Put this place on the map. It's tasty. Nestled in a strip mall type layout besides a church & a tractor supply. Do not let that be a concern. This luncheonette styled place will charm you. The cauliflower, greens, and salad are so good. I mean it. Were so good, I immediately texted my Nashville kin folk. Yelp reviews are on point. Food looks better in person and tastes really great. Of note, spoons are on request. Now I'm ruined! Nothing touches this spot in Houston. I'll have to return to Nashville soon. Wishing Southern Spoon only the best! read more

Visiting from Minnesota. We had lunch here. Casual atmosphere, order at counter and food is delivered to table. Nice menu. Had a club sandwich with the jalapeño cheddar muffins. Great sandwich and I thought the muffins were very good. My wife had the shrimp and grits which were very good. A couple of people at our table had the burgers which looked very good. Great French fries. Ordered the banana pudding beignets for dessert. Wonderful!! Casual dining but great food. Wonderful staff and owner as well. We would frequent this place if we lived near here. read more

Excited to have a meat and 3 place. They serve brunch-breakfast all day. Counter orders and drinks self service. Friendly family oriented place. My daughter loves Mac n cheese so double Mac cheese it was. Food is great. Probably just a little bit more seasoning needed. But overall excellent place to come. read more

The prices are totally ridiculous!!! $20 for a freaking salad...lol We were staying at a nearby hotel. Southern spoon was next door. I looked at their menu and was horrified.., Their prices were so high that I will never go again. read more

Very friendly people who explained the menu options since it was our first time in. You place your order at the counter, find yourself a place to sit and they bring you your food. Interior was simple but clean and even though it was pretty busy, we didn't have a problem finding a seat. I got a bacon wrapped pork rib with collard greens and fries - the fries were battered or something which made them nice and crispy on outside and soft inside. Perfect. Collard greens came with some sort of spicy sweet sauce that I really want to buy by the bottle. Super delicious. Pork rib was very tender and not too fatty. Hubby got the basic breakfast plate - eggs, biscuit, cheese grits and smoked bologna. He said everything was yummy. Was a shame we missed out on the days sausage gravy. They gave us a coffee refill to go which was very cool. The only thing I would personally wish for would be a fountain drink instead of the canned sodas. No other notes though - we will be back for sure. read more

Southern Spoon has been one of our favorite food trucks for years now and we were always pumped when we found them at an event or a local brewery. We were so excited that they finally got a regular restaurant and we visited in mid Dec. The food and service is just as good as it's always been and that's a great thing. My wife and I both got the shrimp and grits and it was very flavorful and super creamy (and I usually don't care for grits). We've also had their chicken and waffles in the past (my go to as they make sweet potato waffles that are divine), banana pudding, and a beef wellington sandwich, which was amazing. They have all those items on the menu here (except for the welly sandwich) and they may be bringing that one back in the future for a special. We're definitely coming back here any time we want some amazing food! read more

Having dined at the southern spoon food truck in the past I was excited to try their brick & mortar location for lunch while in the Smyrna area. Nothing beats the "I just paid a massive tax bill" blues like a good lunch, I arrived at 11:20 just ahead of a lunch rush consisting of a group of more than 15 women who seemed to be locals an familiar with the place. I placed my order at the counter took my number & found a table. Within about 10 mins an employee brought my food to my table. I went with the classic club (comes with fries) & a side of Mac & cheese. These were two featured items in other reviews & I wanted to check them out. The club was loaded up with ingredients & very good. I only finished half & took the rest to go. Excellent bread on this. The mac & cheese was good & you can tell they make the cheese sauce from scratch. Just needed a dash of black pepper & it was perfect. The fries were honestly my favorite parts they had Parmesan on them & were perfectly breaded & tasty. No ketchup required. I could have easily eaten a whole plate of those & nothing else. If I'm back in the area I'll come try something else as there were several items on then menu that peaked my interest. Great spot for lunch though! read more

Once again the Yelp community did me a solid! We found this cute hole in the wall breakfast/ brunch place and it was good! The restaurant is open, clean, and bright. And- it was quiet enough we could converse and not feel drawn into conversations around us. You can tell this is a place made for hanging out and connecting as many around us appeared to be doing. They even had a sitting area and games and lots of seating options. The service was good too - they are friendly and kind. It took us a bit to decide as the menu had a lot of options. We had the butternut squash soup, broccoli, a biscuit, and the breakfast plate with cheese grits (husband said they were delicious), brisket, eggs, and a bagel. Overall very good and we enjoyed our brief visit! read more

If you haven't been here you are SLEEPING on this place! The food is SO delicious!! The chicken and waffles has soooo much flavor to it, you have to try it! The CYO breakfast sandwich was also good but the chicken and waffles were as the star of the show. As soon as you enter the restaurant they let you know right away what to expect if it's your first time, prompt and friendly service :) There's tons of plants everywhere that gives off a vibe of being right at home for me (we have plants). read more

