What a fun place! Excellent food made with the freshest ingredients - not at all surprising coz its owned by the same folks that that little jewel in SoCo - New India. Koliwada Shrimp and Indian-style tacos are the perfect-sized snacks for a late-night appetite. Love this place! read more

This is a really charming little Indian place on the East Side. We took our 1 year old and were happy to find that they have a $3 kids menu full of food he was likely to eat. For the adults, the rest of the menu makes it clear that this is not a traditional Indian restaurant. They have Indian-inspired tacos and an intriguing cocktail menu that I unfortunately did not get to taste. However, we did taste the mango and cardamom lassis and they were delicious. We also tried the roasted coconut curry with lamb, which was delicious, the chicken tikka tacos, and a wonderfully crispy plate of naan. The service was very pleasant and quick (it wasn't crowded - we were there at a weird hour). I would definitely go back. read more

I had a great time at Nasha last weekend on my birthday. The samosas, Schezwan Chicken and Poached Eggs in Malvani curry were delicious. The naan was thin but tasty. The mango lassi was okay and they serve it in a tiny glass (really not fair to a Punjabi!:P). The food came quickly but the staff was a little slow at other times(getting the check and the to-go boxes). The ambiance is good at best. read more

Excellent! I've been married to a Mexican from Michoacan for 39 years and she likes the Mexican portion of the fusion and my son-in-law is from India and he likes the Indian side. What can I say? It is very good food. Try it ! You'll like it! One thing I would recommend is go Sunday for brunch! It seems they have not done a good job getting the word out that they are open at that time so let your friends know that for now at least there is no line and the food is great. read more

Not terribly impressed. I went with a group of friends and ordered saag paneer. The saag and rice parts were great, as was the naan. I'd like to comment on the paneer, but it was missing in the dish. I figured the order had just been taken down incorrectly. I was in the largest group in the restaurant, it was pretty clear there weren't a lot of staff for lunch, and I wasn't going to make a fuss. It wasn't missing on the check though, which was upsetting (especially since there's a higher charge for it). I'd love to give Nasha another try, but maybe in a smaller group, especially since my friends all loved their food and it looked like the lunch specials were a great deal. read more

Went for lunch with coworkers...interesting flavors and spices but chicken was dry the rice was dry. the mint chutney was great and so was the garlic nan...but you cant make a meal decision on condiments. read more

I'm gonna give this place 5 stars just for the curry margarita. This was seriously the best margarita of my life, tying with el gato negro pineapple margarita in New Orleans. Other than that, I can't say this place was any better than. Clay Pit or New India. read more

Had a great experience at Nasha. A large group went for a friend's birthday dinner. The server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we asked for. Great service, delicious food, and lovely atmosphere on the patio. read more

With consistently delicious food and much improved service am happy to upgrade my review. well done Nasha

Indian tacos...that's right!! Delicious and best around. Good cheap beer on draft. A bit small but worth the wait. Afterwards try Cuvée coffee around the corner. read more

Fantastic Indian food! We have been searching for a good, authentic Indian food place since moving from NYC, and we found it! We had the lamb samosas, the millionaire curry with lamb, & the chicken vindaloo. It was all fantastic! Great atmosphere and service as well. read more

I went here for lunch today for my first time with a co-worker who swears by half of their menu. There weren't a lot of people in around lunch time, and they had one person running the front of the house managing 3-4 tables very well. She would rush to the door to greet folks as she saw a car roll in, and have tables set prior to them walking in. The menu is unique with a little fusion of tex-mex as one of today's lunch specials was enchiladas that you could get with curry and lamb. I went for the lunch platter which was an insanely large portion for the price, and I would be surprised if it stays that large. It was the curry of the day, protein choice, 2 veggies, naan, and a small dessert for $8-9. Crazy. The food was tastier than it cost, but nothing was over the top delicious which is why I didn't throw up that fifth star. They nailed the service, clean east side old house restaurant, and price, though. I'm not sure how it would be for happy hour or dinner, but they have a small bar in the back corner with liquor, a few taps, and room for about 4-6 people on bar stools. If you are looking for a change from Clay Pit, Tarka, and the other Indian food spots around town I would recommend stopping by. It's nearby Silo, and several E 6th bars like the Shang and Violet Crown if you want to grab a drink before or after. read more

