Tonight I tried a bowl of brisket chili. Oh my! The brisket was everything that I hoped that it would be and the spice was spot on. A nice tingle on your lips but not overpowering. I usually prefer Texas style with no beans but these beans were Goldilocks perfect. Not too hard and not too soft. A cup of this chili with a grilled cheese would the best of both worlds. Jim 'n Nick's is a great spot! A very inviting, homey feel. The kind of place you want to eat good barbecue! I'm a bit of a pulled pork snob after living in North Carolina for several years, but it was pretty good. The sausage was very good, and I enjoyed the potato salad. Would definitely go back! It's Jim 'n Nicks, so it isn't exactly the best BBQ that the area has to offer, but it's usually fine. This is really just a referendum on the drive-thru service. It took 30 minutes from the time we ordered at the drive-thru to the time we got to the window. Definitely (mostly) out of the restaurant's control, but there wasn't even a "sorry it took so long" or much an acknowledgement that we were there. Seriously, there's better BBQ around and if you must go here, don't go to the drive-thru! read more

We got lunch delivered from here and it was so good! I got a 3 piece ribs and they were HUGE. See the pic, was not expecting ribs this big. They were juicy, smokey and fell off the bone. It came with Cole slaw and collard greens. Both sides were plentiful and flavorful. The collard greens were cooked soft and had bits of meat in it. The corn bread is close to being the best part of the meal, they were tender, crumbly, cheeses and lightly sweet. I wish I could order them to take home with me. read more

This was our second time here and ordered something different. The turkey sandwich was very good, just wish it had more of the honey mustard sauce! Fries were slightly underdone but were seasoned well. The onion rings were delicious. They had a wonderful smokiness to them and a light batter. Usually I find onion rings to be heavy and oily, but these were not! Will definitely be getting these again. Oh my! They catered a lunch for my team and it was DELICIOUS! I will definitely be stopping in the restaurant for a meal on my next visit to the Nashville area. Sides included Mac n Cheese, baked beans, salad (with real bacon), and dessert was banana pudding. Meats we're pulled pork and chicken. I didn't get to try the cheese biscuits but they looked good. Co-workers munched on them as a 3pm pickmeup before dinner. Chicken had hardly any smoke at all and wasn't dry. Some places, their chicken is like shredded wheat. Fantastic food with great flavor and excellent portion sizes. The brisket was my favorite and the onion rings were crisp, and fresh. Darren was our server and he was great! Just the right amount of attentiveness and such a positive attitude. We dined inside during this visit but they do also have a small patio area which is great for those perfect weather evenings. This bbq is so yummy! We always order takeout, so I can't attest to the service, but I have no complaints with this place. The Cheese biscuits are soft and delicious, the Turkey is fantastic, the brisket is flavorful, and the Mac n cheese is a fan-favorite in my house. I personally recommend the loaded potato. My first time having Jim 'N Nicks and I wasn't that impressed. The brisket was a bit dry and the sides (mac n cheese and greens) lacked the depth I'm used to experiencing in good Tennessee BBQ. Called here before coming to make sure patio is open, got here about three hours after I called to be told the patio isn't open. Ended up getting takeout and was offered to eat in the patio area, just couldn't have servers going there. That was fine, but I don't like getting takeout since it generates a lot of trash and waste. In any case, I got the loaded mac and cheese with brisket, which came with two cheesy corn breads and sauce. The brisket wasn't very flavorful, and the mac and cheese wasn't anything amazing. We to Jim and Nicks once is awhile when we have a hankering for bbq. We normally go to the one in Franklin. Sometimes they're not that consistent but we ride it out because it's our go to for brisket. We decided to try the Smyrna location. Big mistake! My SO and I both got brisket with a side of fries and mac and cheese along with their peach cocktail. They didn't have makers mark to make it so we ordered another drink. The brisket gave us both a stomach ache. The mac and cheese tasted like it old and was very salty. The fries were soggy and cold. The lamp on the table were full of cobwebs. We should have trusted our instincts to have Thai when they told us it was a 45 minute wait. read more

This use to be a great place because their sides were always fresh but this is the third time that we have eaten here and the food was subpar. So, my friends live in Smyrna and my long time friend's girlfriend lives nearby and he recommended this place because everything is made from scratch. My first evening in the Nashville area brought me here, especially since my Smyrna friends also brought this place up as a dinner option so it seemed promising. Because of her I got the mashed potatoes with white gravy and I am glad I listened to her. The mac and cheese though was okay. However, the brisket was delicious, not the best I had but not the best that I've had. The sauce though was a really good and the pickles, I am NOT a fan of pickles were a great addition, it really made the flavor sauce stand out. The cheese biscuits were excellent and I think the four of us went through about three baskets of them. I was the only one who ordered a beverage, an Arnold Palmer and the fresh lemonade really stood out. You really can tell the difference between lemonade from scratch and Minute Maid. The latter is overpoweringly sweet and the former is a nice balance of sweet and tart. My friend ordered the pig in the potato patch. The stuffed baked potato and she really enjoyed it. How do I know this? The only thing left on it was the skin. I really have to mention the service again, we came an hour before closing time but we didn't even know it because they were so nice and attentive. We left thirty minutes after they closed but I didn't even know. A family came in after us and they were still very nice and attentive to them as well.
