Great food with decent prices! Thoroughly enjoyed the garlic naan as well - nothing beats a good piece of naan. This will probably be my go to Indian restaurant in Austin. Taking off a star because of the service. While some employees were awesome, some others seemed like they didn't want to be there. Their attitude in seating us and giving us food was cold - maybe that's how it usually is, but it was a little off putting to me. Nothing too big, but something to note. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. The inside is cute as can be, the art outside and the patio is sooo open and great. Gluten free options for days (Indian food is pretty GF friendly) The spices are soooo pure and real tasting. The margaritas (Cardamom is the best) are so refreshing. And if you love spice, Desi is the way to go (but they don't refund if it's TOO hot, just a heads up) You will leave full and happy. read more

I wanted so badly to love this place. It was a busy Sunday evening. Chicken enchiladas with tikka masala as the sauce. Sounds great right? Wrong! Three of us got the enchiladas and the consensus was way way too dry. The chicken inside the tortilla was unseasoned and with zero sauce, which left them very boring and, can I say again, dry. There was a thin layer of sauce on top. So the obvious solution was to ask for more tikka masala sauce. Which I did. But I was rudely turned down saying the kitchen doesn't offer extra tikka sauce. That's a big no no. Sometimes I order garlic naan just to dip in tikka masala sauce. I would have paid a good sum to have extra sauce. But to not even offer it, at an extra cost, is ludicrous. By the way, the naan was mediocre at best. The Trader Joe's frozen stuff is superior. Will not return for any reason. read more

This is a fun little spot with friendly staff and great food. We started with the tikka con queso which was fantastic, and I had the hot paneer biryani (huge!) and my girlfriend had the chicken tandoori tacos, both of which were great. The only negative is that it was pretty hot inside but that's to be expected when it's 106 outside and the staff did warn us when we got there. Will definitely return read more

I absolutely adore this place! I can't believe I found such an amazing Indian place within walking distance of my apartment. The food is always spot on along with the service. Stephanie is the best server, I'm so sad to see her go! My favs here include the tikka masala, korma, samosas, any of their naan (especially the peshwari one though..it has dried fruit in it and is topped with sugar. They have an amazing happy hour from 4-7 on weekdays, 1/2 of apps and discounted cocktails/beer. They also have a daily drink special. I can't say enough good things..if you haven't already checked out Nasha, you have to! read more

Owner was friendly and food was good as well. Good dietary options for people with food allergies etc. Nice find.

Meh. Went here with a group on a Sunday evening-- group policies are fine (18% added gratuity, won't seat you until the party arrives, etc) but this is the first time I've had a policy that said each person had to spend $15+? That's fine, it was about what we were expecting to spend anyway, just an interesting requirement. Drinks: These were amazing. I had a cardamom margarita that was interesting and flavorful and really delicious. Wife had a house-made lime-ginger soda that was tart and fresh and fantastic. Food: The tikka con queso was really delicious. Cheesy and buttery and flavorful on the garlic naan. Samosas were spicy, well-flavored, flaky and delicious. Unfortunately, we should have just had those for dinner. I had the saag paneer on a medium and it left me looking for spice (and flavor). It was very bland. Saag is my favorite type of curry so I've had it at most Indian restaurants in town and this is the only time that adjective has come to mind. Wife had the tikka enchiladas-- the tikka sauce was good enough, the guacamole was amazing, but the chicken/filling in the enchiladas was very dry. We were a big party (13) and the reviews around the table about almost all the food were the same: meh. Solidly okay for indian food. Not great. Not rave-worthy. But not bad either. Like I said, "meh". One party member got a mouthful of a ball of spice (perhaps a curry paste that's used?) and lost the rest of her dish as she tried to recover from how hot that one bite had been. The thing that really brought the night down was our service. I get serving a large party can be hard and time consuming. I also realize our group can be talkative and miss questions every now and again. But our waiter this evening seemed aware that he was getting a guaranteed 18% and couldn't be bothered otherwise. Our soda came out about 10 minutes after everyone else's drinks. My wife's enchiladas came out five minutes before anyone else's food. Orders of Naan were forgotten and when brought out, combined. For a good three-four minutes everyone had curry but no rice. Checks took nearly twenty minutes to run. When we asked if he would mind taking a picture he sent over the other female (and much friendlier) waitress who did a great job. She also bussed our table and asked how the food was, so maybe he was just having an off night and their service is normally up to par. All in all, it was okay Indian food, but why settle for okay when there are so many other amazing options in Austin? Go for a drink and appetizers, then head somewhere else on the east side for entrees and better service. read more