I found Nasha on a "most underrated" list online and we decided to give it a try for a weekday lunch. It was delicious. The server/bartender was very friendly and checked on us often. The place is small but has cute patio seating if you can brave the heat. We had the millionaire curry and the roasted coconut curry. I preferred the millionaire curry but the coconut curry was also very good, coming from someone who thinks coconut should only be in liquor and chocolate. We had happy hour wine and curried margaritas. I was a bit skeptical about the margarita, but it was amazing. A delicious margarita with curry spices....who knew?! Everything was so good actually, we got tikka masala and lamb quesadillas to go for dinner. You can't go wrong here. A word of caution, if you can't handle heat, don't get the Hot! And unless you are crazy, don't even think about the desi hot option. Enjoy! read more

Food is nothing to write home about and it's a little overpriced for the portions. I'd suggest New India Cuisine on South Congress over this place. read more

Excellent food and the curry margarita was very well mastered....great flavor and heat!

My fiancé and I came here for lunch and everything was amazing. It was her first time for Indian cuisine and she loved it as well. Millionaire curry worth lamb....on point. Wonderful lunch special with a little bit of everything. I've been a chef for 16 years and I couldn't find anything to be picky about haha. Try this place for great Indian fusion fare! read more

The food at the restaurant was good but the prices were quite high for the small proportions. The mango lassi was $4 and I received a very small glass. I went to the restaurant pretty late at around 11:30 but the place wasn't listed to close until 1 am. At around 12 they started blaring music and picking all the chairs up in an attempt to get us out of the restaurant. They also messed our checks up. Over all 2/5. read more

Naan and popper were tasty. The tacos were good but both were a bit dry... add some juices/sauce and I'd definitely order again. Everything was very reasonably priced. read more

Went there last night and I'm pumped! Indian food on the East Side! WOHOOO! Tried the samosas and lovedem. Tried the Malvani curry and I loved it. Tried the local beer on tap and... yeah I love beer! Our waitress, Amanda, was awesome! Very knowledgeable on the menu and great personality. Loved the piercings too! This is a must eat place for everyone looking for damn good Indian food. read more

Wow!! I am so impressed with this new Indian restaurant we tried yesterday called Nasha. The DAL TARKA MALVANI was the best dal I've ever had!!! And I eat A LOT of Indian food. We also enjoyed the veg puff samosas and Koliwada shrimp. The restaurant was super clean and our server was very friendly. We will be back again soon!!! 5 stars Nasha!! read more

