I'm trying to start eating healthy *rolls eyes* so I googled "good salads in the area" and Newks popped up! They have a pretty good selection! I didn't know they were a chain, otherwise I probably wouldn't have came- but it was still good and worth the price. I got a cup of the tomato basil soup. The "soups of the day" changes everyday, but luckily I came in on and Saturday, and tomato basil which is one of my favorites were on the menu It was good! Interesting. It had a dollop of goat cheese which totally changed the flavor but not in a bad way. It had chunks of tomato and I added roasted garlic and pepper to it from the salad bar. Those touches made it amazing. I also had the Newks Favorite salad. It was good! Huge!! On the sweeter side- with the grapes. Had artichoke in it which I felt like was a huge plus. Great spot for lunch, but be prepared for a crowd. Large, colorful salads with lots of meat and veggies! I got the cobb salad with ranch instead of bleu cheese dressing. The portion was large and filling, much better than Panera. I wish I would have ordered dressing on the side because they put too much on my salad, still good though. The unsweetened tea was very good, and not watery at all. All drinks come in a plastic cup that you can take home. It's not BPA free though so I wouldn't recommend reusing it more than a few times (inner hippie talking). Downsides were that there weren't very many tables and the staff seemed very short-handed. Tables that were open weren't bussed yet and there was only one cashier taking orders from a line of about 15 people. Perfect spot for meeting friends for lunch on a whim. There's nothing fancy about the place and it's exactly what a cafe in Cypress should look like. It's a walk up and order setup, with many salads to choose from. I had the Newk's salad (picture uploaded). I asked for the dressing on the side, which ended up working out well as I could only eat half of it and saved the other half for later. Pizza and other hearty sandwiches are also served. They serve sweet tea (stars!) sweetened with regular sugar and Splenda. Yay for saving cals. I would like to give Newks 4 stars, however they are a bit short on staff. I had to ask someone to clear off a table for my girlfriend and I as there were no booths open. At least three booths weren't vacant and just needed to be cleared of dishes. NBD, but with open seating it's kind of an eye sore to see tables full of dishes cluttered on tables after people have left. Just something that left an impression on me, I guess. Typical busy Saturday afternoon at a restaurant. My mom and I decided to stop in for lunch after a little shopping. You seat your self and your food is delivered to your table via number card. Red Velvet, Strawberry, other unimportant flavors (because really, when there's Red Velvet, who cares about anything else?) Food is good, service is really good and the interior is also very spacious. I ordered the five cheese pizza, which is served with a pesto sauce instead of the run of the mill marinara, and my friend had the deluxe. If you're expecting a "supreme" pizza you're mistaken. Maybe I made the wrong choices the last (and first) time I came, but I went back this afternoon looking for some healthy alternatives and my meal was both healthy and delicious, so yes, it's possible! I got the grilled chicken sandwich and a side order of Mac and Cheese - the one with bacon to be exact. The Mac and cheese was absolutely delicious! It tasted like nacho cheese and I am the biggest sucker for nacho cheese, and the bacon bits were the perfect crunch. The grilled chicken sandwich was great too, it had lots of chicken and a hint of mustard along with it. I don't really ever eat mustard but it matched well with the rest of the ingredients. The service was great too and it was not at all crowded when we entered the place. I will return again! read more

We went last Friday for the first time and it was "ok". When we arrived, the tables weren't bussed, so it was hard to find a clean table to use. (Eventually, someone came out and cleaned everything). The kids and I had pizza, which we loved. My husband had a tuna (steak) salad which he did not really like. The sodas were robbery at over $2 each. Paying an extra $10 so our family can have tea, diet soda, or regular soda with our dinner is ridiculous. First time here and I love the atmosphere here. Line moved quickly and the cashier was super friendly. There were all sorts of delicious things to choose from. The salads looked awesome, but I opted for the veggie pizza. $8 for a 10 inch pizza is a great lunch time deal. In less than 10 minutes I was served. The server used my name! My pizza was really good. Artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms, red and yellow bells, onions, and tomatoes over a pesto base. All topped with feta! I like my crust thin and crispy, and this was thin, but not crispy. Still flavorful though. A bit greasy. But it was definitely delicious! The salad was good for the most part but a little "Wet" & over dressed. This was our first time at Newks. We have heard many good things about the salads, soups and sandwiches. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 2 to find 80% of the tables had not been cleared or cleaned from the prior guest. Church rush? Baseball team? Did not see anyone cleaning tables during our entire visit. We approached the counter with a few questions about the menu but the staff was so busy in the back discussing personal topics they no one acknowledged us for for several minutes and didn't have a clue about the ingredients of the menu My wife had the Newks Q chicken sandwich. She truly enjoyed it to the point that her plate was cleaned off enough to put back on the shelf without washing. I had the spicy Sicilian pizza that was very good. This eatery had been on my radar for a while, I've seen their plastic cups everywhere. People state how much they like this place. Maybe I came on an off time; plus we came right before a movie near this location. The setup is similar to Cafe Express, but with plastic dishes and cutlery (first let down). The soup, sandwich, and a drink - reusable plastic cup, of course! The timing of delivery was slow given the small crowd, but I was impatient with the movie start time looming (Second disappointment). The lobster bisque soup was exceedingly tasty for the price, but was not as hot as I would have liked (demerit #3). The Italian sandwich was OFF THE CHART (redeeming event)!!! The plastic cup is uber kuhl; the unsweetened tea, however, was on the edge of undress - you know the funky sour taste when mold spores start