I was very underwhelmed because of all the great reviews. I had the carne asada and for $20 it was very cheap, chewy meat, a small pile of dry rice, a small pile of shredded iceberg lettuce and a few peppers and onions. I dont plan on returning. read more

Delicious food, fast service, yummy cocktails: We visited Austin and wanted to scope out the Indian cuisine. The lamb puff samosas were amazing! For our main courses, we tried the Kheema masala and verde masala. We loved every plate and plan to return on our next trip to Austin! read more

Nasha - Lamb puffs and pomegranate mojito - Indian Near Me - Austin, Texas

We went there for lunch from office. Nasha has long been one of my Austin staples. If my partner and are just aren't in the mood to cook, and the never ending indecision battle begins, it's usually resolved by one of three places, and Nasha is definitely on that list. Reliable, delicious, creative, and great value. You could definitely call me a fan. It's been a while since we've gone in person now, but I recall the service is always stellar. Staff are amicable and seem like genuinely cool people. read more

The tikka queso is one of the best things I have ever eaten. You must get it if you go. Make sure to check out the specials on the board. I went at lunch time and service was super quick. read more

Full in flavor and very chill vibe. The Korma with either chicken or paneer (or both) is my favorite. And I recommend the Onion Pakoda for an appetizer. Friendly staff, usually not too crowded, and they have some good cocktails (the margarita) too! I frequent this place and think it's one best Indian spots you can try that has a decent price point. read more

This isn't your average Indian place serving Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer for the most part. (They have that on the menu too, but thats not why you go to Nasha). When my favourite restaurant in Austin (New India Cuisine) meets a full bar and late hours, you get Nasha (meaning intoxication in Hindi). Like I said, while you will still get your traditional CTM and Saag Paneer, this place specializes in regional cuisine from the west coast of India (Malvani food). The spice mixes used are typical to that region and go really well with seafood. Add to that the owner, Mahesh's penchant for being creative and what you get is the marriage of Malvani food and Tex-Mex style tacos resulting in such gems as Fish Malvani Tacos and Shrimp Koliwada Tacos. They also offer some of their super hit curries such as the Millionaires Curry and Malvani Curry from their other (and older) restaurant on SoCo - New India Cuisine. The drinks also have a distinct Indian touch to them with such drinks as Cardamom Margarita and Curried Margarita. This place is a great twist to Indian food and makes me really happy because Indian food does offer ample scope for innovation. These guys have nailed it. read more

I wanted to love it, but there were several unforgivable issues. I understand fusion. I'm even okay with it. However, if you can't make a regular saag, or a vindaloo, then you have no business creating fusion menu items like curry tacos or whatever. My saag with chicken was lousy. It wasn't hot which I requested. It didn't contain cream as I very clearly requested. It didn't actually taste like anything other than frozen spinach and onion processed in a blender. It was pretty watery too. What else? It's got a full bar which is good. It is in a great location on E. 7th. You can't ask for any substitutions we were told. The samosas are not very good which was ridiculously disappointing. It's a very loud restaurant. Our server was a nice dude. The service is very friendly, but when I went they appeared to be short staffed. There is clearly a management issue. Someone should let me know if things turn around. I'm not opposed to second chances. read more

