Matt came over today for a quote. We need monthly pool service. Our pool is nothing fancy, actually it's the opposite, but only about 12 years old max. The price I was quoted was WAY higher than any other company I've talked with. $110 for basic service and $130 for premium (which includes the 4 x $75 filter changes and extra chemicals if needed). That is super high for my area! So what if I don't need all the chemicals one week, will you charge me less since you're going to charge me more if I need more--isn't that what a pool guy does, change the amount each week and of course it's going to vary?!? So why charge extra. With the basic service you have to pay extra but with the premium it's included?! No thanks! The last quote I got was $90, I currently pay in between the $90 and this company's basic package/$110). This company is just way too high. In response to the company's reply -- yes, I understand everything Matt said to me, thank you! For clarification - Matt said it costs more when he has to add extra chemicals and was highly pushing the $130 package as if chemicals weren't included in the basic package. So there will be an extra charge for basic chemicals, which of course will vary weekly? It's never going to be the same ph. The weather, how often we use our pool/spa the previous week and other factors play a role in the degree of chemicals needed. I've had my pool guy for over 4 years so it's not like it's an easy decision to find a new one. Obviously he did well or else he wouldn't have lasted this long. read more

Affordable Pool Care saved our bacon! My husband normally took care of our pool, and let's be honest... It was more like let it turn green and then shock it back to blue! Well we went on vacation and left instructions with my father in law to add chemicals while we were gone. Unfortunately he completely forgot about it for 2 weeks in the middle of summer, and we came back to a swamp! I called around, and we received a couple of different quotes from guys that could barely put together a sentence and honestly didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing. Thank god I discovered Yelp and found Matt! Several of the pool guys we called had suggested draining our pool and acid washing it. Matt pointed out that not only would that not work with our pool,(It is a fiberglass pool) but that it was going to end up costing almost double what it would cost to do it with their process! They warned us that it might take a couple weeks to straighten out our pool that was a swamp, and I don't know how they did it, but it cleaned up to perfect in less than 3 days. Phil is a quality pool guy. We moved into our home back in August and the pool was in bad shape. Built in the 60s and the original equipment to boot. Phil was able to get the pool looking crystal clear even with the ancient pump and filter. Seriously the guy must have been at my house every day of not every other day making sure the pump and filter were working right and the pool was clearing up. After having some work done on my pool, I wanted to try a new pool service. I left requests for quotes on both websites & via phone messages. Out of five companies, Phil was the only one to call back. He gave me detailed information on how to temporarily remedy the situation until he could come by.
