I came here with three friends on Saturday night. Two of us are Indian. Myself and my other Indian friend ordered dishes as "hot" and they came out so spicy they were inedible and we had to send them back. Our other, non-Desi, friend's food was completely edible. A real head scratcher there. Our thought is that they took one look at us and bumped our order up to Desi Spicy, which of course was not what we ordered. Anyway, I don't know any Desis who would have enjoyed those dishes as hot as they were. Dishes are a mix of south and north Indian, so keep that in mind when ordering. My friend and I are north Indian and inadvertently ordered a south Indian dish and it was a bit off-putting. So, just beware that this is not a regional cuisine. Overall, an okay experience. Service was okay. I won't be rushing back as I'm still on the hunt for legit Indian cuisine in Austin. read more

We stopped in today for happy hour, which the website and signs in front of the restaurant said was 3-6. We asked the waitress what the happy hour specials were and she told us it was now 4-7 so we were about 40 minutes too early. When we pointed out the website and signage still said 3-6 and that's why we had come, she shrugged and said "Yeah, we changed it." Went here tonight with 7 friends. All of us are vegan and we tried a few different things. Everything was excellent! Saag was the best I've had in town. Cauliflower and Potatoes were perfectly spiced and cooked. Cardamon Margarita was a nice spin on a classic. Samosas were big and perfectly cooked with yummy sauces. Great prices and service. This is the most Austin place I've been to in a while. Indian-Mexican fusion. Who would have thought that these two disparate cuisines can meld into such awesomeness. Food was average (millionaires curry was pretty good). Service was average. Floor & windowsills were dirty. There's a weird dirty bathroom smell in the whole place. If you have food allergies, don't trust this place. Honestly, don't trust this place, period. I just had a super messed up experience with a pickup order here. We confirmed a severe nut allergy multiple times over the phone and in person when we came to pick up. The guy swore that the menu was accurate when it came to allergy notation, used the menu to confirm that everything we ordered was fine, and said that he had also gone back to talk to the kitchen. We got home and opened up the packages and found out that the tacos come with a bunch of unlabeled containers of sauce. I called once more before I ate anything, and after more conversation, the kitchen finally mentioned that the dish we ordered comes with cashew sauce (again: not noted on the menu). If I had eaten it, I'd be in the hospital. I didn't even get an apology; instead, I had to beg for a refund on the food I couldn't eat ("can't you just eat the rest?") and got a lecture that making these kinds of mistakes on "allergy stuff" was totally standard for most restaurants. I've worked in food service. Believe me: this is not totally standard. If my spidey sense hadn't kicked in I'd be in the hospital right now. It's especially surprising because they make such a big deal of being super accommodating of dietary restrictions! It's too bad, because the reviews were great and we were really excited to try Nasha, but this was just shockingly poorly handled start to finish. read more

I was not impressed with this place. Nothing about this place is authentic.I tried their tikka con queso, and it was nothing spectacular. I actually didn't like it at all. I also tried their Millennium chicken curry. This dish was just okay. The chicken was tender which is a plus, but the curry itself was just average. I had garlic naan and it seemed like it was stale. It was hard for me to bite it and it was very chewy. Also, I took my order to go. Maybe, thats why the naan seemed stale I am not sure. It may be a different experience dinning in. read more

A group of friends and I visited this restaurant a few days ago. I've had Indian food from many restaurants in the states, both authentic and very mainstream. I ate at Nasha and was thoroughly unimpressed. Couple points that made it a poor experience: - they did not have rice, but did substitute free naan instead (which was very nice of them) - two people at our table ordered the same dish, but got very different looking and tasting dishes - dishes tasted like they used canned or frozen veggies rather than fresh - we ordered about six or seven of their ten dishes. The only one that we enjoyed was the korma. The remainder of the dishes left strange tastes, smells, or were just too bland for Indian food. It was a cute place, and the servers were very nice, but I don't think I would eat the food there again. read more

