix that part they would've been amazing wings read more

Came here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was! Firstly, our server was so awesome. She was really helpful with any questions we had and was very attentive. She gave us SOO much ranch on the side which I loved haha. My friends and I ordered tons of food and the best thing was definitely their pizza. They have all the classic New Haven style pizzas so come here if you need your pizza fix. We also got apple crisp with vanilla ice cream for dessert! It smelled so amazing coming out of the kitchen and tasted just as good too! My friend who ordered the mudslide drink said it was a disappointing. This place is great. I went to a pizza making class for a friend's birthday and it was fun. We got to make multiple pizzas starting with rolling out and shaping the dough, adding all our toppings and putting them into the giant brick oven. We ate in on a Friday night and it was great. Nice ambiance and decor - there were also no other people in the dining room (where is everyone?!? seriously missing out..) so it was ultra covid friendly! We got a massive Caesar salad for $9 to share, and one of the best New Haven pizzas we've had: spicy honey, bacon, Brussels sprouts and ricotta. It was impressively spicy (for a pizza) and also sweet and also salty. What more could you want in a pizza?! read more

I am a self proclaimed New Haven pizza snob. I've yelled at ignorant New Yorkers, shaken my head in disgust at people from the west coast, and tried to fight people from Chicago. I also have my own preferences and allegiances between the big 3 (or 4), which I will keep to myself for purposes of this review. I will start with this: the pizza was just as good as any place you have to wait in line for 2 hours for. But here's the real thing: it was clean! The service was good! There was adequate and contemporary seating and lighting! There was a modern and full drink menu! It was the New Haven pizza that I love and miss living in Seattle, without all the BS that I've decided is necessary for good pizza. Turns out, it isn't. If you're a purist, give this place a try and enjoy a nice meal without all the stress and shenanigans of the other spots. And with a lot nicer amenities and service. This was the best meal I've ever eaten in New Haven. Better than Heirloom, Caseus, Elm City-- all of them. Here's why: they have anything you might want from an upscale restaurant, and they also have perfect New Haven style pizza, easily on the level of the big 3 New Haven joints. We started with a seasonal special-- the heirloom tomato salad. It was the single best dish I've ever been served in a restaurant. Beautiful spread of heirlooms of various colors and flavors, local plum tomatoes, micro basil all over top of a creamy and sweet whipped ricotta and basil syrup. Everything totally balanced, every bite proportioned and flavorful. The second small plate we got was the skirt steak. It was perfectly cooked and tender, with a delicious cumin-y purée and smashed purple potatoes. Very simple, well executed. It was topped with micro greens for some freshness and color. It could probably use some kind of acid, but overall a delicious plate to share. Our one mistake was getting the Reuben fries, and it was no fault of Next Door's. The fries were well cooked, all of the flavors were right, but it was too rich next to the rest of the food we ate. If you get a plate of their fries, I'd recommend to sticking to either small plates or just a pizza with it, not both. Speaking of which: the pizza. We ordered a large pizza, half pepperoni and half fresh tomato. A lot of places won't do half pies, so we really appreciated that they do here. I'm not a big fan of pepperoni, but my wife loved her half. The fresh tomato was great (can you tell I love summer tomatoes?). The crust left that signature New Haven char on your fingers, and it was more chewy than cracker-- really well executed crust. We will absolutely be here again. My biggest hope is that these guys continue to plate seriously seasonal produce. That tomato salad was hands down the best part of the meal, and I want everyone to be able to taste that beautifully fresh produce expertly thought of by your chef and perfectly executed by your line. Great service, waitresses and bartenders are very kind have never had a bad expiernence in that department. They have a wide variety of foods all of it being gantasitc. I reccomend thiwr chicken alfredo, any pizza, and their burgers are a bargain as well. On top of this I've never waited over 20 minutes for food even when it's busy. I had a 5th Re-birthday (cancer anniversary) celebration at Next Door. Everything about the experience was top notch. The staff were friendly and super helpful and the food was delicious. The pizzas were delicious and plentiful and the bartender was sweet. Guests commented on what a great space the back room was and how easy it was to get to.
