Delivery was fast, food was hot. HOWEVER... Ordered 4 chicken wings, didn't like that they were hacked into A LOT of pieces with raw bone showing at the ends (complete with pin feathers, gross), but it was crispy. Also got sauteed dry string beans, they were very tasty but not sure if it was the chicken or the string beans that have my tongue tasting very metallic. Like a sour taste in my mouth/throat. I don't have any issue with MSG so not sure what's up. My cats usually try to maul me to get to them any time I order chicken wings but this time I gave both of them meat that they had no interest in it at ALL. Something's off here. I gave it Two Stars for the convenient on-line ordering a quick delivery, but it ends there. Just ordered there today and the sesame chicken my son wanted had this horrible odor to it. The chicken was chewy, and smelled terrible. My sweet and sour chicken was mediocre, nothing special, but not as foul smelling as that sesame disaster. It was inedible. Today - as in previous orders, the Pork Fried Rice was nearly devoid of any PORK!!! And was crunchy. My stomach is bothering me this evening, and I can't tell yet if its the aggravation or that horrible food. Either way, I will NOT be back. read more

Order here if you want a place that serves low quality food that skimps on ingredients. We had chicken lo mein that was practically all noodles and barely any chicken. The so called "lobster fried rice" was 97% yellow rice and onions mixed with a very scant amount of imitation crab mixed with what looked and tasted more like tiny bits of crawfish meat. The fact that they believe they can insult people's intelligence by calling this "lobster" is ridiculous. read more

Their food is too greasy, isnt fresh. The woman that works at the counter is rude and abrupt. I complained to her and was quite apathetic. Started to speak in her natural dialect. Completely disrespectful of my issues. I will not go there EVER again. read more

There's nothing wrong with the food, but this new generation of New China staff is totally disrespectful and awful about adhearing to the offers they present. Understandably, there are certain conditions to using their special orders - like the order must be paid for in cash to get it - and no lunch specials can be a part of the required amount to use the special coupons. Over the past six months, they have refused to fulfill our order using these free specials that THEY offer, stating that while our order is over the required amount and we are paying for it in cash, that because there is a lunch special item on there that takes the total well over the amount to be able to use the special offer coupons. Instead, what they do - in spite of the fact that I put notes on the online order requesting that they call if there is a problem with using the special offer they give for our order, the guy just shows up with the order - leaves the special offer items in the car and practically ransoms them off for additional cost even though they were supposed to be free. This is not the first, second, or third time they have done this to us, but it is the LAST! We have been ordering from New China for nearly 20 years. I don't know if the next generation took it over and are just botching things up or if the original owners sold the place, but they just lost a religiously loyal customer. read more

I ordered Vegatablel Lo Mein, General Tso Chicken and Sauced String Beans and I vas very disappointed. Nothing was freshly made, the lo mein was gummy with old broccoli and the chicken was small nuggets and not the usual chunks and again it was not fresh (I hope it was chicken). The string beans was more eatable but not great. This will be the last time I will go there for sure. read more

Honestly, best chinese food in town. But delivery and service is awful. we ordered online at 830pm. got an email confirmation at 835pm stating our food would be delivered by 930pm. 945 rolls around, no food. I call, some guy confirms the order was received and food is on the way. 1045 rolls around. no food. I call up, another guy answers the phone and has no clue what I'm talking about. I read off to him our confirmation number. he calls me back 10 minutes later, they don't have the order. we order from this place all the time, and yes we've gotten jipped on a couple orders here and there, and sometimes the food is late. but this was the last straw. after 2years of patronage, no more. read more

Recommended for take out. I am a Chinese food snob, spoiled from many years of living in NYC. there are very few GREAT Chinese restaurants in the 'burbs, and this is no exception. That being said ordering wisely at New China will get you some excellent dishes. The hot and sour soup is very good ; the Singapore Mee Fun is also great; the black bean sauce dishes are nice. Look for menu items with fresh veggies. If you order crappy fried food, that is what you will get.I am grading on a curve when I give it 4 stars--better than most in the 'burbs and a bargain to boot. read more

This place is easily the best chinese spot in town. While I was in there I was chatting with another customer and they were from Fairlawn. They came all the way to bloomfield just to enjoy their food! After dinner I can see why! I've lived around the area for a couple years now and I have tried pretty much all of the places around bloomfield/belleville and this is by far the best. I order the mai fun and the general tso chicken and they were seasoned beautifully. Will be coming back quite often to try the rest of the menu! read more

We have tried so many Chinese restaurants since moving to Bloomfield, and unfortunately we keep looking for the best orange chicken you can get. For some many put to much breading and no chicken. In this case it's sautéed, but the flavor lacked. The rice was just so, nothing to write home about. Our such continues. We also tried wonton soup which was ok! The tortillas were stale. My husband said the steam dumplings was ok. The search continues! read more

i've been trying to find the perfect Bloomfield Chinese food source for the last two years. somehow, i never tried New China until now. i have found the source. I judge Chinese food places based on two menu items, in descending priority: general tso's tofu and vegetable fried rice. *****TOFU: their gen. tso's tofu is PERFECT in every way for my taste. every other spot in town does this dish in the 'squishy' style, where the tofu cubes are huge (low surface area for sauce) and gelatinous, possibly from being undercooked or steamed. the sauce coating ends up sticking to itself and peels off of the cubes. disastrous. New China makes CRISPY little frickin' cubes. o, how i have searched for thee. the crispy outside provides something to chew on, yet the cores somehow remain soft and hot. amazing. the cube size is also ideal - you can fit two or three on a fork and they're already covered with the perfect amount of tsauce. ***FRIED RICE: this fried rice was alright. it was a little dry, perhaps because it was the end of the night. mucho lightly fried chopped onions which is a huge plus. i ordered at 10:35 and the food came at 11:10. not bad, maybe a little slow. the tso's will keep me coming back. read more
