What a cute and interesting concept! Though, this seems like a tough job. It's like Coldstone's times ten, because not only are the guys mixing in toppings, but they're also smoothing out the cream and scraping it into cylinders. And, yes, all the ice cream makers were dudes. There was one girl behind the counter, but she was at the cash register. I know I would get tired of doing this real quick. I couldn't, for the life of me, decide what to get. I ended up getting the red bean matcha. It was fun to watch the whole process, and I got a video for my Snapchat to share later. When I got to the toppings area, I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted. Instead of having all the ingredients visible from line, a la Yogurtland, etc., they have them set up perpendicular to the customer. I had to lean over and squint my eyes to see things, and I didn't see everything. They guy had to describe a couple. I ended up with blueberries, blackberries, almonds, bear cookies, and chocolate straws. I wish I had gotten some strawberries, but I wasn't sure how they were going to fit in my cup. Back at the table, my blackberries were already falling off my ice cream roll peaks and rolling around, to my utter dismay. The flavor of the dessert was good, but the texture was very hard. We had difficulty scooping it out of the bowl. I'm glad that it stayed frozen and didn't melt everywhere, but it took us much longer to finish than necessary. I have been wanting to try the whole rolled ice cream fad since I've seen those Insta pictures pop up everywhere! I was delighted when I found out that this place opened up so close to home. When we got there it was packed! It took them forever to make my order but it was ok for me. It's definitely better than having to drive 30-60 min away for ice cream. I got the oreo flavor and it was good. They have a special promo right now since it just opened so the price is fair. They have unlimited toppings too! Heard about the opening of this place through a friend, and couldn't wait to try the very first rolling ice cream experience to come here to the Southbay! The place is located in the Pacific Plaza which is where Tea Station and Oko Cafe are also conveniently located. From the outside, it's easy to dismiss this place for an old ma and pop type of shop. It's fairly small inside, with ample seating. The order system is a little bit confusing when you walk in, because people tend to wait by the door to choose their ice cream toppings. First thing's first, you select what kind of ice cream flavor you want, and since it was grand opening special, your order is 20% off with UNLIMITED toppings! I chose the Cap'n Crunch special and my friends got the Strawberry Shawty which seemed to be the more popular item. Both flavors were amazingly good! The process can take around 10-15 minutes because the workers make your ice cream to order, and then from there you choose your toppings. Cup sizes are also pretty large for the regular price which is around $7! Topping selection: Small, but still very good choices! They had kiwis, strawberry, mango, whipped cream, condensed milk, pocky, Oreos, graham cracker, etc. Overall, I defintely plan on coming here again! Was very pleased with the flavor and experience overall. My only critique would be to change the layout of the menu. Ice cream flavors can be more descriptive, and it would've been helpful if it also mentioned how to go about ordering. FINALLY I hopped on the rolled ice cream bandwagon! I've been wanting to try this for so long now, but never wanted to drive out to 626 for it. It's about time we got rolled ice cream in this area! It's $6.50 for rolled ice cream + unlimited toppings. Because of their grand opening, we got 20% off! Plus, if you write a review, you get a free scoop of ice cream (totally taking advantage of that next time I come here hehe). I got Lost in Thailand, the Thai tea flavor. SO GOOD. They use real ingredients for their bases, without any artificial powders or flavors. You can tell right from the first bite - the ice cream was so decadent and creamy, and the Thai tea flavor was phenomenal. My friend got Oreo Land, which again, tasted great! They crush up a real Oreo as they make the rolls, and the emphasis on high quality is quite evident. Most of the toppings are fruits, which made me wish I had gotten a fruity base instead. I was hoping they would have mochi or boba as a topping, as I've seen it at other places, but they didn't here. Hopefully they'll add more toppings in the future! But the fruit was very fresh and still tasted good with the Thai tea ice cream. They even cut the strawberries right there, by hand. The portions are also quite large. The cups are about the size of Yogurtland cups, and it's completely filled with rolled ice cream. Next time, I could definitely share a cup with someone else! Now I admit I enjoy bad words in songs when my son isn't around but .... there is a time and place. I think maybe the manager or owner whoever should approve the