    Undamaged track before the "repair".
    Apple W.

I had an incident that resulted in a corner of my garage door to come off the rails. I contacted a few handyman services in my area -- my 1st mistake! Cuong from NCConstruction LLC offered $150 for an attempt to fix the problem and $300 if they were able to fix it. After trying for 90 minutes, they were unable to fix it. The reason for this review is that they ended up causing additional damage to my garage track in their attempts to fix the original problem. I gave them their space while they were working, so I did not notice the new damage until the next day. This extremely noticeable damage could have been avoided if they were mindful and knowledgeable while performing the task. I have pictures taken on the same day showing the track was straight with no damage before Cuong arrived. I essentially paid him $150 to make the situation worse. The track is now bent in countless spots, and it cost me an additional $275 for a garage door professional to replace it. Because the track was being "abused" by the wrong hands, the center hinge became loose and the garage door professional (who came after Cuong) had to move the hinge to a new spot. Now I also have another new problem -- a big hole by the track.

Cuong came out to do a remodel of the kitchen in my condo. He installed drywall, tiled the kitchen and bathroom. The quality, communication and dedication to detail is phenomenal and he treats his customers fairly. He worked with our timeline and delivered everything on time. He kindly allowed us to adjust minor things as the project underway, which was amazing as it allowed us to build out the space as we wanted to.

Cuong and Joseph did such a great job on our master bathroom remodel (see before and after photos). It was tough finding a reliable contractor, but Cuong was super responsive, professional, and easy to communicate with. They were very respectful of our house while my husband and I were working from home (putting up a zipwall, protecting our carpet and walkways, wearing masks, shutting doors when going in/out of house, cleaning/vacuuming, respectfully getting our attention when needed, etc.) The remodel went along as planned, however I caused a delay for him (the shower door I ordered did not come on time), but he was flexible with me to schedule time to finish up, which was greatly appreciated. Side story - other contractors we were getting bids from were telling me I'd need to get a custom shower pan because my current shower pan measurement appeared to be ~40/41 inches. However, Cuong was honest with me and said a standard 42in pan will fit because the measurement needs to be from stud to stud. I'm extremely grateful for that.

Cuong was a pleasant professional individual to do business with. Me and wife needed help with our first renovation with our first home and he was able to detail what was needed and what he could do to assist clearly and calmly. He works effectively and always makes sure to communicate and ask for permission before doing something that might require our opinion. I can't suggest him enough.

Cuong and his team did an amazing job on our home. We wanted to install solar panels and there was an issue with the roof structure that required reinforcements. The structural engineer plans were implemented by Cuong and his team in just a week and the engineer reviewed the work and was very impressed by the quality of the work. Cuong was very responsive, he might not reply right away at times because he might be busy working, but he made sure he answered my questions every day. His pricing was very straightforward and fair. Other contractors seems to have a very bloated structure with estimators and staff to answer the phone all the time but their prices are very high. If you want fair pricing and a reliable contractor do not hesitate to contact Cuong. I'd definitely hire him again for future projects in our home

    NCCONSTRUCTION Bathroom Remodel 2020
    Ekong I.

I started planning a major bathroom remodel in 2019. I felt pretty nervous about it because all of my previous dealings with contractors had been terrible. I started on Yelp and had about 10 different 5-star Contractors come by to give me an estimate on my project. Cost was an important factor in my decision, but communication and follow up was even more important. I ended up with estimates ranging from $6,000 to $30,000. (the most expensive ones required all materials to be purchased through them). When I met Cuong I immediately felt at ease about my project. He listened, answered my many questions, and seemed confident. He was also incredibly polite. He sent the estimate the next day...this stage is where some contractors go missing. His estimate was not the cheapest, but it was very affordable. We didn't start the project until July 2020. Cuong had a small and consistent team that followed Covid guidelines to keep us safe. Cuong stuck pretty close to the estimate despite some of the crazy challenges my bathroom through at him. I also added several more requests which he didn't mind. (obviously I paid for the extra requests) He was great about checking in with me on certain details throughout the project. His contract felt fair and I never felt like money was his priority over my project. I'm a stickler for details and so is Cuong, he definitely has pride in his work. Overall we loved working with Cuong and we can't wait to work with him again. Our bathroom turned out amazing.

I reached out to Cuong for help building framing and installing a barn door. He was communicative throughout the process, including coming on site for an estimate. The space was abnormal and he proposed a great solution to making our vision come to life. He and his teammate worked meticulously to build the new framing and drywall, and install the barn door. When they encountered a minor issue with the door support, they were able to problem solve to ensure the highest quality. I'm incredibly happy with the finished product and recommend them for future projects.

