The qualify of food & variety of options during lunch buffet is excellent! I haven't seen an Indian restaurant in Austin serve this large buffet at all. Frankly I'm not sure how they're making money from having such a great selection but it's a wonderful place for lunch for those who venture over! The restaurant itself was packed. I got there around 12p and within 30 min, every seat was taken too. It felt a bit cramped when it was all full but that just goes to speak towards how great it is! It's a good problem to have! Tables are also kind of close by each other so if you have a plate full of food make sure you're walking around carefully. I'm definitely going back again! read more

Authentic & delicious! It's been years since I've had Indian food, first time in Texas. My family enjoyed dinner last night including the two kids (one is very picky). Best Indian food in Austin - We ordered takeout from Sitara and we obsolutely loved it! Extraordinary food! We had Biryanis for the first time. Our orders were buttered chicken & garlic naan and chicken biryani. We ordered three meals and had enough for 4 people with leftovers for today. We've eaten at this location 3 other times, and each time they've changed names and owners. Each time the food was very good, now it's even better, the quality and variety of tasty goodies surpasses every other buffet I've tried in the Austin area. My wife and I did not try every thing they offered because our plates weren't big enough, I loved it all, the butter chicken masala and chicken tika masala were amazing, I even tried a dosa which is made while you wait, it's very good and similar to a crepe or thin pancake. I'm pretty picky about my Indian food and not a fan of buffets. Plus I generally despise the Austin fusion Indian food made for non Indians you see within the city limits. However Sitara is fantastic! I did go for the buffet and a pleasant surprise it was. Went here twice so far. One time for dinner and another time for the Sunday buffet. I'll post my experiences, observations, and overall thoughts. Review: Atmosphere - Clean. Family vibe for sure as there are plenty of big families that show up. Simple table and chairs set up throughout the place. Great little decorations around too. Menu - Definitely one of the biggest, if not the biggest, menus within an Indian restaurant that I've been to in the area. So much variety. Food - I will absolutely recommend their butter chicken the most. Had it both times and it was consistent. I think consistency is what helps with the experience when eating because that is why we go to these places. I've also had other dishes here and I recommend everyone trying them too. Now, the only struggle I had was eating a few of the desserts but then again I didn't have the proper palate to eat those accordingly. Service - These guys were extremely nice and easygoing. I received several recommendations. One of the recommendations was the butter chicken and it was worth every bite. Overall Value - I'll say that for dinner, these guys are normal pricing to above average pricing depending on the dish chosen. Certain curries seem to show less food but they can be HEAVY. I eat a whole lot and even though some dishes look small, they are a lot more filling than what is perceived. Their buffet is amazing though and extremely afforable. I would 100% recommend their buffet if you are out with your family but come early for it. Overall Score: I really like this place. Our first time here for their lunch buffet. We were really impressed by their food and service. It's well worth the price ($15) when you get the craving. Dishes were good and variety of choices, even a grill area. This is the spot for REALLY authentic, family-owned Indian buffet in Austin. If your looking for authentic Indian food in a buffet format in Austin look no further. You walk in and it's packed almost every day. For drinks you will get a room temp bottle of water. I'm like this is legit. Come up to the buffet and you will see am amazing array of veggie and meat dishes. Primarily goat and chicken for the meat side. The spice level is up there so if you don't like spice I would not venture here, you will very limited. Items I tried and it joyed include chicken and goat marsala, fresh mutton biryani, white rice, baby corn manbon, spice chicken, and the tandoori, followed by homemade vanilla ice cream. It was excellent, if your an American like myself eat the Biryani but not the piece of mutton, it's definitely an acquired taste. All in all the place is great for what it is and for $15 earns my first 5 star rating. read more

