My wife and I chose to work with Granite & Marble Specialties for our new countertop installation after visiting with several granite countertop contractors. We were initially drawn to the large variety of stone in their warehouse. While the selection of stone lured us in, the customer service, fabrication, and installation were all top notch and have made us customers for life! My wife and I are exceedingly pleased with the final outcome and know we'll be well supported should we have any needs down the road. We highly recommend Granite & Marble Specialties! read more

Slow to return calls, after two weeks finally got an estimate, asked if they offered a veterans discount, never heard from them again. Yeah for them. read more

TASK: Remove existing backsplash and countertop and install a new backsplash and countertop. PROBLEM 1: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE COUNTERTOPS. Nothing was covered. All contents of the drawers were contaminated by demolition materials. In addition, during the demolition, the underlayment of the countertops was damaged. As stated in the contract, this was not to be addressed by Granite and Marble Specialists (GMS). Once the island countertop was removed, you could see that a heavy layer of glue remained on the underlay. The installers said that that was not their responsibility. They installed the countertop over the uneven underlayment of the residual glue. This meant that there were up to 1/2 inch gaps between the counter and the underlayment, stretching a span of 108.5 inches. Over time, this will lead to instability and breakage of the stone. The installers forged ahead and installed the new countertop independent of the gaps. The installers were adamant that they had installed the island countertop to level. RESULT: We had to remove the new countertop and have the surface sanded to level before having them reinstall the countertop. PROBLEM 2: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE BLACKSPLASH AFTER DEMOLITION. This meant that it was the homeowner's responsibility to install drywall and to make sure that the backsplash was level. The backsplash was 1.5 inches unlevel from one end of the backsplash to the other. Thus, in addition to the provision of drywall because the existing drywall was damaged during demolition, we had to shim the drywall to ensure the backsplash was level for the backsplash installation. RESULT: We had to go buy wood, cut it to the specific dimensions and install the new underlayment for the backsplash. IN SUM: GMS provided what the contract stated, an installed countertop and backsplash. It was not stated in the contract that it be level or that it be level to the degree that it was level prior to the new installation. The installers showed it to be level because the countertop was 108.5 inches long X 46 inches wide X 3cm deep. So, BEWARE. If this is the type of installation you are looking for, this is the organization for you. read more

Incredibly beautiful granite countertops! Professionally cut to blend seams including the edges to the counters. The installers worked together quickly as a team to lift and install the counters. The final trim and polish of the stone was completed onsite. My house was left clean with only a small nick to an MDF moulding at my door (to be expected with heavy stone.) Highly recommend them! read more

I had such a good, human, helpful and pain free experience working with Granite and Marble Specialties. They went above and beyond in helping me understand what I wanted, really listening and following up to make sure we had a good plan, providing me advise on how to keep costs low. The entire process from finding my stone to installation was maybe 3 weeks? Very reasonable. I had the pleasure of working with Nayyef, who's design eye made me feel confident that my vision was understood. He helped me think through elements that I hadn't thought of. I wish I had more counters to put in so I could work with him again. Everyone I worked with was extremely professional, kind and honest. I've had struggles in renovation because I sometimes feel yanked around or taken advantage of, but not here. Their team make me feel respected and confident in my decisions. read more

I had a granite bathroom countertop installed yesterday. This is a great company to work with start to finish.Their work is top notch and the product in the end is beautiful. The installation crew that came yesterday was polite and covered my floors with a tarp from the front door up 2 flights of stairs to the bathroom. They had to carry a 6ft long piece of granite up 2 flights of stairs and they were so careful not to nick a wall or anything. I like being able to pick out the granite at their showroom or in this case a picked out a piece in their remanent yard and they come out and measure and then do their on mill work at the warehouse. This is the 3rd time I've used them for granite so if you want quality and good customer service this is the place to go. read more

My biggest mistake was not hiring this company first. After a big box brand left my kitchen wrecked, I made contact with Selene at G&M Specialties and she worked diligently with me to get my beautiful new countertops installed. She was patient and extremely knowledgeable about this work and always had my wants and needs as her focus rather than up-selling. She was on site and involved each step of the way working with the measurer and installers addressing every detail throughout the process. The installers did an amazing job and my kitchen is looking a hundred times better. Now I'm crossing my fingers and waiting for big box to fix my cabinets. I should have gone to Selene first. Lesson learned. read more

I needed an emergency repair to my kitchen sink and they responded really fast, so for that I'll rate them higher, but after having to clean up after the two non English speaking gentlemen and having to re do one of the brackets he installed wrong and not being told the repairs were going to be performed the way they were, I give 1 star. I think I know why the other 3 companies were too busy to respond quickly, because they are up front and know what they're doing. I think Granite & Marble Specialties are probably good for installation of new house builds, but using them to make what you have better... I think not read more

Biggest issues were poor customer support, poor interdepartmental communication between their teams, and poor plumbing. When management was alerted to issue with plumber, they apologized, were "embarrassed" and said they would speak with the plumber and follow up with me to make things better. Numerous attempts to discuss, no response. Don't pay in full until the work is completed (even if plumber is currently completing the last steps). One team provides great ideas, which the other team is unable to apply. Best part is, you learn this while the installation is underway. Also, review your estimates closely. I found them charging two different prices for the same process. It was addressed and corrected right away. read more

