Oh Donut King II, where have you been all my life? All this time I've been going to Rainbow donuts…read more only to find a very limited selection most of the time. After an Angels game, we decided to try someplace different since we didn't want to pay about $23 for a bucket of chocolate chip cookies at the Stadium. I was looking on Yelp and realized I'd never tried Donut King. So what the heck. My wife and I drove over there and even though you can't see the selection inside, when we asked the clerk about what donuts were available, the selection was amazing On top of that, the donuts were delicious. Much fresher than what we've been getting at Rainbow. We've decided the Donut King is going to be our donut place of choice from this day forward. I'm so glad we decided to branch out and try something new. I recommend DONUT King to anybody in the area. The clerk working the night shift was really helpful and pleasant. He even added a couple of freebies since they had run out of one of our choices. It's probably because it was late and a bit slow but he didn't have to do that and he just made a new return customer so props to him. Prices are very reasonable anyway. No gouging here. The area is a little dark and quiet after 9pm so you'd probably be better off doing the drive thru than standing at the window. It seemed like there was adequate parking in back if you're there during the day. We can hardly wait to return and try some different donut than what we ordered that night. Definitely an independent shop that deserves support from the community.

Tried their coconut rose milk tea and it was too sweet. Do not recommend without making adjustments…read more(if possible). Very small parking lot and is also a drive thru.

Review #986 2026-056…read more Food Order: Boston Cream $3.95 Butter Pistachio $4.95 Cookies & Cream $3.95 Crème Brûlée $4.95 Lemon Poppyseed $3.95 Raspberry Ring $3.95 Another one bites the dust... bada dum dum dum... During my freebies birthday run yesterday, I was planning on going to Old Ferry Donut after picking up a boba next door, only to find the shop closed. \(`0´)/ Known for unique flavors & vibrant retro-pop 70s branding (cute hamster mascot with bold orange & brilliant blue colors; it's featured on 2-/4-donut boxes), this Korean-inspired premium donut shop originated in Seoul a decade ago before expanding to several S. CA locations, opening in Torrance a couple of years ago. OFD's donuts are popular for its rich creams & chewy dough; Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée are just 2 of their signature flavors. I was going through a donut phase when I initially stopped by Old Ferry Donut. Large windows let lots of light in, & once you step across the threshold, you're hit with a strong K-pop vibe & loud music. They even had a collab with SEVENTEEN last fall during their tour with 2 flavors: Marble Strawberry & Blue Coconut! Unlike the regular mom & pop's or commercialized donut shops, they don't offer a discounted 1/2 or full dozen box. After asking what's their most popular picks, I chose Butter Pistachio & Crème Brûlée, & added Lemon Poppyseed & Raspberry Ring for myself, Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream for the kiddos. Service was alright... I didn't need a sales pitch, but would like some info on the donuts to make an informed decision since they're at a premium price even though they're not "freshly made" (every hour or less) like SD&C just down the street. The Butter Pistachio is a major hit... fluffy & light, a slightly chewy yeasty donut stuffed with a mildly sweet whipped pistachio cream filling & topped with a salty-sweet buttery streusel... how can you not be addicted? And totally worth it! Crème Brûlée is also popular for its delicate, crackly caramelized sugar crust & airy brioche dough that's filled with a rich vanilla custard. Good flavor, but maybe on the older side? Since it's been sitting for awhile, it lost that fresh fluffy texture & was kinda dry. I really liked the Lemon Poppyseed; it's right up there with Butter Pistachio. The lemon glaze is just the right amount of sweet & tart, & the donut was fresh & fluffy! The Raspberry Ring is pretty good, matching that sweet & tart of Lemon Poppyseed, but I like the citrus zing of the latter more. What's different is the former has a raspberry jam filling in addition to a glaze & the latter is just a yeast donut with fruity glaze. Kids didn't say much about Cookies & Cream & Boston Cream... I figure you can't go wrong with these flavors. The filling might have been a bit much as I saw the cream oozing out of the donut & onto my LO's face & shirt. His sister was slightly better at containing the custard blob. LOL With premium prices, It's debatable if Old Ferry's donuts are worth it... quality, freshness, & size. Hmmm... I like them & their creative flavors, but they're a tad too sweet & not as "fresh" in comparison to SD&C. Sad to see Old Ferry Donut permanently gone from the South Bay, but they still have locations in San Gabriel & Buena Park if you're willing to take a drive. Recommended: Boston Cream $3.95 Butter Pistachio $4.95 Cookies & Cream $3.95 Crème Brûlée $4.95 Lemon Poppyseed $3.95 Raspberry Ring $3.95

