I just started coming to the restaurant this summer, and I really enjoy it. The owners and wait staff and so friendly and welcoming. I usually head over for lunch, and the lunch prices run around $9. It is totally worth it. The portions are large, and I usually have left with leftovers. My usual - chicken with cashews (I ask for it to be made spicy) or one of the combo dishes. This is a mom and pop American Chinese Restaurant it delivers as advertised which is why they've been in business for (at least) 20 years. Polite, helpful, fast wait staff and owners. There is nothing fancy here but food is always good no matter what you order. it is the kind of 'Chinese' place my parents enjoyed - but they have some items that are more Chinese traditional. New garden is definitely the best Chinese food in town. Always fresh and fast. For those of you who want more authentic Chinese food, just ask your waiter for the "Chinese menu" and they'll bring the secret menu of authentic Chinese dishes that are delicous! They also have the typical American Chinese food that's just as good. they're very flexible with orders too and always willing to customize your meal as you need. This is my go-to place for a post-game meal. It's fast, friendly, and cheap. Best pot stickers around. Food is good overall, some dishes are excellent. Not unusual to get in and out inside of half an hour, slightly more if it's busy after a football game. read more

THE MENU LISTED ONLINE AND ON URBAN SPOON IS NOT AN ACCURATE MENU. That being said, if you call, the lady that answered the phone was SO helpful and accommodating. ALSO, THEY DO DELIVERY! She helped me figure out what items they actually serve, versus what the online menu says. No one at New Garden added that menu. Very nice and polite. Standard Chinese fare. We had it delivered. Prompt delivery and enough food for two in single combo meals. I'm not a big fan of Chow mein but this was fresh and good. Sweet and sour prawns and pork were good as well. Egg rolls were crisp and were not oily which is a real plus. Chicken curry was tasty. This is our most favorite place to eat. When we cannot decide what to have this is always our go to. Excellent food, the best service and they are always cheerful. Great little waterfall if you get to sit next to it, they are quick with food, and in my opinion the best almond chicken I have found anywhere. I always get a place of almonds chicken with extra sauce. Mmmmm if you want Chinese, don't go anywhere else, if you cannot decide then this is the place to go. read more

We went here on Mom's Weekend at WSU. Go Cougs!. It doesn't look like much from the outside, nor even when you first walk in, but if you sit in the back, there is a huge window and a Rock wall with a waterfall. It's very pretty. The restaurant was super clean. The food... best Chinese I've had in a long time. We are a family of 5 and we all loved our food. Almond chicken and pork chow mein was delicious. Good size portions and they are willing to make it like you want it. Waitress was very nice and I'm assuming the owner came by a couple times to see how we were doing. She was also very nice! The food was good. Menu was average and lacked allergen listings. To their credit, "No MSG" is clearly posted on the menu. Our good was fresh, prompt and the waitress was very capable, efficient, cheerful and promptly helped us navigate allergens. The back room is lovely and quite a surprise! There is a wall of windows looking out to a waterfall tumbling down the rocks. This room seats over 40! From the outside you would never guess at how lovely this part if the restaurant would be! Priced reasonably and easily accommodates vegans. This is our new favorite place in Pullman! (We never had a favorite here before.) They are open 7 days a week! read more

This place was my go-to spot when I was attending WSU. It's typical Chinese fair, but it is sooooo good. The Mongolian Beef is the best I've ever had, and they are very accomodating to substitutions (i.e. chow mein for fried rice). The staff is always perky and pretty darn attentive. This is a must do whenever I find myself in Pullman, and have actually driven out of the way to do so! Whether it is just the quality of ingredients or the care for the product, owners & operators continue to provide an amazing experience. Dining in or take-out; the service is quick, polite, and helpful often in full capacity situations. I can honestly say New Garden's set the standard that no other Chinese restaurant has set anywhere near my home. New Garden Restaurant is absolutely a nice place, I LOVE IT!! I am a Chinese student, so the very first thing I came here is finding a satisfactory Chinese restaurant. THAT'S IT! They provide very healthy Chinese food, like fried vegetables, casserole and soup. It located at Grand Ave, I usually hang out there with my friends, water fish and beef and potato are definitely my favorite food, I ordered this two every time I went there, you won't regret once you try them. They are really delicious! But the price here is comparatively a little bit higher than other Chinese restaurants, for me, it worth. What's more, fast and friendly server, which makes you in a good mood. The cooks are hired from Southeast Asia area like Vietnam and Fujian. It is a kind of guarantee for authentic Chinese food. I am a WSU student here. The New Garden Restaurant is my favourite chinese restaurant in Pullman. I often have dinner here, maybe 3-4 times a week, so I even can not count how many times I came here. The restaurant is located at Grand Ave. It is a main road in Pullman. It is very easy to go here, but somethimes parking is a big problem. The boss and waitress here are very friendly, so you must be very happy if you choose here to have dinner. The food is very delicious, such as spicy chicken, boiled fish and mapo shrimp. These are my favourite food. However, the price may be a little bit high. In addition, there is a mini waterfall outside the back room. It is very cute, so you will have fun when you have dinner in the back room. I love it very much. The food is always tasty and usually just a few minutes from ordering to being served. There is a branch restaurant in Pullman called Golden Teriyaki, so the qulity of the food can be guaranteed. Sometimes I go there because it is very close to my home. Enjoy! read more