music. There were other little kids coming in after school and I'm sure their parents were upset too. STAPLE in ice cream!!! What The ****?! OMG. It has never happened to me but it sadly did. I went to get an ice cream. My family members and I were sharing delicious ice cream and OMG OMG OMG my adult family member spitted out A STAPLE from the ice cream!!!!! Oh my gosh. We immediately stopped eating. The staple was not even in folded shape but just rectangular shape. How did that happen?! I notified the cashier and she refunded the amount and she threw away the staple but now I am so scared if I swallowed or any kids swallowed before adult member found the staple. Small sharp object can puncture organs and can become fatal. I plan to contact the owner or corporate office or some sort.... Yes, ice cream is good but I don't want to die so I will never go back.... I must mention that I cannot recommend family to visit there if a person understands English since the background music they play is EXPLICIT (many F*** word in songs and many other unsuitable words for ice cream shop). It is unnecessary for kids to be listening so I always tell kids to wait outside. Absolutely NOT family friendly ambience..... The workers were not very efficient, not to mention they stood around talking a lot before making the next order when there was clearly a long line of customers waiting. Gimmicky and a long wait. It took us 30-40 mins to get ice cream. Way too long and the place was not that crowded. The problem is that they only have three stations to make the ice cream. The process is slow and time consuming. The poor employees were trying to keep up with the rush but the inefficiency of the process coupled with just the overall new ness of the place turned a hopeful ice cream treat into a long arduous affair. Other customers were visibly upset as well. This was on a Sunday afternoon too. I can't imagine how long the wait will be on say a Friday night. The ice cream itself was ok. I came on a Wednesday night around 8pm. Even though all the employees looked tired and did not smile, I had a pleasant experience. It was interesting watching them make and roll up my "ice cream." There was one person taking orders, 3 people rolling ice cream, 1 person assigned to toppings while also calling out orders, and then 1 person who seemed to be the supervisor? So there was a total of 5 people working. I know the ice cream process will take a while, so service wouldn't be very quick.... but they should at least have someone coming out to the dining area to wipe tables because they were pretty dirty from other customers who previously ate there. I also suggest to have a water station somewhere too because I got really thirsty. Maybe a water pitcher with small cups. Another problem that I noticed is how orders are called out. Maybe you guys should have a small microphone to call out numbers instead of trying to shout it . Some customers don't hear it or are too busy talking with their friends, but I'm sure having a loud speaker/mic will catch their attention. Great concept. The line to pay was quick but the time it took to get my ice cream was way too long. There were 3 ice cream makers and the place was packed with people waiting for their order. At first glance I thought everyone was sitting at tables eating but it turned out they were waiting for their orders because no one had ice cream. Ambience: the place looks cold. So it's perfect for a ice cream spot. The music was so loud that I had to lean on to speak to my husband. I mean the music was really loud. Employees: they seemed nice and friendly. They all had on mix match shirts. I guess they have to wear black shirts and can have whatever writing on the shirt. I also noticed they didn't have on aprons or hair nets. The lady doing the toppings did wear gloves, yay. Ice cream: I ordered the cap n crunch. The ice cream was ok. It started to melt right away and it was cold outside. It was pretty cool to watch the staff make the ice cream as well. Overall, very solid presentation and very tasty ice cream. I'm glad I came by, but the card minimum is too high. Innovative take on the Cold Stone type technique. I'd say they win points in the creativity department but the ice-cream is definitely nothing spectacular. The give unlimited toppings (as much as you can fit in the cup) very similar to yogurt land in the sense that they have fruit, nuts, popping boba, condensed milk/caramel/ chocolate sauces, and cereals all for $6.50. They have a clear glass window that allows the customers to view their ice-cream being rolled into about 5 different rolls and placed into the cup. The only upsetting thing here is that you see all of the ice-cream that goes to waste and just chucked into a plastic bucket on the floor. You're just like "I COULD HAVE EATEN THAT!" I totally get the aesthetic presentation on this but still... they just tossed out perfectly good ice-cream!! It's definitely something interesting to try once but I don't think it's worth a return visit.