to grow (forth turn off). Came in for the first time with my girlfriend. Place is pretty big for a sandwich place. Menu is nice and easy to read right at the entrance. I wish they would show pictures of the sandwiches themselves but you have to go online for that. I ordered the steaK sandwich which was average with the lobster and crab bisque. The soup was delicious and they served it in a pretty big bowl. Presentation was great and I was left full and happy. Good amount of food for the cost and a great taste. My GF ordered a different sandwich and it was amazing. I can't remember the name but it was delicious as well as her ceaser salad. We often frequent McAlister's Deli, but my hubby's coworkers turned him onto Newk's, which wasn't in the area we moved from. We decided to give it a try for dinner as a family (us and our 7-yr old son) around 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. I will start by saying that what our son loves at McAlister's are the baked spuds, and they don't have those here. So, he was disappointed at the time of ordering. He ended up getting the kid's pepperoni pizza and he thought it was ok, but said the Kirkland brand frozen pepperoni pizzas were better. Definitely not a home run for him. The adults, on the other hand, were swooning with our first bites! And it didn't take long to get to them either as our food was brought out within about 5ish minutes. I got the Pimiento Mac & Cheese with Bacon and hubby got the Toasted Club sandwich w/pasta salad as the side. The Mac & Cheese was insanely amazing! My son tried it and declared it's what he would be getting next time. I understand! Super creamy and cheesy and hello! Bacon!! ;) I am not a big fan of club sandwiches, but hubby was equally raving, so I tried it and almost didn't give it back. We ended up splitting both meals because we both loved them each so much. The club was just sandwich perfection. What should be soft was soft and what should be crispy (bacon and toasted bread, I'm looking at you!) were crispy/crunchy. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! So, we usually get their pizzas. Ample size to fill us up and so, so good!! Hubby usually gets the spicy chicken pizza and I get the pepperoni. I have recently tried their chicken salad sandwich and I have to say it's probably the best I have ever had. I do wish they had more bread options because it's a little thick for me, but it's just so good. I have even gotten a child's size pizza and added a side salad (it's really big for a side salad) and was completely full without even finishing it all. If you download their app you get a free slice of their 9 layer cake on your next visit. The girls at the register are so nice and helpful. Once I forgot to say no mustard on my sandwich and when I asked to get another and she didn't make me feel bad even though it was my fault and she replaced it. Screw 'em though--I could eat there everyday. My little sister took me and our older sister here when we came to get her to take her back to CO for college. Their menu is huge and everything we had at the table was delicious. My little sister's choice was the Italian sandwich, which was served on crusty bread and was really great. My older sister's choice was the chicken salad sandwich and again, the sandwich was really good. My choice was the Spicy Shrimp Pizza. The Pizza had a ton of shrimp on it and was just the right amount of spicy-with the red peppers. I heard great things about Newk's and was excited to eat here for lunch. People talked about their amazing sandwiches and soups, so, of course, I was eager. There was a teacher workshop at the Berry Center and it seemed that all the teachers had migrated here. The place was packed and the lines were long! The good thing about this place was that orders were placed quickly. Newk's is a sandwich, pizza, and salad kind of place. I ordered their combo which is a half sandwich and soup. I got a half grilled steak sandwich and a lobster/crap bisque soup. For less than $8, it wasn't too bad. Drink not included though. As I said before, the place was packed like a can of sardines. It was mostly all teachers so no riot going on here for no space. There are a few tables outside for eating but it was pouring rain so that was a no-go. It took about 10-15 minutes for orders to be delivered. My issue with Newk's is that they give you a card with your order number, but they don't give you a stand to put your card on. It would make life easier for the servers to see your number and deliver your food instead of glancing at each numbered card on the table. My sandwich was nice and toasted. The bread was wonderful but the grilled steak was decent. It was a bit rubbery and the horseradish spread was very overpowering. My lobster/crab bisque was alright. I imagined it to be more flavorful but it was nothing special. It looked like it came from Campbell soup. I didn't find Newk's to be anything special. To me, it's just a sandwich, salad, and pizza place. I would prefer Jason's Deli instead. At least there, I'll get ice cream with my meal. read more

Another in the Panera, Corner Bakery order at the counter and get your own drink places. And it's just as average food wise as those others. Not fabulous but not bad. A bit over priced and nothing special. But in a hurry you can grab a bite and get to the movie theater a few doors down in a jiffy. If there was a menu at the counter I sure didn't see one. I was glad I had looked online before we arrived and already made up my mind what I wanted. I was totally disappointed in my Cobb Salad: Mixed greens, freshly grilled chicken, bacon, eggs, Gorgonzola cheese, grape tomatoes, green onions, pecans and croutons tossed with Newk's Bleu Cheese dressing. They did sub out that nasty bleu cheese dressing for one that I liked. So that was nice. But it was NOT a Cobb Salad. It was a nice chef salady thing but did not resemble any Cobb Salad I had ever had. The bacon was way too fatty, the freshly grilled chicken was in huge pieces and if there was egg in it I didn't find much. A Cobb Salad should NOT be mixed all up together. So to call it a Cobb Salad is an insult to Cobb Salad. Just call it a chef salad and be done with it. Rant on that over. The fire roasted tomato soup was really good. It had a nice smoky flavor to it that really tasted grilled. Note that the small is barely enough for a little app. So if you order the small bowl be sure you are getting something else or you will leave hungry. My first visit here - and I have a friend who raves on this place - was a bit of a let down. But they do have sammies and pizza I still want to try.
