Find the right atmosphere, service, as well as quality food is a staple at Karavan Restaurant…read more My friend and I went and tried Karavan and we were blown alway by all the aspects of it. The food was superb! Waiting for high quality and freshly made food is worth every bite. I will say we highly recommend the eggplant salad, strawberry ginger tea, and the honey cake! The eggplant salad is perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and what we would call a flavor bomb of a sauce! The service was great our waiter Alybek knew the entire menu and offered recommendations. We really could tell how much he loved the food as well! The ambiance was great really make us feel like we were in a different world once we entered and sat down. Overall, Karavan Restauant is worth a visit as the food, service and ambiance are unlike any other central Asian/European food in the Chicagoland area. You won't be disappointed!

We had boorsok for our appetizer, fried dough bites that reminded me of funnel cake without sugar, and there were a lot! I had the strawberry mojito drink, and it was fantastic, really tasting of fresh fruit with many mint leaves inside. The khachapuri was extraordinary. They do imeruli style, round and similar to a pizza, the crust beautifully blistered and the cheese thick with a wonderful pull. One of my friends hadn't had khachapuri before and is now a convert. We also had boso lagman, with hand-pulled noodles and beef, and big manty dumplings with flavorful meatballs inside. I requested we get a slice of honey cake, too, and that was a perfect finish to the meal. Sweet but not overkill, and really tasted like honey, graham crackers, and cream. I'm not sure when I will possibly be in this area again, but wow, I would come here again.

We had a reservation for 7pm, but it wasn't really needed as there were only 2 other tables occupied and a couple at the bar. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table, which was in the room with the decorative tree, which I appreciated. We ended up having the room to ourselves the whole night, but with the ambiance and music, we almost didn't notice. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The service was slow overall but accurate. There weren't many check-ins to see how we were doing, but if you're not in a rush, it's perfect for catching up with friends. We felt like we could take our time and enjoy the company. The food and drinks were good overall. They had a lot of interesting options with the Latin/Asian Fusion menu that were fun to try (where else can you get guacamole with your sushi?). We had guacamole, dumplings, and tuna tatake for starters and then a few sushi rolls. All were very tasty and seemed fresh and made to order with good presentation. The only cons were that one of my friends got the poke bowl and was surprised at how small it was based on price ($33), and another friend thought his Negroni pour was a little short. We all left glad to have tried it and open to coming back again!

We stood at the front with absolutely no acknowledgement from any of the staff including the bartenders. There is a front counter it seems, but no one was there. After five minutes of standing, and yes, it was 5-min, as the World Cup was on and that game clock doesn't stop. 5-minutes might not sound long, but when you're standing in the front, its a long time. We finally got greeted by their understaffed people, and were seated in the back. Obviously no reservation needed, as they didn't even ask. After about another 5-minutes, we got paper menus. By this time, we scanned the QR code that was on the table, to see the menu, and we were already ready to order. Sadly, I wish I did look at the paper menu, because apparently the online menu was different. There was a gumbo on the paper menu apparently. There's pictures of it on their TV monitors, showcasing their food, but I didn't see it on the online menu. We go the oysters, which surprisingly no one got sick from. Chicken fajitas were OK, and the rainbow roll sushi was OK too. The service really was bad... I would not come back again. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located in between the back room and bar area, the bathrooms were surprisingly pleasant. No poop splatters or pee stains on the toilet and urinals. They keep their bathrooms clean. Sit or squat? Sit.

After dining at Nomu Ramen and Izakaya in Glenview numerous times, we've found that this Japanese…read morerestaurant consistently serves well-prepared and flavorful meals. It has become our go-to spot when we want a simple, relaxing meal featuring comfort food, or just a nice bowl of ramen. Our favorite dishes include: Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen ($15.99) -- This comes with three rectangular slices of chashu that are nicely lean, with just enough fat to add flavor. The half-boiled egg was cooked to perfection, the noodles had an ideal texture, and the broth was rich and flavorful. The portion was just right for me. Unagidon ($20.99) -- Fluffy sushi rice topped with fillets of eel glazed in a sweet soy-based sauce, served with miso soup. The bowl is full of flavor and very satisfying. The portion is perfect for me as well. Fried Mini Octopus ($10.99) -- We love the crispy, delicious mini octopus. It's a great appetizer to share. On our most recent visit, my husband ordered the Nabeyaki Udon ($17.99), which was topped with shrimp tempura, fish cake, tempura flakes, half an egg, and scallions. The bowl was tasty, but when comparing it with a similar dish at another Japanese restaurant in Northbrook at the same price, we found the portion at Nomu a little less generous. The other restaurant included an additional tempura shrimp and many chicken pieces, while Nomu's version did not include chicken. Because of that, my husband will probably stick with their ramen rather than order the Nabeyaki Udon again. All in all, we really enjoy our meals at Nomu Ramen and Izakaya. With friendly and attentive service, clean and comfortable seating, and a convenient location close to home, we'll definitely keep coming back! 4.5 rounded up to 5 stars.

The dining room is really pretty, and well-appointed! We were seated right away by friendly staff. Looking around, this appeared to be a very family-friendly establishment, as that was, by far, the most prominent type of connoisseur in the house on this evening! Our waitress was wonderful, and helped us with some recommendations upon us letting her know it was our first visit! She checked in with us frequently, and made sure drinks were always refilled promptly! We had a bunch of different items, and all were very good! We tried sushi rolls, beef noodles, and ramen. I'd have to say that the beef noodles probably were the best item for me! Prices were just about as you'd expect: not too high, but not super cheap either...but wholly justified by the great food and lovely service and experience! The drink options aren't huge. It's not a place you linger or have a conversation. The onion rings are nice and crispy but for me I don't like the huge batter centric rings. No how are you, can I get you something to drink. No water. A woman came up to us to take our order. I asked if we could at least get some water. There were items that we tried to order that they were out of. We didn't realize that this was a Muslim restaurant so there wasn't any alcohol to be served. Our waitress was not helpful in describing what was on the menu. My colleague ordered Arancini. I tried one. First of all they were the size of maybe a golf ball size. And had some square pieces of I'm not sure what it was. But it wasn't rice as it should be. Our meals were beyond horrible. I had supposedly gnocchi. But it was in a bowl of. I'm guessing cream and something green. Maybe olive oil but it was bright green. Neither of us could eat our meals. You would think they would ask us if there was something wrong or they could do something for us, but no, they could care less. No one ever came to check on us. I wanted to order a Diet Coke and even when it was apparent, we were not eating our meals. No one came to check on us for quite some time. I had to go up to the counter and ask if someone could at least give us our check. If I could give negative stars I would. I typically try to find the best in a restaurant. But it was quite clear they did not care about the food or the service. We didn't even get our water refilled. No one asked how our food was. Do not come here.

Boy oh boy, was this thing good. The sauce was perfect. I didn't do desert, only because I ate every piece of the things I ordered and that Strawberry Lemonade was SOOOOOO GOOD. I was full and happy. A must try if you are in the Rosemont IL area.
