Heat on the lamb vindaloo was just right and the meat was so tender ( could have used more than 2 potatoes in this dish hint hint!)! The staff is friendly, the patio area is accommodating, and as a non-vegetarian, I really liked their kale with chana dal. The portions are generous, and Nasha is a pleasant place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. If you like spicy, order a level spicier than you're used to here. Wow! The Tikka Masala is made with almond and cashew butter and is incredible! They have a great cocktail menu and the water and cocktails are served in traditional-looking, hammered metal cups. The naan is yummy and they have a fantastic salsa. They also have a lot of vegetarian options. The place is in a cool part of east Austin and they allow dogs on the patio. read more

I ordered the Verde Masala dish and bearly did I take a spoonful when my tastebuds were on fire. I almost choked. I ordered "hot" because when I asked the waitress basically if that one was "bearable" she just nodded and said yeah there's another one that's the hottest. but that was it, without even explaining or warning that it could be extremely hot. this wasn't the issue though. typically when you don't like a dish at restaurant, they always accommodate guests and exchange dishes for whatever else you might want. they refused to exchange my plate stating that they don't do "refunds" based on "hotness level". they didn't care at all about me. people go to restaurants for the experience not just the food. these people completely ruined my experience and perception of them. so if you go, make sure to ask the waitress to carefully explain hotness levels of the sauce and also make sure you like what you eat because if not then tough shit, they won't exchange your plate or give you a refund. I only got a refund because I had to tell her I refused to pay for my plate. If your guests didn't like a dish, they are in their full right to exchange it for another one. Customer service will take you a long way ;) read more

If I hadn't been going to Saffron on Far West lately, I would probably give this more stars, but I can't. I am a die-hard fan of this place, I have spent so many late nights here! I come around 10pm after work. My favorite meal in town is here. But the food quality and cooking consistency seem to be going down. Hopefully the cooks will be retrained. Who knows, maybe it is just one Cook who gets tired at the end of the night.... I give big props to the staff, menu and concept. The taco dishes used to be perfect. Now a chicken taco that used to have caramelized onions and peppers, sweet and browned, has *raw* chopped onions and peppers. The chicken used to be tender and juicy and cut in small chunks with tandoori flavor. Now it is dry and shredded in long strips without much seasoning. The dish seems more like budget typical Mexican food than amazing Indian fusion. The kind of taco you'd get at a taco truck piled with cilantro and raw onion, more abt protein quantity and speed than subtle flavor. I really hope the kitchen gets back on its game with this chicken tandoori taco plate because it was amazing. The right balance of ingredients goes a long way with this one. The chana dal is also way too salty tonight. Your kitchen used to flavor this perfectly. I learned to make it at home exactly like here because I love it. Please restore to former glory. The food was good, but the service convinced me that I would only order takeout from here in the future. We were seated outside on a chilly night without being offered the opportunity to wait for a table inside or to be seated at the bar (I admit I could have been more insistent about this...that's on me). We were seated under a gas heater, but there was never an offer to turn it on. There were long waits between every stage of the dinner ordering process. I found myself having to head into the restaurant to find our waitress to deliver flatware after she had dropped off the food. What a great find on East 7th. Nasha has great prices for authentic Indian cuisine with a hippie East Austin flair. We had the Malvani Roasted Coconut Curry with lamb and Shahi Korma with chicken and shared both items ($13 & $11). We tried the paneer nan ($3.50) and Veg Puff Samosas ($4) appetizers. Also tossed in bottle of cab ($19), Total check price was $52. Dinner for 2 at those prices is almost unheard of in Austin these days. Our server, Marshall, was very helpful and friendly. Everything came on little silver platters which added a stylish touch. We sat inside due to rain concerns, but will be looking forward to the patio dining next time. read more

Delicious Indian food! My co-worker and I discovered this place about two months ago and have been back almost weekly since then. The curries are excellent. I think we have now tried them all. It was nice to see a menu at an Indian restaurant with more than the typical dishes. Tried the Millionaire Curry and the Mumbai one and both were good and had a nice spicy flavor. Atmosphere here was good and so was the service. Had no issue with parking. My biggest complaint, however, was the tiny portion sizes. The curries barely had 3-4 pieces of chicken in it, which is far from enough. I was starving soon after. The $1 to substitute for brown rice was ridiculous as well, especially after you see the portion size of the rice. Go if you like small portions. Skip if you have an appetite. read more

Some of our highlights are definitely the lamb saag and the millionaire curry with chicken. We also always go for the potato cake wada, but they seem to sell out of this one! All the chef specials we have tried have been great as well. The ground lamb dish is a solid choice and we liked the poached egg curry for something a little off the beaten path. I went to the restaurant pretty late at around 11:30 but the place wasn't listed to close until 1 am.
