Like most these days, we found Dave here on Yelp. He took my call right away and even asked questions to get a full picture of what our project was going to entail. From that conversation he was able to give me a very tentative initial quote. I really appreciated that, it was refreshing to have an open honest conversation about budget and pricing right up front. Just as he told me from the start, he was not the cheapest, nor was he the highest bid. He gave me a clear picture of how the process was going to unfold, and it was spot on. His brother Joe does the design work and 3D rendering. He was a joy to work with and really got our vision from the start. He had our design and drawings ready for engineering within a week. His passion for his job really shines through. His subcontractors were top notch, and easy to work with. Everyone showed up on time, and on the dates we expected them. There were a few times our dates were able to move up do to cancelations as well. The project moved REALLY fast. From the day we broke ground, until the final inspection, was less than 3 months. The one downside to the speed of the project, was the not getting the quotes for our change orders before the work was scheduled to be done. I was able to get the pricing verbally, but it came the day before the work was to be done, which put us under the gun a bit. We didn't want to push the project back, so we approved it and moved on, the evening before the crew was scheduled to be at our house. In the end, this hiccup in communication was outweighed by the speed and quality of the project as a whole. We love our new backyard, it is our new sanctuary. I will 100% recommend Dave and Naturescape Pools to anyone I know that is looking to put in, update, or repair a pool.

David and his team did an amazing job with our project. We were introduced to him through friends in the neighborhood who had done a pool with him a year earlier. Our project was a complete scrape of the backyard. His team was very professional and made sure to check in with us about the little details. David was also available to answer our questions along the way. We are thrilled about the workmanship and final look of the backyard.

We have now been able to enjoy our beautiful pool for a little over a year. When we met Dave, the owner, he said he would be with us for the whole journey and he still is. Anytime we reach out, he is there to help. We told him what we wanted and he made it happen, we couldn't be happier. Our backyard has now become the gathering place with family, friends and our labrador, Coby, who absolutely loves the pool..., we have received so many compliments, thank you Dave for making our backyard an oasis.

Stone was hardly adhered to the firepit. It fell off. Dave's guys used silicone caulking to put it back. It fell off again.

Similar to the other reviewer, I've waited a long time before posting this, hoping Dave would just take care of the problems, but he refuses to answer any calls or messages. Finally had to sue him just to get him to respond. We signed the contract in Sept 2020 and this is still ongoing. Here are some of the issues we had: - Dave's workers showed up unannounced while we were out of town, ran our dog over, didn't tell anyone, and left the dog to suffer all weekend until we returned. They then lied about it until we showed Dave the video. You can clearly see 4 workers watch it happen. Two broken bones and a large contusion. Dave said he'd pay for the veterinary bills and never did. - Dave never got the permit for the electrical and gas approved, despite me asking about it 11 times through text/email (and more on the phone). It's since expired, and I'm told it will be necessary to rip out the $30k of concrete I had put in, in order for the work to be inspected. - Contract was for 4 months to completion, it took over 18 months for them to finish, and to date not everything is done. - Destroyed our FRONT lawn, planters and irrigation by driving concrete trucks through everything. We have driveways on BOTH sides of our house going to the rear of the property. There was absolutely no reason to park and drive on the front lawn. I repaired all the irrigation myself and only asked Dave to pay for the re-seed of the lawn ($300). He refused. - Dave would take two weeks on average to return a text or phone call, and eventually he stopped responding to any communication. It's not like I was nagging him either - we're all busy. I would send a text every week or two asking for a status update but he would mostly ignore them and finally just stopped responding to any form of communication. - Terrible project management. Dave constantly asked me where we were at in the construction and what we needed to do next. I pretty much acted as the project manager for the build. - Would schedule work (i.e. concrete) before other necessary tasks were done (i.e. conduit for lighting). Thankfully I'm familiar with construction and could catch his errors before costly mistakes were made. - Work performed by his subcontractors was good. Work performed by his own crew (fire pit, coping, tile) was shoddy. I have had to re-do a significant amount it. They don't speak English, which causes problems during construction (they made the fire pit too low, not compensating for the concrete steps). Dave doesn't speak Spanish, so it compounds the problem. - Dave's workers would throw food trash, beer bottles, and beer cans everywhere. It would blow all over our property. - Dave put a porta-potty in when the subcontractors were working. As soon as they were done, he removed it, leaving his workers without a toilet. I didn't realize this until weed whacking and finding several piles of their poop and toilet paper on our hillside. I told Dave about this and asked him to put another porta-potty in but he never did. - Dave's license (#887072) states that he certified he has no employees and therefore does not need to pay worker's comp. I believe this opens his customers up to litigation on the worker's behalf if they are injured. - The $900 baja shelf light filled with water after only one year. - The waterfalls were installed crooked and do not flow right. He never fixed them. - Provides no help during the design process. He sends you to a couple of tile warehouses to pick everything out. All other pool contractors had someone at these locations helping their customers go through tile and color choices in 3D on a laptop. The colors could have been better planned and faded quickly. - We live 10 minutes from Dave, but he would only show up to collect a check. - Finally had to take him to small claims court, he showed for the first hearing and said he'd settle for the vet bills, and he could get the permit done in a week or two. After the hearing, he again ghosted me. Two months later he did not show for the second hearing. Incredibly, the judge only ruled for the cost of the permit ($500), and the vet bills. Do not think the courts will help you if things go south. He has not paid a dime towards the court judgement. Other (relatively) small but frustrating things: - Dave's workers borrowed some tools from me (SDS bits, level, shovels, etc) and took them. Dave said he'd replace them but never did. - They stole our new hose and nozzle, I replaced it with another new hose. They then replaced that with a hose with a big tear in it. Really? Dave said he'd replace it... Never did. - Dave left a dumpster size pile of construction trash at the front of our house for a year before having it hauled off. Finally, I wasn't rude or a difficult customer. Despite everything, I was very patient. We're all busy, but maybe he took advantage of that. In any case, I would not recommend Naturescape Pools - go with a well-established pool contractor.