Found this little gem on Yelp and stopped in for breakfast. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. Cute decor and clean inside. According to my husband and my son, the bathroom was the cleanest they have ever experienced. Food was fresh and delicious. My husband had the chicken and waffles. My son and I both created our own plate and it was all very good. read more

Just tried Southern Spoon on a recommendation from a friend as I preferred locally owned business for out of town company. I was a little hesitant when I learned they had only been open about a month but, boy, I shouldn't have been. The place runs like a well-oiled machine, the food was delicious and the owners were so friendly. I wasn't aware they had a food truck and catering business as well. That explains the efficiency and tasty food. They are pros. We ordered 2 design-your-own breakfast bowls and the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and the sauce was so tasty. I'll try an entire order for myself the next time. If I could rate higher than 5, I would! read more

Very clean and well maintained restaurant. I appreciated the spacious capacity to dine in. Its definitely southern comfort food, and it was so fresh and made to order. I had the iced sweet tea, breakfast sandwich (sourdough bread, egg over-medium, crispy bacon). I then ordered the Nashville Chicken and waffles. Very tasty and satisfying. Staff was incredibly accommodating and nice. Location is great! Easy to find parking in the lot. Food is good value for the $$$. I was glad they served breakfast all day. If an order was incorrect, they were very quick to satisfy the customer. Manager and staff handled call in orders very well (while meeting needs of in-person customers). read more

Our last meal in Tennessee before heading to the airport at the end of our vacation. We ordered our food at the counter and picked up our utensils (wrapped in a cute bag sealed with a "thank you" sticker) and filled our drink glasses at the self-serve area with iced tea in large dispensers and can sodas organized by flavors on the table (Coke products..YES!). We sat at a table in this very quaint restaurant and a friendly waitress brought us our food. My husband had the shrimp & grits with toast and I had the grilled cheese sandwich with potato salad. My husband couldn't stop talking about his meal. He said it was the best he's had. The grilled cheese sandwich was so super cheesy and rich with flavor. We will definite eat here again when we're back for a visit. read more

After reading the reviews, Hubby and I decided to try it out. Our Saturday morning usually entails breakfast out and we do try to visit different locations. This place did not disappoint! Limited menu but they have great "create your own" so you can pretty much make what you'd like. Hubby ordered the Chicken and Waffles and I had a Sourdough, egg, bacon and cheese sandwich. Both were quite scrumptious! Prices are very good as well as the service and atmosphere. Give 'em a try! read more

Southern Spoon is now open for breakfast at 7am. I went this morning and ordered bacon egg and cheese biscuit with potatoes. While I wish the potatoes were hash browns they were still pretty good. However, the biscuit is one of the best I've had at a restaurant in a long time! The bacon was crispy as ordered, the egg was well made and the cheese was almost dripping from the biscuit. Good, hot, and delicious. This will be a breakfast stop for us going forward. read more

The first time there was amazing. The next two times were terrible. So bad I could not eat it. They must use an Air Fryer for the chicken and fish. Really bad. Took family there after festival, well after lunch rush only two tables seated. Nothing special. Meat loaf was good, loaded smashed potatoes, majority of the group thought they were instant with maybe some chunks added, honey carrots were not very good. Fries were crispy, grilled cheese was nothing special, smoked brisket was nothing special either. All agreed sweet tea was not good, concision was it was instant tea. Never understood how anyone in Tennessee could mess up sweet tea. Brewed fresh coffee and then they let sit on counter until we went to get it. Had to ask for napkins, and two staff had to find them. Really?? Service at best was mediocre, counter order and no check by staff after delivering meal so I did not see reason to leave any tip. Never like leaving tip at counter when you don't know what kind of service you get. Or did we get lousy service because I did not add tip at the counter ??? Will not return. Maybe food truck is better but store was not worth the price we paid.8 read more

Fantastic. I don't expect a place this great in Smyrna! I ordered the catfish and 3 veggies. The fish was plump and generous. The collard greens came with a sweet pepper syrup that I haven't ever had before and a huge step up from the standard vinegar. Servings were big. It's a few bucks more than I normally expect to pay for lunch. But man, this is worth it. This place is special. read more

Food is great the service is great what more could you ask for wish they would stay open longer than 2pm

Poorest service and food in a very long time. I would have excused it as maybe a one time thing but it has happened twice now. I went and sent them a message didn't want to do a review and bring everything to light on social media. We had 8 orders from work but called them in and they had an hour to get ready almost. The food was cold, raw and they were out of several things on the menu? I had pictures of the food and talked with the owner. Crystal was very apologetic and said she has had issues with staff and wanted to make it right she was refunding the orders. I didn't ask for that but she insisted so gave her the names and NEVER heard anything else and you guessed it she didn't refund the money. Why say it and not do it? I don't see this place staying long term due to poor management and bad service and the food was over priced and not tasty. read more
