    Himalayan special flavor naan
    Judy C.

This place mainly serves Nepalese cuisine, with quite a few dishes that are similar to Indian food. The flavors are very rich and aromatic, and many dishes lean toward the spicy side. If you're not great with heat, I'd recommend ordering at spice level 3 or below. Overall, the food is flavorful and satisfying. Definitely worth checking out -- and don't miss their lunch specials, which are a great deal!

Stopped in for a chai . It was very good. I'd get it again. It was small but potent.

One of the most memorable dishes we had was a special that our server highly recommended--and it was truly a showstopper. I wish I had gotten the exact name because I can't find it on their online menu, but visually and flavor-wise it was stunning. It came wrapped and cooked in a banana leaf, layered with rich, velvety saag, what tasted like thin dosa or chapati layers, egg, aromatic spices, tender chunks of meat, and curry, all melded together into this beautifully perfumed, steamy package. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a chili sauce that balanced the heat perfectly. The presentation alone was gorgeous, and the flavors were deep, earthy, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered the curry goat, which was delicately spiced with a wonderful, slow-building heat. The meat was tender, the gravy rich without being heavy, and it paired perfectly with the simple white rice that let the complex spices shine. The tandoori goat chops were the family favorite by far. Everyone loved the smoky char and bold marinade. Personally, I found them a bit softer than I prefer, but the flavor was outstanding--robust, well-seasoned, and unmistakably tandoori. Finally, we ordered the Tandoori Pomfret to go, and I had it later with rice porridge. It was absolutely scrumptious. The fish was fragrant, beautifully spiced, and still juicy, making it the perfect comfort meal with the warm, soothing porridge. Overall, Subham Chettinad Grill delivers authentic, soulful Indian cooking with layers of spice, heat, and aroma that feel both traditional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for real South Indian and Chettinad-style flavors in Austin, this place is a must-try.

There were barely any people on a Saturday night which made us feel a little apprehensive after stepping in. The restaurant was dimly lit and restrooms were dirty. We were a group of 4 people, two of whom are Maharashtrian and know what the food tastes like. Comments for individual dishes: Vada pav - Not served with Mumbai pav but slider buns which is as unauthentic as can be. Sabudana vada - Crispy, tasted good, served with sweet yogurt. Pithla bhari - The worst I have ever had. Pithla was too runny, bhakri was downright stale/unedible. Pomfret fry - Fish skin was burnt, but taste was better than some of the other dishes. Puran poli - It was super thin, barely any puran filling and seemed to have been served after quick heating rather than fresh, the edges were unedible. Saoji chicken curry - Too much garam masala Triple Schezwan fried rice - This was the best dish among all those we ordered. It was served with manchurian gravy. A humble request to the restaurant management - please serve edible, authentic Maharashtrian dishes or remove them from the menu rather than misleading people.

Nothing stood out to me as amazingly delicious like some other Indian cuisine around Austin. The surmai fry had a piece of plastic on the plate (no it was not a bone). Ran out of the jhunka bakri so I ordered a kothimbir wadi which they had forgot. They also forgot my mango lassi. The buffet was not served during the time I was there but it seemed like just a small selection in the corner of the restaurant. I'm happy that a place like this is in Austin, but the service was so lackluster and the food was mediocre so I couldn't imagine myself going back.

Even though it's pretty basic amongst so many other dishes they had, I got the Chicken Tikka Masala, medium spice. The portion size is pretty good, and the dish had a generous amount of chicken in it. It also came with a side of rice. I enjoyed the flavor! I'd say for medium spice it wasn't that spicy - felt more like a mild to me. Honestly, I'm pretty surprised to have found good Indian food in Round Rock. Despite the good food, I'm knocking off a star due to the fairly slow service. We were sitting outside so I'm not sure if at times they forgot about us, but I ended up having to walk in the store to ask someone to take our order because no one had come in a while. Our food also came out at different times; the first few dishes came, and then it felt like there was a solid ~5-8 minutes before the rest of the dishes came.

I tried the Ulavacharu soup--absolutely delicious. It's main ingredient is horse gram, which apparently is in the legume family. It wasn't like any soup I've had before, so description is a bit tough. It was fairly spicy to start with, but less so as I kept eating it. The only things I could identify was ground up horse gram, some sweet onions, and some thinly shaved ginger, but it had a lot of complexity. Highly recommend that and the rose milk (especially if you need some relief from the spiciness when you start out.) I had a little bit of my friend's butter chicken sauce, and that was excellent too. More heavily tomato-based than I'm used to, but a lot of depth of flavor. I'd happily order that in the future. I can't wait to come back and try their buffet when my diet restrictions are over :) Service was great. I asked if a few of the menu items have coconut in them since I'm allergic, and our server double checked with the kitchen for me and was very nice about it. Really pretty dining room as well. The location isn't as central as I'd like, but that does make it easy to find parking in the lot. Definitely recommend!

The butter chicken was rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced without being heavy. The biryani came in giant portions and stood out with a unique flavor profile that set it apart from the usual versions. The samosas were solid and classic, while the pepper chicken brought a nice, satisfying spice. The chicken korma was especially memorable--different from most versions we've tried, in a really good way. The restaurant is quiet and relaxed for dinner, making it a great spot to actually enjoy your meal and company with your loved ones. Portions are large and great for lunch the next day. Located in a busy shopping center with several popular restaurants, this one truly deserves more love. We'll definitely be back.

Please remember they make their dishes per order and this takes time. A good curry or biryani is not made in 15 minutes. We ordered several dishes. To start we had the samosas, pakoras, and my child had the children's chicken lollypop appetizer. For the main dishes we had the hydrabadi chicken biryani, aloo chole, and my child had the keema child's biryani. We also had the mint cilantro chutney and it reminds me of homemade chutney. All were very flavorful and very fresh. My aloo was served with a good portion of rice. All the portions were large. We ate here on Sunday and we still have leftover biryani and I'm finishing my aloo. One thing we noticed that was odd compared to where I usually visit was the server. They were kind of awkward at first and had the "melinneal stare." BUT consider that people can be neurodivergent! The service was great and prompt. It was a bit warm, but the server heard our comments and went and moved a big fan they had out to combat how warm it was. I highly recommend trying them out! To the chefs - please please please put the tomato dahl you have on your online ordering! I'd come here weekly to taste your version.
