So my husband and I wanted to have some close to NY style takeout. My husband gives this place 8/10, I would give this place 7/10. Our egg rolls weren't good, it had more cabbage then anything else. The pork fried rice was good and the beef with broccoli was a solid 10. My husband got the General T'sos chicken with pork fried rice as well and he loved it, 10. We also got the wings and they were okay, the crab Rangoon was better. We got it to go and it was packaged well and kept safe for the drive home. Tucked away into the corner of an older shopping center, next to the Goody Goody's liquor was what I thought might be a potentially good hole in the wall restaurant. Inside was clean with reminiscent Asian style wood tables. Place seats about 20 people or so max. The menu was printed on paper but there was also a marquee above and behind the register across the back wall. I decided to go with the $6.95 special lunch. I also ordered some chicken wings to go with it (8). Bill came to about $14 so economically it's a good place for lunch. As for the food, I have to say I was a bit taken back by yellow rice. Perhaps it's a new style I'm unfamiliar with. First thought perhaps it's couscous, then maybe Spanish rice, and then maybe saffron. But I believe it to be their version of steamed rice. Visually was not appealing, but the taste was fine. I prefer seasoned steamed rice if possible but normal steamed rice is fine by me also. Would have been plenty to split with my wife or kids. The chicken wings were crispy, served also with the same style of rice. Not flavored very well and might say a little on the bland side. The General Tso's chicken was flavored well, had a nice tangy flavor. I wondered whether it was actually orange chicken since it was breaded. In any case the flavor was decent. I am laughing a bit writing this because inside the restaurant is a sign that suggests you taste the food first before adding sauces to it (hot mustard, sweet/sour, soy, etc). I'd say the food could use some. I struggled to decide whether it's at two star or three-star level, but will round up as I feel like it's about 2.6. If someone scored it a 2 I wouldn't argue with them. The presentation just doesn't look great. Food average. Portions are great. Food took about ten minutes and it appeared they were cooking the food as the orders came in. The lady taking my order didn't seem to be particularly interested in answering my questions. She did seem a little nicer when I returned about ten mins later to take my food to go, I stepped out and walked up and down the center to try and burn a few calories. But a $7 lunch that would be enough leftovers to eat later is a decent deal, but buyer beware I'd put it maybe a half step above buffet Chinese food. read more

We have e been looking for a local authentic Chinese restaurant, so we decided to try New China out. The restaurant is located on the border of Highland Village and Lewisville which is a great location from where our house is located. When we arrived at New China it seemed to be somewhat busy ,though they still had plenty of tables to choose from. While we were looking at the menu a customer had picked up her food and noticed we were looking at the menu. She continued to tell us of how good the food is, and we would really enjoy it. This really made us feel like we may have found a new Chinese restaurant to add to our list. The restaurant appeared to be clean and kept up with and the orders of food were flying out the door with very short wait times. I ordered Szechuan beef with fried rice. I was a little let down, because it had one of the main ingredients left out which was the whole peppers to make this plate spicy by tradition. The peppers were substituted with flake peppers and the sauce was sweet which was a huge surprise. The fried rice was more of a brown rice. The portion size was pretty good for the price. I also ordered the egg drop soup,egg rolls,spring rolls and crab rangons which were excellent. My wife ordered sesame chicken with steamed rice. The sauce on this plate was a little sweeter then traditional Chinese sesame chicken but it was still good. We also shared vegetable lo mein which was very good and the vegetables were very fresh. The only thing I would love to see is that New China would switch to traditional whole peppers on all their spicy food plates. Instead of offering a small packet of chili sauce to spice the plate. We ordered take out. They were out of chicken teriyaki sticks so we got the beef. Big mistake. It was so chewy we literally could not eat it. If I can cut it to small pieces we may give it to the dog. The pork fried rice was pretty good. The reason I gave any stars was because the fried dumplings were amazing!!! Let me say that again - if I ever order from here again I will order many many many of the fried dumplings with the sauce. It was their saving grace. read more

A solid 3 for Americanized Chinese Food, which is not bad for takeout. I was greatly impressed by the hot & sour soup - and next time, will get a large. Instead of the usual strips of pork, tofu and bamboo shoots I got a bowl chock full of vegetables and pork - no tofu. This is how it should be. I also ordered the Szechuan shredded beef extra spicy but the beef was not shredded. A decent amount of sliced veggies, all fresh. We have virtually no Chinese food in Corinth that is worth the effort to drive for takeout so I'm looking forward to my next trip here - to see if I can talk them into a dish more authentically Chinese. Food was okay. The positives are there were a lot of shrimp. The shrimp were nice sized, not tiny ones. The menu said the Hunan and Szechuan was not spicy, barely had flavor. We ended up draining the Hunan sauce and mixed the left overs together in the Szechuan sauce that although not spicy, had some flavor. read more

