I needed the order in two separate bags which I forgot to say, and it took them less than two minutes to make that happen. You can't ask for better service. Stopped off at my FAVORITE sandwich spot...Sub Station II in Smyrna. I moved to Smyrna in 1992 and they have always been consistent, friendly, and the sandwiches are made the way you want them. I'm partial to the Super Special #19 and I get extra meat on mine. You won't find a better Grinder anywhere around here!!! Donnie Ruffalo started something great back in 1975 and his family continues the tradition. Do Not Hesitate to come here! If you have ever been to Arlington Texas then you know what a Dino's is. I have judged every sub sandwich in the United States by this sandwich and no one has ever even been able to come close... until today. I had not planned on stopping when I drove by and saw a run down sandwich shop but I figured it was worth the try. I mean it had been there this long, they gotta be good? So I turned around and drove back to give them a try. I'm so happy I did. When I stepped inside I wasn't sure what to expect but there was a line of people waiting on their subs to be made. I also wasn't sure of the order the line went in but stepped to what I thought was the end and looked at the menu board. When it looked like I had made up my mind a nice lady at the register asked for my order in a sweet southern accent, "What can I get ya honey?" It was like being back home already. With the order placed I stepped my way down to tell them all the goodies to put on my sub sandwich. I had opted to get a ham & cheese with the "works" and this is the ONLY REASON I didn't give them a solid 5 was because of meat selection. The place back home has an entire deli box full of different selections to choose from and here you might have 4-5 but they have all the basics. The bread, oh the bread! It's the vessel that Carries the rest of the sandwich. You can have the best ingredients in the middle but if the bread isn't good then the sub just ends up being ok. Let me assure you when I tell you that this bread was soft, pillowy fresh wheat bread. It had just the right amount of sweetness and just the right amount of chew. It was strong enough to hold up to what was inside and never got soggy. Im always a 1/2 sandwich kinda gal and I never eat all of it but today, I did. I enjoyed every single solitary bite of that sandwich and chips. When I finished eating my sub sandwich I let out a big sigh of pleasure and contentment and I called my husband to tell him about my new find and how it was just as good as back home and it was right here not far from where we're staying. I see several trips here in our future. I bragged to him about how this sub compared. It was every bit as good as our comfort place back home and I was the one who found it! So now when we try other places around the U.S we will now have a #1 spot and a Very, Very, Very Close 2nd place to beat. I would recommend though if you're ever in Arlington Tx look up a place named "Dino's" it will give you a taste of Tennessee while you're away and put a smile on your face just like this little place did for me. read more

Ok I used to love this place back in high school, but that was 20 years ago. So when I revisited it as an adult I was looking at it with a more mature perspective and tasting it with a more refined palette. After dealing with staff that seemed less than confident in the menu and not well versed in the finer points of customer service, I walked around the restaurant and realizing that it really hadn't been updated or changed in twenty years. I visited the restroom to wash my hands and and was pretty disgusted. The washroom was in dire need of some attention and TLC. I went back to my table noting that with some steps I felt like I was about to fall through the floor or this little place. I sanitized my hands as I waited for my food to arrive and I couldn't help but think about the bad review I was going to have to leave this place not because I wanted to but because my experience thus far had warranted it- it was begging for a bad review. But right there at that moment is when everything changed. Remember my customer service challenged employee from the beginning of this review? That's when he appeared and delivered one of the best sandwiches I've eaten in a long long time. The bread was so fresh warm and fluffy that it could have been sent down from heaven. The meat, which in this case was steak, was so juicy and plentiful that it was literally spilling out of the sandwich and dripping down my chin. All of the fixin's that I added were so fresh, crisp and flavorful that if you would've told me that they were cut and chopped specifically for my sandwich I would believe you. And with one bite I decided that the outdated decor, the bad customer service, the lackluster appearance of the restrooms, none of that mattered. This place has endured and withstood the test of time for one reason; the best damn sandwich you can get around this town. read more

I wasn't even 5 minutes away when I began to feel really really off. You know that feeling when you know you're about to get sick? Oh yeah. Came on like a freight train. I barely made it into the bathroom at another business before I started throwing up like someone cut a firehose in the middle. Unlike other times I've been ill, I couldn't STOP throwing up. I threw up until I was dry heaving and felt like I was ready to pass out. So I don't know what's in their food...what was wrong with it...but it made me seriously ill. I would drive the extra few minutes to go to Sub Station over Publix over Subway. Overall, I thought this place was great. I found their meats and veggies to be much fresher and tastier than offerings at Subway. Where the heck did they find such flavorful tomatoes in February??? Sub Station II is my favorite place to get a sub. The people here are all friendly. The ingredients are always fresh. I wouldn't even compare this to Subway.. :) As others said, the selection may be somewhat basic, but the quality is just great. I wouldn't consider the #19 too basic though, and that's pretty much what I get every time. I have just not had a better sandwich or sub anywhere. The steak subs always smell so good.