This review is a long time coming. I rate Naturescape Pools a 10 out of 5 stars! From the very beginning the experience was great. I love the fact that Dave and his wife stayed in constant communication with us during the entire process. He was honest through the whole thing, when he said there will be a moment where our backyard will look like a bomb went off he was NOT lying. Dave has a team of professionals working for him from the designer, the family ran iron company, rock design specialist, and lets not forget Javier who is a master of all trades. I highly recommend this company if you are looking into building a pool or doing any additions to your backyard or front yard curb appeal. As a extra treat Dave has an eye for landscape and picked out some amazing trees to finish off the backyard. The landscaping part had to be my favorite part because it just tied everything together and was that cherry on top of this beautiful cake. Feel free to send me a message if you have any specific questions about my experience

When we decided to put in a pool in summer 2021, we wanted to find a builder that would help us design and implement the entire project end-to-end. Our plan was to find someone in the fall, iterate over a design through winter, break ground in January and finish in time to start swimming by summer 2022. We met with several OC based companies but most gave initial quotes that were way over our budget or focused more on pitching a sale than listening to our vision. I saw Naturescape Pools on Yelp with favorable reviews and though they were mainly servicing the IE, I gave them a call. Dave came out to take a look at our yard and I explained to him our general vision and budget. He gave us a rundown of what to expect if we selected him, left us with brochures for the materials and equipment he typically recommends to customers and said he'd connect us with his designer if we decided to go with him. He also showed us his portfolio and suggested that we visit a local client to check out his work first hand. We were able to see, in person, the quality of Naturescape's build. The client shared a glowing review of Dave and his company and this gave us the confidence to move forward with Naturescape. Dave's designer, Joe, worked with us over a few Zoom sessions to design the pool and surrounding landscaping. He provided a 3D rendering to visualize the end state. We loved this because it really helped us visualize yard and it was a great way for us to share with friends and family. The next step was to finalize a contract, obtain HOA approval and permit from the city. Throughout this process, Dave was transparent about the timing of the project phases and what to expect next. He let us know that after each phase of the project we should expect to see periods of inactivity (demo, plumbing, electrical, shotcrete, plaster). Proper expectation setting is important for any large project and I appreciate Dave keeping us informed throughout the build. Construction started in February starting with demo of the existing yard features and pool excavation. In March, rebar and plumbing was installed. The pool was "shot" (shotcrete) in April. Coping was installed in May along with the pool equipment. In June, Dave sent us to NPT Pools to select tile and pebble. By Mid June, tile was installed. Through each of these milestones, Dave was communicative and available for questions. He spent the time to answer all my questions ranging from the progress of the project to the technical details about the pool equipment and plumbing. If not available by phone, he'd answer by text message. He even jumped on a call with the city inspector and me to handle a permit issue, while on vacation. The last phase of the pool build was to plaster and pebble. After getting final approval from the city and working with another vendor to install our turf, plaster was finally installed and we were able to fill the pool before the end of August. Overall, the pool build went very smoothly. There were minor bumps along the way, but all major projects experience this. At the end of the day, risks were raised, issues were resolved, and Dave and his team delivered. The second major phase of our renovation was for a BBQ island. Dave helped us refine an earlier design that Joe had created. Gas and electrical was stubbed out during the pool build which made installation easy. I couldn't be more happy with how the island came out. It's exactly what I envisioned. The third and final phase of our backyard project was to install the landscaping (plants, trees, lighting, irrigation). Again, we worked with Dave to sort out options. We gave Dave our general requirements and vision and he came back with great ideas and a selection of plants and trees to really complement the pool and complete the look and feel of the yard. I highly recommend Naturescape Pools. Dave is great to work with, a subject matter expert and a professional. This extends to his crew that showed attention to detail and made sure I was happy with the outcome of every milestone. We could not be happier with how our backyard turned out. Side notes - Even after the completion of the project, Dave has been responsive about follow up questions and issues that have popped up. For example, one of our Pentair IntelliValves failed which impacted our pool to spa mode automation. I reached out to Dave and he promptly notified his Pentair rep. Within days, a service person reached out to me to schedule a repair and resolve the issue. 2 external factors I think helped keep the project on track. First, construction took place in the wake of COVID. I was working remotely full time and this allowed me to keep tabs on the progress of the project from home. I could easily field questions from the crew during the day thus avoiding delays. Second, we had very little rain during the first half of 2022 which allowed construction to continue uninterrupted - YMMV.