Ok, with the ratings this place had, we thought it would be top-notch. Nope! The food didn't have hardly any taste other than just being way too spicy. But that being said, you can have spicy food that tastes great! It tasted as someone went to a supermarket grabbed some "Indian" mixed spices and just shook them over a bunch of meat and roasted and served them. It didn't taste homemade or good at all. The soup was great! But again to spicy to eat. At the end of the day, I love spice but don't try to use spice to cover up your lack of flavor. Love the food! We had the onion pakoras, paneer khurchan, Malai kofta and it was PHENOMENAL (especially the khurchan). To top it off the wait staff was incredibly nice. My family can be really exacting about the type of food they like and the wait stuff did it all flawlessly. The substitute manager Shiva went out of his way to ensure that we had a good experience. So I went to UPS and passed by this place and decided to give it a shot. I ordered chicken tikka, lollipop chicken, garlic Naan and chicken 555. Yeah I realized I ordered too much chicken but anyways! It was delicious. The flavors were very on point and if you like spicy, I highly recommend the chicken 555! Chicken tikka was Amazingly creamy and I love the fact that's the lollipop chicken was not saucy, which is my favorite. We were the first customers on one of the recent weekends and we weren't disappointed at all. Almost everything we ordered (all vegetarian) was good. Special Call out to Gobi Manchurian and Veg Hakka Noodles. Egg Biryani was good too. My only recommendation would be to work on the ambience a little bit and take away the remote from the guy who is monitoring music system. Absolutely abysmal If I come and say I'm here for take out. And my order is not ready. (Which it was by the way ) that's fine. I'll wait. I'll always be patient. But have the courtesy to come get me or bring my order to me instead of letting it sit there for 30 minutes while my food goes stale or cold. This happens everytime. Normally I never give bad reviews. Especially for places with great food (which again food is amazing). But service here is so bad for takeout that I'm giving it 3 stars. Overall delicious food. We ordered tomato dal tadka which was super delicious and methi malai paneer but instead got paneer butter masala. So far both times I've been to this place I have had something missing or my order was wrong. They forgot my mango lassi the first time I came in. I had to come back to the restaurant. Second time I come in to get a butter chicken which came out to 15 dollars and gave them a 20. They didn't have change for some reason even though they were open till 3pm and I came in to pick up at 2:44pm. Place had lots of people in it. Made me believe that they closed there cash drawer early which i find frustrating because they still had lots of to go orders which meant people were would be coming in to pay for it..... Even still I let it go. I finally sat down to eat and discovered it was cheese not chicken. So I had to walk back to get it taken care of. I just asked for the difference in price not to have the cheese replaced. They didn't listen and proceeded to put chicken. So when I got back and opened it, I was extremely irritated to find only 3 small pieces of chicken in it. 15$ for all of that? They only reason why I gave two stars is because their curry has a lot of flavor. But I think it's ridiculous that they are charging 15$ for 3 pieces of chicken when we all know how much chicken cost . Maybe take out is the reason why I had bad experiences. read more

Worst Indian restaurant currently in Austin!!! Food is bland and tasteless. I used to be a fan of this place 2 years ago. It went downhill during Covid (which is expected during the challenging time) and never came back. Delivery orders are next level. U order any curry in their menu and u get the same gravy, there will be slight variation in color. Went there last week and some of the items were stale and really bad (Dosa n Biryani). Dosa sat on counter for at least ten minutes before delivered to my table. It was already soggy. I did not even mention that to them as I thought I was there on a wrong day. So, when I went there yesterday I mentioned my bad experience from last week and asked the staff (Siva) to not serve stale biriyani and only take my order if the biriyani is not stale. Same story. Biriyani is bland n tasteless n tasted very stale. When complained about this, the guy at the front (Siva) instead of addressing my issue goes on bragging like this - " we make fresh biriyani twice a day (300% lie). we are best biriyani in Austin..in fact best in Texas. People come from Dallas for our biriyani, today also we made 2 catering orders for Dallas folks!!!" (He is hallucinating. No idiot will come from Dallas to Austin for this sub standard, mediocre food, even if they offer it for free. Try saying Leander, cedar park. It will be believable). "Best in Texas" my foot. No limits for their bragging. I mentioned this 'best in Texas' story to my neighbor n he was also once told the same story when complained about their mediocre food. I will start this review with, we didn't get to try the food. So our review is based on first impression. We left before we ordered. I researched Indian buffets in the area, and this restaurant came up. We arrived to see there was no buffet, and that it is no longer offered. But that's not why I'm making this review. I get it, times are tough and buffets sometimes lose money. My review has to do with your menu. You have over 100 items on the menu, and not one explanation or picture of anything on your menu. 100 Indian cuisine meals with their authentic names and not knowing what any of that means. I go to Indian buffets because I want to have it all. And getting a menu of so many items and no explanation of what it is, is discouraging. We waited to ask questions but the waitress didn't come to us for a while and a large party was coming in. I knew that the service probably wouldn't be as quick as we preferred. My main suggestion is to redo your menu to include descriptions, so I'm not spending 20 minutes googling everything to see what I might like. read more
