I ordered Dragon Express through Uber Eats, as I had a craving for Chinese food. You never really know what to expect as far as quality when food is delivered. Let me tell ya, I was shocked to see the portion size. The bag was heavy! I ate on this haul for 3 days! I got the level 4 spice on everything. The Lo Mein is the only one I noticed a little heat with. General Tso's lacked flavor, but the chicken looks mein was packed with flavor! The fried rice was also a good portion size and packed and overflowing when I opened the container. Overall, average food but outstanding portions. What can I say? Cheap, flavorful, fresh food. At this point I'm a regular. The staff is always kind and quick. I usually order direct from their website and I've never had to wait when the order is scheduled to be ready. The restaurant is small and not what I would describe as inviting. This place's entree portions are solid. I read some of the other reviews of this place. First of all, know places like these are basically Americanized Chinese food. So when you talk about it not being authentic Chinese food, duh? Secondly, customer service is on par with establishments like these. What.. you expect fine dining service and someone to shine your shoes too? At a place where you don't even tip (since most customers order takeout). Temper your expectations. The cashier has always been nothing but cordial and as expected. I will say though that about 25% of the time, they've handed me the wrong order. Would be great if that gets improved. read more

Came in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon around 2pm. Only person in the place, food was prepared quickly and I was on my way. I did plan on eating in, but when I placed my order he didn't ask and I didn't specify either way I guess so when I received to go packaging I just went ahead and headed home. I ordered broccoli with garlic sauce, and even though it is listed as a spicy dish it wasn't spicy at all and had a very strange almost sweet/ tangy taste to it. The sauce was on the thick side also, not what I'm used to when ordering broccoli with garlic sauce from other places. Oh, man, I never like to do this but I hope it helps the business out. I ordered the garlic chicken and it was pretty bad. It was bland and it tasted like everything was marinated in thick water. I mean I almost tasted nothing in regards to seasoning or salt. How can I not even get a salt taste with Chinese cooking? I mean, it looks like there's soy sauce in there. I couldn't taste it. Everything just tasted like wet vegetables and chicken. The hot chili oil left a lot to be desired as well. It tasted burnt. Like they poured the hot oil, if they make it themselves, over the chili powder, while it was too hot. I really wanted to give a one star but I only reserve that for places with bad food and service. This is what I got when I ordered chicken chow mein. I have no idea what's this is supposed to be but it's not chicken chow mein. In fact, it's unidentifiable. It's a solid spot that has never let us down, with good flavors and value for the pile of food they provide you with (definitely recommend the Shanghai cow mei fun and the moo shu pork), tho I admit they can be a little heavy handed with the oil. This is the worst chinese food I have ever had. I ordered garlic chicken, look it up in any Asian cook book and it is chicken cooked in a brown garlic sauce. It is not schewann, it is not hot! Instead I received chicken and vegetables sopping in red sweet and sour sauce with literally tons of red pepper flakes. It was a look hot, it set my house on fire. When I called to explain i did not get what I ordered, Chow chose to tell me I did not know what garlic chicken was, but what I received was correct. They screwed up our order, and then FIRED us as customers, refusing to do business with us again - and it was only the second time we ever tried them! I ordered the family dinner for two, with sesame chicken and pork egg foo young. He asked if I wanted the noodles or vegetables, and I said no, I want the pork egg patties for egg foo young. Seemed to understand it and confirmed both. An hour later, we got one order of some mush that looked like little strips of red beef in onion slush! I called them, and a young Chinese American guy apologized for the mistake and would send the right order out - although it would be another hour. All seemed ok, until I opened the order, flipped the receipt over, and found written, "It's you mistake - we no do you business anymore - manager Dragon Express"! WHAT???!!!! I've NEVER been so insulted by any place before, and this is just unheard of. My husband worked for several Chinese restaurants before, including deliveries, and never saw a customer banned for something like this. It's absolutely ridiculous. I was thinking I needed to find a better Chinese restaurant before this, since everything is pretty greasy, tasteless and sloppy, but I never imagined this dumpy little place would have such bad business ethics to do this! So I wanted something different and it was a while since I've ordered from here so I gave it another go, but I wanted to eat somewhat better(not completely healthier) so I asked to get my version of chicken fried rice but with steamed white rice. The guys behind the counter have me a weird look and I think it was the owner or their son who told me that they wouldn't make my dish bc he didn't want to have to order stuff in bulk to make my order bc it's not something they have in the menu which made no sense to me then and much less now. They have all the ingredients they're so I don't understand why he was being such a douchbag about it, unless they get everything prepackaged and all they have to do is throw it in a wok and just heat it up which would make more sense in why he was acting like that, but maskes it kind of gross and not so fresh. Dragon Express is my go-to place for delicious, fast, and fresh Chinese cuisine that won't break the bank. If you think the Panda Express franchise is good food, then ready to be blown away. Not only is the food tasty, it's also cooked made to order--no buffet steam tables keeping the food hot--you order it and then they cook it. Does it take more time? Of course but I've never had to wait more than about 10 minutes but fresh always beats warmed over food in my opinion. I haven't tried out many dishes other than my favorites--General Tso's chicken, beef with peppers, and orange chicken or beef--but is all amazing. Plus the portion sizes are about 2x as much as Panda and there is usually some left over for left-overs. The price can't be beat, especially the lunch specials which include an entree, rice, and an egg roll or soup for under $10 including tax! At Panda you only get a tiny bowl and an egg roll for the same price. The restaurant is also a family owned and local business, so you're money is going to a small business in the community instead of a corporate monolith out of California. read more

