The cheese was so perfectly melted that it practically fell from the slice under its own weight, like ribs coming clean off the bone. The crust deserves its own mention. Thick, crunchy, and substantial without ever becoming tough. The pizza arrived fresh and genuinely hot, creating that rare combination of texture and freshness that is surprisingly difficult to find. And then there was the service. Perfect. The owner cooked the pizza, and somehow that made the entire experience make sense. This wasn't food assembled because a customer ordered it. This felt like something someone actually cared about making. The atmosphere continues that feeling. Outside, the restaurant is minimalist. Inside, it transforms into a classic Italian bar, complete with paintings and opera playing softly in the background. It feels lived-in. It feels intentional. The prices are reasonable considering the quality. I've had pizzas that tasted like Digiorno. I've had pizzas that tasted like something you'd get at Chuck E. Cheese. This was neither. It was the only place I knew of in the area that you could find high quality, traditional Italian style pizzas with crisp, flavorful, and airy crusts. Their ingredient quality was high, the pizzas were expertly made, it was really something special. Shortly after the name change, I think sometime last year, I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and it was pretty nasty. The chicken was cheap, processed, pressed meat, and the dressing was clearly cheap, bottled dressing. However, I thought maybe it was just growing pains, so finally, tonight we decided to give it another try. Unfortunately, this place is still just a cheap, crappy imitation riding on the coattails of the previous restaurant's good standing. We ordered two pizzas tonight, and one of them was astonishingly bad. The crust was chewy and tough, the whole thing was a sloppy, wet mess, and - I know this sounds crazy - it had way too much cheese. Like, a disturbing, grotesque amount of cheese. I noticed something was weird about it when I was handed the box from the delivery guy and it was the heaviest pizza I'd ever held in my life. There was such a massive amount of cheese that a huge amount of it had sloughed off and slid over to one half of the pizza, leaving nearly an inch-thick layer of greasy, wet cheese. The crust was, unsurprisingly, totally soaked and soggy. On top of that, the quality of ingredients was sub par, just like the time before - frozen, processed, pressed, chicken, canned mushrooms and jarred peppers. It's a shame, because this location used to be a hidden gem where you could get uniquely great pizza in the area, but clearly these guys are cutting corners and caring less about the food they're serving. I know there's a few great reviews on here cor this place - I'm not sure how. Maybe some menu items are better than others, but I won't be coming back to find out.
