The food is delicious. It's how I expect Chinese food to taste and you don't get that many places in this area. The Hunan Beef is one of my favorites. We had a large group and because everyone had their own and we weren't all sharing some had to wait. The food comes out a little at a time. I got to-go food for dinner tonight from here. I used their website to order. I got the general tso's chicken, combination fried rice, chilly fried fish, braised eggplant and a side of fried rice. The chicken was my least favorite as it was tasteless. The dish had a bit of sauce and a few pieces of broccoli, but overall it was very lackluster and I wouldn't order it again. I liked the spice in the fish and the silky texture of the eggplant. The plain fried rice was not very good...I wish they would add a little bit of veggies to it. The combination fried rice had shrimp, pork, egg and chicken and was curry flavored. I liked it. My fortune cookie had a strange message, lol. My wife and I decided to try something new for Chinese new year eve. The restaurant was about 1/3 full, so wasn't busy at all. We ordered pan fried bao, clear beef noodle soup and this beef stirfry as pictured. Overall, it was more Americanized Chinese than authentic. Nothing wrong with that as I actually enjoyed Panda Express, but I had higher expectation given the reviews and price. Pan fried bao, note the lack of meat? Wasn't bad when I added some soy sauce and spice, but the portion of meat was lacking. The beef noodle soup was very bland as in barely any flavor. I realize it's not the dark version soup, but it should still have some flavor. Beef, veggies were fine, but the noodles looks to be egg noodles or almost ramen like. It didn't have any chewiness or bounce, so I'm certain this is not freshly made. Lastly, the combo beef stirfry...I forgot the actual name they called it. Overall, you can see that it's very saucy, and the beef was not very velveted well in that it was chewy. This is my second review on Yummy Sichuan in Flower Mound. I have been on the search for a true authentic Chinese restaurant for years. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants out there but unfortunately the standards are very low. Yummy Sichuan has raised the bar and by far. They have the best Chinese food in North Texas. The food is made to order and has a very authentic and bold flavor. You can also tell that standards are very high and the staff want to make sure the customers are happy with what they order. This in itself shows how Yummy Sichuan will always be my choice when visiting Texas. The restaurant is always clean and well kept up with. There is plenty of seating for small to large groups. We used to go to the prior establishment here which was East Wind. Don't know if there's any connection but it's still a Chinese food place. Inside is nice with options for booths or tables. It's run by folks who do know the Chinese name for the dishes so that's a plus. Our first test is the soup dumplings. These are pretty good. You get six for about $12 which is usually enough for the four of us. The servings here are quite generous so plenty to share. It is a little different in that the regular entrees don't necessarily come with rice, you have to order it on the side for a buck or so. They do have great prices on their lunch menu $9.95 for a good serving portion, egg roll, rice (included on this lunch menu), and a small soup. Red chili oil is pretty good here, don't know if they make it homemade or not. It's available lunch M-F. The duck that I tried was pretty good. A smidge dry for some pieces, but they serve it bones in which can be a little bit of effort to eat with chopsticks....I have also tried on another visit from the Szechuan menu lamb/cumin. I should have known the cumin would dominate the plate and it did so I wouldn't recommend this one, though it had a good flavor. It's just too hot and your mouth can go numb from too much cumin I think...LOL.... We have tried both the orange and sesame chicken and it's very flavorful and good, although a bit on the sugary syrup side...My wife tried the shrimp lo mein one visit and it was pretty good. One of the few dishes where she actually ate the leftovers....and my older daughter tried the shrimp fried rice. Both use the 50-60 count shrimp size but they are plentiful and it seems to work. Certainly stick with the traditional plates here and you will be fine as far as our experience. Definitely order the soup dumplings. Dinner prices rise up to the $15-25 range so I definitely prefer to come here for lunch during the week. But I still feel it's a decent value for dinner prices as well. I really love Yummy Sichuan! We have enjoyed carry out from here many times and the dine in experience was so fun. They have several tables for our large group and were very accommodating. The meals are served family-style, which we enjoy. We stuck with some favorites like General Tso's chicken and shrimp with lobster sauce. The shrimp were a nice medium size, flavorful bite! Shrimp dumplings were fantastic and the crab Rangoon were the best I have ever had. They were filled to the brim. The soups are always a go-to and it's my favorite hot & sour I have ever had. Chrysanthemum tea - just FYI they don't have the rock sugars here if you usually like putting the rock sugar cubes in your tea over the powdered sugar packets. Just tasted like a steamed pork dumpling, the soup in it was bland to me. Spicy wonton - unless you REALLY love cumin seasoning, I would pass up on this. The cumin was so overwhelming it