The other night I ate at Dragon Express for the first time and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure I've ever really noticed the place, I don't spend a lot of time in that part of Lewisville and just happened to be driving by and was hungry. I'm kind of a creature of habit when it comes to Chinese food, if I'm at a buffet I'll sample various things but if I'm in an actual restaurant or take-out I pretty much always get pork fried rice. I'm not exaggerating when I say theirs was the best I ever had. I'm not sure how most places make it, the pork just kind of looks like pieces of grey meat, almost like it was boiled, and tastes a lot better than it looks. But Dragon Express has Roast Pork Fried rice, and it's great and even looks appetizing. The pork actually looks like pork, like cubes of pink ham with a red layer from where it's been basted I guess. This isn't really a place I'd go sit down and eat with a group, that I ate there and it was fine for a quick meal. It's more of a take-out/delivery type place, there are a few tables you're free to eat at and they have drinks, but they just bring you a styrofoam plate and the only silverware is the plastic stuff. And those little plastic forks were kind of hard to eat with, I ended up eating my rice with one of the plastic spoons. So get it's not a fancy place but the food is great for taking home or delivery. At least I assume, like I said I've only been there once and ate one thing, but they made it better than any other place I've been to in 20 years or so. On a side note, once you finish you might go to the yogurt place next door. I've never been there but it's apparently great. While I was sitting in Dragon Express eating I kept seeing people head into someplace next door which I hadn't noticed on the way in. Nobody ever came in Dragon Express (though they were doing a lot of delivery business), but I saw like 20 people head next door. I thought it must be a bar or big restaurant, but I got outside and saw it was some small yogurt joint that was packed to the gills. I didn't know people got that excited about yogurt. read more

The atmosphere here is not much to be desired but my lunch was quite delish. Was impressed with the amount of food given for an $8 lunch menu. The egg drop soup had a nice, well developed flavor that only time can provide. The beef of my beef & broccli was tender and there was plenty. Only had one piece that was chewy...good odds for the amount provided. The broccoli was steaming hot and still chrisp. The carrots were a little uneven..some perfect, some overcooked. Likely due to different cut thickness. Rice was absolutely perfect. The only thing making me drop this review from 4 to 3 star is that the dining area is kind of dingy, in some places dirty. Way in need of a really good cleaning at least and a complete makeover should follow. Could imagine takeout would be excellent. Will probably return to try some other items on menu. read more

Note to self: do not try Chinese places that leave a pamphlet on your door. Now that we've established that... Ordered delivery from these guys, whose pamphlet says "Fast Delivery" in big, bold letters on the front. Whelp, 45 minutes for delivery isn't very fast. But that doesn't matter as much as the food... ...which was probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I hate to rip on restaurants and am usually generous with my stars, but seriously, this was about as unauthentic as you can get. Here's the breakdown of my order: 1. Hot and Sour Soup - I LOVE Hot and Sour Soup, but this was not Hot and Sour Soup. This is more like chicken noodle soup with a little Tabasco sauce. It had a bunch of chicken and celery (not common ingredients in this dish) and barely any mushrooms. It also did not have a single trace of sour. 2. Crab Rangoons - Again, not real Crab Rangoons. It was basically a bunch of cream cheese inside a crispy exterior, with no hint of any other flavor, much less crab. 3. Kung Pao Chicken - I thought Kung Pao Chicken was supposed to have those distinctive red chilis/peppers? Or at least some spice? This had neither and I stopped eating less than 1/5 of the way through it (an utter rarity for me, as I nearly always finish the whole thing). Way too many water chestnuts, not enough peanuts and the chicken tasted like it was from a can. It also came with "fried" rice. I say that because it was not fried rice. It was steamed rice with a ton of soy dumped on top. If you use your fork to grab some of the rice underneath, you'll see it's pure white. 4. Chicken Lo Mein - I got this for my wife and wanted to sample it, hoping for the best, but it was even worse than my Kung Pao Chicken. Just a flavorless mess. Again, don't like writing negative reviews, but this place is actually as expensive (or more) than most Chinese places I've been too, so the food should at least be as good. The only two positives from the experience were: my delivery guy was nice and the portions are big. But if you want good-tasting food, I seriously recommend you try someplace else. read more