First time eating here - my only note is that the Vindaloo was DELICIOUS, but I'm glad I also ordered Naan (Garlic, also delicious). That's because I ordered the Vindaloo as medium and it was the kind of spicy where you end up continuing to eat it so that that the afterburn is canceled out. Best Indian food in Austin. My husband is from India and we were thrilled to find this place. We've been twice in the past week. The traditional dishes are spot on. Paneer Korma is to die for. I like that the ambiance is low key. It feels very authentic. This is a little known gem of a restaurant where you can still usually find seating even during busy times. I don't think a lot of people know about this place which is both a curse and a blessing. I ordered take out which was ready in less than 20 minutes and I noticed that there were only one or two tables when I went to pick it up. This, however, says nothing about the quality of their food or service. The lamb samosas, which seem to come highly recommended by many fellow Yelpers, were not a disappointment. Visited this place after like 2 years. The first 2 times I was here, I either didn't like the taste of the food or had bad experience with the waitress. So, I decided I would give them another try after 2 years. But to my horror, this place has gotten worse! We were greeted by dead cockroaches all around the main entrance door. We waited for approx 10 mins to be seated. 15 mins to take the order. The owner and the waitress both were having a good chat and neither came forward to take the order. We had the thali and that's probably the worst food I've had in a while. The so called Millionaire's curry was stale. Naan were dry and hard to chew. Basmati rice was soggy n sticky. Sheera was definitely spoit n rotten. I would never recommend this to anyone and would never go back! Food was great service from Tatiana!! Was very rude. I waited 10min for my togo order that was staring at me. As soon as I walked through the door this Lady had an attitude. She decided to get the order of a table of 3 before just letting me get my food. Then she went to the back to do God knows what while I was still staring at my food. Ordered to go from Nasha India and was very disappointed. We ordered 2 Garlic Nan Breads (thankfully), one was burnt and one was cooked correctly. The edible Nan was pretty good. We got an order of Veg Puff Samosas and Lamb Puff Samosas, which were labeled in correctly in their bags, (good thing one of us isn't a vegetarian). The Veg Puff Somosas were pretty good, the lamb was awful, had no flavor and was soaked in grease. For the entrées, I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was TERRIBLE! I paid $11 for way too much rice and 5 chunks of quarter sized chicken in a ton of flavorless Tikka Masala sauce. This is the worst Tikka Masala I have ever had. My sister ordered the Millionaires Curry and she really liked it, but agreed that the Tikka Masala was just gross. I paid $40.00 for items I could have gotten at a "fast food" Indian restaurant for half the price that tastes way better. read more

I love this place. My girlfriend and I get take out here so much that several of the very friendly staff now know my name. I always get the chicken tikka masala (get it hot or desi hot if you like spice!). I usually also get the Aloo Gobi which is probably the best of its kind I've had anywhere. They have a really lovely patio area if you want to bring a dog and have some very interesting cocktails. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

So I lived in the northwest were this is a very popular type of food. And I was not a fan. But I wanted to give it a try here in Austin. I was very surprised and enjoyed my meal. I had the coconut curry and it was amazing I tried some of my friends marsala and normally I have had it where it is not so good but this one was a little sweet and I enjoyed that as well. I had a curry Margarita and that was also yummy. The service was amazing even when they were busy. I for sure will be back and its so close to home so excited. read more

I had the chicken biryani,the curried margarita, and the cardamom margarita the first time I was here. All were delicious. Today I tried the fish malvani tacos and mango mamosa. Again, I was not disappointed. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is great. I came here because I am always up for trying a new indian spot in hopes for a more authentic food experience. The location is probably what makes this place is a hit. Portions are small for the price. Side sauces are not authentic in taste and they are also watery which was a huge turn off. Food was also more spicy than expected/ordered even though I am one for very spicy food. It just overpowered the dish and I couldn't really taste the flavor. I give this place 3 stars for being quick, conveniently located and open late. Will stick with Tärka as id rather know what to expect with flavor and have plentiful portions. read more

This was a weird place. The decor is great and colorful- and the samosas were tasty. The -2 stars come from the watery, too-experimental curry which had overwhelming flavors that weren't good. I got the coconut chicken curry and it was just...watery. I could barely finish my meal and filled up on rice instead. Ordered I have no idea what. I was in rare form. The young lady that was the hostess, bartender, and server was really nice and patient. All I remember was eating the food like I hadn't eaten in years. My sister and her BF said that it was good but the portions of meat were a little small. Probably because I ate more than my fair share. At least I paid. It was delicious. So good, in fact, that I promised a 5 start Yelp review. I want to go back and try them again...sober. read more

My companion and I are both veterans of Indian cuisine and have been in love with New India on South Congress for quite some time. Nasha appears to be an offspring of that restaurant. Nasha has a shorter menu with some crossover items from New India, but with the twist of some fantastic Indian "tacos" served very much in the Tex-Mex style. My lamb vindaloo curry was above average but lacked some seasoning. I ordered it mild, but it probably should have been salted at some point. My friend's chicken tandoori tacos were a huge hit. Served on double corn tortillas, they were a total delight. Excellent nan rounded out my meal. The dining room is clean and smartly decorated, but it is a tad small and the darkness of the space made me slightly claustrophobic. There is a small deck for those who prefer dining out of doors. Although New India is closer to us, we will be back to Nasha for those tacos. read more