Before yard

We really wanted to transform our backyard which was basically just dirt (before photos) We called Dave at Naturescape Pools based on a referral from some friends. Dave came out and took the time to explain the whole process to us. We aren't the best at having a "vision" so Dave and his team were awesome at taking us through the potential and showing us different designs. Once we started, Dave did a great job of keeping the schedule on track and keeping us informed. His crews were all extremely professional all the way from excavation to concrete to landscaping. We are super thrilled how it all turned out and our family is LOVING our new yard. We are in the pool and/or hot tub every day and have already had some killer birthday parties! Thanks Dave and Naturescape Pools!

Finally writing this review to highly recommend Naturescape Pools. If you are looking for a builder you can depend on then call Dave at Naturescape Pools. Dave and his team were great throughout the whole process/design, yeah it took longer than expected due to Covid, but they came through and the end result speaks for itself. To this day, Dave responds to all my concerns right away and gets things done. We are extremely happy with the pool, the pool looks amazing day or night. A big thank you to Dave and his team.

We are very happy with our Naturescape pool and absolutely love the way it turned out. We use it almost daily! It has turned our backyard into a staycation destination. Thank you to David and Laurie for making our pool dreams come true!

It was a Sunday, and we took a chance, and called Dave, and lo and behold, he came over.....we were impressed with all he presented to us. As a matter of fact, he superseded our dream design, so we hired him on the spot. We were considered a "winter build". No one expected the amount of rain we had coming (2023 winter), and it was a long and disappointing process. Dave did many pool drains to keep our dug pool in tact, and again, he provided excellent service. Once we were able to proceed, may I say in caps, not to be yelling, BUT TO EMPHASIZE HOW MUCH WE LOVED ALL OF DAVE'S SUBCONTRACTOR'S. Roman, Lupe, Jose (one),Mark, Jose(another) and everyone on their crews were so personal, great with communication, and just a joy to have on our property. They made it painless and actually fun to go thru every inch of the process. We are so pleased with the outcome. Dave's suggestion to make our pool a focus point of our home full of windows to our back living area....MADE IT OUR PERSONAL PARADISE. Once our landscaping was in place with all our outside decor....WE LIVE TO BE OUTSIDE....FROM OUR GRILL, TO OUR FIRE-PIT, TO ALL OUR WATER FEATURES....WE ARE BEYOND HAPPY WITH OUR DECISION TO USE NATURESCAPE POOLS. PICTURES ARE NOT IN ORDER...BUT SHOWS DIFFERENT STAGES ANYHOO.......including nite time view.....WE LOVE LOVE OUR POOL....and the Baja is perfect for our little one....:) we want for nothing here,......all we desired!

Grout cracking at water line tile.