I have hired Granite and Marble Specialties as a repeat customer for two major jobs including two separate kitchen areas , and a two bathrooms. We wanted to update our old countertops in our Gig Harbor house to something that would really look and feel luxurious and high-end, while still staying on a conservative budget and definitely wanting to avoid being overcharged or be taken financially advantage of , or just disappointed or delayed . I do some DIY to save money on remodeling our house myself too, and their exceptional representative Selene enthusiastically and kindly worked with my specific wishes and objectives and made suggestions on areas to help me keep costs down such as my own demo, and still have a phenomenal, professional result, which I greatly appreciated ! I've gotten lots of quotes from contractors lately and have taken several trips to visit vendors in the area on various things, including quartz and marble and I am so glad that I happened upon this particular business in my online searching --which drew me in based on their high customer reviews and also because they seemed to have the greatest and superior selection of remnants available for me to browse through online and in person at their Kent location ( they really have an awesome selection !!) All in all, this company did exactly what it said they would, was honorable, reliable, and went above and beyond my expectations in every way really. My impression is that this is a well-run local company that has deservedly grown in its success and solid reputation over the years, not only because of its superior product selection and warehouse's ability to tackle a variety of big and small residential and commercial jobs, but enjoys its great reputation largely due to the outstanding asset of a caring, dedicated team of individuals who work there . I've seen this is not only with my fabulous consultant Selene , but also the equally hard working, friendly fabrication and installation team. I've had a front row opportunity twice now to watch them work at my house, and I've observed true dedication and commitment to achieving an excellent result and an adherence to raising the bar and a level of pride in work that you don't see often anymore. Their team's lead installer , Adrien, is a master of his craft and I watched him problem-solve and make challenging things work twice now , in a way that was both a relief as a customer to know something is being handled carefully, and truly just a pleasure to watch someone do their job so well ! When I initially contacted Granite and Marble Specialties I didn't know what to expect, never having re-done countertops before , and my consultant Selene came to my home and looked at my project --she was simply fantastic and took me under her wing right from the start---enthusiastic, friendly, very knowledgeable and offered a perfect balance of making professional suggestions and giving advice while patiently answering all my questions and consistently demonstrating that I was her highest priority as a client, while still not being pushy or pressuring me at all, something which I really appreciated ! She did everything she said she would , in a very timely manner on schedule, moving at whatever pace I preferred as the customer. She promptly provided estimates, checked on and managed things brilliantly , even personally searched the area for materials that I would be most thrilled with (we wanted a luxurious coastal look !) and really went the extra mile ( literally!) to travel and be on-site to my house to be hands on managing the work, or to bring me product samples so that I wouldn't be inconvenienced at all. She even bought her team (and me!) lunch during the install. Her commitment and genuine care for her customers and their individual satisfaction really shines through, she's a treasure! If I could compare it to anything , it would be like shopping at Nordstroms or a great concierge experience at the Four Seasons, while still on a Costco budget! My family is really wowed by our final results , and we have gotten high compliments and oohs and awes by friends and neighbors who have seen the updates . I would wholeheartedly recommend Granite and Marble Specialties to anyone in the Seattle and Tacoma area who is looking for a great customer experience and desires to be listened to , respected, and given a reasonable price...and to definitely ask for Selene ! read more

My wife and I were thoroughly pleased with the entire experience we had at Granite and Marble Specialties. We were referred to them by friends who spoke highly of the company. We visited the Kent location. Emily, our sales rep, was knowledgeable, helpful and provided us with quick and accurate information. As the process unfolded, we needed to make some adjustments (Our plans changed as is our project evolved.) Emily was "Johnny on the spot" in facilitating the changes. If she was unable to meet us when we came in, she had a co worker queued up and ready to take care us. Each phase of their process was on time and done by extremely competent people. Eddie and the rest of the installation crew knew their business. There were specific challenges to installing our island top. Eddie and company took time to formulate the best plan of attack before skillfully executing it. A few weeks after the install, we did have a dime size chip (which was saved for the repair). We contacted Emily who had a repair guy out in short order. The repair took just a few minutes and was so well done, we couldn't tell you exactly where the chip was. Needless to say, we highly recommend Granite and Marble Specialties. Tad and Caren read more

We've built a 1,300 SF addition to our home including a kitchen and two bathrooms. For these, we decided to go with Quartz and looked around to find a local countertop shop. Building the 1,300 SF addition has been quite a learning experience, mostly because contractors tend to be unreliable and unless every single detail is managed by you, the owner, it just doesn't get done right. Having had such such a poor experience with the general contractor, drywall subcontractors, and so on, I was extremely nervous and cautious about picking the right counter top company to go with. Luckily, I came across Granite & Marble Specialties on the web. What attracted me to them was that they appeared to be very professional and use cutting edge technology to do their work. We visited GMS and worked with Connie who helped us pick the perfect counter top for us, given our color scheme, cabinets, and other materials. I loved the fact that she had a lot of design experience and could guide given our preferences. When Eugene came to make the template, he used some sort of a 3-d mapping machine which took very precise measurements of our walls. I didn't realize that even in brand new constructions, it's common to have waves and imperfections in the walls. A few days later, when the counter tops arrives for installation, I was stunned at how perfectly they fit the kitchen and bathrooms. It was literally millimeter precision. I've never seen work this precise. I found out that they use the 3-d mapping technology with robotic cutting machines that create the absolute perfect fit, specifically designed for your kitchen. Suffice is to say, I'm incredibly happy with the quality of their work, the professionalism and helpfulness, and the speed at which everything was done. Without a doubt, I'd recommend Granite & Marble Specialties to all my friends and family. read more

We ordered a table from a big store in October of last year. The marble top for that table kept arriving broken. After waiting for 5 months, we decided to look locally for a top. We found these guys about a month ago, and now our table is complete. They have been responsive and honest the whole way through. From the sales lady at the showroom, to the scheduling team, to the install guys, they all wanted us to have the best quality finish. They even recommended we get a support made for our stone so it would be less likely to break in the future. They didn't just care that their end was good, they wanted to make sure we would be happy with the table long term. Thanks guys! read more
