So good! The service is quick and efficient. The owner was clearly working up a storm. While everything was good, the standouts were the chicken shish taouk, hummus, and falafel. The hummus was definitely tahini forward but is topped with a vinegar that balances it out. Falafels are never on my go to order, but he recommended them and they blew me away! So crispy on the outside, but soft and moist on the inside. And the chicken was juicy and delicious. The portions are incredibly generous as well. We had enough for a full meal later.

Growing up in the metro-Detroit & Dearborn area, aka the Middle Eastern Mecca, I can say I'm somewhat of a connoisseur when it comes to the cuisine. I'm also from the Middle East so I have some street cred haha. This place hits everything with a 10 - service, quality, consistency, cost, and cleanliness. It's our new favorite weekend treat after cooking all week. Our go-to order is the mixed platter that comes with beef and chicken tikka, beef kebab, and chicken shawarma with rice and choice of soup or salad. I absolutely love their Arabic salad so I always opt for that and no rice (even though their rice is very fluffy and flavorful!) My husband loves their chicken shawarma and gets a full order. We also add the baba, hummus, and lentil soup (all comes with bread but we opt out) - best in town!! Random craving, but an egg with leftover lentil soup is really great the next day. The gentleman that has been there the last three times we visited, and I believe also owns the restaurant, is very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is a decent size with an option to dine in. We've done both and prefer the convenience and comfort of to-go. Don't just believe me, go check it out for yourself! Enjoy!

First time trying this place, but will definitely be back. I originally ordered the chicken shawarma on pita, but the employee recommended the wrap and I'm glad he did because it was fantastic. Their falafel was really fresh and crispy. Great service and friendly staff.

Bab Al Salam Mediterranean Restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience! Despite its casual vibe, the restaurant excels with ample parking, a friendly staff, and most importantly, incredible food. The Chicken Shawarma stands out with its delicious flavor, while the fluffy, warm pita, creamy hummus, and delightful sauces add an extra layer of perfection. Highly recommended for a satisfying and flavorful meal! I love Mediterranean food and have had a combo of good, bad and should not be served. This place is with in my top 3. Recommend and will not be disappointed. Prices are decent but definitely worth it during lunch hours as they offer a variety and have great lunch specials.

Seriously, great food great prices, great service, fast service, dining, takeout, freshly cooked

Food was pretty good. Their order prep is awful. Absolutely do not order the combination tray for 5 - order the combination meal 5 times... it's cheaper and you'll get more food. We ordered through Grubhub and maybe that's where the disconnect was. The amount of food included was woefully short with several items missing. That being said, the food was tasty - so I would put it on my list of places I would try again.

Customer service could be improved and a smile would be nice. Otherwise food is good and price is reasonable.

Is a place was really nice inside and the parking is a bit small but there is a valet and the service was good. For the food the seafood platter was good the salmon was cooked perfectly but we were a bit disappointed with the Shawarma plate according to my friend the beef and lamb tasted like jerky so he was really disappointed with it we did order a lamp kebab which was really good I am very picky with my lamb and this one I would go back for because it didn't have that after it taste that I don't like when eating lamb. I would definitely still go back to try some other stuff in the menu. But definitely will have to try the meat kabob instead of the shawarmas next time. Happy eating!

It is a casual somewhat "fast food" style restaurant where you order at the counter. I came before dinner time so the place was relatively empty. I ordered the Combo Plate #2 which included grilled lamb kabab, beef kofta and chicken kabab. The combo came with a Jerusalem salad, house salad which was essentially a cucumber salad, pita bread and rice. Overall, the flavors were generally all there. The only issue I had was with the preparation of the chicken and lamb. The chicken was overcooked and dry. It is as if they had cooked the chicken kabab and was refiring it on the grill to order. The beef kofta was fairly tender and flavorful, but the lamb kabab seemed to lack the distinct gamey lamb flavor that questions the quality of the meat. The combo plate is a hearty portion so you certainly won't go away hungry. Overall, for the area, Falafel Dream should satisfy any Meditereanean food craving. I haven't specifically tried their falafel, but I would be cautious if they are made beforehand rather than made to order. If you have ever had authentic Middle Eastern food, this doesn't really quite hit the bar. It may cater more to the American taste preference. Service was average. Prices were reasonable. Parking is very limited.

This year I was so excited to bring my family and Ema was the only restaurant in Chicago I couldn't wait for them to try. I booked it as our final meal in Chicago and lay awake at 4am being so disappointed in my choice. Our server's greeting was monotone and emotionless, which I realize now, would be foreshadowing the meal to come. Ordered the following 1) Smoky eggplant- arrived appearing as an unappetizing curdled purple grey mush. This was the worst tasting baba ghanouj I have ever eaten. It was acidic and had the texture of cottage cheese. The only redeeming thing about this appetizer was the warm naan. 2) house made stratciatella with side of green falafels- The stratciatella was bland and stringy. I would not order this dish expecting the creamy interior of typical burrata. However, if you like string cheese mixed with heavy cream- you may enjoy this dish. The tomatoes and basil were good. 3) chicken kefta- kefta was bland, rice even blander . 4) short rib with polenta- bland and the meat and polenta had the same texture, which seems impossible but somehow the plating was over complicated by the addition of mushy dates and grapes. 5) buttered noodles- my 8 year old ordered this. It was decent with a good amount of Parmesan and cooked perfectly al dente. By the end of the meal, I was so shocked by how terrible the food was I didn't even want to order the sticky date cake that was my main purpose for returning to this restaurant. Ema, what happened to you?!