    1. Our chimney on the west side before work.

We found NCConstruction via Yelp. We wanted to paint part of our chimney, only the west side (see picture 1). We contacted 4 different companies. Cuong from NCConstruction responded in a timely manner and with a reasonable quote. Cuong pointed out the dried caulk and rotted board on other sides of our chimney. We ended up opting to replace some, repair some, scrape, caulk, prime and paint my whole chimney (see pictures 2,3,6 and 7). Cuong and T had to work under a time and budget constraint because we had a roof replacement scheduled the next week. It rained very heavily the day after Cuong and T caulked. I pointed out some spots that I was concern. Cuong examined and came up with a solution that did not delay the project or overrun our budget. Our chimney hadn't looked this good in a decade (see pictures 4 and 8). Two Kudos to NCConstruction: 1. T took a wet-dry vac to cleanup my yard at the end of the repair day and a hose to spray my walkway at the end of the paint day. 2. Cuong asked my neighbor's permission to go to his backyard to clean up some paint scrape debris. We are happy with the service that NCConstruction provided.

NCConstruction remodeled my brothers bathroom & did a great job. The price we agreed on in the beginning, was the same at the end of the project. In my experience, it's not always that way with contractors. Very trustworthy company & easy to work with.

From the beginning, Eric and Cole were very responsive & helpful in assisting us with material and color selections and suggested products with superior quality & durability while staying within our budget. After months of shopping around, we decided to have David's team install LVP, carpet and handle all our millwork and casings which included complicated compound angles on our staircase. Their workmanship and attention to detail was very professional and more than met our picky expectations. The old-school honesty and integrity of everyone on David's team was truly refreshing. Eric managed our project and kept it on-time and on-budget. His attention to communication was impressive & timely even at 10pm at night and on weekends. We requested a few change orders along the way and they were charged at straight time and materials without the extra mark-ups most contractors tack on. Adrian was our onsite supervisor and was there every minute of every day. The flooring lead, Sergey and the carpet lead, Hector kept me informed and made suggestions that improved our end result. Over the last 42 years our family has built a number of custom homes and the experience with David's flooring was by far the best and was actually enjoyable. We would/will definitely use Eric and his team again and highly recommend them.

As a homeowner, I couldn't be happier with the experience and highly recommend them. Vitaliy was excellent to work with throughout the process. He communicated openly about costs, risks, and timelines. His initial quote was the most thorough and detailed among all the bids we received (e.g. including a potential subfloor leveling cost range upfront to avoid surprises later on). He was also open to incorporating a written addendum I provided alongside the standard contract so that all project expectations were clearly documented from the start. When a supplier mistake from Shaw Floors delayed materials and forced my family into a longer Airbnb stay, Vitaliy stepped up and helped cover the ~$1,500 extra cost. That meant a lot to us. The crew treated our home with respect, the floors look beautiful, and throughout the project I felt I could truly trust Vitaliy and David's Flooring. I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to other homeowners for flooring work.

Before moving forward, I asked several reasonable clarification questions about what was included in the quote, such as removal/disposal, templating, fabrication, delivery, plumbing or appliance reconnection, timeline, etc which was unclear in the quote. Instead of answering those questions, Tom responded in a dismissive and unprofessional way, asking whether I had read the estimate or looked at their website, and saying I could call him if I was "serious about doing business" with them. As a customer, I believe it is completely normal to ask detailed questions before hiring a contractor, especially for a home project involving cost, materials, and installation details. The lack of clear answers and the tone of the response made me lose confidence in moving forward with this company. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company if you expect clear communication and respectful customer service.

TASK: Remove existing backsplash and countertop and install a new backsplash and countertop…read more PROBLEM 1: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE COUNTERTOPS. Nothing was covered. All contents of the drawers were contaminated by demolition materials. In addition, during the demolition, the underlayment of the countertops was damaged. As stated in the contract, this was not to be addressed by Granite and Marble Specialists (GMS). Once the island countertop was removed, you could see that a heavy layer of glue remained on the underlay. The installers said that that was not their responsibility. They installed the countertop over the uneven underlayment of the residual glue. This meant that there were up to 1/2 inch gaps between the counter and the underlayment, stretching a span of 108.5 inches. Over time, this will lead to instability and breakage of the stone. The installers forged ahead and installed the new countertop independent of the gaps. The installers were adamant that they had installed the island countertop to level. RESULT: We had to remove the new countertop and have the surface sanded to level before having them reinstall the countertop. PROBLEM 2: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE BLACKSPLASH AFTER DEMOLITION. This meant that it was the homeowner's responsibility to install drywall and to make sure that the backsplash was level. The backsplash was 1.5 inches unlevel from one end of the backsplash to the other. Thus, in addition to the provision of drywall because the existing drywall was damaged during demolition, we had to shim the drywall to ensure the backsplash was level for the backsplash installation. RESULT: We had to go buy wood, cut it to the specific dimensions and install the new underlayment for the backsplash. IN SUM: GMS provided what the contract stated, an installed countertop and backsplash. It was not stated in the contract that it be level or that it be level to the degree that it was level prior to the new installation. The installers showed it to be level because the countertop was 108.5 inches long X 46 inches wide X 3cm deep. So, BEWARE. If this is the type of installation you are looking for, this is the organization for you.