Let me start this review by saying I have now lived in Austin for four years and never was able to find a legitimately good Indian restaurant (you could read my review of Clay Pit, for example). I'm Indian, grew up on Indian food, and cook Indian food quite often, so I kind of know what good Indian food ought to taste like. Sadly, it has been difficult to find that in Austin. Nasha has finally filled that void. It is certainly a white-washed Indian place, and yet, I still managed to find a great degree of satisfaction with their food. It's your typical East Austin joint - hippie vibe, tatted servers in a dimly-lit renovated house. But their menu attracted me, so I decided to give them a try and came with my friend. We each ordered their curries - myself the paneer Shahi korma (hot spice level), and my friend the chicken Malvani coconut curry (desi hot spice level). We were blown away by the food in more ways than one. The first way we were blown away was by the flavor. My korma was rich, spicy and savory with just the right touch of sweet, creamy yet not overbearing, and the paneer was buttery and tender. My friend's chicken was moist, and his curry busting with flavor and spice. The second, and more important way we were blown away was by the spice/heat level. Especially because we did not expect this at a westernized Indian spot. It has truly been a long while since I ate food this spicy - and I loved it. I blew through two glasses of water and my friend had to order a side of yogurt just to cool down from all the heat. Neither of us could finish our food - not because it was too much or that were too full, but because we just could not go on with all the heat. But don't misinterpret any of this as admonishment towards Nasha; rather, take it as my seal of approval for this restaurant's genuine offerings. My advice to those who cannot handle spicy food is to still come and try this place...just order mild. read more

I have only been here a couple of times and always get the keema masala, it is so good!

Disappointing bland tasting food. It looks like a nice place to hang out in but there are too many problems that could be resolved with a bit more attention to detail. - Chicken too dry, overcooked - Salad is of basic quality and sauce/mint vinaigrette does not taste good. - Korma has a bland sauce. - The Chai tasted like water and milk. Thankfully the server kindly replaced it with a Lassi that was enjoyable. - The cheese naan had a good tasting bread, but the cheese tasted like everything else but cheese, and bland again. I usually love Indian food wherever I travel. The Claypit has better food, and a convenient lunch buffet. read more

I had lunch here and it was delicious. The owner (I think she was an owner) talked to is about the food and made sure we got the type of order we wanted. I got a dish with cauliflower and potatoes and it was so good and really filling. The nan was warm and perfect. And my lunch dates food was like an Indian taco but it was so good! They were nice to talk to but left us alone to enjoy the meal. I'm really happy I found a good Indian place on the Eastside! read more

Yum! Ordered Nasha with DoorDash and was not disappointed. The food was flavorful and delicious but holy (bleep) it was SPICY. I had the veg samosa, vindaloo with Paneer in hot, and the jalapeño nan. Now, yes, I can see my error in overestimating my tolerance for spicy food. My bad. I did enjoy every bite between gulps of water. Will order again (spicy tolerance in mind) the next time I'm in the area. read more

Nasha's food is pretty tasty. I'm giving them a 4 against Indian restaurants over all, but I feel like they let me down a little. The portion sizes aren't large and the prices are a tad high for what you get. I feel a lot of the curries are lacking a bit in the quantity of meat. I like the millionaires curry with lamb but I can't get it hotter than medium. Hot here is pretty spicy! Also, my own little pet peeve with indian places - the meat dishes cost the same price as the veggie dishes. I would always get a veggie dish/curry if it was around half as much! I would steer clear of their chicken tikka masala - it is ok but the millionaires or the mulvani coconut curry are far superior. I've had the mussels appetizer which is good and I haven't had the tacos yet but they look awesome. I love goat but I usually get the lamb because it is boneless while the goat has bones. You should definitely get the garlic naan and the naan basket was a nice mix of onion naan, garlic naan, and Jalepeno naan. They have Kingfisher on tap for $5 a pint and I really like their cocktail with the gin, cucumber and Jalepeno. They also have a few reasonably priced bottles of wine and happy hour deals. They have a parking lot or there is also street parking available. read more