I've been waiting a long time to write this review. I wanted to have close to a year of ownership and see if Naturescape would alleviate any of our concerns. Turns out- it's gotten worse. Summary: Terrible experience. Lack of communication, disagreements on pricing, work done, poor craftsmanship, lack of accountability, and continued problems and false promises. STAY AWAY. We've been very patient and understanding and I honestly wish it didn't come to me writing this review, but he's now ignoring my calls and texts. Here's the highlights (just a few of many) of the problems we've encountered: - The pool deck (concrete around the pool) has risen nearly an inch after rains. This is due to expansive soil per Dave. He said he knew about it but didn't let us know this was a possibility. He said it's completely normal. HOW IS THIS NORMAL?! We have a misaligned pool and a tripping hazard. - Our pool equipment firmware was not updated upon install. Therefore we couldn't actually run our pumps for several weeks. - Our pump was leaking, they had to send someone to fix the leak. -Several cracks throughout our concrete. These showed up within the first few weeks after install. I understand cracks are inevitable with concrete but this is excessive in my opinion. -Our drains were clogged and not properly installed. Dave was supposed to send someone to take a look, still waiting. -Drains were not installed properly leading to pooling water away from the installed drains, and even against our house. The complete opposite of what a drain is intended to do. When I mentioned the pooling issue, Dave simply said "Humans make these things so naturally it's not perfect." - Cracking in our grout for our waterline tile. We originally spoke with Dave and Co. around October of 2021. The initial meeting and design went great. We loved working with Joe who helped design a beautiful pool for us. But unfortunately, that's where our good experience ended. We were told around this time that we'd be swimming by early spring. We gave them the OK and went ahead to write up the contract so we could get things moving. The designs and site plan were all completed within a couple months but we were wondering why we didn't actually have a contract. After repeated follow ups, it wasn't until the end of February that Dave gave us the contract to sign. He still assured us that we'd be swimming by Spring time so we decided to move forward since we loved the design. We finally started the demolition and dig in March. From here on out was a nightmare. There were several instances where we would have no idea what was going on from lack of communication. The pool would sit for weeks with nothing happening. We'd call, email, and get no response. We later found out that they had fired our "project manager" and it was his fault, not theirs. Every time we had a complaint it was always someone else's fault, or "just how it is". At no point did Dave take accountability for anything. He even sent a nasty text to my wife then later apologized and said he was out of line. Finally after lots of headaches, we were able to fill our pool towards the end of July. It took NINE months from our initial "Go Ahead" to the time we were swimming. We were hoping that after the pool was complete, we could just swim and not have to worry about anything else. Turns out, problems continued. We are now at a point that we are considering legal action to correct the issues mentioned above. STAY AWAY FROM NATURESCAPE POOLS. They talk slick, but don't follow through on their promises and have very poor craftsmanship.

Before

I found Dave on Yelp. Originally we were getting quotes to add a jacuzzi, but the pricing for just a jacuzzi from several companies were outrageous. I felt comfortable with Dave and asked him how much it would be to add EVERYTHING for our dream backyard and his quote was reasonable in comparison to the others. I am so happy that we decided to do EVERYTHING....we love the way it turned out and have gotten so much use out of it since it was done last year! WE are now known as the party house...we host all the holiday's for the family! The construction took a little longer due to so much rain last year. Thank you to Dave and his professional team!

CJ S.

One of the reasons we chose David as our pool builder was his great communication and familiarity with the process. David readily explained the process and quickly returned communications, solved any problem, and calmed any existential crisis. I've been involved with commercial pool installations, so I thought I knew about pool construction but It's hard to fathom how big a project putting in a pool is until your yard is in a state of decimation. We received several bids, but David was the most communicative and offered better quality equipment, stone, and tile options. The pool is amazing, thank you Naturescapes team!

We had a pool leak and reached out to Evin from Good Living Pools. From the very first phone call,…read moreEvin was professional, informative, and genuinely helpful. After talking through the situation, I decided to have him come out to assess the issue in person. Evin quickly identified that the water loss might be coming from small, hard-to-see cracks in the spa tile. He suggested shutting off the spillway to let the wall dry completely. After monitoring the water levels for a week, his diagnosis was spot on. The leak stopped entirely. He also noticed our pool vacuum was hooked up through the skimmer and explained why that setup wasn't ideal. He pointed out an alternative outlet and even caught a rubber stopper that could've caused serious plumbing damage. He removed it on the spot, not an easy task, but he got it done. Once we confirmed the leak source, we moved forward with replacing the spa tile. Evin mailed us tile samples to choose from and also facilitated an appointment at the warehouse so we could see more options. During the work, Evin found damage behind the tiles, so we decided to repair the top four inches, remove the brick trim, and finish the top in matching tile. It looks fantastic, we love how the spillway looks now when it's running. Evin also upgraded our system overall: he installed a chlorinator (goodbye floating dispenser!), put the pumps on a smart schedule so the pool circulates evenly, automated our line fill, and updated our existing automation system to tie everything together. He took the time to walk me through how it all works, and everything runs beautifully now. We couldn't be happier with the results and the experience. Evin is knowledgeable, honest, and goes above and beyond. We highly recommend Good Living Pools not only for repairs and upgrades, but also if you're buying a home with a pool, reaching out and having Evin inspect it will give you peace of mind.
