The food was served on shared platters, but the portions were distributed unevenly. One section of our table was expected to share a single platter among eight people, while the other section received two. I brought this up several times before our server finally corrected it. Getting enough food for the people paying for the menu should not require repeated requests. The drink service made the evening even more frustrating. The restaurant was loud, and when someone at the table suggested ordering shots, the server would bring entire platters of tequila shots without confirming how many people wanted one or which tequila they wanted. I repeatedly asked him to stop bringing shots without checking with us first, yet it continued. When the bill arrived, the shots were far more expensive than expected, they were at more shots than ordered and we had also been charged for additional people who were not in our group. Our server initially told me there was nothing he could do. When I raised the issue with the manager, I was met with attitude rather than a willingness to resolve an obvious billing problem. She eventually corrected the headcount, but only after considerable back and forth. She only deducted five shots out of the 25 she charged us for, mind you most of our group was not drinking or only ordered a margarita. There was also an automatic 20% gratuity, which I understand for a large party, plus an additional 3% credit card fee. After spending the evening repeatedly addressing service and billing issues, that extra CC fee felt like the final insult. Unfortunately, the food offered no redeeming quality. It tasted soggy, excessively salty, and far from fresh. We came to enjoy an evening together. Instead, I spent much of it managing portions, trying to stop unconfirmed drink orders, and disputing the bill. I made reservations for 12:30pm on a Saturday through Open Table. At 12:16, I received a text that our table was ready and a request to respond if I was on my way. The street was under a bit of construction, so we opted to do valet which was $15 for two hours. When I arrived, I let the hostess know I was there for the Yelp event, and she asked me if I was planning to order food as well. I said yes, and she said okay because otherwise she'd have us sit in the bar. It was really nice to see that bar option for just the Community Experience. We were immediately seated and Patrick came to greet us and noted that we were there for the Yelp event. He told us we could choose the sangria so we opted for his two recommendations, Telefèric Sangria and Barceloneta Sangria. I was very surprised to see how large these glasses were, and I enjoyed the Telefèric Sangria the most. Something about the smell of the cinnamon every time I took a drink was so relaxing. Next, we placed an order for Crab Croquetas, Prime Wellington, and the October special Paella de Carne. Patrick also reminded us that our Yelp event came with the Patatas Bravas. The two appetizers came out within 5 minutes. We were shocked how quickly they came out, but they were perfect. They were freshly fried and crispy. I was intimated by the photos of the Patatas Bravas I saw online, because it looked like it would be heavy and spicy, but they weren't at all. The potatoes were a good size (a two biter for me), and maintained a crisp although it has sauce on top. The Crab Croquetas were really fun as well. It looked like crispy rice, but once you bite into it it was soft and the tuna on top complimented the crab croquetas for a nice balance. About 25 minutes later our Paella and Wellington arrived. My standout was the pork belly on the paella. It was so flavorful, and the texture had the right amount of firm and soft at the same time. The wellington was also delicious. The pastry on the outside was delicate and flakey, while the short ribs were tender. These two dishes ended up going well together because it was almost as if the wellington was our main, and then the paella was our side. We asked Patrick if he thought it was too much and he said it was a good amount. I'm glad he said that because it ended up being the perfect amount of food. In terms of service- Patrick was the star of the show, but occasionally Bruce would come check in on us. There was another man, wearing black, who would often come and clear our dirty plates and get us fresh ones. He'd also clear our dishes we had finished very quickly. All three of them were on top of it with the service. Overall, our bill ended up running us $126 after the Yelp items were comped, and tax was applied. This was well worth it for the quality of food, and service we received. It's a nice date spot that doesn't feel overcrowded, and doesn't feel too casual or too fancy. I'd definitely go back.

The menu is very meat-heavy, so having something light and fresh balances everything out. The oxtail ragu is our go-to at Gabi James. We have ordered it every time we've gone because it is a standout dish. The pasta has a nice crisp, and the oxtail has such a rich flavor. The bonus is that it tastes great the next day as well!