From the time we sat down, it took 30 mins to get any food served. We asked if it was busy and the waiter said, "No, I'm just scatter brained." Our appetizer never came. The waiter said, "Sorry, it just never got made." and removed the food we never received from our check. The food was mediocre. The naan came out long after our meal was served. The rice was cold. Overall, I really wanted to like this place, but was very disappointed. Owners were kind enough to offer us a coupon to come back. Updated review based on that. Much appreciated but, unfortunately, I think we're good. Lots of places to try in Austin. Hopefully others have a better experience here than we did. read more

Update from last year. Decided to hit up Nashua again with one of my Indian friends who swears by it. We had the fish tacos, which might be the best in town. Delicious hand rolled roti, plenty of fresh vegetables, and several mild to hot sauces. Paired with an IPA- what could be better. We also had curried fish stew. Also perfect. The owner Mahesh came by and offered a taste of Indian rum. It's sweet, you can taste the remnants of molasses. I'm gonna have to come here more often. read more

Nasha is non-traditional ... Mexican. Mexican with an Indian flair (this coming from someone of European descent, so take it with a grain of salt). I was craving Indian so my friend and I got here only to find that they were serving enchiladas, with an Indian curry! I liked it. The mixture of the cultural flavors (I'm unsure of what regions!) went very well together. I didn't love it though, and not for lack of inventiveness. My main problem with the food was that it was a bit on the bland side. Both Mexican and Indian are renown for spice and rich flavors. The dish I had at Nasha was good, but not rich. It really was a missed opportunity, almost as if they were (in my mind) catering to a non-spicy crowd. Still, it was good food overall and I would not frown on the idea of returning to Nasha. Also, the service was great. Friendly, quick, attentive. That's half the battle at going to a lot of restaurants. Our server had a great smile, knew the menu and stuck a nice balance of keeping our glasses full without bugging us. read more

Oh my!! Spices flown in from the Konkan. Delicious fusion food. Incredible Tulsi margarita.I felt like I was sitting on a beachside patio in Goa (complete with kind of bad backpacker-friendly background music). Paneer saag enchiladas. Chile relleno with Indian sauce. So so so good. read more

We decided to visit this place after seeing such rave reviews but we were extremely disappointed with the food. We got a paneer quesadilla for our son and after trying a bite of it myself I was astonished at how awful and bland it was. Even our two year old refused to finish his dish and looked over at the plain rice that my wife was eating and wanted that instead. Everything we ordered didn't have salt which made the food just bleh. The brown rice that I got with my curry was undercooked and was wondering how can one mess up making brown rice? We were really hoping to have some good flavorful Indian food but this place just didnt suit our Indian Tastebuds. read more

I came here with a group of coworkers a couple days ago for lunch. Let me say this....places like this are why I LOVE Austin. Places like this are what make me want to abandon Houston and move to this amazing city. By recommendation, I ordered the Tikka Masala with Paneer. It was divine. I probably could have ordered hot, but I ordered medium and it was creamy, and amazing and delicious. We also ordered the Naan basket which was THE bomb. The Jalapeño Naan was my fav. The service was as good as it could get....not too in your face and not too distant either. Just right. They also can veganize almost any dish except for a couple according to the waitress. Next time I'm in town I willlllll be stopping here. read more

Mmmmmm!!! Nice happy hour, delicious drinks. The curried margarita is perfectly spicy with fresh jalapeños, but is very spicy so beware if you don't want that. We got the veggie samosas, tikka masala with paneer, garlic naan. I just finished my leftovers and I cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend!!! read more