Have been coming to New China for about 5 years now, and I have not one complaint. I really enjoy the $5.50 special's.. food is always hot, portions are big, and flavor hits the spot.. I love this place way better than Panda Express because I know my food is made fresh and isn't made in mass quantities that just sit until ordered. Can't believe all the bad reviews.. regardless I will keep coming back. Also a good thing to consider is that this is a family ran business and I would much rather support them than some chain restaurant that doesn't make quality food. They have a pretty good selection of typical chinese dishes. I tried their Kung Pao chicken with white rice. The veggies had good flavor and it was cooked right. I didn't think the flavor was better than OK. It was decent but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. They have a fairly large number of tables and they have room for big parties. They didn't have a great selection of soda's (only pepsi products) and the "ice" tea was hot when we came here. read more

Wish we would have found this years ago. It's the Best Chinese food in the L/FM/HV area. The crab rangoons are a must. The orange chicken and General Tso's chicken are delicious. I really appreciate that you can get all white meat instead of dark on any order. The house special lo mein and egg drop soup are better than any other Chinese restaurant in the area. I'm intrigued to try the Egg Drop/wonton soup combo. Their menu is probably the most diverse in the area as well. The value for what you get is unbeatable. They have very friendly ,fast service. We have never eaten in, always just carried out so I cannot comment on the dining in experience. But it's always clean when we go to pick up. Wish they would deliver. read more

Best tasting Chinese food I've ever had. They use the freshest ingredients and It's as if every meal was made especially for you. My whole family loves it from grandkids to Poppy! I saw the rating for New China and thought I give them a try. The place was empty when I walked in and I thought "oh boy not good" they did a very busy take out trade. The lady came out of the back said hi and answered my questions. I settled on Sweet and Sour Pork, fried rice and the soup a mixture of egg drop and wantons. I chose to eat there. Oh my goodness the fried rice is to die for and the other reviews are right the portion are BIG. The restaurant was very clean and well maintained , bathroom clean and well stocked also. We had been going to New China for years. They always provided good food and good service... until today. When my husband went to pick up our to-go order the person behind the counter charged him for the wrong (much more expensive) order. He immediately informed her of the error. Instead of refunding the entire amount and charging us the correct amount OR pulling out a calculator to figure out the difference to give him cash back, she stood and scratched her head while our food grew cold. My husband got frustrated and said he would just take $15 in cash just so he could leave. She handed over the cash which was a couple dollars short and he went on his way. Sadly, a previously decent business showed us tonight how they treat their customers when they've made a mistake. Gave it one star as you do get generous portions. Food has no taste. The fried rice is really boiled rice with no taste. You will need to season as well as fry the rice. Pork portions are small. Again, no taste except boiled pork. Orange chicken has zero spice, tasted like boiled breaded chicken. Chicken and mushroom was like soup. Actually watered down soup. No taste. We had the food delivered, but I am sure this is not an authentic chinese restaurant. There are lots of other options that have just as much portions, but you actually get tasty food. read more

I have been coming to New China for many years now. I left town to go to college, and now have been living away for many years, yet every time I come home to visit my parents, they know that at least once while I'm on town, we have to go get the General Tso's Chicken at New China. The sauce...I don't know how they make it...but I try EVERYONE'S general tso, and this place has the best sauce. No one else I've ever found has quite the same balance of sweet, sour, tangy and spicy. Sometimes I would order the broccoli (always perfectly steamed) in General Tso's sauce. My parents enjoy the Kung pao and occasionally the lo mein, too. And I always have liked their large, distinctive egg rolls. Give this place a shot :) read more

I love this place. My family has been ordering from here for years and the food has never been anything less than exceptional. I've never had a bad dish from here and the service is always speedy. My favorites over the years include: lo mein- meat is always great quality and I usually order extra spicy which comes out really nice, beef broccoli- love the brown sauce, moo goo gai pan with great cuts of chicken and crispy vegetables. Also, the hot and sour soup is really good here. Very flavorful. The portions are so large that my family orders a couple of dishes and we split up with plenty of leftovers.
