Instead of doing unnecessary work, he fixed the leak with a much simpler repair. After talking through the situation, I decided to have him come out to assess the issue in person. Evin quickly identified that the water loss might be coming from small, hard-to-see cracks in the spa tile. He suggested shutting off the spillway to let the wall dry completely. After monitoring the water levels for a week, his diagnosis was spot on. The leak stopped entirely. He also noticed our pool vacuum was hooked up through the skimmer and explained why that setup wasn't ideal. He pointed out an alternative outlet and even caught a rubber stopper that could've caused serious plumbing damage. He removed it on the spot, not an easy task, but he got it done. Once we confirmed the leak source, we moved forward with replacing the spa tile. Evin mailed us tile samples to choose from and also facilitated an appointment at the warehouse so we could see more options. During the work, Evin found damage behind the tiles, so we decided to repair the top four inches, remove the brick trim, and finish the top in matching tile. It looks fantastic, we love how the spillway looks now when it's running. Evin also upgraded our system overall: he installed a chlorinator (goodbye floating dispenser!), put the pumps on a smart schedule so the pool circulates evenly, automated our line fill, and updated our existing automation system to tie everything together. Due to earth motion the mastic between the brick and concrete had pulled up, dried out, flaked into long strings. In the attached picture, you can see our rescue Goldendoodle contemplating how much nicer the pool looks. No calcium ring or waterfall, and can you notice the mastic? No? Exactly! Craig was professional, extremely knowledgeable, and upfront from the beginning. He initially quoted a very fair price for a like-for-like pump replacement -- much lower than the $12K quote I got elsewhere. I ended up upgrading to a 1.5 HP pump, which raised the cost a bit, but the installation was done well and everything worked great. Craig and his team did a solid job draining and cleaning the pool, and I appreciated the bundled pricing offer to keep costs manageable. Where things fell a bit short was in communication. The monthly pool cleaning service was quoted at $170, which felt a bit high, and when I asked about flexibility, communication started to taper off. I also didn't receive a walkthrough on how to use the new pump -- just the manual. Overall, Craig really knows pools and gets the job done efficiently. If the communication and follow-through had been a little stronger, this would've easily been a 5-star experience.

At this point, it's clear that this is not just bad luck--it appears the original build was not done correctly. There was no proper support or retaining wall in place, which likely caused these ongoing problems. I understand warranties and time limits, but realistically, it should not take three pours to get the job done right. I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and hoped the first repair would fix the issue long-term. Unfortunately, it didn't. When I reached out this time, they essentially put their hands up and offered no real help, other than giving me their contractor's contact information. No accountability, no real solution. Overall, this has been a very disappointing experience. Poor workmanship and lack of support after the job is done. I would recommend doing thorough research before choosing this company.
