I don't leave many negative reviews, but I have to say I was not impressed with my experience at Newk's. My first visit went smoothly--decent salad, though a bit on the pricey side. However, my second visit today left a lot to be desired. I used the self-order kiosk to place a to-go order: two turkey and avocado sandwiches (which were supposed to come with Swiss cheese), two bags of chips, one soda, and a French dip with a fruit cup that I paid extra for. While the food was prepared quickly and the packaging was all sealed up and gave the impression that everything was correct, that unfortunately wasn't the case. Both turkey sandwiches were missing Swiss cheese, and the fruit cup that I paid extra for was nowhere to be found. At a total of $42.25, that's frustrating and disappointing. The sandwiches were okay, but given the cost with the mistakes, I doubt I'll be returning. read more

We got the 1/2 shrimp po boy, and it had 4 shrimp on it. And it was $11.00. Absolutely pathetic. I got 1/2 sandwich and salad. My salad had almost NO dressing, and the little bit of meat on my sandwich was rolled up in 2 bites. I used to live Newk's. Unfortunately, I will not be back. The bones are still there. We have been coming here for years and it has become a go to restaurant! The menu is delicious, from salads to pizza to sandwiches. The Newk's 'Q' Sandwich is a standout! I love getting a pint of chicken salad from the to go counter to take home afterwards. Sometimes the service can be slow, but for the most part, we've had good experiences. read more

In a hurry? Skip the line! Man this is the most frustrated I've been in a while. We came here during Sunday lunch and ordered from their tablet. It is cold so we looked all over for a clean table or an employee who may bus one of 15 empty tables... no such luck, the employees who watched us searching broke eye contact the second we spotted them so we bundled back up and sat at the MOST VISIBLE PATIO TABLE in front of a WALL OF WINDOWS. We were the only ones outside. We had ordered a soup and salad. We sat waiting for thirty minutes and when I walked inside I saw the couples in line BEHIND US walking out after enjoying their meal. I go to a girl and ask if we could check on our order, she says "it's been ready we couldn't find you" OH wonderful, I didn't realize it was standard procedure to give up on serving a PREPAID MEAL to your patrons. When she brought it out the soup was glazed over and I watched her take it from a ledge that was non warming so it had been sitting for thirty minutes. When I asked for new soup they rolled their eyes. Horrendous service and NO ONE checked on us of offered a discount or comp for our terrible experience, leading me to believe this is standard operating procedure around here. This was my first time trying Newk's, and I was not disappointed. The woman who took my order was VERY friendly and genuine! I ordered the half and half combo, with a Club Sandwich and side Caesar Salad. The club sandwich was warm and toasted, and it also had great sauces to compliment the flavors. The caesar salad was very good. It is a classic style Caesar with a good dressing, and the lettuce was very fresh, high quality and dark green. Their homemade croutons are also very unique and delicious. I almost didn't order a drink because of the price, but I was glad that I did because their sweet tea is amazing! If you are a fan of sweet tea, this is an exceptional one to try! I will definitely be back again, to try more from the menu! read more

I love this place's salads. My favorite is the ultimate salad with Caesar dressing. But the place is always clean and the employees are attentive and courteous. It can get a little load if crowded it nothing out of the usual. I'm not usually a chain restaurant fan but I have to give it to Newk's. They do an excellent job and making the experience feel like it isn't a chain. read more

In the same development where Sprouts is located. A bit different feel than the other Newk's in town, this location boasts high ceilings and a spacious floor plan. Even though it was crowded and dinner hour, I did not feel crowded and it was easy to find an open table. Cheesy and well-mannered order takers. Good food and reasonable prices. The Deluxe Pizza exceeded expectations and was loaded with tasty ingredients like artichoke hearts, hand-cube ham cubes (try saying that fast 3 times!), peppers, mushrooms and more. The Spicy Shrimp Pizza was covered with larger shrimp than I expected. The Corn and Crab Chowder was a bowl of comfort food that went well with the cold winter evening. It had been a long while since I'd dined at a Newk's, and I vaguely recall feeling underwhelmed. Recently, I received a $2.00 off coupon, so I decided to give them another shot. As much as I really wanted to try their pizza, I kinda live on pizza. So I opted for their version of a pick two: half of a Pesto Chicken sandwich and a cup of tomato bisque soup. The sandwich was a little dry on the first few bites. Although, I grew to like it more as I ate more of it. Aside from the dryness, the flavors are nice, and the whole grain bread is surprisingly flavorful. The bell peppers were not only beautiful as they appeared to be very fresh, they were also tasty. The tomato bisque soup was piping hot and actually really good. No complaints there. So why the low stars, you ask? The portion size for the price. The soup amount was pretty decent, it was the sandwich I stared at thinking, "That's it?!?It's tiny!" To put it in perspective, think of a major sub chain that sells 6-inch sub sandwiches. Now, picture a 6-inch sub sandwich, then cut it in half. That is how big my sandwich was. After my $2.00 off coupon was applied, I paid exactly $8.00 for a 3-inch sandwich and a cup of soup. Imagine if I had paid the full $10.00?!? That's, like, airport pricing...yet in Murfreesboro! While I do think their food is decent, I can think of many other places where I can acquire equally good food for a far better value. read more

