Oh Donut King II, where have you been all my life? All this time I've been going to Rainbow donuts. only to find a very limited selection most of the time. After an Angels game, we decided to try someplace different since we didn't want to pay about $23 for a bucket of chocolate chip cookies at the Stadium. I was looking on Yelp and realized I'd never tried Donut King. So what the heck. My wife and I drove over there and even though you can't see the selection inside, when we asked the clerk about what donuts were available,the selection was amazing On top of that, the donuts were delicious. Much fresher than what we've been getting at Rainbow. We've decided the Donut King is going to be our donut place of choice from this day forward. I'm so glad we decided to branch out and try something new. I recommend DONUT King to anybody in the area. The clerk working the night shift was really helpful and pleasant. He even added a couple of freebies since they had run out of one of our choices. It's probably because it was late and a bit slow but he didn't have to do that and he just made a new return customer so props to him. Prices are very reasonable anyway. No gouging here. The area is a little dark and quiet after 9pm so you'd probably be better off doing the drive thru than standing at the window. It seemed like there was adequate parking in back if you're there during the day. We can hardly wait to return and try some different donut than what we ordered that night. One day my dad called asked for donuts, I already had a long day. Forgot my whole purse at home sat in traffic for hours etc. So I searched for a drive through donut shop and came across this one. As I arrived I noticed it was 2 different lines keep the traffic flow going which I love! The service was amazing and very patient with me because I didn't even know which donuts to choose. I was draw in by the big donut sign, but it was just sort of ok. The building and the exterior is kind of gross. It's also not appealing that you can't see the donuts on display. It's mostly a drive through, but the windows are so covered with signs you can't even see the people that work there. Just a hand coming through a hole to take money give donuts. I don't know why it took me so long to come here. An Asian American donut book and movie reminded me though. Open all the time with a drive thru and a giant donut up top, which is wonderful. They didn't have the biggest selection (mostly classics and no specialties) when we went in the evening. Apparently all the breakfast egg sandwiches come with bacon as a default and you can get even more meats. It was freshly made so it took a second. The sandwich was delicious on a croissant with melty cheese. Donuts came quickly. Raspberry jelly donut, blueberry and chocolate twist were all great. Milkshake was wonderful too. Love this place especially because it's drive thru and the only dessert spot in my area open late! I have gone here a few times and tried their donut holes and breakfast croissants which are pretty good. One time we went around 1 am and asked them what they had left or freshly made and they said butter bars. We went ahead and ordered a couple and they were the best!! They are best when warm and glazed. I love that sweet, salty, and warm combo. We were impressed! The times we have come here, we're always greeted with a great interaction. What is going on in the world where 3 donuts (regular donuts) cost more than $5. As a chef & pastry chef I do enormous amount of pastries on a daily and it's not like this place is buying rare chocolate or vanilla. It's all comprised of flour, milk, eggs, sugar, yeast or baking powder, butter, and salt. So again why so high? Was a time you could come to this place and purchase 3 donuts and a small coffee for that amount. This was a cool go to spot but I know of 3 other locations that are just as good if not better that prices doesn't fluctuates but maintain prices in a minimal fashion. read more

I've been here for as long as I can remember and this place doesn't disappoint. Last time I was there I got some donut holes I think the chocolate ones? Well, they were delicious for sure. Another time I got a glazed donut also delicious. But also the ice cream here is sooooooo good! Specifically, the bubble gum ice cream. It's enough for three people, but I admit that I ate that whole thing myself and enjoyed every minute of it. They have many donut choices, from the iconic glaze and maple bars to specialties like orange glaze cake and honey wheat cake. They also have ice cream in many flavors like strawberry cheesecake and matcha green tea. Ice cream can be made into sundaes and you can choose many different toppings like chocolate or caramel drizzle or sliced bananas or crushed Oreos. They also have