Vegetarian review -- Man, this was bad. Visited on a Friday night. The decor and signage is very kitschy -- reminiscent of the cover art for "Axis: Bold as Love". I'm not a fan but to each their own. The service was strange, but not terrible. The person at front of house was very loopy. Our waitress was fine. We ordered: - Roasted Chips and Salsa This is just papad served with one pico de gallo and one sauce that tasted a bit like cilantro-mint chutney. Seemed very silly to give it the fusion veneer. The papad was just OK. Not house made as far as I could tell, and roasted but not deep fried. I can imagine a fusion rendition of this: makki or khichiya (corn) papad, deep fried, with one Indian-spiced salsa with fusion ingredients. This ain't it; you might as well just buy papad from the grocery store. - Chile Relleno Plate (vegetarian version) This was really bad. The menu only mentions tikka or millionaire's sauce but the waitress also offered their verde sauce for a higher level of spice, and we took her up on it. The verde sauce is red (?!) and spicy indeed. As far as I can tell, the dish is rounded out as a poblano stuffed with a bland boiled potato curry and covered in said sauce of your choice. Would have been much better if the potato curry were of the sort you'd get in a really good masala dosa, and the level of heat in the verde sauce were balanced with some fat and acidity. Including paneer in the stuffing, and battering the chile in egg and masa, would both enhance the flavor and more successfully achieve the fusion that the restaurant intends. - Achar They were out of Achar - Large raita Fine, but a tiny quantity - Chapati Good, but as reported by the waitress, not house made. (she said it came from an Indian bakery) In sum: The food is not at all equal to the concept. They haven't really put enough thought into how to pull the fusion off. In our case at least, the "good" was not homemade, and the "bad" was ill-conceived and executed. Hard pass. read more

Okay, Here's nasha In a nutshell: Friendly and prompt service. Small intimate vibe ( great for dates) Everything comes out really hot and fresh, in comparison to other busier indian restaurants. My girlfriend and I frequent indian joints very often, I definitely think that we'll keep coming back. read more

We usually Love this restaurant and either dine in or get take out at least a month. However, we received our takeout tonight and every item (that is usually great) was very poorly executed. The Kale Chana Dal was so salty we couldn't eat it, the Chana masala was very bland, and the garlic naan was barely seasoned. It's very disappointing for us and hopefully they were just having an off night and will improve soon. On top of all of that when we were attempting to call in our order, the phones were ringing with no answer for 45 minutes. read more

Really cute and casual Indian fare. Not too hard to roll in and get a table, especially late at night, which is a saving grace and how we ended up here. Really my Malvani Roasted Coconut Curry: fresh roasted coconut cooked with onions, ginger, garlic, chilies & cilantro, then pick yer poison, er protein. I went with the paneer and was very happy to have done so. It was luscious and flavorful without being heavy or weighing me down at that late hour. It also did not have an overwhelming coconut flavor. Nicely balanced, so don't let it scare you off if you're worried it will smash the other flavors. We also ordered the naan basket. 4 assorted types - plain, garlic, onion, jalapeno. They tried to tell us it was too much for 2 people, but they don't know how we do it. No bread conquers me. Mostly I just really wanted to try each kind, and I'm glad I did. I really liked the onion and garlic ones, but the plain is classic for a reason, and the jalapeno is excellent as well, but how well it meshes with your meal depends a little more on what you order. But it was a difficult pick! I'm sure the next night we look down and find it's 11pm and we forgot to eat dinner, I'll be back here to try the mussels and clams, and there's tons of vegan and veggie picks if you're looking to please a group. I'm surprised there weren't more people there, but from the other reviews, it looks like this one is well-kept secret so check it out for a casual date night, a chill happy hour, or a fun group outing. read more

Great accommodations for vegetarians and vegans! Love the outdoor seating and environment. I got the millionaires curry, Chana masala, and garlic naan! Came here for dinner Saturday night with a couple friends. I had the Bombay drink with cucumber lime and jalapeno - highly reccommend. My husband and i split the chicken tikka masala, and the whole curried mussels with jalapeno and garlic naan. Chicken tikka is our go to, and Nasha's did not dissappoint. The one star taken is for their mussels - out of the 7 given to you, 2 were fully closed and one tasted iffy, which made me nervous. Otherwise would have been 5 stars. This is not your average Indian Buffet. We serve health conscious soul food straight from our home. We never use food colours & MSG, and all of our meats are consciously sourced. The above is taken straight from Nasha's website. I called to ask what they mean by consciously sourced meats as supposedly all of their meat is...I found out from the owner that none of the meat is organic, free range, or local. It seems like the only conscious decision they made when sourcing their meat was to not be unconscious when ordering it.... I'll never eat here and don't understand why they feel the need to be deceptive on their site... read more