Being of Indian descent, people always ask me what is the best Indian food in town. If you have never eaten at Nasha or the "big brother" restaurant, New India, you are seriously missing out... Too often we see ethnic restaurants in this country have built a menu for the American palate in mind- so you miss out on how the food is supposed to be prepared and the result is a blander and less authentic version of the actual cuisine. Many Indian restaurants can actually cook with the same spice levels as you find in India but they cut corners and outsource a lot of the curries and masalas or will even buy their naan and other Indian breads from bulk food processors and give you the appearance that everything is made in their kitchen. What I love about New India and Nasha is that everything is made from scratch and you really get to experience the authentic flavors. Also, keep in mind that there are many different styles of Indian cooking in India but we rarely get to experience that variety in the States- Nasha and New India specialize in a cuisine from Maharashtra (Western Part of India where Mumbai is located) also known as Malvani cooking. I have been to many Indian restaurants in my life but never been to one that specializes in this region of India- and Nasha and New India capture those flavors perfectly. This Malvani style of cooking has a lot of fresh coconut in the recipes and incorporates a lot more seafood than a traditional Punjabi, or Northern Indian style of cooking (which Nasha and New India do superbly well- try their biryani or their varieties of naan breads and the chicken tikka masala is the best I have ever had!) I will give you an example: the other day I stopped into New India to say hi to the owner, and I saw a lady in the kitchen with a mound of cracked open fresh coconuts and there was a lady with a huge knife scraping out the coconut flesh and saving the coconut water for their recipes! How many places in town do that?? It literally reminds me of my mother's cooking and we always get treated like family in either restaurant. As I mentioned earlier, if New India is the "big brother" restaurant that is more authentic in nature than Nasha is the mischievous little brother who doesnt mind getting into trouble and likes to see what he can get away with... Located on the East Side, Nasha (which literally means to get "high"), is rubbing shoulders with all the newcomers from the Foodie World and holding its own with its "fusion style" Indian cuisine. They take authentic Indian cuisine and prepare it in more non-traditional fashion (tacos, quesadillas, etc.) and the results are amazing! Not to mention, maybe one of my favorite things about Nasha is the full bar and fusion style Margaritas that are some of the best in a town where the Margarita is king of the cocktail- try the cardamom or tulsi (basil) margarita and for a real Indian flavor check out the curry leaf margarita which will leave you speechless... I cant say good enough things about this restaurant and the couple that owns it. If you are looking for a great date spot that is a bit off the beaten path or for a cool spot to hit before you hit East Austin, Nasha is your place! Enjoy!! read more

Another favourite place in Austin. Casual atmosphere inside and outside and very friendly staff. Location is bit away from crowded area of 6th street, but very pleasant and peaceful even if you sit outside in patio. Chicken & Goat tacos are awesome. Another great dish to try is mussels malvani. In alcoholic beverages my favourite is curried margarita and cardamom margarita. In non alcoholic beverages must try is cardamom Lassi. Lassi is sweet but smalls great due to cardamom. Best summer drink. read more

Great happy hour deal (half off apps except seafood) and drink specials. For our entrees, we ordered the lamb vindaloo and millionaire curry; both were very good. We are particular about the level of spiciness as we have found most places tend to err on the side of less spicy. At Nasha, we asked for out food to be very spicy, and they got it just right. Our waiter was also really friendly. Will definitely be back again soon. read more

I have been to Nasha many times and have LOVED the food every time. However, last Friday I guess they had a "bad batch" of saag paneer and I was VIOLENTLY ill with food poisoning. I have never had food poisoning before, especially not by my own culture's food, and so this was a complete outrage. Any restaurant that even ONCE has a "bad batch" of ANYTHING is on my blacklist and should be seriously inspected by a professional. read more

Pretty good. Tried the jalapeño naan. Def recommend. I always get chicken tikka masala and it did not disappoint. Friend got the Chicken Briyani and it wasn't very good. We'll be trying the other location soon though! read more

I really like the concept of this place. Indian fusion sounded great until I tried it. Now I might be very biased because I grew up eating authentic Indian food all my life. Nasha is definitely for those who like that mild taste of Indian spices that is presented in a texmex fashion. I got the tandoori chicken taco and tulsi margarita. I might go back for their happy hour specials.. But not very sure about their food. As I mentioned, this place might be great for the guys who want a bit of Indian flavor but don't want to go all in. read more

We only ate there once, but I though it was pretty good. The short comings were more our fault for not knowing the menu better. First of all, I always ask for hot when I go out because most Americanized ethnic food is deliberately not hot. This was hot. One of the spiciest places I've been in a while, and I didn't even request for them to make it hotter than their "normal" hot. We got a bunch of stuff to try - tikka masala, millionaires, fish tacos, and some other dishes. We all tried everything - and we all liked everything. Looking forward to going back and trying some other dishes. I thought it was really good for the price. This one definitely stays on the list read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Austin. Good food, consistent, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. My favorites are the ginger-lime soda, curried margarita and the chicken tandoori tacos. Good lunch specials and happy hour prices as well. We eat here like every other week. read more

Their lamb samosa is like a cross between a samosa and an empanada. Its out of this world.