muffins, croissants, cookies, fresh juices and smoothies, in addition to milk teas, iced coffees, and other drinks. Besides donuts, they offer breakfast and lunch options in the form of sandwiches and bagels. I've had the cheesy egg sandwich, which was delicious. I did take it home and added bacon to it for added pizzazz! The lunch options come with a bag of chips and a soda. Love that this Donut King 2 has not changed one bit. It's just as I remember from when I was a kid. The service is amazing. Everyone is polite and patient and always greets you with a smile. I've been hooked on their donuts and donut holes, but recently, the croissants are my new favorite. We'll, today I tried some amazing cookies! I got 4 cookies and I can not choose a favorite. I got Oatmeal, peanut butter banana, strawberry shortcake and chocolate mint. All I can say is OMG!!! So delicious and not once have I been disappointed! They're fresh, soft and the flavors really come through! I shared with my sister and she said that she liked the crunchy outside and chewy middle. These cookies won't disappoint. Sweet and so yummy. A hard working family is always in here on duty so I try my best and support a local shop. They are located on the corner of Western and Marine and it has a landmark huge donut on top of the location. Their donuts are made in the morning so it is best to come around that time. The later in the evening , they may not have any special donuts. They rotate the special donuts all the time so each day is a donut that may be off menu. Just ask. People come here for other things besides the donut. They also have breakfast sandwiches made to order, as well as sandwiches for under $10. They also have ice cream scoops, shakes and coffee drinks! Checked the reviews on Yelp and decided to try since it wasn't too far from where I was. *Classic glazed donut: I'm a classic glaze lover! So I only try a glazed donut at any donut shops. Glazed donut ($1.25) here was a good size and very fresh. Not like fluffy but mixed with fluffy and a bit of chewy texture which I like! *Iced green tea: I ordered a iced green tea with boba and it was only $2.50 (as of 6/7/22) but it was just okay.. boba was not good at all. It's far from chewy texture that I normally get from other boba places. It's a jasmine green tea but didn't taste fresh like other tea places. However for the size of it, I guess it's a good price when you want something to refresh your mouth. I didn't like the boba at all so I just drank the tea. *Drive through and Walk up window only: I wish I can see their entire donuts in stock and presentation but there's only Drive through and walk up window. The day I went, there's some cars were at the walk up window so I was very confused which window I needed to go. They have the best fresh donuts all day. I love there Ham and cheese croissants, perfectly cooked with that flacky crust. I'm telling yah the best. Pulled up to the window and I kid you not the woman working the counter was on a phone call and just kind of blended "can I help you?" into her sentence to the person on the phone. After a moment or two she actually bothered to look at me, and I asked for 1 maple bar 1 chocolate bar 1 plain cake 1 devil's food She repeated the order back correctly to me and slid away from the window. She returned in less than a minute and thrust a bag toward me while saying "3 dollars," and I gave her a ten and looked inside the bag while she got my change. 1 maple bar 1 devil's food That's it. She returned with my change and as soon as it was in my hand she turned to attend to a customer at the other window. I paused, processing what just happened. Should I wait until she notices I'm still there and ask her to complete my order? How annoyed/angry should I be? Especially since she repeated the order back to me and -still- got it wrong? In the end I just drove away, perplexed, annoyed, and disappointed that yet another place with shitty customer service is on my mental blacklist. Happy New year. Too bad it's not new donuts. I bought three via drive through window. On the road back home, I realized there was mold on the bottom of each donut. My first time here, can't believe I've never tried it. Super convenient as a drive thru, and the person at the window was efficient and helpful. We got a glazed cinnamon bun, chocolate old-fashioned, and an apple fritter. When I got home, I was surprised that she had given us an extra crumb cake donut! What a great surprise! The donuts were decent and fit the craving. I wish the apple fritter was a bit crispier, but it had lots of apple chunks in it and was tasty. The other day I tried the strawberry cheesecake shake with EXTRA boba & was in heaven as well. All their shakes are amazing. I love their ice cream. Their donuts & coffee never disappoint.