Old Ferry Donut = quick carb win…read more Parking: Easy in the plaza. Vibe: Cute, playful, and totally Instagram-ready--donut display, merch wall, stickered mirrors. Order: Classic glazed--light, not too sweet, filling. Service: Sweet and efficient. Good for: Grab-and-go (seating mostly empty). Why it's trending: Fun branding + community energy = viral charm. Bottom line: Perfect stop if you're nearby and need a donut with personality.

Not busy at all on a Friday afternoon!…read more Was able to find parking, walk, order and receive my order all in about 10 minutes. Got an apple fritter (only available on Fridays) and a Vietnamese iced coffee! The person who helped me was kind and quick. They informed me that if you download their app you get a free donut and coffee on your next visit! Inside is quite cramped and there is only 2 tables outside for seating so keep that in mind if you plan to stay here to enjoy your doughnuts. Apple Fritter was great! Not as crispy as I normally like but the inside was very fluffy and warm, not too sweet. 9/10 Vietnamese Iced Coffee was okay, stronger than I personally like but it's still good. 7/10 Would happily come back to try other donuts and drinks :)

So after a whirlwind of a day 1 on my 36 hr foodie trip to SoCal with my mother and 2 siblings-we…read moredecided to start Day 2 at a donut shop my brother had been telling me for weeks about this spot that was the best donut shop he has ever been-to which I always just rolled my eyes thinking "yeah right".Ive been to places-I've visited some of the best donuts shops in America-I always make it a point to find the best donut shops when I go to various cities within my travels-so yeah I didn't take his claim too seriously but I was definitely open to check it out-we headed to Sidecar Doughnuts in Manhattan Beach as soon as we woke up. This shop is located in a multi tenant shopping mall on N Sepulveda Blvd-so parking is plentiful-a true breeze. When we got in the shop I could tell this was not your everyday small town donut shop-there was a certain elegance to the design, the menu, the presentation and the donuts themselves. I also liked that they had a sampler donut out so a newbie customer like myself could try out their treats before deciding what to go with. These donuts aren't cheap by any means-they are going to cost you anywhere from $4.50 to $6.00 each-but this is one of those occasions where you truly get what you pay for-higher quality donuts come with higher prices and they are worth every penny. After a quick look at their impressive unique offerings we decided to go with the following donuts. Huckleberry-This donut was served warm and had a clean authentic flavor of huckleberry glaze with little bits of huckleberry infused-nothing artificial here-a true standout of a donut-9.3/10.0 item Butter and Salt-This may be their flagship donut, though huckleberry may give it a run for its money-This is a must try-great twist between sweet and salt with a light crisp exterior and super soft inside-this one surprised me-truly addictive with it's simplicity -8.9/10.0 item Magic Charm-This truly was Lucky Charms in donut form-talk about nostalgia in a donut-the glaze offers the milk flavor and the cereal toppings come in hard with the Lucky Charms topping-awesome trip down memory lane with this donut-8.7/10.0 item This trip these were the 3 I tried-others in the family tried others but I didn't get a chance to try em-so will leave rating those for next time. In closing-I hate to admit this, but I think my personal " Donut Wars" are over-in my opinion Sidecar Doughnuts is the best donut shop around and if you ever find yourself in the area and get a chance to try out their treats-Do It-In fact change your plans to get there-it's so worth it. PS-I wonder what they could do if they tried their hand at a maple bar one day.....