Upon coming unto this building the side of it is a stone facade that is colorful and beautifully painted. The staff was friendly and inviting. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the Austin weather. For the appetizer ordered the roasted chips and salsa that consist of spicy lentil crackers served with mint chutney and homemade salsa. The lentil crackers are thin and crispy (not salted) served with spicy mint chutney as well as spicy homemade salsa. The appetizer was average and I don't think it's worth another try. For the main course I had some of the millionaire curry with lamb and tikka masala with lamb with an order of garlic naan. Almost every item on their menu can be customized to your spice level-mild, medium, hot, or desired hot. The millionaire curry is spicy Mumbai style slum dog curry cooked with fresh tomatoes, ginger, garlic, onion, and spices and the tikka masala is a Mumbai style cashew butter cream sauce cooked with fresh tomatoes, ginger, and onions. For a drink I ordered my favorite, a mango lassi. The appetizer came and was average, but I was not looking to be impressed with it. The chutney and the homemade salsa have a medium spice level. The mango lassi came next and that was an even bigger disappointment. I am used to a cold, smooth, full of mango flavored drink that I order at every place that serves it. This mango lassi did not have a lot of mango flavor, it was more yogurty than anything else, thumbs down. I was hoping that the main course would make up for the first two things that I had tried, and it did. The tikka masala was creamy and flavorful, the lamb was well cooked, and the basmati rice was cooked well and provided a nice contrast to the sauce. The garlic naan was a too flat for me towards the middle of it so it was hard to soak up the delicious tikka masala sauce, but I would still order the naan again. The millionaire curry was good as well, but as the person who ordered it, ordered the hot level it was a bit too much for me to without eating the rice and bread afterwards. The person really liked it and as they like a higher spice level than I do it was great for them. Had I not ordered the mango lassi or the roasted chips with salsa I would have rated this review a 4. read more

Soooo delish! Got there for happy hour and had a lovely margarita. Fresh lime juice and almost no sugar, sour, tangy and chilling on a hot day. Had the Millionaire curry and took a vegan relleno to go. Both were fantastic. Service was groovy and attentive. Highly recommend! read more

I've only had Nasha in the context of lunch. With that said, I can't make a fair assessment on their dinner sector, but for lunch, Nasha is really great. The price to quantity ratio is perfect and the quality is absolutely on point. Nasha isn't the best Indian food in the city but it's the best Indian food on the east side of town. If you're in the area, definitely give it a look. You won't regret it. read more

Uncaring staff and an owner who threatens lawsuits if you write a bad review. Not worth the hassle to come to this place. I am well aware of the handicap access laws and even mentioned this to my friends while we were waiting. But then several tables cleared up and some clearly would not have blocked access and yet there was no sign of the staff attempting to seat us. Showed no sign of caring when we left, is there a law requiring bad service too? read more

Went to Nasha last night and will be back for sure. I don't know much about Indian food, but I liked what I ate: lamb samosas (delicious sauces on the side!) and chicken masala. The spiciness was perfect to my taste, exactly as I ordered. My husband loved his very spicy (as he requested) lamb curry. They have tacos and quesadillas also, which I imagine makes easier to go there with kids or people who are not much into Indian food. Like the other person reviewed, we loved the metal cups and plates. Cloth napkins, thanks god! We sat outside, it was very comfortable - good chairs. Service was outstanding: our waiter, whose name I don't know (red headed and bearded), was very accommodating to my friend's severe allergy restrictions, double checking with kitchen about ingredients. He was a perfect waiter in all other ways too: knowledgeable about menu, patient with our indecision on what to order, ready to make recommendations, and overall very pleasant. The people serving water were also nice and attentive, and the owner/chef (?) came to see if we were happy with our meal (he was not intrusive, what is great, but I wished he had introduced himself so I'd have a chance to praise the service and the food at the time). Prices are good too, what makes easier to come back and try more dishes ;-) I strongly recommend you give it a try. read more