overshadowed everything else I ate. It also came in a deep bowl as If it was mean to be like a soup. I've never seen it served this way. My husband and I tried one dumpling each and we couldn't eat more. We just really didn't like it. Beef noodle was okay. String beans was a little overcooked but I still liked it enough.. I liked this place a lot and thought the food was above average taste. The service was ok, you can tell it's not a chain restaurant, and it was fully empty when we went (which was like 3pm on a Sunday). The food came out fast and portions are huge. In town for a Monday lunch we were originally planning on going around the corner to Ista for Indian food but they are closed Mondays.. with that we saw Yummy Sichuan and always one for a lunch special of Chinese food I was "in" Restaurant has been a Chinese restaurant before , ate there years ago under different owners. The owner seated us right away and we were served almost immediately We both ordered off the luncheon menu which has its own page of ample options, lunch includes an eggroll and soup. Note , only white rice is available to which we were both disappointed. Food came out near immediately and incredibly hot. I ordered the country style tofu and why wife had chicken and vegetables. The good, portion size was ample . The bad, my wife's dish was incredibly salty and my dish and no depth to the flavor. The word on the street since this place first opened its doors it's that it's the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Flower Mound. However, judging the authenticity of any type of food is well above my pay grade so I can only speak with authority on how incredibly tasty the food is. We started with appetizers of Shaghai eggrolls and Zhong's spicy dumplings. For entrees, we ordered Dandan noodles, chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork, sesame chicken, and dried chili chicken. Two separate bowls of white rice were provided to accompany the family style platters of entrees. One thing that I should point out is that the little pepper symbols next to the menu items actually indicate some real heat. All too often they appear on Asian restaurant menus without corresponding to any meaningful level of spiciness. But, the spices/peppers they use here really do pack a punch, as evidenced by the fact that we were all breathing fire after eating the dried chili chicken! In near record time, practically everything we ordered was enthusiastically consumed, down to the last grain of rice by my ravenous brood. Even the eggrolls, being the most pedestrian of all the dishes, still flew off the plate. But, we didn't just gorge ourselves out of sheer hunger, we did it because the food was so irresistible! Wow finally some authentic Szechuan! Very nice restaurant with a large, clean, bright eating area and with to-go service, as well. The staff was very friendly and service was very quick. I got "Dry Chili Chicken" to-go and it was incredibly good. Extremely crispy and full of deep flavor. The pics make it look super spicy but it was not uncomfortable, but rather the cooked chilies added a very deep savory flavor. Note, the main entrees do not come with rice by default but you can add a side of rice for a tiny upcharge. The prices look a bit on the higher end but I was able to get two lunches out of one order. If you are dining in, consider the entrees as family-style to share with the table. By the way, the chicken was still super crispy the next day after microwaving! They actually have 7 chefs working that are from Sichuan themselves. Go for the spicy chili chicken. It's the famous Sichuan Mala Chicken that has that addicting numbing heat from the Sichuan peppercorns/peppers. If the heat is too much, try the Sizzling Beef. The beef is literally sizzling and juicy right when it's brought out to eat. The Sweet and Sour fish is cooked so well and it has a light crisp exterior that's not oily at all. My only complaint is at night the Restaurant sign doesn't light up so I almost missed it. read more

Pregnancy makes you do crazy things like drive 25 miles north to Flower Mound from Arlington just to get Chinese food. This establishment is very large with an airy white linen table top aesthetic, definitely date friendly, but can easily have children there as well. This establishment was the only place I could find a very specific menu item. The dish I wanted is called Szechuan boiled beef and I've had it at one uppity Chinese establishment in Los Angeles and fell in love with it. Yummy definitely came through with handling my craving. When I heard that a Sichuan-style restaurant opened within walking distance, my interest peaked. When I found out they serve actual Sichuan dishes, I was excited! Buns. Soup dumplings (didn't get to try these this time around), dry hot pot (can only dream of actual hot pot - I'm hopeful!), great flavored dishes! This time, we got scallion pancakes (great!), chicken potstickers (ok), pan-fried buns (great!), toothpick beef (expected to be spicy, but was fairly mild), pork w/ garlic sauce (great!) - to go. The inside of the restaurant was empty at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, but that's expected for that time of day (and during a continued pandemic). There were a couple of people leaving with to-go orders when I arrived. Will definitely visit again and try even more things on the menu - I will likely ask for additional heat on the spicy dishes, I'm used to the numbing heat of Chinese peppercorns (but not saying that's exactly what I'm looking for here!).