This Newks is clean and well run. The food at all of them always seems to be pretty consistant. Pizza is pretty healthy if there is such a thing. All of it is much better than fast food. Nice patio area if you feel like eating outside. Comforting to eat at a place where, no matter what you get, you can be sure it is all fresh food. Sometimes you just want a nice bowl of soup. One bowl is enough to fill up most people. Keep on mind that they have cups (a nice side dish of soup) and bowls (as big as your face). A good solid 4. Nice place. read more

We had seven in our party and five enjoyed what they ordered...ham and Swiss, kids pizza, traditional salad. But two of us ordered the Black and Blue salad. It was AWFUL. The steak was stone cold and chewy and there was so much dressing on the salad it was an absolute soggy mess. Neither of us ate more than 3-4 bites. I have enjoyed Newk's salad in the past, but this was by far the worst salad I have ever had, anywhere. We were enjoying a rare lunch with dear friends and didn't want to take time out to return food, so that is on us for not requesting an replacement menu item. Just beware and maybe ask for the dressing on the side. The strawberry cake was enjoyed by everyone! read more

I hate to say this... we ate done with Newk's. The salads are bland...90 + leaf... example the Cobb Salad, a tiny piece , credit for the slices of chicken, but after that, not much flavor. The other salad was shrimp Avacodo. We asked for extra virgin olive oil... That either was poor oil or a blend ( sun flower , or corn oil ) terrible the shrimp was at best bland. The food was very, very good. The experience was weird. The roast beef sandwich was great. There was plenty of rare roast beef on a great roll, cheese and veggies. It was truly yummy. The side dish of Tiffany County Caviar was wonderful. Loved all the food, but everything else was just strange. I walked in the door, saw a counter with registers and a menu on the wall. I waited about 5 minutes as workers walked past me, never even acknowledging me. Someone finally arrived and was surprised I wanted to order something to eat at a table. After I ordered a roast beef on croissant, I was told that was for take-out only. Huh? OK. I had to repeat my order several times for him to get it right. The beverage I wanted was not available either. He then walked me all the way across the restaurant to another counter. Someone their tried to take my order, but the original employee said that it was already started. So we walked back to the first counter. He gave me an order number tag to put on a stand at the table of my choice. Selecting a clean table for two (I was alone), I saw that the employees forgot to take the order tag of the previous diner. So I removed it, placed it on the table and inserted mine. There was a table of eight next to me and one of them spoke up, "Hey, he just took our order number!" A few of the diners appeared annoyed and I thought to myself, "Well, why did you put it on a vacant table?" While I was waiting for my food, I wandered back to the second counter. There I found a completely different menu with more options. I was puzzled. When I returned to the first counter, it finally hit me. I approached a take-out counter. Why no one explained this to me, I'll never know. Half way through my meal two teenagers sat at a table in front of me and opened a bag of Arby's take-out. I did not know outside food was allowed. They sat there for a few minutes, then Mom and Dad finally arrived. Evidently Junior did not like Newk's and refused to go unless mumsie and pappy bought him his Arby's. I was sitting there, relaxing, enjoying the view out the window, sipping the last of my beverage. All of a sudden, an employee rushes up. "Sir, sir, are you OK?" Last time we were at Newk's I remember the sandwich sizes being larger. I ordered the half sandwich and lobster bisque. Food tasted great but the bite size "Q" sandwich was not worth the price. If I could give a zero I would!! I usually love this restaurant and go frequently but today they lost a loyal customer for lack of quality control and management carefulness. I ordered my usual Italian sandwich. Bread wasn't toasted and meat was cold. It's supposed to be a hot sandwich. So I took it back and told manager the problem. He said no problem that he'd fix it. The second one came to me by the manager, still cold! Nothing changed. So off he went again. Third time he brought it back to me and said he personally put meat in to heat it up. WRONG!!! Bread was toasted this time but the meat was barely room temperature!!! 3rd strike and I'm out!!! Never going in. Don't deal with Liars!! If you want a great quality fresh salad this place will fit the bill. I have not tried the sandwich's or pizza because I do not eat bread but their salads are top notch. The service is always great as well. I highly recommend! The reason why I did not give it 5 starts is due to the bathroom. It usually could use some attention but it is never really bad. read more