Now, I am an international student in WSU and I came to America for already two years. In my opinion, the New Garden Restaurant is a little bit better than other Chinese restaurants in Pullman. And the lady who owns this place is very kind and friendly, she always helps my friends and me to solve our difficulties, such as where can we go to pay internet, which express company is cheap. She can use English, Chinese and Vietnamese talk to customers. Because of that my friends and I go there almost 3 times a week. And the location of New Garden is a little far away from campus which 400 S Grand Ave, but in front of restaurant it is easy to park your car. In New Garden the boss and waitress/waiter here are very hospitality. I really recommend you the spicy chicken, fried rice, boiled fish, potato beef, and mapo shrimp. When my friends and I go there boss will choose the meals for us, we ever do not need to order. The food is very delicious; I would like to eat all the meal on the menu, also you can get your food very fast. For the fixture there is a small waterfall out of hall. In addition, the price of the food is acceptable for me; it cost about 15 bucks per person. The only defect is they do not have delivery service. read more

I will NOT be coming back to this place! The server was very rude and was having a bad day! Im sorry but dont put your bad day on us! We ordered a meal and got chow mein and the upcharge was SIX dollars and she failed to mention it to us until the end! When we asked her why the bill was this much she said she didnt know and blamed another girl for taking care of the bill! I used to love this place and dined in and got delivery regularly. Unfortunately, we will never be returning after learning of their creative pricing and overhearing one of the most unprofessional conversation between the owner and waiter about me questioning the almost 40$ tab for two dinner sized entrees. The waiter openly admitted that the owner will give discounts or just outright different prices to people who dine in, but doesn't honor same price when you order take out. Still trying to figure out how we managed to eat there over ten times without being upcharged for pork fried rice instead of steamed. Then this time, it was almost 10$!?!?! I don't mind paying extra for pork fried rice but I do mind that they didn't place me on hold and how I overheard every word about how it is what it is, but they couldn't even explain how it was the correct price. Then when I get there, the waiter who took my order ran into other room, the owner wouldn't even make eye contact or apologize for her unprofessional conversation, and they made this poor unsuspecting waitress to handle me. Just a huge disappointment considering how regularly we ate there. The food was always decent, but it really rubbed me the wrong way how I was treated when I merely questioned the pricing, which it sounds like I had good reason to. read more

They used to have good food. In the last couple of years the quality has diminished. The last time I ate the beef and broccoli there, the beef had a rainbow sheen on it. I thought it was weird but ate it anyway...I don't know what I was thinking. I got pretty sick, I think they used old meat. I wouldn't suggest this to any friends now. Its a shame, I used to have good memories from there. Plus whenever I get the check it always seems to be bigger than what I thought it would be, they don't put the price of each meal on the ticket and tally it up they just put each meal on the ticket and and the overall price on the bottom, so you don't know exactly what you are getting charged for. My favorite Chinese (and Korean) restaurant in the Pullman/Moscow area. The food is consistently very good quality, tasty, and usually just a few minutes from ordering to being served. The owner seems to remember everyone by face, if not name, and is always very upbeat and friendly. The staff also seem to care about serving you well and they help each other out when filling tea and water. Recommend Mongolian Beef from Chinese Menu and Jam Bong from Korean menu (on back of main menu). read more

It is sad to say but New Garden has gone down hill. The last two times my husband and I ate there we where so disappointed. The pork fried rice was dry old white rice. My sweet and sour prawns smelled so bad I did not eat it in fear of getting sick. The once awesome egg rolls soggy and taste less. We will not return. I have been coming to the New Garden for years and they have failed to impress. The food is wonderful, service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is inviting. Today I got the Hunan chicken lunch and it was on my table in minutes! It was perfect, not to spicy but with enough heat that I knew it was there. My server did an amazing job coming by and checking on my just the right amount not to much but not to seldom. Which is rare in restaurants these days. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Pullman until recently. I ordered the pork fried rice which is usually really good, but the flavor seemed off. Then I realized there was a piece of chewed gum in the rice. I immediately called and the owner answered the phone. Having been a regular customer for almost ten years I expected him to say "I'm really sorry. What can I do to make this right?". Instead he cut me off and said that no one there chews gum. He then INSISTED that I bring the food back to prove I didn't eat it to get a refund. I could not believe my ears. Every time I tried to speak he interrupted me and accused me of trying to get free food. Had it not been for this I would have very likely continued to go there because mistakes happen. His complete disregard for his customers has turned me off. If you can't trust the owner to take responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of the establishment then you have to wonder what else he let's slide. read more
